He’s Back, Our Handsome Devil Returns in Lucifer SN2 EP1 “Everything’s Coming Up Lucifer”

lucifer-season-2

Our Handsome Devil last night (Monday 19th Sept 2016) returned to our screens and I don’t mind telling you it was the highlight of my Monday evening, even though that makes me sound incredibly old and boring. Don’t know about you little devils, but I am really looking forward to seeing where this season will take us, especially with the addition of new characters. Thought it would be a good idea to refresh our minds and recap where we left Lucifer in episode 13.

Recap Season 1 Episode 13

SN1 EP13 – “Take Me Back to Hell”

Lucifer (Tom Ellis) is framed for the murder of Jacob Williams (Even Arnold), Chole (Lauren German) orders Lucifer to come peacefully, but he refuses and says she is just like the rest of them and invites them to shoot him. Lucifer confronts a rookie and reaches into his pocket, the rookie panics, and shoots. Lucifer disappears, and Chole sends offers to search the area. Lucifer finds himself on the roof with Amenadiel ( D.B. Woodside). Lucifer complains that Amenadiel has ruined things yet again and tells him he is done with earth and for Amenadiel to take him back to Hell.

Malcolm (Kevin Rankin) arrives as the CSI team is bagging and tagging evidence at Lux and confronts Dan (Kevin Alejandro) about what happened to Lucifer and is told that he just disappeared and is now on the run. Chloe pulls Dan aside and expresses that she believes Lucifer is innocent, however Dan isn’t convinced. When an officer finds what appears to be the murder weapon, Dan figures that Lucifer’s prints will be on the gun… but he’s innocent. Chole finds out that Dan was the one who shot Malcolm and that he did it to protect her. Lucifer and Amenadiel are on the hunt to find Malcolm which leads them to a funeral home. Chole and Maze (Lesley-Ann Brandt) go to Malcolm’s house and break in , when they suddenly they find themselves under fire, the shooter is Malcolm’s wife who said he has changed since coming back to life.

Lucifer and Amenadiel head to the brewery and split up to cover more ground, Malcolm finds Amenadiel and stabs him with the demon dagger  which he took from Lux. Lucifer arrives and Amenadiel collapses and tells Lucifer to go after Malcolm, Maze shows up and realizes that Amenadiel was attacked with one of her blades. Maze uses a feather she took from Lucifer’s wings to heal Amenadiel. Dan turns himself in and Chole get a call and Malcolm has Trixie, and if she wants her back alive then he wants his money back. Chole meets him alone at the hangar, She gets Trixie back and tells her to hide till she can come find her again. A paper airplane lands at Malcolm’s feet allowing Chole to run off,  Malcolm shoots Lucifer and as he is dying he talks to God and says he will do whatever he wants as long as Chole is protected. Lucifer finds himself back in hell and he walks through the corridors to a room,  and he realizes that it’s open, with that he is returned to the hanger floor and finds Chole who has pumped Malcolm full of bullets. Lucifer shaken by what he has seen goes home to find Amenadiel snoring on the couch but no sign of Maze, he tells his brother someone has escaped Hell…. Who has escaped Lucifer?  He replies…. Mom!

Clearly distracted by Moms escape from hell, Lucifer (Tom Ellis) and Amenadiel (D.B. Woodside) gate crash a robbery in progress at a high-end jewelry store, thinking it could be Mommy dearest. The brothers have compiled a list of people who have died recently, thinking that Mom has entered a human form and is in Los Angles somewhere. Lucifer sees goes to see  Dr. Martin (Rachael Harris), he worried that his Mom Charlotte (Tricia Helfer) is going to kill him now she is free. He tells Dr. Martin that when he was kicked out by Dad (God), his Mom stood by and did nothing, so naturally when Dad kicked Mom out, Lucifer stood by and did nothing in return.

Chloe (Lauren German) and Lucifer are on a movie set to investigate a murder. Chole still can’t understand how Lucifer can still be standing in front of her after what she  witnessed. Lucifer tells Chloe that he needs her help with a woman hunt, but he quickly realizes that he is too late when they reach the victim’s body. The victim has metal bars coming out of her skull that resembles horns so naturally, Lucifer thinks it Mommy dearest doing. The new medical examiner Ella Lopez (Amiee Garcia) confirms the victim was strangled and killed first, the metal bars were added in her head to send a message.

