‘Elementary’ Season 5 To Be Covered On Skatronixxx.com

wp-1464314600638.jpeg

As most Elementary fans know the show is now on break and has been renewed for a 5th season. For those of you who haven’t yet experienced the brilliance of Jonny Lee Miller and Lucy Liu here is a brief series overview of Elementary. If you like me are a Sherlock Holmes fan then its a must watch, I wasn’t sure at first with Watson being female, I mean if it’s not broke don’t fix it right? But this dynamic really works and the story lines always have an element of surprise, I stop watching shows if I know whats going to happen, I like my shows to keep me thinking and the story lines complex and Elementary definitely ticks those boxes for me, so when Season 5 of Elementary returns yours truly will keep you updated with a weekly episode review. Season 4 was a cracker so I’m very much looking forward to what season 5 brings with it.

Elementary Series Overview

Elementary follows Holmes (Jonny Lee Miller), who is a recovering drug addict and former consultant to Scotland Yard, as he now assists the New York City Police Department in solving crime. His indifference to police procedure often leads to conflict with Captain Thomas Gregson (Aidan Quinn), although the two still remain mutually respectful of one another. Holmes is accompanied by Dr. Joan Watson (Lucy Liu), is initially acts as his sober companion. Watson is a former surgeon and was hired by Sherlock’s father to help him in his rehabilitation, Holmes and Watson eventually begin to work together on his cases, Watson becomes Holmes’ apprentice.

Following his fall from grace in London and a stint in rehab, the eccentric modern Sherlock Holmes relocates to Manhattan, where his wealthy father forces him to live with a sober companion, Dr. Joan Watson. Watson formerly a successful surgeon untill she lost a patient, she views her current job as another opportunity to help people. However, Sherlock is nothing like her previous clients and informs her that none of her expertise as an addiction specialist applies to him and that he has devised his own post-rehab regimen – resuming his work as a police consultant in New York City. Watson has no choice but to accompany her eccentric new client on his jobs.

Over time, Holmes finds Watson’s medical background helpful, and Watson realizes she actually has a talent with investigation. Holmes’ police contact, Captain Thomas Gregson, knows from previous experience working with Scotland Yard that Holmes is brilliant at solving cases, and welcomes him as part of the team. The investigative team also includes Detective Marcus Bell, an investigator with sharp intuition and intimidating interrogation skills, although initially skeptical of Holmes and his unorthodox methods, Bell begins to recognize Sherlock as an asset to their team.
Elementary features Holmes’ ongoing conflict with his nemesis Jamie Moriarty (Natalie Dormer) and constantly takes many turns, as with his strained relationship with his father. The show also features Detective Marcus Bell (Jon Michael Hill), Sherlock’s brother Mycroft Holmes (Rhys Ifans) and Sherlock’s father Morland Homes (John Noble).

I look forward to bringing you my thoughts and weekly review of Elementary so far no air dates yet but will keep you updated.

The Name’s Bond, Jane Bond

wp-1464132769538.jpeg

My Dr No Canvas

I’m huge fan of the original James Bond movies and I own every Bond movie made, I also have a collection of the cars that were used in the movies and I have a huge canvas print of the The first James Bond Film – Dr No with Sean Connery as 007. Now most women feel that James Bond was a chauvinistic womanizer and yes I see their point of view but as a woman I loved these movies they had great fight scenes, awesome gadgets and lets not forget plenty of gorgeous women that definitely can hold their own when it comes down to it, and with Daniel Craig not want to play 007 again the coveted role is up for grabs, personally I didn’t think Daniel Craig made the best Bond he lacked that certain charm and with the times changing perhaps so to should the role of Bond. There is no time like the present to explore having a female Bond – Jane Bond.

It has always been something I have wanted to see, a woman playing Bond and over the years I have had some awesome women in mind, however the best person to be Jane Bond in my opinion is Gillian Anderson she ticks all the right boxes of what Jane Bond needs to possess, She needs to be somewhat emotionally void (We have seen Gillian do this with Stella Gibson in The Fall), She needs to be strong, intelligent, desired by both men and women and can look sexy in a tailored suit as well as a dress.

What happens to the Bond girls you ask? Well for me the Bond girls are also an integral part so there would still need to be Bond girls along with some Bond boys and a mixture of men and women villain’s. Twitter recently had voting with the hashtag #NextBond and Gillian emerged as the clear fan-favorite, “The Fall and The X Files” actress responded to all the hype and excitement by tweeting a fan-made Bond poster (allegedly made by photographer Karla Carbajal) featuring herself.

Will it ever happen? I don’t know, but me and thousands of other Bond fans really hope that Hollywood has been listening and give the people what they want to see… Gillian Anderson as Bond, Jane Bond!

