Family Guy S15 E1 ‘The Boys in the Band’

http://vignette3.wikia.nocookie.net/familyguy/images/2/2b/MommyDaddysroom.png/revision/latest/scale-to-width-down/310?cb=20160901004736

Brian and Stewie are watching an extended cut of Willy Wonka in the Chocolate factory which is rather dirty. Family Guy is great because it offends everyone and doesn’t pull punches. I honestly think Seth McFarlane is a genius. Lois comes in upset they are watching it and puts on a wiggles like show. Of course Lois would come in and do that, she is like every mom, though Stewie is a baby so it makes sense.

Chris wants a tattoo and Lois suggests he get a part-time job. Chris is then seen driving to an airport to win back a girl in a romantic comedy joke. He then disgustingly is involved in an old woman.

Stewie annoyed by the Wiggles-esque show asks Brian to help create songs for babies.I love when Family Guy has songs because while they are usually crude they are great songs.

Chris can’t find work but soon ends up getting work as Quagmire’s assistant. He works really well as his assistant and helps him get into the groove with women. Quagmire has always been a ladies man but is really bad at keeping his ladies apart. It was humorous seeing Chris thrown into this weird world of Quagmire’s.

Stewie goes with Brian to a birthday party to sing a song and they see Olivia, Stewie’s ex. After a brilliant performance Olivia decides she needs to be with Stewie. Soon she is his “number one” fan and president of his fan club.

Lois is upset that Chris is working for Quagmire because Quagmire is an awful influence. Though she is happy that Chris is succeeding. It’s quite the dilemma for a parent to face when they want their child to be happy but really have to weigh the costs. We wouldn’t want Chris to be a second Quagmire….or would we? Nahh.

Stewie and Brian are really doing a good job performing. Olivia wants to kick Stewie out of the band and take his place. She is truly is antagonistic to Stewie who just wants to find something special.

In the end, Olivia kicks Brian out of the band and replaces him with Vinnie. I think it is hilarious that Vinnie was Brian’s replacement. Vinnie ma have only been around for a little bit, but he does have a place on this show and I think he will probably keep appearing from time to time.

A good season premiere with lots of laughs and good humor.  I love that there is a “Future” glimpse of Stewie and he is a mash-up of Peter and Lois. Again the songs were something that made this episode that much better, and I can’t wait for more songs to pop up. Family Guy is back and I’m ready to see what other antics this family gets into this season!

Son of Zorn S1 E2 Defender of Teen Love

https://jmunney.files.wordpress.com/2016/09/son-of-zorn_defender-of-teen-love.png?w=500

Zorn is looking through his stuff and finds the stone of sight which he says he should break it. He then pulls out a Game Boy. It really is refreshing seeing an animated character playing an old game boy.

His son is trying to court the girl from the previous episode but Zorn stops him with “humor”. Zorn really does have good intentions underneath his terrible spirit.

Zorn is doing a terrible job at work. If he doesn’t make a sale he will be fired. He calls to apologize to his son. He thinks that girls are instantly charm-able by corn nuts. He ends up trying it out on the girl and it works but he doesn’t have the corn nuts.

Hal goes to see his dad and shows him the Stone of Sight. Calling Nancy’s name while showing holding the stone shows Nancy. Of course this his how the awful man named Zorn is getting ladies. He really doesn’t care for much but violence and while he may be smart and strong he is an awful person. So of course he has some all seeing eye, the sleazebag.

Using the insight of the stone Hal works on wooing Nancy. It works out well because he knows exactly what she likes. I almost wish I had this stone, but at the same time with great power comes great responsibility. I don’t know if I would always use this responsibly.

Zorn is exposed using the stone and his ex-wife locks it up. His son calls asking for more “advice”. Zorn gets an Uber and goes to spy on Nancy. Soon he is caught by her dad who has noticed they are loitering. He calls him Vietnamese which sets him off and he kicks a dent in the Uber. Oh Zorn, why are you such a sleaze? At least he was doing it to help his son this time.

Nancy is dating another guy and of course didn’t tell Hal. Zorn gives him good advice for once about letting go of the past. Zorn breaks the Stone of Sight stopping its use. Zorn restarts his relationship with his ex-wife’s fiance, and asks him to buy from him. He then makes his first sale, taping the stone together to watch what he hopes is chaos he sees the opposite. He breaks the stone again in anger.

