Bob’s Burgers Was Originally About A Family Of Cannibals

wp-1465445556633.png

YES! You read that correctly, Bob’s Burgers was originally ment to be about a family of cannibals. Bob’s Burgers creator Loren Bouchard had originally pitched the show to Fox as a family of Cannibals who also run a restaurant, although Fox wasn’t a big fan of the Cannibalism they still decided to give the show the green light as long as the Cannibalism was dropped from the concept. The pilot episode of the show was actually a nod to the original premise of the Cannibalism, where the Belcher family must convince the health department that they aren’t selling human flesh in their Burgers. The show would’ve worked with the cannibalism given that everything is zombie mad, I know I still would have tuned in.

Bob’s Burgers is one of my all time favorite animated comedies, and has become one of the most beloved animated comedies on the air right now. If you haven’t seen Bob’s Burgers you are really missing out guys! So the show (Bob’s Burgers) is centered around an eccentric family (The Belcher’s) that owns a burger joint. So what makes this show stand out from the others you ask? Well its the crazy characters, the unique and ever so clever plot lines and the jokes. Bob’s Burgers will make you laugh out loud with their crazy and eccentric antics. Oh and keep an eye on the banners above the shops as they change every episode.

wp-1465445616442.jpg

So lets meet The Belcher’s

Bob is the owner of the restaurant and husband to his fun-loving and free spirit wife Linda. Their three children are Tina who is the oldest, Gene they only boy and Louise, the youngest. The kids help around the restaurant when they feel like it or if there is something in it for them.

Louise (youngest) is a precocious menace with plenty of sass who is the instigator of most of the debacles that The Belcher’s find themselves in.

Gene (only boy) is a light-hearted goofy boy who aspires to be a great musician.

Tina (oldest) the most awkward one of the family, but she is full of heart as we watch her awkwardly muddle her way through her pubescent experiences, like waxing her legs and her obsession over the neighborhood boys.

As well as The Belcher’s there are recurring characters throughout the series including Bob’s competition (owns the pizzeria across the street) and enemy  Jimmy Pesto Sr and who’s son Tina is obsessed with Jimmy Jr, Louise’s friends Andy and Olli, The Belcher’s landlord Calvin Fischoeder, Teddy a regular at Bob’s Burgers, Mort the funeral director and Gayle, Linda’s eccentric sister.

Once you watch it you will wonder why you didn’t watch it sooner! I promise you will, be hooked. Below is a video of the ‘Best Bits’ of season 1. Enjoy!

On This Day 9th June 2016

wp-1465432426668.jpg

Welcome back to this weeks edition of On This Day for the 9th June, this week we kick off in 1963 with Roy Orbison, Bob Dylan, Pink Floyd, Bruce Springsteen, Cyndi Lauper and M.C. Hammer featuring in this weeks edition.

1963

🎙 The Beatles on the last night of their tour with Roy Orbison, performed at King George’s Hall, Blackburn, Lancashire. It was during this tour that The Beatles’ fans started throwing jelly babies at them while they were on stage, after an off-the-cuff remark on television that George Harrison enjoyed eating them.

1964

🎙 During an evening session Bob Dylan recorded ‘Mr. Tambourine Man‘ at Columbia Recording Studios in New York City. This was the first session for Another Side Of Bob Dylan, which saw Dylan recording fourteen original compositions that night. The Byrds later recorded a version of ‘Mr. Tambourine‘ Man that was released as their first single and reached No.1 on both the US & UK Charts. The Byrds‘ recording of the song was influential in initiating the musical subgenre of folk-rock, leading many contemporary bands to mimic its fusion of jangly guitars and intellectual lyrics in the wake of the single’s success.

1967

🎙 Pink Floyd played two gigs in one day, the first at the College of Commerce in Hull, and then the UFO at The Blarney Club, Tottenham Court Road, London England.

1972

🎙 Elvis Presley made entertainment history by performing 4 sold-out shows at New York’s Madison Square Garden. George Harrison, John Lennon, David Bowie, Bob Dylan and Art Garfunkel were among music stars that attended the shows. The shows were recorded and became the album ‘Elvis as recorded at Madison Square Garden‘.

