Japan Gives Us The ‘Ghostbusters’ Music Video We Deserve (Sorry Fall Out Boy!)

ghostbusters-japanese-video

Everyone who knows me know that I love Ghostbusters, I mean what’s not to love? Comedy genuis coupled with supernatural elements, that’s two of my favourite things in life. Sadly if you’re a long term reader on the site, you’ll also know my thoughts on the latest Ghostbusters film and if you don’t you can read it here .

Now don’t get me wrong it’s not because they are female, it’s more the team behind the scenes. I’m sorry but Paul Feig is not the right man, to reboot this franchise, they should have stuck with Ivan Reitman. A film this iconic needed ties to the past, to make sure it would be a success, you can’t reboot a franchise without any original ties. That’s like remaking Indiana Jones without Harrison Ford and Steven Spielberg/George Lucas but hey I digress.

I have to hand it to the marketing team behing Ghostbusters 3, they are really trying to win us over. The marketing team in Japan have well and truly nailed it. First it was the Ghostbusters themed menu at J.S. Burgers Cafe that you can read about in my previous article here. Now Japanese 4 comedians (Tomochika, Oniyakko Tsubaki, Naomi Watanabe and Shizuyo Yamasaki) have released thier own version of the song paying homeage to the past.

Sadly the marleting tema for the rest of the world did not follow suit. Sorry Fall Out Boy although you are one of my favourite bands of all time, your song sucked, yes it sucked! Just to be fair I’ll include thier video below, so if you haven’t heard it you can check it out.

Now I don’t blame you, I mean you’ve sampled ‘The Munsters’ in your songs before so I know if you would have been allowed you would have given us the song we deserve. Sadly you couldnt, and luckily for us someone stepped up to the plate. The song even has me a little bit excited about the film, now why couldn’t we have been treated to a Japanese reboot? I know they would have got it right! It’s not only me it seems the rest of the internet agrees as well.

Still don’t believe? Still anti-Ghostbusters 3? Well still am I but you gotta admit this song is pretty damn awesome!!

An Interview With Let Me Out Animations About Thier New Project ‘VirtualCraft’

letmeout.png

As part of Skatronixxx.com plans to continue to grow we are always looking to partner with up and coming teams, businesses or people. The latest team to partner with us is up and coming animation company ‘Let Me Out Animations‘. Let’s find out some more about the newest member to the #TeamSkatronixxx extended family.

1) I’m pleased to announce to our readers that Skatronixxx.Com and Let Me Out Animations have agreed a partnership to air your show ‘VirtualCraft’. Can you tell us a little bit about what the show and what we can expect to see?

Absolutely, VirtualCraft is the story of people fighting to get out of a virtual reality video game. It is not dissimilar to a few notable shows in that regard, though I can guarantee, in VirtualCraft nobody is safe. Their lives are on the line as they work together to try and survive.

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

2) How did you get into animation?

I was actually inspired by Minecraft.  Running around that world of possibilities, it struck a chord in me that I had nearly forgotten about. From a very young age I had the need to create. I graduated from that world and moved into the realm of 3d modelling. I’ve shaped the world of VirtualCraft to pay homage to that inspiration.

3) I can see that you have also several other series in the pipelines such as ‘Something Like A Hero’ and ‘Happy Eggs’ can you tell us anything about these shows?

Happy Eggs was actually my first idea for a series. It is a light hearted take on darkly humorous idea. If your food saw what happened after it leaves the fridge. Something Like A Hero, to begin production after season one of VirtualCraft is complete, is a universe of series, ranging from dramatic to comedic in tone. It will follow several different perspectives through several generations of superheroes and supervillains. It will be quite a grand venture.

eggs.png

4) Readers may recognise the animation you’ve used as coming from hit game ‘Minecraft’, do you think we could see more animators using this program to make shows in the future?

I certainly think Minecraft is a great platform to nurture imagination. I think that fans of the game will continue to push the limits of what we think are capable. I hope that VirtualCraft can play a role in that development.

5) What can we expect to see from you in the remaining months of 2016 going forward into 2017?

We will be producing and publishing season one of VirtualCraft and be beginning production on Something Like A Hero’s first show.

6) Tell our readers one fun fact about yourself

(Not too sure what to put here)

I was once told I’d never walk without a limp, after an unfortunate incident with a few dogs. So I took up rock-climbing. No limp now, and I love rock-climbing and dogs.

7) Finally what advice would you have for upcoming animators?

No matter what, if you have a passion to create, just go out and do it. I learnt everything I know for free from the Internet and some frustrating hours staring at my screen wondering how to make the thingy do that with this thingy. It’s not easy but it’s worth every second when you get to look at what you’ve done in the final render, there’s just no feeling quite like it.

