Vin Diesel’s Riddick Comes To Tv

Riddick

A Riddick tv show? This could be DAMN good or DAMN bad – Skatronixxx

Only last week, action icon Vin Diesel revealed plans are in the works to make spin-off films of the inexplicably successful Fast and Furious franchise. But it seems that the American actor is not content to stop there, announcing the return of another franchise on his resume.

Via his Instagram account, Diesel announced a TVs series set in the fictional sci-fi world of Riddick is to be made. Titled Merc City the show ‘will follow the Mercs and Bounty hunters of the Riddick Universe’ and will be produced internally by Diesels own production company One Race Films.

Little details have been released alongside the announcement but the Riddick actor did confirm that David Twohy has started work on the third sequel in the Chronicle of Riddick anthology.

The character of Riddick spawn from the sci-fi horror film Pitch Black directed by Twohy and released in 2000. The film saw a handful of misfit humans crash land on a seemingly lifeless desert planet only for them to start being hunted by alien monsters that crave the dark.

The character of Riddick proved so popular with audiences that Vin Diesel returned to portray the Furyan in a further two sequels, The Chronicles of Riddick and Riddick.

Fans of the sci-fi series will be craving for Diesel to appear in the new Tv show but we will have to wait and see if that will be possible with the actors franchise duties keeping him busy.

Andy Serkis is a man of many faces, the talented actor has brought to life some of cinemas lasting characters. From Gollum in The Lord of the Rings to resistance fighter Cesar in the new Planet of the Apes franchise. Serkis has been at the forefront of motion capture acting in modern cinema.

But now the actor shares with Empire magazine that his role of Supreme Leader Snoke in the new Star Wars film was a scary experience. ‘It was quite an unusual situation’, explained Serkis revealing his characters impressive height. ‘My first day was basically standing on a 25-foot podium doing Lord Snoke without the faintest idea of what he looked like or in fact who he was.’

The actor further revealed that he worked closely alongside Adam Driver and Domhnall Gleeson who are known to be the films primary antagonist as the New Orders lieutenants Kylo Ren and General Hux. ‘I was very high up, totally on my own, away from everybody else, but acting with them.’

Beside the characters King Kong like size, of which Serkis has more than enough experience in dealing with. The British actor further elaborated on his characters appearance and persona explaining: ‘He is severely damaged. Although he is a powerful leader, he comes across as vulnerable. Very scarred and disfigured.’

Serkis also gave an insight on how he coped with the characters size, revealing: ‘we used sort of a ‘Kongizer‘ method of having sound come out of speakers to give a sense of scale and distance from the character.’ The King Kong actor further added: ‘it was very challenging and scary, in fact probably one of the most scary film experiences I’ve ever had.’

With images of Sekis’ Supreme Leader Snoke unavailable at present so we will have to wait with anticipation for how he looks when the film is released next month. I can’t wait.

Ryan Gosling Will ‘Explode’ Over His Bladerunner 2 Role

Exploding Ryan Gosling? *gets umbrella* – Skatronixxx

The controversial announcement that Ridley Scott would produce a sequel to sci-fi cult classic Blade Runner was met with bemused expressions and a general consensus of fans asking ‘why?’

That however doesn’t seem to have deride Ryan Gosling who announced in an interview with Collider that he has sign on for an undisclosed role on the Scott-Produced sequel.

The Drive actor was tight lipped but did reveal that director Dennis Villeneuve and cinematography Roger Deakins involvement with the project played a major role on him signing on the dotted line. Gosling also indicated that the script also factored into his decision.

When pressed for further information on Blade Runner 2’s story or whether Harrison Ford would be involved. The actor remained composed, coyly quipping ‘there’s a chip in me and if I say anything more I’ll explode if I say anything else.’

With that in mind, I’m starting the ‘save Gosling’ campaign. Stop asking the man questions Hollywood, his pretty face is on the line.

Top ‘Hollywood’ A-Listers In Talks For Justice League Dark

Could Constantine be coming onto the big screen? – Skatronixxx

Justice League Dark fans were excited to learn earlier this fall that the long gestating DC comic book adaptation was finally going into production. The hype is sure to continue with casting rumours surfacing for two of the characters on the mystical team.

