The lid is firmly on for any news of the adaptation of Stephen Kings’ The Dark Tower. And by firmly on,  I mean chained down in a style that would defy Harry Houdini’s best efforts! That being said, there are a few morsels out there that I was able to find. Last month, some filming took place in Cape Town. There are leaked set pics out there on the net, but I have chosen not to include them, since that could potentially infringe.  If you have not seen them and would like to, they can be seen here.

On Father’s Day, Idris teased the fans with this tweet:

And in March, a little twitter fun took place between Idris Elba and Matthew McConaughey:

The story will not begin at the beginning of The Gunslinger, and the pic from Stephen King at the top of this article seems to bear that out, showing the Horn of Eld and the words “Last Time Around“. Mr. King is adamant that the movie will open with that famous line: “The Man in Black fled across the desert and the Gunslinger followed”.

Opening Line

This cycle of The Gunslingers’ quest is being Executive Produced by G. Mac Brown, Erica Huggins, and Jeff Pinkner.  The Producers are: Akiva Goldsman, Brian Grazer, Ron Howard and Stephen King.

The IMDb page for The Dark Tower reveals the actors who have been cast to date and their roles, with the exception of Katheryn Winnick who is cast but whose role remains a mystery.  There is no notice of either Eddie or Susannah as yet.

The cast and their roles:

According to Variety and Sony, the movie is slated to premiere on January 13, 2017.  Stay tuned here for further updates on this epic production!