This show continues to be interesting, I’m not sure how well its doing ratings wise, but I do enjoy it all the same.

Simpsons S28 E1 Monty Burn’s Fleeing Circus

https://i1.wp.com/cdn1us.denofgeek.com/sites/denofgeekus/files/styles/article_width/public/2016/09/simpsons-time_0.jpg

The couch gag is one of the greatest parts of every Simpsons episode. This couch gag was probably one of my favorites as it took on the guise of Adventure Time. There was even a simpsonized version of the classic theme song. The Simpsons are an iconic institution that really does take from what is around it and basically catalogs it for future reference in a lot of ways

After the amazing couch gag  we see the Simpsons walking. They look up shocked to see that the town is in shock about something. The lard lad statue is gone. They go and have a riot where half the crowd is fixing the damage and the other is damaging it making the damage zero.

There is a new lard lad statue and it creates a vicious beam of light that wrecks all of the town. Mayor Quimby tells them they will rebuild the city but after a good amount of time the town is still damaged irreparably.

The Simpsons go to Mr. Burns who reluctantly says he will fix the town if he can put on a variety show.

Mr. Burns flashes back to his childhood when he was ready to perform. His mother licks him like a lolly which is rather unnerving. I love that his flashback is sepia to show how old this monstrous man actually is.

Mr.Burns decides to go to the school to find performers and ends up enlisting Lisa to be his assistant.

With Mr.Burns gone the plant goes to hell. They all party all day and swim in radioactive waste. Truly just a deplorable way to work in a plant.

At the stage Mr.Buns is checking out the performing prowess of the child but it is disheartening. His performance in the past made him a laughing stock and started his bitter past.

Lisa says she hates the show and Burns cancels it. Lisa is such a troublesome character because she is so honest.

Lisa goes to fix things with Burns and is shown his childhood performance. She realizes that he needs to fix this memory and wants to help him do that.

Homer goes into stop the party at work but it won’t be so easy. It’s humorous seeing Homer try and stop the fun when he doesn’t really do his job on a regular basis.

At the performance the children actually put on a good show. There are even guest appearances by Maude Flanders and Edna Krabappel. The show goes off without a hitch until Mr.Burns goes to his childhood act. He ends up mooning the audience once again. Sad yet funny. He then watches Lisa play saxophone while Smithers makes his body react. Smithers is such a weirdo loving this decrepit old man, but he is wonderful because he really stands by the man he loves.

Lisa wonders why they are always cursed with bad luck and it shows their ancestors being cursed by Mary ala Bewitched style magic. In the final moment the statue is melted and Ralph is covered by the melted steel.

Bob Burger’s Premiere S6 E1-Fluoise

http://vignette1.wikia.nocookie.net/bobsburgerpedia/images/5/58/Fluise.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20151009180114

Louise has the flu and she is definitely so excited to miss school. She decides to camp out in her bedroom with her stuffed animals. They are all japanese style characters and Linda just decides to call them all Hello Kitty. This is similar to so many other parents who just can’t remember all of the things their kids like. Especially when you bring into account the japanese nature of the toy.

Louise needs Kuchi Kopi who is her favorite toy. She uses it as her bathroom buddy and when Linda goes to get it she drops in the toilet. Filled with water they put in the oven to dry it out and it gets mashed.

They bring it back to her and she swears she will never forgive them for what they have done.

Louise and the family sing about Kuchi Kopi and soon in a fever dream Louise falls into her rug and into a weird world with Kuchi Kopi as her ally. This is definitely in the vein of Wizard of Oz which isn’t a bad thing.

Kuchi tells Louise they should go to his fortress.

Bob and family are troubled by the wrecking of Kuchi. Teddy calls and suggests he fix it with his heat gun.

Bakoneko is Bob. He sings about the darkness of Kuchi’s palace. Louise and Bakoneko fight and Louise soundly beats him.

Mokuro is voiced by Linda and is a drunk just like Linda. This octopus just wants to get wasted and party with her friends but of course the fortress is stopping that.

Louise meets the last two monsters voiced by Gene and Tina. She stops their song and steals their monster trucks.