2016 Billboard Music Awards

wp-1464059644930.jpegIt’s that time of the year again folks when the music world gather to celebrate their peers, in favor of full disclosure I am 35 and grumpy so it is abundantly clear to me that these awards target audience are the pre teen and tween given a few of the winner’s, for example One Direction won over The Rolling Stones, U2, Maroon 5 and Twenty One Pilots?

So this year’s hosts were Ludacris and Ciara the pair did a great job and who better to kick this year’s awards off then Britney Spears, she did a medley of songs including “I Love Rock’n’Roll” and my favorite part of all was Britney riding the mechanical guitar, I must confess I do love me a bit of Britney and she nailed it.

This years other performer’s included:

Fifth Harmony performed  “Work From Home” one of my favorite songs…. Ok and one of my very favorite video clips.. Hot!!

wp-1464059852397.jpeg

P!nk debut her latest single “Just Like Fire” for the new Alice in Wonderland film and she never disappoints, everything P!nk does is always a visual feast for your eyes

wp-1464059916281.jpeg

Celine Dion performed “The Show Must Go On” and what a performance it was, the woman is absolutely amazing.

wp-1464059954952.jpeg

Meghan Trainor preformed “No” and nailed it but that dress didn’t do her justice

wp-1464059743977.jpeg

Justin Bieber also preformed “Company” & “Sorry” but i have to be blatantly honest I fast forwarded his performance he is a talentless git with a bad attitude.

Lukas Graham performed “7 Years”

DNCE rocked the stage with “Cake By The Ocean” these guys are like this generations No Doubt they did an awesome job.

wp-1464059899011.jpeg

Demi Lovato performed “Cool For The Summer”

wp-1464059726012.jpeg

Nick Jonas and Tove Lo did a duet on “Close”.

Shanw Mendes performed “Stitchers”.

Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani performed “Go Ahead and Break my Heart”.

wp-1464059779139.jpeg

Kesha got the green light to perform and absolutely knocked her cover of Bob Dylan’s “It Aint Me Babe” out of the park and got a well deserved standing ovation.

wp-1464059934336.jpeg

Rihanna astounded the audience with “Love on the Brain”

Our own Troye Sivan performed “Youth”

Ariana Grande performed “Dangerous Woman” and ‘Into You’

The Go-Go’s performed “We Got The Beat” and let me tell you the girls have still got it!

Madonna and Stevie Wonder performed a very moving tribute to the late great Prince, Madonna performed ‘Nothing Compares To You’ and I thought she did it justice then her and Stevie Wonder performed ‘Purple Rain’ together and again i thought they both did a cracking job.

H.G. Wells vs Jack the Ripper In ABC’s New Drama

wp-1463718994558.jpeg

H.G. Wells (Freddie Stroma) & Jack the Ripper (Josh Bowman)

H.G. Wells goes head to head with Jack the Ripper in ABC’s new television series

Time After Time is an upcoming American drama set to air on the ABC network sometime in 2016, created by Kevin Williamson ( The Following, Scream, The Vampire Diaries and I Know What You Did Last Summer) and directed by Marcos Siega (Blindspot, The Following, Dexter and The Vampire Diaries) is based on the book and film of the same name. The series is set to star Freddie Stroma (UnREAL, Pitch Perfect, Harry Potter) as H.G. Wells, Josh Bowman (Revenge, Make it or Break it) as John Stevenson/Jack the Ripper, Genesis Rodriguez (Entourage, Identify Thief) as Jane, Regina Taylor (DIG, The Unit) as Vanessa Anders.

The series is set in London, 1893, H.G. Wells destined to become a famed science fiction author, however on this evening he is just a little known writer struggling to get his work published. Wells invites his intellectual friends to show off his new invention – a time machine, but never suspects his late arriving guest, surgeon and good friend John Stevenson, is the infamous serial killer Jack the Ripper. When the police arrive looking for him, John sneaks into the time machine and flees to modern-day Manhattan with Wells in hot pursuit. It’s there Wells meets Jane Walker, a charming museum curator, who’s about to die in the hands of John if Wells doesn’t stop him in time.
Wells has a fascinating point of view on today’s society but in order to fit in he needs to be able play the game, as a dreamer and a huge believer in utopia, Wells is terribly disappointed to find out that the world in 2016 is in fact nothing like he had imagined in his novels.

I have always had a keen interest in all things Jack the Ripper and have seen many documentaries on him but there has never really been a tv drama about him so it has really peaked my interest and H.G Well is a great added bonus. For me its a must watch even before I had seen the trailer and having watched the trailer it has only heighten my interest, if you’re a fan of H.G Wells and/or fascinated with Jack the Ripper then I think this will be a must watch show for you.

Here is a little teaser for you all.

