Tarantino, badass on screen, badder ass off screen – Skatronixxx

Legendary auteur Quentin Tarantino is synonymous with quirky-pop-culture additions to the cinematic landscape that has made him a name that will be remembered for all-time. Tv however has proven a tough nut to crack for the writer, director and producer. With a handful of television credits on his resume, including the two-part season 5 finale for CSI (2005), the small screen is certainly virgin territory for Tarantino to conquer.

Speaking with Premiere magazine, Tarantino revealed that he owns ‘the rights to this book [I’ve] wanted to adapt for a while, and the time may have come for me to tackle [it].’ He further elaborated that book in question is Forty Lashes Less One by Elmore Leonard, adding ‘which could be my third western. [I’m] considering [taking the] project to TV, in the form of a mini-series of four or six hours.’

Leonards novel explores racial prejudices in the old west which have dominated many of Tarantino’s works, of recent being Django Unchained (2013) and soon to be released Hateful Eight, but also Jackie Brown (1998) which was also based on Leonard’s novel Rum Punch.

Given the director’s latest conflict with getting Hateful Eight onto the big screen, a change of pace to television may be what Tarantino is looking for. With the project currently in the pre-production stage, it may be some-time before we learn what form Tarantino’s next story will take.