Bob and Teddy go to a toy store and because Bob hasn’t read the Kuchi Kopi Books the owner starts reading them to the pair. This store is clearly a japanese themed store which is really quite nice. In fact this isn’t the first time Bob’s Burgers has shown off japanese ideas even showing off a Totoro-esque scene in a prior episode. i enjoy that Bob enjoys the story too!

Louise gets to the fortress and sings all about the fortress. Suddenly the unbent Kuchi Kopi appears and the two bicker. Good Kuchi tells her to forgive her family and not wall herself off. If Louise pushes the button then the fortress will be destroyed and her family will be forgiven. She pushes the button knowing she does have to forgive her family.

Louise forgives her family because of what she learned in her fever dream. They do love her, and they only tried to fix what they broke. She also forgives them because Bob went and got her a replacement.

In the credits Louise dances with the Kuchi brothers and the other toys from her dream.

Regular Show: In Space S8 E4 ‘Space Creds’

https://i0.wp.com/www.watchcartoononline.com/thumbs/Regular-Show-Season-8-Episode-4--Space-Creds.jpg

Mordecai and Rigby are loving space but they are  little bored. They soon see a commercial that tells of hover boots and of course they want them.

No one wants to  buy the boots for them and they are saddened by this. They all know that these boots are too dangerous especially for a pair of dunderheads like Mordecai and Rigby. When Muscleman and Hi Five Ghost show off their hover boots they are invited to a party and Mordo and Rigs aren’t. Whenever Muscleman gets something it really does push the guys to get it, because he really is the worst.

Suddenly they are told by a crew mate that someone needs help. They are tasked by a sexy scientist named Jessica to head into her plant monster and to save her husband. If they do they will be rewarded with enough money to buy the hover boots they so desire. The monster quickly eats them and it is quite disgusting. The artists are really good at crafting things to look as real as possible. As soon as they fall through the maw they land in a large forest.

Armed with only lasers they look for Craig and it is quite hard. The only light they have is the glow emitted by their lasers. They are trapped by a plant monster and are saved by Craig.

Craig, Jessica’s husband has really grown accustomed to living inside the plant monster. She pushed him into the monster when he said they need to stop with these experiments. The humorous thing is that this only happened yesterday. To get so buff in that short of a time is nothing but a miracle. They tell her they are ready to bring him back and when they get out she aims a laser gun at them.

Jessica is obsessed with her plants and the necklace her husband took from her. She is soon eaten by her monster an then Craig jumps in to save her, they are then eaten together. Really actually quite a beautiful scene to show two people fall back in love. Clearly the wonders of space can separate people and it takes true caring to bring them back together.

With their credits they earned they are instantly hurt by their hover boots as they are a dangerous thing to own. I wonder if they will have these boots in later episodes. Or will this just be one time thing? Only time will tell. All I know is I did enjoy this episode.

Regular Show: In Space S8 E3 Welcome to Space

https://i2.wp.com/www.watchcartoononline.com/thumbs/Regular-Show-Season-8-Episode-3--Welcome-to-Space.jpg

The dome finishes blasting through lightspeed and are introduced to their new space friends. They arrive at the home base a space tree. All of the domes are being brought here to be kept safe. This show is really something to behold.

The gang is told they are here to bring parks to space. They will be trained and then travel through space to set up parks. Classified images pop up and the chief blocks the screen, clearly something is fishy.

Benson doesn’t want to take part in this experience at all. He is upset that he was lied to too and just wants to go home. He runs off and runs into a door that he assumes leads to Earth. It is interesting that Benson is the one who is against those but honestly it make sense. He really only feels that he has it in him to manage a park.

As he lands he is beset upon by the press. He gets away from them and finds that his apartment has been taken by a group of young people. He then tries to  get a job but since he is a terrible being he is fired.

He soon ends up as a hobo and his only possession is the tape that Mordecai gave him. He watches it and it shows all the guys and Eileen saying nice things about how Benson should stay in space.

He runs out of a door and finds himself back on the space ship. Turns out he was just in a simulator. He is now fully ready to stay on the ship because he cares about all of these guys.

Such a deep episode for all that is worth. Benson needed a wake up call and I am glad he was able to get one so easily. Clearly this episode is foreshadowing that all of the guys are going to need to be together to face what is coming next.

