CM Punk Finally Set To Make UFC Debut At UFC203

rsz_hqdefault.jpg

So it’s been announced that Phil ‘CM Punk’ Brooks may finally make his UFC debut in September after being added to the UFC 203 fight card in September along side the likes of Ronda Rousey and Connor McGregor.

CM Punk was due to make his first UFC appearance at UFC 199 against Mikey Gall but was ruled out due to a shoulder injury. Mikey Gall is undefeated in his two UFC fights so far and is considerably younger being 24 and CM Punk being 37 so this should be an interesting fight as CM Punk is still a mystery due to having no previous fighting experience except for the choreographed fighting in the WWE.

CM Punk had this to say.

“The instant I got cleared I got on the horn with [UFC president Dana White] and we nailed everything down so I will be debuting September 10 in Cleveland,” Brooks told the UFC Unfiltered podcast. “I’m super excited. For obviously a myriad of reasons. There’s a light at the end of the tunnel.”

So there we have it not long to go until we finally get to see what CM Punk is made of in the Octagon. I don’t hold out much hope but I’m always open to being proved wrong when it comes to fights in the UFC.

The Rock Almost Considered Joining The UFC

rsz_therock650

So it has come to light from the Matt Serra UFC Unfiltered Podcast that Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson almost joined the UFC 10 years ago before Brock Lesnar and CM Punk but the only thing that stopped him was the long, grueling training process that goes hand in hand with being a UFC fighter.

He had this to say in the interview

“There was a time there where I thought, man, I achieved everything I wanted to achieve in WWE, my movie career is floundering a little bit, what do I do? I was relatively still young, I think I was 34. I thought, oh well maybe UFC. Maybe I should do something like that”.

“In my head, I felt like it was at least a two-year process for me to even get in the [Octagon], let alone the UFC. I wasn’t quite too sure what to do or what kind of people to put around me at the time, so the idea kind of fizzled out and I continued to stay on the path of movie making”.

Now granted The Rock is a bit of a legend of mine I’m not quite sure if making the move to UFC would have been the write move for him after he left the WWE and I’m probably guessing that at the moment he is thinking the same thing. After his role in Fast and Furious 5 launched his movie career in the right direction and he is now appeared in  moire of these movies along with movies such GI Joe – Retaliation and Hercules. This also coupled with the fact that The Rock is now the highest grossing actor in Hollywood.

He is also know as a big fan of the UFC and will be be tuning in to watch Brock Lesnar take on Mark Hunt at UFC 200 but is torn on who he wants to win after reading Mark Hunts autobiography.

Stu’s Track Of The Week 17/06/16

rsz_hqdefault

So it’s that time again for my track of the week and this week I have gone for Slipknot – Wait And Bleed. This track comes from the bands debut self titled album released back in 1999 and peaked at number 34 on the American Billboard Hot Mainstream Rock Tracks Chart.

The meaning behind the song is as follows.

“Wait and Bleed” is about a man who keeps getting repetitive black and white dreams about laying in a bathtub full of his own blood with his wrists cut. One day, the man wakes up and sees that his dreams have become a reality, but he doesn’t want to believe it and he attempts to fall back asleep again.

There are two music videos for “Wait and Bleed”; the first, directed by Thomas Mignone, features footage of a live performance of the song filmed during the band’s appearance at Ozzfest on September 1, 1999 with the studio track overdubbed. The second, known as the “Claymation version”, depicts all nine band members as small, animated, doll-like creatures inside a laboratory inhabited by a man who is attempting to catch them. Eventually, the band cause the man to fall over and be stung by insects dropping from a jar. As the band looks over the man, Chris Fehn‘s doll covers him in fuel before seeing all 9 band members looking at him, Shawn Crahan then sets the man alight, killing him.

So here we are turn up loud and bang your head Maggots to Slipknot – Wait And Bleed

Sir Patrick Stewart Confirms Role In Wolverine 3

rsz_professor-x-patrick-stewart-talks-wolverine-3

So it has now been confirmed that Sir Patrick Stewart will be reprising his role as Professor X in Hugh Jackmans final outing as James Logan Hewitt aka Wolverine.

Stewart announced the news via his Twitter account calling it the ‘worst kept secret’ because over the last year Stewart and the producers have been talking about his involvement.

Producer Hutch Parker confirmed the casting a day earlier to Collider after Jackman has previously given details about the plot.

“I’ll be really honest with you, the actual script in it’s full form we’re up to about Page 60” Hugh explained.

