When the original film in this franchise was released, I was excited. Here was a new concept – What would happen if all crime was legal for 12 hours, including murder?
The original film had real suspense, coupled with a likeable family that you were really rooting for (with the possible exception of Lena Headey, who arguably suffered from the curse of Cersei Lannister).

The second film was far less superior than the first and unfortunately, with this one, it looks like the quality has slipped again.
Yet again, the annual purge is set to begin. The film appears to centre around Government figures, but this isn’t made abundantly clear. In fact, the trailer isn’t really clear on anything. All you really feel you know by the end is that another purge has taken place and people are in danger. Except that this time, the people in danger are not the likeable family next door, but official types that you would probably be happy to see die anyway. Couple that with some extraordinarily bad acting and you seem to have a recipe for a box office flop.
This franchise is seriously moving downhill….. How long can they keep this concept going? Only time will tell.