Chloe and Lucifer find out that Amy Dods (Jessica Sula) overdosed  the day before and brought back to life, immediately Lucifer thinks his Mom has taken over Amy Dods body. Lucifer returns home to find Amenadiel drinking a whiskey and feeling sorry for himself, Lucifer tells him he has found Mom,  and goes on to say that the detective is finally going to know who I really am….Amenadiel asks how?  he replies she has my blood. Amenadiel’s not impressed and tells Lucifer to deal with Mom and he will deal with the other mess, so he sneaks into the cop station to nick the blood sample…. but his time-freezing powers went a little AWOL. Perhaps a result of cheating his own death?

Amenadiel needs to put Chloe off Lucifer’s scent, so he decides to confront her with the “truth” about Lucifer, but she needs to see it understand it. Amenadiel fires a gun into his stomach while standing in front of her…but then revealing a bulletproof  vest and blood pack. He went on to say that because of their rough childhood, Lucifer created his “Devil” persona as a way of coping, and his “power” is one “of suggestion”. Lucifer sees Dr. Martin again and tells her a little more of his family From Mom and Dad getting together resulting  in “the Big Bang” to Dad’s tinkering with humanity in the shed (the Garage), to Lucifer being neglected and kicked out of the home. And as Mom did nothing when his was kicked out, he decided to sit back and do nothing when Mom was kicked out as well.

The prodigal demon Maze resurfaces just in time to kick some ass, When asked about her disappearing act she isn’t very forthcoming with information, her disappearance coincided with Mom’s escape…. Did Maze let her free? It appears not but how surprised she was to learn mother dearest had escaped. The only thing Maze said of her disappearance is that she was with a friend who is helping her sort through her own issues, now they are stuck on Earth. Lucifer serenades us on the ivory with “All Along The Watch Tower” he’s hot and he can sing! We find out who Maze confidant is, and yes it is Dr. Martin. Lucifer get an uninvited guest to his surprise its Mom, she stumbles forward with a  dagger in hand and covered in blood, Mom collapses in his arms as she gasps “help… me…”

James Cordens Apple Ad is Something to be Seen!

corden3-e1474287435778

James Corden the Late Late Show host was nominated for an Emmy award, he appeared in a Carpool Karaoke with host Jimmy Kimmel during the intro to the show and he debuted a new Apple Music ad in which Cordon is pitching some predictably terrible ideas to Apple executives Jimmy lovine, Eddy Cue and Bozoma Saint John. Cordon Dressing up as Slash, David Bowie , the Spice Girls and Pharrell to sell hs concepts to the unimpressed Apple executives however he looses the executives when in a commercial Corden helps out a thirsty child with an iPhone instead of water. “why don’t you give him water?” Asks and exasperated lovine.

“What if I’m giving birth to Justin Bieber, who’s giving birth to Anthony Kiedis, who’s giving birth to a phone?” Cordon asks the Apple executives. Not so much. Okay, better yet, Cordon as every iconic musician on your Apple Music Playlist?

Check it out below

Apple has ordered 16 episodes of Corden’s Carpool Karaoke, which will stream first exclusively on the service.

Presh Headed To Her First Oz Comic-Con In Brisbane At The Weekend -Sunday 18th September 2016

fb_img_1474239594118

So yesterday (18th September 2016) I embarked on my first ever Comic-Con and attended Oz Comic-Con in Brisbane and having been my first one I really had no idea of what to expect, but I can tell you it was certainly opening experience! I went in knowing two things…. The first is that there would be Harley Quinn’s as far as the eye could see and the second is that it would be the same for Deadpool and I was right (that doesn’t happen often) but I tell you some of the Cosplay that I seen was absolutely mind-blowing, elaborate, creative and beautiful. Brisbane hosted on Sunday the final of the Australian Cosplay Champion But is wasn’t all about the cosplay, Oz Comic-Con goers in Brisbane were treated to the unveiling of the new Star Wars Rogue One Death Troopers.