“Obviously there’s a treatment, so it’s not fully done yet, we’re not fully there. Patrick does figure in it that’s for sure. I think it’s a really important relationship but I want to see signs of that quasi-father/son sort of relationship that has not been seen before, and sides of particularly Professor X that have not been seen before. So we have some really, really cool ideas.”

We are still unsure to actually what time frame the movie will be based in as we have been teased with an old man Logan timeline further along in Logan’s life where he has a family and the world is broken into territories run by super villains or the latest one where the title of the film was leaked of Weapon X which may mean the story takes place sooner than we had thought.

This film could also be the last time we see Stewart take up the role as Professor X as he does not appear in X-Men Apocalypse.

Stu’s Track Of The Week 09/06/16

rsz_tim_mcilrath_prayer_of_the_refugee_lyrics_by_echelonmars14-d4nh9ok

This weeks track of the week  comes from Rise Against and the song Prayer Of The Refugee from the album ‘The Sufferer & The Witness’.

The song begins with a conversation between a refugee and his son. The refugee talks about the good life he, and his people, once had, but no longer do. The chorus is the refugee calling out, saying not to help him, as carrying himself is all he has left. He says that all those who have tried to “help” in the past have merely let him down again.

The next verse is about how these refugees are quietly trying to change the world in the background, in subtle ways. In the final verse, he tells the son to step out and change the world for the better.

The song was certified platinum on the 15th of July 2013 making it the second song from the band to go platinum after Savior. The song also appeared on Guitar Hero III Legends Of Rock as a bonus track and Rock Band along side 2 more of the bands songs Savior and Re-Education (Through Labor).

So here is it my track of the week Rise Against – Prayer Of The Refugee

New Wolverine Film Gets Interesting Title

rsz__1465322304

So news broke today that the next installment and Hugh Jackmans final appearance as Wolverine may have finally been given a title – Weapon X now those of you who know and love Wolverine as much as me knows that this title ties into the experiment that gave Wolverine his Adamantium skeleton.

Now this throws in a curve ball to the mix as there have been a fair few rumors around the film being linked to the Old Man Logan story from the comic books. This could just be a title that may mean Logan finally finds closure of what was done to him as we saw at the end of X-Men Days Of Futures Past Wolverine was taken away by a young William Stryker who we know was responsible for enlisting Logan into the Weapon X program. But this could also make a lot of sense as it has been rumored that X-23 a female clone of Wolverine (Has the Weapon X program been started up again?) it may fall to Wolverine to be the only one capable of stopping this.

Once again this give us more questions than answers to exactly what story line the film is actually going to be following or it could mean that they will be taking influences from a few of the different story arcs and then tying them together. It appears we will have to wait and see until the next batch of rumors to see if any of the information coming out can be cleared up.

Brock Lesnar Returns For UFC 200

rsz_brock-lesnar-ufc-141.jpg

So it has been announced today that Brock Lesnar will be returning to the UFC for his first fight since his loss to Alistair Overeem back in December 2011 at UFC 141. Lesnar will be taking on Mark Hunt at UFC 200 and here is what he had to say about finding out his opponent.

“Why not? It could be anybody. I didn’t care,” Lesnar said of the announcement. “If Dana White called me and said, ‘You have opponent X, Y, and Z, who do you want?’ He never gave me those options. This is the guy that we want you to face, I said, ‘Great. This is what I’m going to do.'”

Lesnar record in the UFC before illness forced to retire from the Ocatgon included a 4-3 streak and a 2 time defense of his Heavyweight title. Mark Hunt is currently on a 2 fight winning streak both via knock out his latest being a first round knock out of Frank Mir.

The UFC 200 even is due to take place on the 9th of July at the Las Vegas T-Mobile centre. The event will feature the light heavy weight title unification fight between Jon ‘Bones@ Jones and Daniel Corimer.

Stu’s Track Of The Week 01/06/16

rsz_-longview-green-day-12843020-768-576.jpg

So it’s time again for my track of the week and this weeks selection comes in the form of Greenday’s – Longview. Once again the song hits the spot for me due to the bass line written by Mike Drint Whilst high on LSD this confirmed by the bassist himself and singer/guitarist Billie Joe Armstrong during an interview.

The song was the forth track on the album title Dookie and the song describes intense boredom, lyrically the song is about a day of sitting around the house doing absolutely nothing, masturbating and smoking weed until it is no longer fun. The song was name after the city Longview in Washington where it was first preformed in 1992. The band had already written the song before arriving in the city.