There we are readers, the newest addition to the #TeamSkatronixxx family ‘Let Me Out Animations’ Dont be shy go say hi, you can view thier official website here . You can also find them on social media at the following sites:-

Red Dwarf XI Synopsis Lands

redward.jpg

It’s cold outside, there’s no kind of atmosphere. I want to lie shipwrecked and comatose, drinking fresh mango juice with goldfish shoals nibbling at my toes. No I’m not describing my thoughts about Monday morning, that’s the words from the late 80’s and early 90’s iconic theme tune to one of the most random but successful sitcoms in British history. Don’t believe me, check out the theme tune below, you’ll be singing along in no time!

So what is Red Dwarf if you haven’t seen it? Well imagine the very last human Craig Charles (Coronation Street) in existence, stranded on a ship with a cat/human hybrid Danny John Jules (Maid Marion, Trouble In Paradise) a narcissistic hologram Chris Barrie (The Brittas Empire)and a robot human with a vacuum cleaner groinal attachment Robert Llewellyn (Scrapheap Challenge). They travel through time causing mischief and mayhem, whilst eating vindaloo and blasting anything and everything with their bazookas. They even coined the catchphrase ‘Let’s get out thier and tw*t it!’.

The original Red Dwarf was amazing, a mix of pure randomness and British humour combined with a sci-fi element. Sc-fi fans loved it, non sci-fi fans loved it. It was a smash hit. ‘Polymorph’ is my favourite episode for it’s sheer randomness. I mean an alien that disguises it’s self as underpants to attack the human? That’s more evil than Alien & Predator combined.

Ok so you got a random misfit bag of a crew, who drink beer, eat curry and take on alien underpants? You can see why the British public loved it. But sadly the show was axed in 1999 and what better way to end it than blowing up your own evil future versions of yourself.

So that was it, Red Dwarf was over, finished, it was one hell of an eleven year ride but it was worth it, it was time to go out on a high.

All was quiet until 2009 when a weird Red Dwarf/Coronation Street mash up occoured, it was so popular than the series was rebooted in 2012. It blurred the lines of reality, where Craig’s character met himself on his other show.

The less said about the the rebooted series in 2012 the better, so as such to preserve the shows memory, I will use a Men In Black ‘Neuralyzer’ to erase my memory.

The show tried a triumphant comeback and it sadly flopped more than a Tom Daley dive at the Olympics (burnnnnnn). That’s why when I heard way back before I even started the site, that British network Dave was planning on attempting another reboot I was less than thrilled! Then I sat down annd thought about it, Dave is a network that is targeted at people about my age and 10-15 years older, the true fans of the original show. Plus when you look at the list of the shows they currently air I changed my view and reserved my judgement.

All was quiet until the official Red Dwarf site has published a synopsis for series XI, and it’s looks to promise so much more.

‘Red Dwarf XI, the eleventh series of the legendary sci-fi comedy, reunites the original cast of Chris Barrie (Rimmer), Craig Charles (Lister), Danny John-Jules (Cat) and Robert Llewellyn (Kryten) along with a host of guest stars for a brand new series recorded in front of a live studio audience at Pinewood Studios. The series is written and directed by Red Dwarf co-creator,Doug Naylor, and produced by Richard Naylor and Kerry Waddell forBaby Cow Productions & Grant Naylor Productions.

The show’s six episode run sees two of the Dwarfers’ dreams come true: Rimmer accidentally saves the life of a Space Corps Captain and is promoted to Officer, while Cat takes time off from being in love with himself to fall in love with a female Cat with a secret. Meantime, Lister wakes up to discover a deranged droid has stolen some of his body parts and Kryten has a mid-life crisis and considers leaving the Dwarfers for a younger crew. The posse also find themselves in an alternative America where modern technology is outlawed, making both Kryten and Rimmer illegal.’

You can also watch the announcement by Dave below.

Is the theme tune not stuck in your head yet? Ok one more time!!

A ‘Ghostbusters’ Themed Menu? Who You Gunna Call (And Invite To Dinner)?

ghostbusters-burgers-187624

Let’s face it, the original Ghostbusters was a classic, the remake sadly looks like an apparition that only the original team can dispose of. I ain’t afraid of no ghosts but I am afraid on this. Anyway I digress, or do I? It seems that large proportions of the internet seem to share my opinion of the new film. Now don’t get me wrong, it’s not the fact they are female, it’s just the cast, the director, heck even the soundtrack, which features one of my favourite bands Fall Out Boy has won me over.

