Indiana Jones Official Release Date!

Indiana Jones

The really exciting news about Indiana Jones 5, yet to be titled, is that Harrison Ford, now at the tender age of 74, will be reprising the role of the swashbuckling archaeologist. He will be 77 when the film is released, just days after his birthday.

In addition, Disney, in the person of Walt Disney Studios Chairman Alan Horn, has confirmed that Steven Spielberg will be back in the Director’s chair. And during a press event for The BFG, Steven Spielberg confirmed that George Lucas is involved.

“George is going to be an executive producer on it with me…. I would never make an Indiana Jones film without George Lucas. That’d be insane.”

Steven has also confirmed that he will NOT be killing Indy off at the end of the 5th film.  With the amazing work Harrison pulled off in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Mr. Spielberg is confident that Ford will be able to pull off anything the Indiana script throws at him. On that point he has this to say:

“He keeps himself in such brilliant physical shape that I don’t believe when 2018 comes around, which is when I’m slated to direct the fifth installment coming out in 2019, I think Harrison is going to be able to do a lot of what the script is asking him to do.”

In other news, fans will be happy to discover that Disney has plans for continuing the Indiana Jones franchise. According to a hint dropped by Disney CEO Bob Iger, future films could feature a younger Indy.

The film will hit the big screen on July 19, 2019.

Here is Jimmy Kimmel’s Interview with Harrison Ford, published on March 22, 2016.