Here are some quotes from the band on the concept for the song

“It’s about boredom, and smoking dope.” – Billie Joe Armstrong[8]

“I guess it was just living in the suburbs in a sort of shit town where you can’t even pull in a good radio station. I was living in Rodeo, California, about 20 minutes outside of Oakland. There was nothing to do there, and it was a real boring place.” – Billie Joe Armstrong in an interview in Guitar Legends magazine, May 2005.

“When Billie gave me a shuffle beat for Longview, I was frying on acid so hard. I was laying up against the wall with my bass lying on my lap. It just came to me. I said, “Billie, check this out. Isn’t this the wackiest thing you’ve ever heard?” Later, it took me a long time to be able to play it, but it made sense when I was on drugs.” – Mike Dirnt in Rolling Stone magazine, 1995.

So that’s it from me I hope you all enjoy this weeks selection and I’ll see you all again next week for my next installment. As always stick with @Deadpool_1984 for all your alternative music needs.

Leaked ‘Thor: Ragnarok’ Details Emerge

rsz_ragnarok

So this morning I have found out that 3 unique bits of information have been leaked surrounding the new ‘Thor – Ragnarok’ movie which is also set to feature the return of Mark Ruffalo as The Hulk. It appears that the story arc will also be absorbing some of the Planet Hulk story line and I for one am very pleased about this as I love reading that story arc. So here’s what we found out from from the leaked information from Joblo.

1) We will see some sort of link to the Planet Hulk story arc that ran in comic book form back in 2006 where the ‘Illuminati’ decided that The Hulk was to dangerous to stay on Earth and tricked him into boarding a space craft before being launched into space. They had decided to send him to a peaceful planet in order to live out his remaining days but the ship was diverted and The Hulk ended up crashing landing on Warworld.

rsz_planet-hulk-2010-1-why-a-live-action-planet-hulk-movie-would-be-great-for-marvel-studios-jpeg-60218

Kevin Feige has always insisted that it would not be a bright idea to do a Planet Hulk movie for some strange reason as I for one would love to have seen it he also had this to say on the matter last year when speaking to IGN.

“I think what’s cool about the Planet Hulk story is it’s all Hulk. He’s a gladiator, he’s fighting all these creatures on another world. Yes, some of those creatures show up in [Guardians of the Galaxy], which makes people think, ‘Oh, maybe it could exist.’ And maybe it could exist, someday. I don’t think that’s the first place we would go though for the very reason that you stated, which is, if we were ever able to do a standalone Hulk movie, 60 percent of the fun would be seeing Mark Ruffalo leading a Marvel movie — and that’s what we would do if we ever went down that road.”

In the Planet Hulk story line we see The Hulk become a Gladiator fighting all kinds of creatures from all kinds of different places but the most noticeable person he fights is the Silver Surfer. We also know that Jeff Goldblum is set to play The Grandmaster  in this movie who is a villain who enjoys pitting superheroes against each other so this also adds fuel to the story we will see bits of the Planet Hulk story arc. Joblo have also said that we will even see The Hulk appear in his iconic gladiator armor from the comic books.

rsz_leaked-plot-details-for-thor-ragnarok-including-one-incredible-arc-the-hulk-eventua-998123

2) According to Joblo we also know that Thor is also searching for the ultimate weapon to reset the universe and that his quest will initially see Thor fighting and then teaming up with The Hulk. We are not 100% sure what the weapon will be but they seem to think it may be the Time Gem which will link Thor: Ragnarok to the Infinity Gems plot line that is building up in the Avengers movies. Having possession of this Gem will litteraly allow Thor to control time and reset the universe.

rsz_will-thor-3-ragnarok-set-the-stage-for-avengers-infinity-war-the-infinity-stones-and-w-919853

3) We can also expect to see some majorly dramatic changes in this film according to Joblo’s more random spoilers:

“And speaking of appearances, expect a major change in the look of The God of Thunder himself for this part of the film as he will be sporting a shaved head (but not completely bald) for at least a portion of the film. Also, expect a very different look for Tessa Thompson’s Valkyrie, who is traditionally a blonde-haired warrior type in the comics. For Ragnarok she’ll be wearing war paint on her face, much like a Native American warrior, which should be an interesting take on this variation of the character.”

rsz_tessa-thompson-valkyrie

So there we go I cannot wait for more information on this story line and if these rumors come true this film could be up there with the best in the MCU universe.