Sources close to Latino Review have commented that Warner Bros. are looking for an ‘A-list talent’ to take on the role of British warlock John Constantine. The character from the long running Hellblazer comics has appeared on the big screen before with Keanu Reeves as the titular hero. It appears that Reeves won’t be asked back given the failure of the solo Constantine film but rather True Detective star Colin Farrell has been tapped as a possible candidate to fill the iconic rain jacket and tie.

It should also be mention that Obi-Wan Kenobi himself Ewan McGregor has also been considered for the role which is interesting given that he was also a front runner for Marvels Doctor Strange before Benedict Cumberbatch ultimately won the role. Poor Ewan, always the bridesmaid never the bride.

On the female front, Monica Bellucci who recently set hearts racing alongside Daniel Craig in SPECTRE. Is reportedly up for the role of Madame Xanadu, a sorceress with connections to Arthurian legend and is regarded in the New 52 continuity as a love interest for Jason Blood, a human who is the host for Etrigan the Demon.

I think this would be WAY better than the ‘other’ Justice League – Skatronixxx

A casting call has also gone out for a ‘comedic presence’ for the character Deadman and a ‘Hispanic/black’ actress for Zatanna, who has been known to have passionate and antagonistic relationship with Constantine in the comics.

As previous reports have indicated, Filmmaker and writer Guillermo Del Toro is still on board with the project having written the screenplay but is no-longer directing the Dark Universe film. He however will produce the feature and had expressed his desire for Hellboy actor Ron Pearlman to inhabit the role of Swamp Thing for his film.

Ron Pearlman as Swamp Thing? That could work – Skatronixxx

The films team are expected to ‘co-exist with the main Justice League team, much like how Marvel’s Guardian’s of the Galaxy operate individually from the Avengers.’ Also like Marvel’s Infinity War, it is assumed that the Justice League and the Dark Universe team will team up further down the line.

Vin Diesel Considers Spin-Offs To ‘The Fast And Furious’ Franchise

domtoretto.png

Could Dominic Toretto be about to get his own spin-off movie? – Skatronixxx

The Fast and Furious franchise has proven, if anything, its relentless. Coming back from time served in movie jail after the less than stellar performance of the 3rd film in the franchise, Tokyo Drift in 2006. The series returned with Fast and Furious which re-gained a cult following resulting in a strong and critical acclaimed sequel in the form of Fast Five, with Six materialising soon after. The well published loss of Paul Walker during the production for Fast and Furious 7, a well beloved actor and character, would have seen the end of even the most respected franchise. But not Fast and Furious.

So it’s with little surprise that franchise mainstay, Vin Diesel, anticipates that the series is strong enough to spawn spins-off films as well. Creating an Avenger like universe where characters can exist alongside the core films but have adventures of their own.

This franchise is a movie heavyweight – Skatronixxx

‘We’ve written out storylines for various characters,’ revealed Diesel in an interview with Variety. ‘We’ve been playing with it for a long time. It’s a very rich property and we’re committed to treating it with a lot of class.’

Little information regarding story and characters were revealed in the conversation but the eighth sequel in the franchise has already found its director in the form of Straight Outta Compton’s (2015) F. Gary Gray. Fast and Furious 8 is expected to be the first of a final trilogy of films with Diesel explaining that ‘Universal has been so good to me and so trusting of the vision… they have been like family… I promised the studio I would deliver one last Trilogy to end the saga.’

These reports of further Fast and Furious spin-offs certainly muddies the water as to what constitutes a ‘final’ instalment of a franchise that has defied the odds on numerous occasions. But with the cash-cow that is the pedal-to-the-metal series for Universal, don’t be surprised to see Dominic Toretto and Co. continue their adventures well after Fast and Furious 10.

Bryan Singer In Talks To Direct The Next X-Men Movie

bryansinger

Try and hard as you want Brian you can never move that helmet with your mind – Skatronixxx

Bryan Singer has recently mentioned that his next X-Men film is the final in the First Class trilogy that started with Matthew Vaughn’s X-Men First Class starring James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender as younger versions of Professor Charles Xavier and Magneto. What this means for the mutant series going forward is unclear. Besides the next Gambit film currently in pre-production, we have only heard tentative news of a planned X-Force film in the immediate future.