🎙 Bruce Springsteen signed with Columbia Records and started to assemble the E Street Band from various Asbury Park ex-band mates.

1975

🎙 Windsor Davies and Don Estelle were at No.1 on the UK singles chart with ‘Whispering Grass‘. It was a spin-off from the BBC TV sitcom It Ain’t Half Hot Mum. Originally recorded by The Ink Spots in 1940.

1978

🎙 The Rolling Stones released Some Girls, their first studio album recorded with Ronnie Wood as a full member. The album cover was designed by Peter Corriston and featured The Rolling Stones in garish drag alongside select female celebrities and lingerie ads. The cover immediately ran into trouble when Lucille Ball, Farrah Fawcett, Liza Minnelli (representing her mother Judy Garland), Raquel Welch, and the estate of Marilyn Monroe threatened legal action.

1979

🎙 The Bee Gees went to No.1 on the US singles chart with ‘Love You inside Out‘, the group’s 9th US No.1 and a No.13 hit in the UK.

1984

🎙 Cyndi Lauper started a two-week run at No.1 on the US singles chart with ‘Time After Time’ a No.3 hit in the UK. Lauper co-wrote ‘Time After Time‘ with Philadelphia based Rob Hyman of The Hooters.

1990

🎙 England New Order started a two-week run at No.1 on the UK singles chart with ‘World In Motion‘. England’s song for the World Cup in 1990, following their No.1 in 1970. In the game they were knocked out by Germany on both occasions.

🎙 M.C. Hammer’s debut album started a record breaking 21 week stay at the top of the US album charts, making it the longest uninterrupted stay at the top since the album charts started.

🎙 Michael Jackson was admitted to hospital with a mystery illness. It was later diagnosed as an inflamed cartilage in his rib cage.

🎙 Bailiffs repossessed the mansion owned by the group 5 Star after non-payment of the mortgage. The group had achieved 15 top 20 hits over five years.

🎙 Wilson Phillips went to No.1 in the US with ‘Hold On‘. 25 years earlier to the day Wendy and Carnies father Beach Boy Brian Wilson had been at No.1 with ‘Help Me Rhonda‘.

1994

🎙 After an argument TLC singer Left Eye set fire to her boyfriend’s Atlanta mansion, worth $2 million (£1.176 million), burning it to the ground. She was charged with arson and fined $10, 000 (£5,882) with five years probation.

1998

🎙 Oasis singer Liam Gallagher and Simply Red singer Mick Hucknall were involved in a brawl at The Metropolitan Hotel, London.

🎙 The Ronettes appeared in the Supreme Court of New York for their lawsuit against Phil Spector. The Ronettes, whose hits included ‘Be My Baby and ‘Walking In The Rain‘, claimed that Spector had breached the group’s 34-year-old contract by paying the members no royalties since 1963. Although The Ronettes went on to win the case, the New York State Court of Appeals overturned the decision in October, 2002, saying that the contract the Ronettes signed with Spector in 1963 was still binding.

2003

🎙 Former Boyzone frontman Ronan Keating raised more than £100,000 ($170,000) for cancer charities during a 23 day walk from the Giant’s Causeway in County Antrim to Kinsale in County Cork. He visited 610 towns along the way, walking an average of 32km (20 miles)each day.

2007

🎙 George Michael became the first music artist to perform at the new Wembley Stadium in London when he played the first of two shows at the venue during his ‘25 Live Tour‘.

2009

🎙 Rachel Stevens was robbed of jewellery by three men who followed her into her flat in north London. The men ambushed the former S Club 7 singer as she entered her flat near Regents Park, the items stolen included her engagement ring, a necklace and her watch.

2011

🎙 A Belgian music festival, which prides itself on its horse-meat sausages announced it was going meat-free on the day that vegetarian singer Morrissey appeared. The 10-day Lokerse Feesten, which boasts online about sales of sausage rolls and snails, will order stalls to sell vegetarian food only on 4th August, the day Morrissey is due to appear. In 2009, the singer left the stage at California’s Coachella festival saying he could “smell burning flesh”. The booking “meant a welcomed catering challenge for one day”, it added.
And that brings us to the end of this weeks edition, don’t forget to check out this weeks Spotify playlist below. See you all the same time next week.