But this, this has me interested!!

Japanese restaurant chain, J.S. Burgers Cafe, has created a Ghostbusters themed menu, that it will run between July 1st to September 30th to coincide with the release of Paul Feig’s upcoming reboot.

Well how can a menu be Ghostbusters themed I hear you ask? Will the food attack me? Will it become demonically possessed and try to eat me? Well luckily no, instead we will be treated with the chance to munch on ‘Black Chilli Chips‘. Is that a fancy word for burnt chips? (google searches the chips, ok they’re not burnt!) It’s basically some crisps (for us Brits) with sour cream, salsa and chilli that’s black. I gotta admit the black chilli, does look kinda demonic, I’m gunna eat it before it eats me!

fries

Once you’ve tackled these chips, it’s then on to the main course the ‘G.B Burger‘. This impressive burger includes purple cabbage and a black olive and anchovy paste. It truly looks like a burger Satan would eat himself. The only thing I’m scared of is this reminds ome of the ‘Halloween Burger‘, Burger King did with a black bun, that turned your poo, neon green! Don’t believe me google it.  Oooooook :/

burger.jpg

To wash that taste out your mouth you’re going to need a ‘Slimer Smoothie‘, this is perhaps the most normal item on the menu, oh wait it’s a kiwi-flavored drink topped with burger shaped candy. It also reminds you of ectoplasm, now as a massive ghostbusters fan, I’d love to be slimed, but would I like to drink it? Hmmm

slimer

If you’ve conquered all these ghosts, I mean meals, then prepare to face the ultimate challenge, the ‘Marshmallow Mad Burger‘. It looks kinda like something that Stay Puft would have pooped out. This truly ‘mad burger’ features roasted giant roasted mashmallows (poor Stay Puft) stuffed with Oreos and a red jam-like sauce dripping from the top of the bun.

marshmallow

This meal will divide opinions like the new film. but I’d be up for tackling this burger. Is it bad that as a massive Ghostbusters fan, this meal excites me far more than the film?

Interested? You can sample this at J.S. Burger Cafe outlets at the Shinjuku, Shibuya, Harajuku and Ikebukuro stores.

Britain Needs ‘Captain Britain’ Right Now!

captain britain

So we’ve voted, the dust has settled and the panic or joy has set in. Either way it’s going to be a rocky few months for the UK as we look to sever our ties with the EU and move solo flying the flag for Britain.

The team at skatronixxx.com have different views on the whole in/out debate and we all respect each others views and opinions. Regardless of our opinions, I think that the UK is in need of a massive boost of morale  currently and that’s why I propose to you, the return of a hero. Captain America, oh I mean Britain.

Captain Britain away!!! I think that those savvy fat cats who are running the television corporations should pounce upon the not only the incredibly hot comic book market that is booming right now but also the state of the UK.

A Captain Britain show/film would be potentially a huge success, we just need to pull the trigger and commit to it.

But Who Is Captain Britain (Brian Braddock)?

He was born an raised in the town of Maldon (where one of my team comes from) and educated at Edinburgh. Brian was a shy and hard working child commited to studying and leading a relatively quiet family life. Brian also came from a posh background. All was ok until his parents died in what was a laboratory accident.

He then takes a position at Darkmoor nuclear research centre. Sadly the facility is attacked by the technological criminal Joshua Stragg . Brian heroically tries to find help by escaping on his motorcycle, but he  then crashes his bike where he sees his daughter and Merlin the magician (yes seriously) appear to him in a vision.

They give him the chance to be the superhero Captain Britain. He is offered a choice: the Amulet of Right or the Sword of Might. Considering himself to be no warrior and unsuited for the challenge, he rejects the Sword and chooses the Amulet. This choice transforms him into Captain Britain.

What’s His Powers?

  • Superhuman strength
  • Speed
  • Endurance
  • Agility
  • Durability
  • Reflexes
  • Enhanced Senses
  • Force fields
  • Energy beams
  • Flight

Who Could Be Captain Britian?

This is easy, there is only one choice for Captain Britain, long time friend and supporter of skatronixxx.com , up and coming actor Johnny Sachon. Johnny would fit the role perfectly, so television execs, sign up this show and our friend now!

johnny.png

What do you think? Does Britain need a saviour right now? If so is Captain Britain and Johnny Sachon up to the task? I say YES!!!

Come on tv/film execs, you can’t miss this chance (Luke) I’m looking at you!!

Was Roman Reigns ‘Suspension’ A Work?

reigns

Let’s face it, everyone loves to chip in with their thoughts on WWE. We all do it, we plot returns, turns and swerves and debate the latest episodes, then say ‘I told you!’ if you get it right or moan and threaten to switch off if they get it wrong.

