Cancelled, Renewed & New Shows for 2016-17

So the other day while doing my article on Elementary, I got to thinking about how many shows are being cancelled and the fact that I was struggling to keep up with what was going on, so I have scoured the Internet and have for you that latest on the cancelled,  Renewed and for good measure a few of the new shows coming up. I think I have them all covered but you know how quickly stuff changes on the Internet but tis is the complete list as of today.

Below is everything I could find on new shows for the 2016-17 season. Don’t hold out a lot of hope for them, seems to be a lot of remakes instead of being creative and giving us some original content…Its getting boring with constant remakes of shows.

NBC’s  NEW SHOWS

●The Good Place

Staring: Kristin Bell & Ted Danson. Creator Mike Schur (Parks and Recreation and Brooklyn Nine-Nine) making this a much-watch series. When Eleanor Shellstrop (Bell) arrives at titular Good Place after being hit by a truck her mentor Michael (Danson) tell her she made it there because she helped innocent people get off death row. Only one problem: She didn’t actually do that. Comedy gold? Maybe.

● Timeless

Staring: Abigail Spencer
In Timeless, a criminal steals a secret government time machine, and Homeland Security seeks out a history professor (Abigail Spencer) to lead a team that will travel back to restore the timeline and save history of America.

●Marlon

Staring: Marlon Wayans, Essence Atkins, Notlim Taylor, Amir O’Neil, Bresha Webb and Diallo Riddle
“Marlon” is inspired by the real life of the titular comedian, Marlon Wayans, who plays a loving but immature father committed to co-parenting his two kids with his ex-wife.

●Great News

Staring: Briga Heelan, Andera Martin, Adam Campbell, John Michael Higgins and Kimrie Lewis-Davis
Briga is an up-and-coming news producer whose overbearing mother (Martin) re-enters the workforce with a job as an intern at the station where Katie works.

●Trial and Error

Staring: Nichols D’Agosto, John Lithgow, Krysta Rodriguez, Steven Boyer and Sherri Shepherd
In this outrageous fish-out-of-water comedy, bright-eyed New York lawyer Josh Segal (D’Agosto) heads to a tiny Southern town for his first big case. His mission? To defend an eccentric, “rollercizing” poetry professor Larry (Lithgow), accused of the bizarre murder of his beloved wife.

●Powerless

●Chicago Justice

●Taken

Staring: Clive Standen

●The Blacklist: Redemption

●Midnight, Texas

Based on the hit book series from author Charlaine Harris (“True Blood”), comes a journey into a remote Texas town where no one is who they seem. From vampires and witches to psychics and hit men, Midnight is a mysterious safe haven for those who are different. As the town members fight off outside pressures from rowdy biker gangs, ever-suspicious cops and their own dangerous pasts,they band together and form a strong and unlikely family.

●This Is Us

Staring: Manny Moore, Milo Ventimiglia and Sterling K. Brown
The series follows a unique ensemble whose paths cross and their life stories intertwine in curious ways. We find several of them share the same birthday, and so much more then anyone would expect

● Emerald City

Staring: Adria Arjona and Vincent D’Onofrio
In the blink of a tornado’s eye, 20-year-old Dorothy Gale (Arjona) and a K9 police dog are swept into a world far removed from our own – mystical land of competing realms, lethal warriors, dark magic and a bloody battle for supremacy. Vincent D’Onofrio as the guileful Wizard and directed by the visionary Tarsem Singh across three European countries, this is Oz completely re-imagined.

FOX’s NEW SHOWS

● Son of Zorn

Staring: Jason Sudekis, Johnny Pemberton, Cheryl Hines, Tim Meadows.
The latest show from Phil Lord and Chris Miller, Zorn (Jason Sudekis) is an animated warrior in the style of He-Man who rules an isolated kingdom in the Pacific Ocean. He leaves that world behind and makes the journey to Orange County to reunite with his son Alan (Johnny Pemberton) and ex-wife (Cheryl Hines), who’s now engaged to Craig (Tim Meadows).