Regular Show: In Space S8 E2 Cool Bro Bots

Image result for Cool Bro Bots

The Trust No one message appears on the screen as they group runs into the house to hide. Soon the door is blasted open and green faced aliens walk in. They are actually helper bots or so they say. The group huddles up and Benson is the one to ask if they are really going to help. They soon create a device that uses natural stuff to send them back to Earth. Though Regular Show always starts out simple, things usually heat up pretty quickly.

Mordecai and Rigby don’t trust the robots and watch them closely. Rigby thinks they are just a little too nice. They see one of the robots taking bags of stuff that would help them get back to Earth into their space ship.

They cover themselves in foil and sneak on the ship. One of the robots designates himself a reaper bot and deposits the foliage to gain 2000 credits. Sounds like a pretty good job, if you can drop 2 bags of leaves and net that much money. I wonder what the exchange rate is.

They show the robots the text and find out is an ad for Papa Quasar’s pizza. The reaper bot brings in pizza and Mordecai and Rigby tell them to leave. Soon Humans appear with guns in hand.

A metallic Paul Bunyan and Babe the Blue Ox appear to harvest. This show always goes above an beyond in doing what it wants. The creators really are genius to be able to think of so many great ideas. The “helper” bots finally show their true colors and a battle ensues. This show really is anything but regular!

They destroy the villain’s ship but aren’t able to destroy the Bunyan Robot until Rigby smashes his gun and a blast hits his beard. They fire at that weak point until the mech falls over.

I’m really curious what is going to happen in the upcoming episodes. The new allies lead them to Pop’s room which turns out to be their control room. Looks like they won’t be going back to Earth anytime soon. This final season is looking to be something amazing a true send off that this show deserves. Tommorrow we get two more episodes, with every one we are closer to this wonderful show’s end. I’m honestly both excited  to watch more and sad to see it go.

Regular Show: In Space S8 E1 ‘One Space Day at a Time’

https://i.ytimg.com/vi/u1Vk8IXo0Vw/maxresdefault.jpg

Regular Show’s final season starts out with a brief recap with the domed park blasting into space. The world is thrown into chaos as parks are shot into space. Margaret looks sadly up into the sky. I do hope she ends up with Mordecai in the end!

Benson finally breaks the fax machine attached to his body by the scientists. The park gang and Eileen all freak out until Mordecai takes charge. Mordecai may be the master slacker but he does have moments of leadership quality.  They just have to handle it one day at a time.

Benson holds a meeting splitting off the group to make things work. Eileen and Pops go to find food while Muscle Man and Hi Five’s head to find salvageable parts. Soon they come back with a pile of garbage that actually will come in handy.

Mordecai and Rigby of course goof off when they find space golf carts. This duo is truly hilarious together and they definitely know how to goof off. I really do feel like they have grown up throughout the series which is awesome even though it may not be so much.

Eileen creates a satellite and it works for a moment giving them hope of contacting Earth. It soon breaks apart leading to Benson freaking out. Benson and Rigby come to blows when Benson says this is all Rigby’s fault. Though they all did press the button thinking doing so would destroy the dome. So really they were equally at fault, though Benson can’t admit that.

Mordecai and Rigby fly out to space and soon get a message that says Trust No One. Muscleman and High Five Ghost go to save them when they hit a satellite. Pressing buttons they soon press a button that starts a crane game. Muscleman finally manages to grab the car and brings them back. Skips is quickly trying to climb up to the moon door which he does manage to open.

Darkness falls over the dome and they think its the sun setting but its a ship. Dun Dun Dun!

Amazing World Of Gumball SN6 EP4 – ‘The Boredom’

https://i1.wp.com/img.youtube.com/vi/9PK2dzeQkEQ/sddefault.jpg

Gumball and Darwin sit bored in their room. As they sit Darwin’s butt becomes fossilized to the carpet and then Gumball is rooted in place. This show is really so clever and punny. Unbeknownst to them the world actually very interesting.

The moon and the sun who are a couple in certain episodes are fighting. The moon wants to light the planet but obviously can’t. She says she wants to fight the sun who points out she can’t as he is 9.5 million miles away.