News today revealing that Singer will in fact return to film the next feature in Marvel and Fox’s film franchise, will raise some interesting questions as the nature of the story and the characters involved. Given that X-Men Apocalypse is set in the 90’s and feature many younger versions of characters from the first three X-Men films.

I’m sorry but he still looks like Ivan Oooze – Skatronixxx

News via Heroic Hollywood indicates that the director could begin production late next year with shooting intended to begin in early 2017. The production will be taking place at Mel’s studio in Montreal where currently X-Men Apocalypse is under going reshoots that many anticipate are in order to shoehorn Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine into the picture.

Fox reportedly struck a deal with Singer soon after initial production ended on Apocalypse with the directors reasoning for a return being that he ‘likes the city.’

With details sketchy as to what Singers next X-Men film will entail. Previous reports have indicated that Fassbender and McAvoy could return for further X-Men films in the future. Could the next film simply be a sequel to the current trilogy?

For now X-Men Apocalypse is scheduled for released on May 27, 2016 with the premiere of the first trailer expected to show before Star Wars The Force Awakens. You just got another reason to see the biggest film of the year.

Princess Leia Organa Earns Her Stripes In The Force Awakens

leia
I wouldn’t want to cross her – Skatronixxx

The Star Wars Galaxy first lady Princess Leia Organa will shed the ‘princess’ in her title for a new moniker. Befitting of the feisty and snarky personality that we fell in love with in the original trilogy, the battle harden war veteran seems to have earned her stripes, ladies and gentlemen, meet General Leia Organa.

Star Wars Director JJ. Abrams told Entertainment Weekly “She’s referred to as General, but … there’s a moment in the movie where a character sort of slips and calls her ‘Princess.’ It would appear that General Leia takes the lead in the latest war against The Empire or The New Order as they are known now. No stranger to conflict, the brash Leia would often order around Luke Skywalker and Han Solo, uttering the famous line ‘Outta my way, you scruffy-looking Nerf-herder!’

Abrams also revealed: ‘The stakes are pretty high in the story for her, so there’s not much goofing around where Leia’s concerned. But it felt historic to have her, especially with Harrison, back in scenes together. I can only imagine the baggage that they bring to it, I’m just a fan who loves this stuff, but they’ve been living with it — and living in it — since ’77.’

In the same issue, actress Carrie Fisher discuss the emotions of stepping back into the twin-bund role that made her a household name and reuniting with old friends: ‘I think we’re pretty sick of each other by now, so we pretend to be interested in each other between takes. And we fail. I’m mostly interested in how [Ford] stays in such good shape. I can talk to him about that for a long time.’

Fisher also revealed that Leia is “under a lot of pressure” this time around, teasing a ‘heavier’ storyline for The Force Awakens. The actress quips that she is ‘committed as ever to her cause’, despite ‘feeling somewhat defeated, tired, and pissed.’

As we should come to expect, that the characters we knew have evolved over time, so while we know that Leia is in charge of The Resistance army what about Luke and Han? With so many questions left unanswered, Star Wars The Force Awakens couldn’t be closer yet so far away.

New Details Revealed For ‘The Huntsman: Winter’s War’ … And Posters

huntmas

So that’s what Thor got upto on his student summers – Skatronixxx

Do you remember that hack n’ slash fantasy film that was vaguely inspired by the classic fairytale Snow White? Okay, what about that film which was meant to be a launching pad for Kristen Stewart after the Twilight Saga finished? Nope … fine, remember that film where Director Rupert Sanders got caught having an extramarital affair with his leading lady Kristen Stewart, effectively axing his freshman entry into the movie business? Snow White and the Huntsman, that film … you got it.

Well that film got a sequel without its Snow White, effectively making it a film about the Huntsman played by a returning Chris Hemsworth. In Huntsman: Winter’s War, we will also see Charlize Theron return as Queen Ravenna, easily the best thing about the first film. Who is resurrected after her untimely end by her sister Freya-The Ice Queen played by Emily Blunt. As the two evil sisters set in motion a series of events to take over the world, it is left to the Huntsman and fellow warrior Sara (Jessica Chastain) to stop the deadly duo.