Being my first Comic-Con it wouldn’t be right not to sit in on a Q & A panel, the first one was Devon Murray who played Seamus Finnigan in the Harry Potter Movies, he was so funny and had us in the palm of his hand, even though he said he was socially awkward at the start of the panel but he did a great job and kept us very entertained with his antics. I got to catch the first bit of Ksenia Solo’s panel who most of you would know her as Mackenzie “Kenzi ” Malikov from lost girl, she was great and really down to earth and would have loved to stay to the end of her panel however the Australian Cosplay Champion was kicking off.

The Brisbane heat was held first and there were some amazing competers but unfortunately there could only be one winner and that Lumin Cosplay, then the winner from each states faced off in the Australian Cosplay Champion Final.
The state finalists were: Astrokerrie Cosplay (perth), Lilla Bee Cosplay (Adelaide), Artemis Costuming (Melbourne), Henchwench (Sydney) and Lumin Cosplay (Brisbane).

picsart_09-19-10-46-39

All of them were just incredibly intricate and the thought, planing and crafting that went into them is just massive, but again there could only be one winner and the Australian Champion of Cosplay 2016 winner was: Henchwench (Sydney).

Henchwench will now go on to compete on the world stage at C2E2 2017, taking on Cosplayers from across the globe in the Crown Championship of Cosplay!

As I mentioned above yesterday the Star Wars Death Trooper Replicas from the highly anticipated Rogue One: A Star Wars Story were revealed. The Death Troopers are based on original concept designs from A New Hope, by Joe Johnston and Ralph McQuarrie, and are making their Star Wars debut in Rogue One.

picsart_09-19-10-01-41

“Rogue One” tells the story of a group of unlikely heroes, who in a time of conflict band together on a mission to steal the plans to the Death Star, the Empire’s ultimate weapons of destruction. This key event in the Star Wars timeline brings together ordinary people who choose to do extraordinary things, and in doing so, become part of something greater than themselves.

Rogue One os in cinemas December 15th.

Nick – Druid

Nick

Nick The Druid – Nick made this by hand!! He said that he had planned to be a Druid and started to make each item in separate projects for it to eventually come together. I was just totally in awe, and the effort and craftmanship that went into this was just amazing, he looked like he had just walked off a movie set!

Awesome Oldies Cosplay – Queen of Hearts & Dr. Strange

Queen of Hearts and Dr. Strange were my stand outs and the work that went into them was again mind-blowing, they made absolutely everything you see, they are a husband and wife team and their son also cosplayers with them as well. They were Cosplaying before it cool, and they make absolutely everything from the clothes with all the tiny details, to the props  with the 3D printer. The detail in the clothing alone are intricate and beautiful and the you add in the props that are just as intricate and incredible. Take the anatomical heart for example, it was done on the 3D printer and I have to say it just looked awesome! These guys are incredibly  talented and such lovely people to take the time to have a chat and a photo with me.

American Horror Story SN6 EP1 – ‘Roanoke’

american-horror-story-my-roanoke-nightmare

It’s been a long wait, but finally, the highly anticipated season 6 of American Horror Story aired last night (14th September 2016) which in fact it makes this the first time that series has debuted outside of October in its history. Details about this seasons cast and plot were very far and few between, with everyone keeping tight-lipped and only giving us teasers to let our imaginations run wild on where season 6 would take us, so needless to say I had high expectations for last nights premiere for season 6, however, it wasn’t how I expected the first episode to be. It was a little slow off the blocks and both S and I thought it to be a little lack luster given previous seasons of AHS, so I had to watch it again this morning and I can tell you my opinion has changed and it is not as lack luster as I first thought last night, but is still very different to what I had expected/anticipated given the teasers. Ok lets recap the first episode of AHS season 6.