The Police Chief who is actually a doughnut is throwing donuts into his mouth. As he empties the box he begins driving fast to the doughnut shop. He speeds past another cop who calls him on his car radio and tells him about a speeder. Everyday at four he rushes to get donuts and thus is always the speeder he is chasing. So its quite humorous.

Banana Joe tries out a light saber but is to stupid to use it right. After he is given a lollipop the scientist throws out the saber in a dumpster filled with his other inventions. They are all actually brilliant inventions like a time machine and a hover board.

The Fingerprint bandit sings a song, talking about why he went to crime. He just wants to apologize but ends up stealing a car in the end.

They head to the mall in hopes of something else cool happening. There is a ridiculous scene that plays out but it ends up blocking out the cool bits. Of course this just makes Gumball give up as he is prone to do.

Gumball and Darwin head home and sit there watching the clock. As they sit there bored their house is lifted up by a crane. First the town rolls by and then shots of Clarence, Regular Show, and Uncle Grandpa show up. This is the first time Gumball has had a crossover with any show. I always think crossovers are something fun, and like that this happened.

Suddenly there is a knock at the door and a dwarf who is clearly a reference to Gimli from Lord of the Rings appears. He tells them he has a quest and needs two brave souls. Gumball and Darwin point him to two nerdy guys who love fantasy.

In another reference the nerds fly off on Falkor or at least a creature resembling him.

Gumball muses that life doesn’t just knock on your door it is up to you to make your own life. Darwin suggests they do something but Gumball says he isn’t a doer, he is a moaner. This episode is really good. It showcases other characters in their odd lives but ties it up with Gumball’s thoughts. When you are a kid boredom can seem like its always around. Gumball was right that it is up to you to make your life what you want it to be. If Gumball wasn’t a moaner I don’t think this show would be half as funny. His attitude about life does drive the show in many ways.

Steven Universe SN4 EP7 – ‘Onion Gang’

https://i.ytimg.com/vi/lQkHmM_4ZUk/hqdefault.jpg

Onion Gang starts off with Steven and Onion bouncing on the couch. Steven is tired because they’ve been doing it for two hours. We find that out through Steven’s game where he talks through what Onion is doing and thinking.

Onion hears his dad coming in from his fishing work and runs out of the house. The next day he returns and offers Steven his hand. Leading him on a walk he guides Steven to a clearing in the woods.

Suddenly they are beset by masked beings. The masks look similar to Shy Guys and I find that to be humorous. As the attack him Steven thinks he is done for but soon realizes he is safe. They take off their masks to reveal they are just kids.

The first kid only can say Garbanzo which is his name. He has his baby sister in his backpack and Steven guesses correctly that her name is pinto. Another boy lifts up his hat to reveal his name is Squash while the last child is named Soup. Onion’s gang of friends are all named after food and that is humorous as well.

Steven hangs out with these kids who really aren’t necessarily sane. Their choice of activities are slightly suspect just like Onion has been this entire time. The first thing they do is show off a car they built. As they drive around they crash and Garbanzo who is driving falls off. He smashes a ketchup packet on his face and pretends to have died. This is a pretty powerful scene just because of Steven’s reaction. He immediately thinks the boy has died and wants to call the cops. Onion stops him and he realizes it is all a joke.

They then take out a trench coat and pretend to be a grown up. Steven who is just a good boy tries to really act like an adult. The kids open the jacket and take a picture surprising the gentleman Steven is talking to. They show off that they have done this to many people in town and have their pictures on display.

The last little game they play is a live bug race. Steven picks a stag beetle and it wins. They bring him to a stump and give him a hammer telling him to squish the bug. Steven is not one to cause anyone pain and drops the hammer running away. He thinks Onion is acting like his friend because he pities him.

He runs home and soon Onion comes to find him. He breaks the screen door to drop off Steven’s stag beetle and he has a change of heart. He runs after Onion and finds that his friends are leaving. It turns out they are just summer friends, and they have to leave. Steven tells Onion that he will always have him to play with if he’d like that.

This is a really sweet episode that introduces us to a side of Onion we haven’t seen before. It is also touching because it shows off what kids feel in a genuine way. When you have friends that you only see certain parts of the year every moment and memory is far more special. I really enjoyed seeing Onion as a true child even though he might be a little odd.