‘The Warrior’ ? what a name haha – Skatronixxx

The film will also give us details on the Huntsman origins, as a majority of the film will take place ‘long before the evil Queen Ravenna (Theron) was thought vanquished by Snow White’s blade.’ Her sister Freya, having fled the kingdom, is ‘raising a legion of deadly huntsmen,’ including one named Eric (Hemsworth) and a warrior named Sara (Chastain).

Directed by Cedric Nicolas-Troyan, Huntsman: Winter’s War is scheduled for release in theatres on
April 22, 2016.

The Flash And Arrow’s Second Crossover Event Will Be Bigger Than Ever

flarrow.png

It seems like everyone is a superhero except me *pouts* – Skatronixxx

Just last week I mentioned in an article with Arrow writer Marc Guggenheim, that the upcoming Arrow-Flash crossover would exist as two stand alone episodes for both shows. As well as laying groundwork for CWs new show The Legends of Tomorrow.

Recent reveals via Twitter, including candid shots from the set, reveal that a team of up to nine superheroes will be involved in only the second crossover event since both shows went into production.

In a conversation with comic book.com, the Green Arrow himself Stephen Amell commented: ‘We shot a scene that had, like, nine superheroes in it’ further adding ‘Nine people with either powers or super-suits. It was an amazing thing to look out over the scene and see the world that has been built over the course of three-plus years.’

Much like Marvels cinematic universe, DC and The CW have carved out a niche in the market for both the ardent and causal superhero fan, with The Legends of Tomorrow presenting an opportunity to create a truly interactive universe of which movies can’t easily do.

On the crossover itself, Amell expressed that ‘these two crossover episodes standing together will probably be, in my mind, the pinnacle achievement for both shows.’ The Flash, Grant Gustin, also added: ‘I feel like more people are a part of it this year from both sides, and we’re tying in Legends, obviously, so it’s just bigger.’

With all three shows existing in the same universe, us fans will ultimately be spoilt with the interwoven storylines that may present themselves. With John Constantine only just popping up in Arrow, what now stops that cheeky bugger from show hoping across all three, and vice versa for those new heroes and villains to come.

They made a MASSIVE mistake cancelling Constantine – Skatronixxxx

With Neal McDonough already confirming that his villainous character Damien Darhk will appear in an upcoming episode of The Legends of Tomorrow. It seems possible that the new series big-bad Vandal Savage may also cause trouble for other shows as well.

The crossover episodes of Arrow and The Flash will air on December 1 and 2 on The CW, which will bring together a new team of heroes before The Legends of Tomorrow debuts in 2016.

Rooney Mara Is Still On Board For Dragon Tattoo Sequel

 rooneymara

I actually think the ‘non Americanised’ version is better – Skatronixxx

Contrary to recent reports, Rooney Mara, star of David Fincher’s adaptation of Stieg Larsson’s The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, claims that she is still on board with the planned reboot of the stagnant franchised based on the popular Millennium novel series.

In an interview with E! online, Mara was quoted as stating: ‘As far as I know I’m doing it until someone tells me otherwise. I’m doing it unless someone tells me that I’m not—and then I still might do it.’ Considering that in the past Mara has expressed her desire to slip back into the leather pants of heroine Lisbeth Salander for the planned sequel based on the second book in the series, The Girl who played with Fire. It’s not surprising that although the sequel was delayed in late 2012, she would be all in for a return to the role that was met with critical acclaim.

Reports released earlier this month however indicated that Sony were interested in taking the franchise in a new direction, effectively rebooting the thriller series. The next film, The Girl in the Spider’s Web, would apparently not be a direct sequel to the Fincher film given that Sony have already been courting Ex Machina’s Alicia Vikander to assume the role originally made famous by Noomi Rapace in the Swedish films.

Following the death of Stieg Larsson, the writer of the first three books in the Millennium series, in 2004. The Girl in the Spider’s Web was written by crime author David Lagercrantz based on the characters created by Larsson. The book was released in August 2015, reaching the top of the U.S bestseller list early that month.