● Star

Staring: Jude Demorest, Brittany O’Grady, Ryan Destiny.
Featuring: Queen Latifah, Lenny Kravitz and Benjamin Bratt
Star (Jude Demorest) is an 18-year-old gifted singer who spent much of her life in the foster system. She takes her sister Simone (Brittany O’Grady) and moves to Atlanta to meet their godmother Carlotta (Latifah), and start a girl group with Alexandra (Ryan Destiny).

●Pitch

Staring: Kylie Bunbury, Mo McRae
Pitch is a combination of the real-life story of Little League pitcher Mo’ne Davis, who captivated baseball fans in 2014, and something like Rookie if the Year. Ginny (Kylie Bunbury) is the first woman to play in Major League Baseball, a pitcher called up by San Diego Padres. But instead of an injury granting her magical throwing powers, she’s developed a mean screwball, a pitch built after years of practice with her father Blip (Mo McRae).

●Making History

Staring: Adam Pally
Making History centers on Dan (Adam Pally), a sad sack computer science professor who invents a time machine and uses it to spend his weekends exploiting his knowledge of the future to make friends and become popular in colonial America.

●A.P.B

Staring: Justin Kirk
A tech billionaire (Kirk) who purchases a struggling police precinct after a loved one is killed. His hope is to use innovative tech to stop criminals.

●Prison Break

Staring: Dominic Purcell, Sarah Wayne Callies and Wentworth Miller
The revival centers around Lincoln (Purcell) and Sara (Callies) as they learn Michael (Miller) isn’t dead, but rather stuck in a Yemeni.

●The Exorcist

Staring: Geena Davis and Alfonso Herrera
Another TV reboot of a classic film, it will be more of a modern take on the novel and 70’s movie

●Lethal Weapon

Staring: Damon Wayans and Clayne Crawford
Yep you guessed it another reboot of a classic film

●24: Legacy

Staring: Corey Hawkins
The saga continues with Eric Carter (Hawkins), a man who turn to CTU to help him save his life while also working to stop a terror threat.

●Shots Fired

Staring: Sanaa Lathan, Stephan James, Helen Hunt, Richard Dreyfus and Stephen Moyer.
A compelling event series examining the dangerous aftermath of racially charged shootings in a small Southern town

●The Mick

Staring: Kaitlin Olson
From producers of “its Always Sunny in Philadelphia”, “The Mick” is a no-holds-barred single-camera comedy that follows Mackenzie, aka “Mickey” (Olson), a brash, two-bit hustler for Rhode Island who must assume guardianship of her sister’s three high-maintenance children. As irresponsible as Mickey has been her entire life, she may discover that responsibility isn’t the buzzkill she always thought it would be.

ABC’s NEW SHOWS

● Conviction

Staring: Hayley Atwell
Hayley Atwell is Hayes Morrison, a former First Daughter who has a drug problems, among others, that are getting in the way of her mother’s Senate campaign. To keep from going to prison, Morrison accepts a jobs the head of a Conviction Integrity Unit in New York City, tasked with re-examining cases to determine wrongful conviction.

●Designated Survivor

Staring: Kiefer Sutherland
Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Tom Kirkman (Sutherland) is the titular designee, who gets sequestered during the State of the Union. When an explosion destroys the Capitol Building, Kirkman is the next in line for the presidency.

●Still Star-crossed

Based on the novel by Melinda Taub, and created by Grey’s Anatomy and Scandal writer Heather Mitchell, the fifth ABC show from Shonda Rhimes uses the ends of Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet as its starting point. It’s hammy in the way CW’s historical romance Reign and Starz’s Outlander, but this genre has a dedicated following, and Rhimes has displayed a golden touch that dewarfs other major executive producers.

●American Housewife

Staring: Katy Mixon
Katie Otto (Katy Mixon), a confident, unapologetic wife and mother of three, raises her flawed family in the wealthy town of Wesport, Connecticut, filled with “perfect” mommies and their “perfect” offspring.

●Imaginary Mary

Staring: Jenna Elfman
Alice (Elfman) is fiercely independent career woman whose life is turned upside-down when she meets the love of her life – a divorced father with three kids. The triggers even more upheaval when she slightly unhinged imaginary friend she created as a child suddenly reappears to help her navigate the transition from single girl to a woman ready for a family.