RoanokeSN6-EP1

Roanoke is presented as a paranormal documentary series which is it titled My Roanoke Nightmare, it follows a couple Shelby Miller (Lily Rabe) & Matt Miller (Andre Holland) whose experiences are reenacted by actors (Sarah Paulson as Shelby Miller and Cuba Gooding Jr. as Matt Miller).

ahs-roanoke-1

The Millers move from Los Angeles, California to a house in Roanoke Island, North Carolina following a brutal assault on Matt which the stress also lead to Shelby losing the baby from a miscarriage. As soon as the Millers settle into their new home, it doesn’t take long before strange and paranormal things to begin haunting them. While Matt is out running errands in the next town a few miles away, Shelby is at the house when it suddenly starts to hale…. Wait for it…. TEETH, yes, I’m talking human teeth!! Obviously freaked out about what she has just seen, Shelby tries to tell Matt what she had just experienced but with no evidence of teeth lying around he tries to convince Shelby that it was just a hail storm and that the weather here in Roanoke can take a bit of getting used to.

With Matt needing to go away for work he is reluctant to leave Shelby at the house, however, she insists she will be ok. Later that evening Shelby gets into the hot tub with a nice red and just as she starts to relax….. BANG!! She is pushed and held under the water as she fearless tries to fight back against her attacker, when all of a sudden she is released and able to come up, but there is no one there. She calls the police and Matt, he rushes back and the police tell him there is no evidence of anyone being anywhere near the hot tub or anywhere else, Matt tells the cop he believes it the hillbilly’s that they outbid, for the house that is responsible for the strange things that are happening.

screen-shot-2016-09-14-at-7-18-53-pm-1

Matt needs to return to the hospital where he is hoping to land the account (then he can travel less if he lands them) but he doesn’t want to leave Shelby at home on her own. He calls on his sister Lee (reenacted by Angela Bassett) to come and stay with Shelby until he gets back. The Women don’t particularly like each other, Lee was a cop but was shot in the line of duty and she became addicted to painkillers which eventually lead to her being fired from the force. The Women start arguing, meanwhile, Matt is in his hotel room he get a text and assumes it from Shelby but it’s a notification that the cameras he had set up before he left had been triggered, it was a mob of people with fire torches walking towards the house. Mid-argument Shelby and Lee don’t hear their phone but soon hear noises and go to investigate, the pair is lured to the basement where there was a video playing showing a half man half pig looking figure.

tl-horizontal_main

Matt rushes back and is showed the video, but he reassure’s both Shelby and Lee that is most likely a fake, Shelby no longer wants to live there but they have sunk their life savings into the house and have no other option. Shelby is pissed off that Matt is not listening or believing her and takes off in the car , but she doesn’t get far before she hits what looks like women, she slams the brakes on and get out to check the person is ok, when suddenly she gets up and walks off into the night. Shelby gives chase but ends up getting herself lost and runs into a mob who are carrying fire torches, she can do nothing but stand there as they surround her.

*Note: In the late 16th century, Sir William Raleigh, the explorer after whom the capital of North Carolina would later be named, selected artist John White to lead a group of 115 colonists to start a new colony on Roanoke Island off the coast of what is now Dare County. A previous colony had been established on the island but had been abandoned after its leaders killed the chief of the Native American tribe that had been its primary trade source. After founding the colony in 1587, White returned to England to get more supplies. He hoped he would only be gone for three months, but England’s war with Spain prevented White from returning as all English ships were seized by the government for the war effort.

It wasn’t until 1590 that White returned, and when he did, every single person in the Roanoke colony had disappeared, including his wife, daughter, and granddaughter. The only clue left behind was a word carved in a post: “Croatoan,” the name of a nearby tribe.

Wikipedia – Roanoke Island

Does the word “Croatoan” seem familiar? Well, that’s because it appeared in the very first season of “American Horror Story.” In Episode 11 of that season, a psychic tells a ghost story about an exorcism that happened at Roanoke Colony after all the colonists died. To banish the spirits of the colonists that kept haunting the island, one of the Native American elders performed a ritual that ended with him shouting “Croatoan.”  Perhaps seasons past and present of AHS will all share a common link?

I have a feeling that episode 2 might ramp things a little more. AHS6 episode 2 will air 21st September 2016.  Be sure to follow me @presh81 to stay up to date with all things AHS!!

Check out what’s in store for next weeks episode 2!
