Is The Dragonzord On The Horizon?

A team of “teenagers with attitude” are recruited to save Angel Grove from the evil witch, Rita Repulsa . . . There’s no part of that sentence I didn’t like. If your childhood was as awesome as mine, you’d race to the tv on Saturday mornings to catch the latest episode of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. It was a must for every Saturday morning for years after it began August 28, 1993.

MIGHTY MORPHIN' POWER RANGERS, David Yost, Thuy Trang, Jason David Frank, Austin St. John, Amy Jo Jo

It seems to be a growing trend to reboot familiar favorites from our youth these days and when rebooting an old television show for a new generation on the big screen, it has become tradition in Hollywood to try and find some way to include the original stars of these shows (Johnny Depp in 21 Jump StreetDirk Benedict in The A-Team)

Jason David Frank, who you might remember as Tommy Oliver a.k.a. the Green/White Ranger on the original Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, has revealed that he has already been having conversations with the people behind the new Power Rangers movie and that he will, at the very least, have a cameo in the feature. greenranger1

“I probably will be involved. They talked to me about it. I don’t know how much I am involved, but for sure cameos at least in the reboot movie.”

He added that he doesn’t know too much about his involvement yet only because they’re (studio reps) being very secretive about the film, but it is interesting that he has already been talking with those involved. The next installment in the Power Rangers franchise is slated for release March 24, 2017.

In the meantime, what do you think about Jason David Frank’s potential role in the Power Rangers reboot? Would you like to see him just have a cameo, or would you want to see him get an expanded part? Sound off in the comments section and let me know!!