WWE wants us to think they are in a ‘new era’,  gradually the shows are getting more edgy with the lunatic Dean Ambrose as WWE champ, you can hardly call it, the PG-era still can you?

That’s why the recent news about Roman Reigns, drug suspension shocked me. Reigns was Vinnie Mac’s poster boy of the ‘new era’, he liked to remind us by saying

Drug suspensions  within the WWE are usually like a sidenote to its shady reality and past they  hoped to forget. Normally when a ‘superstar’ is suspended they post an article on WWE.COM with the wrestlers name and reason why they won’t be seen  on programming for a while.

I remember the Randy Orton, Rey Mysterio saga a few years back. Half of the roster were suspended for using banned substances, don’t believe me look it up.

Maybe it’s because he was champ and the company wanted to punish him publicly. With him returning just in time for the next WWE pay per view. Conspiracy theorist got thinking and so did I!

So I ask you to think is the Roman Reigns drug suspension actually a work? Consider this?

Wrestlers returning normally from a ‘break’ more often than not get a massive boost if they’re a face or heat magnet. Either way all eyes are gunna be waiting for his return. An example of this is the Triple H Royal Rumble return.

Roman was getting stale and stagnant. The crowd was starting to boo him regardless. Returning after a  holiday oops I mean ‘suspension’ would give us a break from Boo-man before he got X-Pac heat. No one want’s X-pac heat SERIOUSLY!

You gotta remember Vinnie Mac is crazy plot wise, I remember the Mae Young hand scenario. If you’re too young to remember this, let me explain, Mae Young (RIP) was one of the greatest and back in the day best female wrestlers in her first run. Flash forward to the ‘Attitude Era‘ and she has sexual relations with ‘Sexual Chocolate’ Mark Henry and they gave birth to a hand. Yes a hand, don’t believe me? Check it out below!

Then you got The Rock and the money WWE invested in him. WWE has spent loads on Roman and how will they recoup it? Plus you gotta be careful you don’t piss off arguably your biggest stat since Hogan!

If I was Vinnie Mac I’d punish him MVP style, make him go on a massive losing steak to see how he rebounds. If he’s the star they think he is,he’ll recover. If not it’s setting an example to fans not to do drugs. To quote Roman again.

After all WWE are idiots if they push a champ so quick after being banned. Then you got Titus, anothy floundering star who got suspended for man handling I mean touching Vinnie’s arm. Really Vinnie you made Droz puke at will.

Then Titus returns BOOM instant US title shot push. Either Vinnie realised he over reacted or gave Titus s sabbatical to recharge, refresh and gain momentum on his return.

You can see how I  came up with this crazy theory. Seriously if it’s legit Vinnie is a douche or creative genius but then again wasn’t he both already?

An Interview With Andy Lundman Of Cliff Diver

cliffdiver

One of the great things about running a pop culture site, is rather than trying to find the breaking news, sometimes the news comes to you. I was contacted by Andy Lundman is regards to the release of his latest EP and his new project Cliff Diver.

I agreed to do not only a quick q&a with Andy but also get a sneak peak and listen to his new EP and promote it on the site.

Andy is a seasoned musician from Seattle who learnt his trade in a band called Peace Mercutio, and this experience comes across in the first couple of notes in the first track.

Upon playing the first track ‘Miss You‘ what greeted me was a catchy and haunting intro followed by exceptional clean and crisp vocals similar to that of Dashboard Confessional lead singer Chris Carrabba and Yellowcard lead singer Ryan Key. As the first track progressed I found myself not only humming along to the track but also tapping my feet in beat.

The second track titled ‘You Said‘ is a contrast to the melodic tunes of the first track with an upbeat intro that is packed full of power but still retains the feel of the first track.

The third track titled ‘Forever And A Day‘ has me bobbing my head along to the intro from the first couple of notes and is truly an exhibition of Andy’s vocal range and talent. This was my favourite track of the EP.

The final track titled ‘Dress Me Down‘ is again a wild ride through Andy’s impressive vocal range, with country elements scattered throughout.

In summary I’d have to say that the EP was a brilliant debut solo work from a seasoned professional and it clearly shows. What also comes across in the music is his passion and heart for the industry and love to share his work with you.

A truly catchy song by an awesome guy! Let’s find out a little more about the man by the music Andy Lundman.

1) How did you get into music?

I grew up in a very musical family. My dad always song around the house and my mom played piano. My grandparents all played instruments at some point in their lives so it was always around. I grew up in a house with a lot of “oldies” playing constantly and I eventually tried to start a band with my cousin who eventually married one of my now former band mates. You could say it’s in the family.

