New Heroes And A Villain For DC’s Legends Of Tomorrow

With the move from regular to recurring role of Wentworth Miller aka Captain Cold, and the exit of Hawk duo Ciara Renee & Falk Hentschel, the crew of the WaveRider is a little light for the upcoming Season 2. The news currently making the rounds is that Mari McCabe aka Vixen is being cast from the past, and that Nick Zano (Cougar Town, Minority Report) will be enlisting as Dr. Nate Heywood. Nate is a historian and the grandson of Henry Heywood – WWII superhero Commander Steel and a member of the JSA. The Season 1 finale of LoT hinted very strongly (broad side of a barn door strongly, lol) at the appearance of the JSA in season 2, thanks to a second WaveRider that Rex Tyler (Patrick J Adams) crashed in front of our team.

Producer Marc Guggenheim has this to say about season 2…

“The season finale planted some very significant flags in terms of what the new concept of the show will be in Season 2. The team’s mission statement is more compelling than Season 1.”

And he gives us a teaser about the new villain.  He says that the Thangarian threat will be on everyone’s minds but occupying a position further down the to-do list, as we will have a mystery big bad.

“What we’re going to do in Season 2 of Legends will be more similar to what you’ve experienced in the first three seasons of Arrow, or the first two seasons of Flash, where it’s more of a slow reveal and a little bit of mystery.”

A bit more digging has revealed that an African-American woman playing an elite soldier from the 1940’s will join the team to get revenge for a fallen companion. Given earlier casting news, this woman can only be the older Vixen that has  been spoken of. But you know, there was an earlier rumor of BlackHawk, an incarnation of Hawkgirl.  Either way, it makes me wonder: will the mystery person she is after be a minor villain or the main one? Time and Gideon will tell. Look for the return of our heroes old and new on Thursday, October 13 on the CW.

Meanwhile, I will keep scouring the web for hints and clues as to what we can expect to see when we next board the WaveRider.