Snuka Ruled Mentally Incompetent To Stand Trial

wp-1464928389409.jpeg

For those of you like me that have not heard of Jimmy Snuka untill now, he was a professional wrestler for several promotions from 1970s to 1990s but most known for his time in the World Wrestling Federation (WWF now WWE) in the early to mid 1980 and is credited with introducing the high-flying style of Wrestling to the WWF and was inducted into the WWF Hall of Fame in 1996.

So why is he on trial and why is he not mentally fit to stand trial?

Jimmy Snuka – Photo courtesy of cnn.com

Well it goes back to May 10, 1983, after defeating José Estrada at a WWF TV taping at the Lehigh County Agricultural Hall in Allentown, Pennsylvania, Snuka placed a call for an ambulance, when emergency personnel arrived at Snuka’s room at the George Washington Motor Lodge, they found that his girlfriend, Nancy Argentino had been injured. Nancy was transported to Allentown’s Sacred Heart Medical Center, where she died shortly after of “undetermined craniocerebral injuries”. The coroner’s report stated that Miss Argentino, 23, died of traumatic brain injuries consistent with a moving head striking a stationary object. The autopsy findings show Miss Argentino suffered more than two dozen cuts and bruises – a possible sign of “mate abuse” (Domestic violence) – on her head, ear, chin, arms, hands, back, buttocks, legs and feet. The forensic pathologists at the time Isidore Mihalakis who preformed the autopsy, wrote that the case should be investigated as a homicide untill proven otherwise.

Snuka was the only suspect involved in the subsequent investigation, although charges were not pressed at the time against Snuka, the case was left officially open. In 1985, Argentino ‘s parents won a $500,000 default judgment against Snuka in U.S. District Court in Philadelphia but Snuka appears not to have ever paid, claiming financial inability to do so. On June 28, 2013, Lehigh County District Attorney Jim Martin announced that the still-open case would be reviewed by his staff. On January 28, 2014, Martin announced that the case had been turned over to a grand jury.

On September 1, 2015, 32 years after the incident, Snuka was arrested and charged with third-degree murder and involuntary manslaughter for Argentino’s death. It is the oldest case to result in charges in Lehigh County history. On October 7, Snuka’s lawyers agreed to forgo a preliminary hearing, which would be a waste of court resources, given the thorough grand jury investigation. In return, they received transcripts and other evidence from that investigation.

On November 2, Snuka pleaded not guilty before judge Kelly Banach. A hearing to determine Snuka’s competency for trial began in May 2016. Snuka’s Attorneys argue that in May 2015 a forensic psychologist found Snuka’s mental and physical health to be deteriorating but prosecutors countered by showing a tape of Snuka performing wrestling moves at a May 2015 match. On June 1, 2016 a judge ruled that Snuka is not mentally competent to stand trial for the murder and that a new hearing will be held is six months to re-evaluate his competency, though his attorneys maintain that his condition won’t improve over time.

Well clearly someone dropped the ball on this case 32 years ago and that in itself raises questions; in particular – how were charges NOT brought against him given Argentino’s injuries and the fact he was the ONLY suspect? So he is deemed incompetent to stand trial, and given his health I doubt he will ever be deemed fit for trial nor will he see the inside of jail cell. In my opinion he should stand trial with Ill health or not, If he was truly innocent of this crime then wouldn’t he want to protest and prove his innocence? To me its seems like the usual act, but this has gone on long enough for the Argentino family, they need answers after all its been 32 years of not knowing,  I’m not a parent but I couldn’t imagine how heartbreaking the last 32 years has been and now even more so as they open old wounds.

Scoop: Lucifer Season 2

wp-1464918241229.jpeg

So Mum is definitely the word going to into Lucifer season 2, given that the last episode shows Lucifer and Amenadiel’s mother has escaped hell. The role of mom is yet to be cast. Joe Henderson, Lucifer’s show runner says “For a while we’ve seen that Amenadiel’s been trying to be ‘God’s favorite son’, emulating himself after his father. So you can imagine that Lucifer might be ‘his mother’s son'”. We should also read into the fact that Maze went MIA after saving Amenadiel. The EP also wishes to feature more of Dr Linda (Rachael Harris) in season 2 with her serving as a confidante for other characters in the show.