Bates Motel SN4 EP10 – ‘Norman’

bates.jpg

Firstly I just want to apologize for my tardiness in getting my review written and live on our site, but I do have a good excuse and no I wont bore you with the details. So this week was the season four finale and I for one was greatly anticipating it with all sorts of scenarios going through my head but the way the finale ended was definitely not one of the may different scenarios I had in my head that’s for sure. Ok so let take a quick look at last weeks episode before we sink our teeth into the finale episode.

Last week we seen Norman’s crazy train pull into the station as he and Norma try to reconnect and make plans for the future. Romero frustrated by Norma being blind when it come to Norman, reaches out to Dylan for help. Norman again gets his was as Norma sacrifices her own happiness and pens a letter to Romero telling him she is sorry and that she will always love him and places the ring in the envelope and places it on her dresser. Norman plans to be with mother forever and lights the faulty furnace and closes all the vents in the house except Norma’s room he lies beside her and goes to sleep, he wakes to find Romero giving Norma CPR and utters Mother?

SN4 EP10 – ‘Norman’

Norman is being loaded into the ambulance and as he looks out the window we get a glimpse of his point of view with the Bates house on its side and so to is his world now, we also see him delve into memories of him and his mother playing hide and seek but he loses her briefly “Promise, Mother? That you will never leave me alone? She has left him physically but she is clearly cemented deep into his tormented little mind. Romero still visibly shocked is being interviewed and tells the Detective he and Norma had only been married for two-week, she slides a letter towards him that Norma wrote containing the wedding ring and the note saying she will always love him, Detective Chambers (Molly Price) believes it’s a clear-cut murder suicide and yes to outsiders it would appear as if Norma was extremely distraught over her failed marriage tried to end it and takes Norman out with her, but of course Romero and anyone who knows Norman, knows he’s is the right amount of crazy to pull this off and Romero tells her “if I were you, I’d speak to her son Norman Bates”.

wp-1463633369989.jpeg

Norman gets released from the hospital, when Romero tells him he knows he did it, but Norman goes along with the suicide theory and blames Romero for Norma’s death. Romero pins Norman against the wall with his hand around his throat and says ” I’m going to prove you did it, you piece of shit” releases him and walks out. Norman is no longer untouchable, and without Norma’s protection he is now going to have to watch his back. Norman comes home and calls out “Mother?” With no answer he goes to her room as though she is still in bed, but alas she is not so he lays in the bed that he had shared with his mother so many times before, Norman for the first time is now truly alone, he sets his mother a spot at the table and eats alone.

wp-1463633305280.jpeg

Romero goes to see Norma at the morgue, but the employees think it’s not a good idea but he looks untill he finds her body as he pull back the sheet he sobs and my heart broke for him he is truly in love with her and in an instant she is taken away from him, he places her wedding ring on her finger, kisses her and tell her that he loves her wherever she is and he always will. Norman still denial that Norma will come home, is looking into the mirror and asks what do I have to do mother? As though he was waiting for her to answer him, he starts emptying out the meds he has been taking since his time at Pineview, which is not a good move considering his already delusional state of mind. When the phone rings he rushes to it thinking it may be mother calling, but it was the funeral home looking for Alex Romero, Norman quickly tell him Romero no longer lives there and he will have nothing to do with the ceremony. Norman is told to bring an outfit he would like Norma to be buried in.

wp-1463633332301.jpeg

Norman has had it in for the big screen TV Romero had brought so it only makes sense to destroy it, while he is in the process of destroying the same Detective that questioned Romero pulls up that as Norman is going to town on the TV. Norman is quick to cast suspicion onto Romero as he claims Norma was upset over leaving Romero, he also claims he didn’t know much about their relationship because he was in Pineview. He claims that Alex wasn’t a good guy and the he only married Norma to get him locked up in the Pineview Institute. Norman can be quite convincing, but I don’t think he has managed to convince Detective Chambers, it seem she suspects something is not quite right with him or his story. At the funeral home Norman seems to at ease and quite comfortable in that environment, could it be a new job for him perhaps? Romero learns that Norman may have been in the room when the repair guy told Norma that furnace could kill them if its lit. Dylan reaches out to talk to Norman because he knows Norma won’t speak to him for a while due to their fight but when he say that she probably won’t reach out to me, Norman neglects to tell Dylan that Norma is dead and will never be reaching out to him. As heartbreaking as it will be when Dylan finally knows the truth about Norma, I think he and Emma are safer being in Seattle.