2) How would you describe your musical style?

I’m a pop punk/emo kid at heart so those influences will always be under the surface somewhere. But with Cliff Diver, I would say if Chris Carrabba and Damien Rice put their DNA together and it created a less talented child, you would get something close to what I’ve been writing. I’m drawn to songwriters who are able to take you on a journey and when you listen, you get taken on a journey through what they were going through and you feel it. That’s what blows my hair back so that’s what I try to create with my music.

cliffdiver2

3) Your new EP ‘Make It Count’ was released on the 10th of June, can you tell us a little about what went into it?

My last band, Peace Mercutio, was a very heavily pop punk influenced band, which was my heart and I still love it, but I wanted to depart from the full band for a short time and create something a little more introspective and emo-y if that makes sense. I was going through kind of crisis of identity and changing of plans with PM breaking up and I needed to explore that, especially lyrically. I think you can hear the pain a bit in the songs because I put a lot of myself, and what I was going through, into all aspects both musically and lyrically. It was definitely an emotional time and very therapeutic.

4) Who would you say is your biggest influence musically and who did you listen to growing up?

I grew up listening to a ton of pop punk. MxPx was and still is my favorite band. Anberlin jumped up the ranks and forced me to question MxPx’s position in that so they’re kind of even there.  Haha! Being from the “Drive Thru Records” era and the golden age of T&N, Dashboard, The Early November, Mae, mewithoutYou, Brand New, TBS, Thrice, and all of that. I can’t get enough of that era as a whole. That’s the golden era for me.

I love singer songwriters like Damien Rice, Mat Kearney, Matt Nathanson, Sufjan Stevens, and “new” to the scene Tyson Montsenbocker’s record “Letters to lost loves” is incredible as well.

Lately though, The Hotelier is blowing my mind as well as Into It. Over It.

As you can see, I’m all over the board. I connect with so much.

5) If you could duet with anyone person, dead or alive, who would it be and why?

That’s such a great question! Probably John Foreman from Switchfoot. That band is like a fine wine and keeps putting out incredible music. Plus I love his solo stuff as well as Fiction Family. All great stuff, plus I think he’d teach me to surf on breaks in the studio. Haha!

6) You’re currently an audio visual technician for cancer charity Fred Hutch, can you tell us how this came about it?

After Peace Mercutio got back from touring with Emery, This Wild Life, and the Classic Crime, I needed to get a job again and pay some bills. I’ve been in the AV industry for 10+ years from doing front of house sound at venues to corporate AV at The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, so I naturally went back to that. What you have the most experience in pays you the best money and working in a non-profit environment is so rewarding and if I’m not on the road I’d prefer to be working in an environment like that where I’m working for something that’s greater than myself. My buddy Brett Durnell who plays lead guitar in the Seattle progressive amazing band Life As Cinema was the manager at Fred Hutch so he hired me on there. If

7) What can we expect to see from you in the remaining months of 2016 going forward into 2017?

I have plans for a series of “perspective” based videos for each of the songs on the EP that I’m planning on getting out before the year-end. I’d like to get back on the road, at the very least, in the Pacific Northwest or a quick run down the west coast. I’m also constantly writing new stuff and I’m planning on bringing more elements to the next release and get more of a full band vibe. I can’t get away from my roots for too long. I long to push the energy, but it’ll still keep a vibey sound for sure. It’s gotta groove.

8) Tell our readers one fun fact about yourselves that we may not know?

A fun fact…I’m originally from Wisconsin and for a short time (and hopefully again soon) I did some sports writing for a Wisconsin sports site titletownsoundoff.com covering The University of Wisconsin Badgers football for a couple seasons as well as a few feature spots for some Green Bay Packers related material. I’m a huge Badger and Packer fan.

9) Finally what advice would you have for upcoming musicians?

Be authentic. Don’t force yourself to write something just because it’s the “cool” sound right now. People’s “BS meters” are great and they will expose you. Plus, people want to connect with you and what you’re writing.

If you hang out with a “big” band when their in town and you’re trying to get something from them, they can see if from a mile away. They see it in every city. Just hang and buy them a beer. Bands take out their friends on tour. That’s how it works.

Also, don’t be afraid to take breaks. Feel it. Do what comes natural.

There you go readers, another one of our websites, talented followers, fans and friends Andy Lundman of Cliff Diver. Don’t be shy go say hi and tell him ‘Skatronixxx sent me!’

Be sure to check out his EP that’s available from iTunes now here . Also you can add him on social media at the following sites Facebook  , Youtube  and Twitter .