There is still much debate as to who and what mom is, the majority at this stage say it’s Lilith who is the first female demon and at this stage everyone is remaining tight lipped as to who will play mommy dearest in season 2. I am very much looking forward to seeing how season 2 plays out after season 1 there is plenty of questions to be answered as well as plenty of avenues go down story wise.

Lucifer season 2 is set to air in fall 2016 in its usual time slot, which is Monday’s at 9:00-10:00pm Eastern/Pacific time.

Inspiration for the song was a scribbled note left by his Wham! partner Andrew Ridgeley for Andrew’s parents, originally intended to read “wake me up before you go” but with “up” accidentally written twice, so Ridgeley wrote “go” twice on purpose.

Presh’s Playlist

wp-1464685263270.jpeg

With so much new music coming out regularly, I thought that perhaps you guys would like to know what new and old songs I have on my playlist and include the video clip of the songs that make the cut for my playlist. So is your playlist lacking ? Well never fear I have for you a bundle of music joy that needs to be in your playlist. It’s quite a mix but I’m sure you will agree, that they are all worthy of your playlist.
Jennifer Lopez – “I Ain’t Your Mama”
Now this is definitely a song that needs to make your playlist list, the video clip is worth watching too!!

DNCE – “Toothbrush”
“Cake By The Ocean” has been doing well on the charts and now DNCE have released a new song and I think its going to do just as well on the charts.

Blink 182 – “Bored to Death”
The boys are back! But without original member Tom DeLonge, in my opinion they are better than ever, I have missed that distinct sound and happy the punk rockers are back.

Pitbull Feat. Enrique Iglesias – “Messin’ Around”
These two have created something a little special, pitbull knows how to get that party started and this time he has brought Enrique for the ride. Definitely deserves a spot in your playlist.

Calvin Harris Feat. Rihanna – “This Is What You Came Here For”
A heavenly collaboration for your ears, it’s a must on your playlist

Sigala – “Give Me Your Love”
Great beat, great vocals what more could you want from a song. This is another must for your playlist

Twenty One Pilots – “Ride”
I love these guys, they have a uniqueness about them and every song draws me in and I love it instantly. It’s not a playlist unless you have Twenty One Pilots in there!

Justin Timberlake – “Can’t Stop This Feeling”
Everytime this song comes on my body just wants to move, also manages to make you feel good. Lets face it, if a song makes you want to move and feel good then its something special and this song my friends is something very special.

Meghan Trainor – “Me Too”
If this song doesn’t at lest get your foot tapping then there is something seriously wrong, this woman is insanely talented I am in ore and the fact that Meghan Trainor is inspired by the retro Rock’n’Roll music of 50’s and 60’s makes her a girl after my own heart. Keep it coming M-Train

Adele – “Send My Love (To Your New Lover”)
Now my playlist wouldn’t be complete without the ever-so talented genius that is Adele. Every single song bring me to goosebumps and depending on the song a few tears – obviously related to parts of my life, I don’t tear up for much but Adele has away of dragging them out.

Fifth Harmony Feat. Ty Dolla $ign – “Work From Home”
Ok so apart from Taytay these girls are my other dirty little secret, gorgeous girls on a work site and a great beat, don’t judge me you know you like the song too 😉

Dua Lipa – “Be The One”

Love this song would be a great addition to any playlist, definitely one artist to watch the girls got talent.

Joan Jett & The Blackhearts – Crimson & Clover
Most of you most likely don’t know this song so do yourself a favor and Google this kick ass band. Your playlist doesn’t feature at lest one song from when music was just pure rock’n’roll then it aint a playlist.

Elvis Presley – “Suspicious Minds”
The last song on my playlist, why? Well I have been a huge Elvis fan all my life and I am luck enough to be born on The Kings birthday (8th January) He was The King for a reason, that handsome man could sing!

So there you have it, my May playlist in all it’s glory. Who will make the cut for next months playlist? Or do you have a song for me to add? Enjoy this little bundle of  joy that is May’s playlist my friends.