wp-1463633344494.jpeg

Norman didn’t tell anyone about Norma’s funeral, he gets up and starts his eulogy to an empty church he says Norma was like a miracle and she wasn’t supposed to leave me, clearly still in denial that she died by his hand. Romero enters the church and Norman gave him the ring back defying Romero last wish for his wife, Romero lands a few good ones on Norman that sends him into the church pews bleeding from his nose. Alex is on a mission and heads to the station to get his gun, as he leaves the DEA turn up and arrest him for perjury for lying about his relationship with Rebecca, they are really clutching at straws but it may have saved our favorite little psycho’s life. Norman is becoming increasingly convinced that his mother with be coming home soon, he is becoming more delusional and thinks it’s a good idea to go and dig Norma up and bring her, he lays her on the couch and shakes her to wake up and open her eyes and when she doesn’t he glues her eyes open and scream “look at me mother”. Norman is teetering on the edge of grief, desperation and delusions which is a very dangerous combination.

wp-1463633319835.jpeg

Chick finds the door open walks in Norman meets him before he gets to the couch that Norma’s body is laying on, he tells Norman he has come to pay his respects and he brought Norman a chicken enchilada casserole, he sees Norma’s body lying there and says “you do what you have to do, but you know she is dead right? He tells Norman that he will come back in a few days to check in on him, but that could become potentially dangerous for Chick. With it dawning on Norman that she is not coming back he loads a gun to finish off what he started, he put the barrel in his mouth and just as he goes to pull the trigger he hears ‘I’ll Be Home for Christmas’ playing on the piano, its Norma in a red dress happily playing the piano he sits with his arm around her while she plays and the camera pans out to Bates Motel neon blue sign.

wp-1463633430791.jpeg

I definitely didn’t see that ending coming at all, one thing I have been thinking about is maybe Norma has never really been there? Could she have just been the other side of Norman’s split personality? Season 4 has been outstanding, the writer, the actors and the rest of the crew are just insanely talented and I am very much looking forward to what season 5 will bring.

Museum World Meets Gaming World In 2017

wp-1463609772794.jpeg

What racing video games did you grow up with? The racing games you would find in our house growing up in the early years you would find ‘Final Lap‘, ‘Pol Position‘, ‘Grand Prix‘ and as we got older we had, ‘Formula One‘, ‘Daytona‘, ‘Sega Rally Championship‘, ‘GTA‘, ‘Need For Speed‘ and ‘Gran Turismo‘ which I still played up to a few years ago, but unfortunately I had to retire from gaming due to an Illness that has affected my hands so very reluctantly I had to hang up my controller. Video games in our family had definitely forged a bond between my little Brother who is 10 younger than me, it gave us something in common which we would not of had without video games. I was 17 baby bro was 7 when I introduced him to video games. Video games have had such a huge influence over the years and it doesn’t look like it’s about to slow down anytime soon especially as the gaming technology and graphics become so much more advanced.

I was recently sent an email about an awesome new project that has been given the go ahead that is really quite exciting for all gamers young and old a like. A South Australian Museum is working on developing an exhibition to look into the influence of motor culture of video gaming, the National Motor Museum in the Adelaide Hills of South Australia were awarded $125, 000 grant this month from the Australian government to create “REVolution: where pixels meet motors – an interactive history of video gaming and motor culture“.

wp-1463607671843.jpeg

The museum’s director Paul Rees first had the idea for the exhibition while watching his 15-year-old son playing motor racing video games, and thought “This is part of motoring history – how people interact with motoring culture through video games, there is an exhibition in this”. Rees said they are looking at the early days of racing in our modern culture and the influence on video games from motorbikes to motorcars, they have also looked at the dashboard of modern-day cars and want to explore how video gaming has informed the modern car and the modern driving experience. The museum is working with an Adelaide-based tech company Novus Res, they will develop a program to allow visitors and schools to create simple motor racing games based on basic coding techniques.
Rees says “The idea is to introduce people to basic computer programming by saying ‘you can whip up a game here in five minutes ‘ then allowing them to take home the game they created somehow

wp-1463607636411.jpeg

The National Motor Museum in Birdwood, South Australia is Run by History SA and attracts about 60,000 visitors a year to its extensive collection of cars and automobile collectables. The museum has started to integrate the video games with setting up racing games on the consoles as apart of their school holiday programs, however the up coming exhibition would be on a much greater scale and would be more of a fun history lesson. The museum hopes to have the interactive exhibition open in December 2017, the exhibition would also give the museum’s traditional visitors a better understanding and perhaps a new appreciation of video games. Rees said the exhibition is going to be for anyone who remembers the earliest games, but he hopes it will come into its own as an educational program for students. Science technology, engineering and maths could be taught through video gaming and it could become a stepping stone for people who want to move into the creative industries.

Who knows what the future may bring but with technology and gaming advancing rapidly this platform could possibly be used to teach people how to drive, like a simulator of sorts? This is definitely an exhibition you won’t want to miss. For more information head over to the National Motor Museum website.