●Notorious

Staring: Piper Perabo and Daniel Sunjata
Is inspired by the true-life stories of famed criminal defense attorney Mark Geragos and cable news producer Wendy Walker, who serve as executive producers. The series is a provocative look at the unique, sexy and dangerous interplay of criminal law and the media

●Downward Dog

Staring: Allison Tolman
Is a comedy that follows a lovelorn woman through the eyes of her dog.

●Time After Time

Staring: Freddie Stroma and Josh Bowman
Follows the story of a young H.G. Wells as he attempts to track Jack the Ripper through time.

Staring: Michael Weatherly, Freddy Rodriguez, Geneva Carr
Weatherly stars as Dr. Jason Bull in a drama inspired by the early career of Dr. Phil McGraw, the founder of one of the most prolific trial consulting firms of all times. Bull employs an enviable team of experts at Trial Analysis Corporation, including his quick-witted brother-in-law, Benny Colón (Rodriguez) who plays a defense attorney in mock trials; Marissa Morgan (Carr), a cutting-edge neurolinguistics expert from the Department of Homeland Security.
●Kevin Can Wait

Staring: Kevin James and Erinn Hayes
A newly retired police officer looking forward to spending carefree, quality time with his wife (Hayes) and three kids, only to discover he faces tougher challenges at home then he ever did on the streets.

●Man with a Plan

Staring: Matt LeBlanc
A comedy about a contractor who starts spending more time with his kids when his wife returns to work, and he discovers the truth every parent eventually realizes: their little angels are maniacs.

●MacGyver

Staring: Lucas Till and George Eads
A  re-imagining of the classic series, is an action-adventure drama about 20-something Angus “Mac” MacGyver who creates a clandestine organization within the U.S. government where he uses his extraordinary talent for unconventional problem solving and vast scientific knowledge to save lives. Joining his team on high-risk missions around the globe is maverick former CIA agent Lincoln (Eads).
Under the aegis of the Department of External Affairs, MacGyver takes on the responsibility of saving the world, armed to the teeth with resourcefulness and little more than bubble gum and a paper clip.

●Pure Genius

Staring: Augustus Prew and Dermot Mulroney
A cutting-edge medical drama about James Bell (Prew), a young Silicon Valley tech titan, who enlists Walter Wallace (Mulroney), a brilliant veteran surgeon with a controversial past, to run a state-of-the-art hospital with an ultramodern approach to medicine.

●Training Day

Staring: Bill Paxton and Justin Cornwall
A crime drama that begins 15 years after the events of the feature film, starring Paxton as Frank Rourke, a hardened morally ambiguous detective for the LAPD, and Cornwell as Kyle Craig, a young, idealistic officer tapped to go undercover as his trainee and spy on him.

● Doubt

Staring: Katherine Heigl, Laverne Cox, Dreama Walker
Sadie Ellis (Heigl), a brilliant attorney at a boutique firm who starts to fall for her charismatic client, an altruistic pediatric surgeon recently accused of murdering his girlfriend 24 years ago. Sadie’s colleagues include Cameron Wirth (Cox), a transgender Ivy League graduate who fights passionately for her clients since she’s experienced injustice first hand, and Tiffany Simon (Walker), a second-year associate who is quickly learning the ropes.

CW’s NEW SHOWS

●Frequency

Staring: Peyton List and Riley Smith
This drama reimagines the 2000 film of the same name, following a female police detective (List) in 2016 who discovers she is able to speak via a ham radio with her estranged father (Smith) who died in 1996. The forge a new relationship while working together on an unresolved murder case, but unintended consequences of the “butterfly effect” wreak havoc in the present day.

●No Tomorrow

Staring: Tori Anderson and Joshua Sasse
When a risk-averse, straight arrow, female procurement manager (Anderson) at an Amazon-like distribution center falls in love with a freewheeling man who lives life to the fullest (Sasse) because he believes the apocalypse is imminent, they embark on a quest together to fulfill their individual bucket lists, to comedic and poignant results.
