“POTTER! Get Me Pictures Of Spider-Man!” – Daniel Radcliffe Wanted To Be Spider-Man

spider-potter

Spider-Potter, Spider-Potter

Does whatever a Spider-Potter does

Casts a web, from his wand

No it’s not that one dangling down there

Look out!

Here comes the Spider-Potter.

This would likely be the theme to Daniel Radcliffe’s Spider-Man, as he recently revealed to Metro that he would have liked to have played Spider-Man. ‘I would’ve been a good Spider-Man but the boat has sailed on that and I’m very happy to watch Tom Holland do it. He’s fantastic,’ he told the online newspaper, before adding ‘I love superhero movies’.

Of course, Daniel Radcliffe is most famous for playing Harry Potter  in the Harry Potter series. When asked about whether he’d join another franchise, he said ‘I’m not sure if I’d sign up for something that was another seven or eight films or ten years, but a shorter franchise, yeah,’

He also spoke to Digital Spy of his desire to join Game of Thrones (‘If they want to just bring me in and f**king kill me, I would be so happy to do that,’) and the Disney character he would most like to play (‘I would have a go at either Panic or Pain, the two little demons that run around Hades [in Hercules],’).

Whilst we won’t be seeing Spider-Potter on the big screen anytime soon, here’s hoping we can see The Potter Torch instead…providing Marvel Studios claim the rights back for Fantastic Four.

Spider-Man: Homecoming starring Tom Holland as the legendary web-slinger will be swinging into cinemas 7th July 2017. You can see Daniel Radcliffe ride a farting corpse in his latest film Swiss Army Man from today (Friday 30th September).

Luke Cage Delayed Marvel’s Iron Fist

The Netflix/Marvel series have been incredibly successful in the last few years, adding a new dimension to the Marvel Universe. In 13 episode runs, the characters are given room to breathe and develop, and the launch of the series every six months or so is considered to be a big event. Fans were delighted when it was announced that four solo shows – Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist – would be made in the run up to The Defenders, which would feature all four heroes. However, while Murdoch, Jones and Cage hit the screens fairly quickly, Iron Fist‘s Danny Rand seemed to be nowhere in sight. Some fans even thought they might not even get the series at all.

Luke Cage showrunner Cheo Coker is taking the blame for that one. In a recent interview with Complex, he explained that originally it was all going to be taken quite slowly and Iron Fist was scheduled to come before Cage, however the momentum built up by Daredevil and Jessica Jones meant they decided to jump in and make them quicker. Luke Cage’s popularity in Jessica Jones made him the obvious choice choice for the next new show. Coker said, “Marvel went from, ‘We’re gonna take our time’ to ‘Let’s flip it and do Luke Cage first. We’ve got this great concept and this guy is leaping off the screen, let’s follow the momentum.’”

Don’t worry Rand fans, you won’t have to wait too long! Game of Thrones star Finn Jones was recently cast as the leading man in the Iron Fist series, and it’s due to land next year. The trailer was shared at San Diego Comic Con, and if you missed it, here it is:

Luke Cage launches on Netflix TOMORROW!!! (30th September) Hooray!!

After a recap of the Season 3 Premiere things begin.

Bruce wakes up blindfolded in the Court of Owls office. The head of the court talks to him and orders him to give up all his evidence. Bruce wants to take down this organization and wants to make a deal. They make an agreement with the stipulation that he will stop investigating the court or the murder of his parents. He is knocked out and removed from the premises.

Gordon wakes up to a knock at his door and it is one Valerie Vale. She needs Selina Kyle to help take down Fish Mooney. Gordon goes to see Barbara to find out if she knows where Selina is. She will only tell him where Selina is if he kisses her. Her insanity really does make her character shine.

Valerie leaves Gordon in the lurch for not letting her find Peabody.

With Ivy being pushed down into the pipe her transformation has occurred. The young Ivy is now the voluptuous version of herself. She is nonetheless surprised by the change. She meets a man and calls herself Ivy.

Valerie tells Bullock where Fish Mooney is and they head off to take her down. A battle soon ensues between the monsters and the coppers. In the chaos Fish ducks out.

Penguin speaks out about Fish beginning his bid for Mayor. He is going to stop at nothing to destroy the monsters and kill Fish.

Bruce wakes up in the manor, surprised. He wants to keep his word but Alfred warns the Court may not keep their word.

Gordon goes to the GCPD and talks to Lucius Fox.  They found the mummified Ethel Peabody and Gordon is shocked by the sight. Bullock is met by two of Fish’s Monsters and taken to see Fish. Fish kisses him so he will help her find Strange. Their relationship has always been a twisted one. There was once something there, and the tension is often quite palpable.

Ivy is not a fan of the man who rescued him especially when he tosses out a houseplant.

Gordon goes to talk to Commissioner Barnes about Bullock and Barnes is upset that he is even there. Barnes won’t tell him where the lab where Strange is but he will take him there. Bullock leads Fish to the location and tries to get in, the guards are killed by the monsters and Fish easily strolls in finding Strange in a plexiglass cube. BD Wong’s portrayal of Strange really is stellar.

Fish wants Strange to fix her and then create her an army. Strange tells her he can’t fix her, which clearly is true based on his demeanor when she tells him to rethink his answer. These characters all work so well with the terrible character that is Fish. If a cop comes within 20 feet of the building Harvey will die. Such a diabolical woman, Fish woul kill the man she loves. Suddenly, the press led by Valerie Vale charge in and are blocked off by the cops. Penguin is so happy that Fish is cornered and is gathering his friends to take out Fish.

Fish nearly cries begging Strange to fix her, she really is just over the top. Penguin leads his army on an attack on the manor where Strange is being held. Gordon always ready to do whatever it takes sneaks in the back door.He is soon beset upon by the two monsters Fish has with her.

Gordon only wants to save Bullock and nothing else matters. He has a way to get her out of there if she will give him Bullock. Gordon tells Penguin to send his mob in and then he will get Fish. The two monsters die at the hand of the mob as Penguin finds Fish.

Fish didn’t kill Penguin because he is hers. She says the greatest thing she ever did was turn him into the Penguin. Penguin doesn’t kill her because of his emotions. As the mob cheers for Penguin, Gordon sees that Penguin clearly didn’t kill Fish.

Dressed in a sultry green dress Ivy walks out having killed her savior with the potted plant.

Alfred decides Bruce needs to be taught how to dance. The window breaks and in walks Bruce’s clone, begging not to be hurt.

Valerie goes to see Gordon and tells him about the story of Fish’s escape which is bogus. She saw the events unfold, and realizes Fish isn’t dead.Valerie and Jim kiss as Jim’s ex Lee walks off a train. Looks like the drama train has come to the station.

Excited for next week’s episode Mad City: Look Into My Eyes, and the Mad Hatter’s first appearance.

Monty The Dinosaur #2 Review

If you missed my review of Monty the Dinosaur #1 check it out here

Monty The Dinosaur # 2 continues to be a great all-ages book. With Monty’s Origin story out of the way Bob Frantz and Jean Franco flex their creative muscles a lot more and up the silliness and fun. In this issue we see Sophie try to get  Monty enrolled in her school because dinosaurs need to learn to right? We also see Monty and Sophie figure out where to find out where to get Bananas when the world is completely out of them.

In this issue we see Sophie try to get  Monty enrolled in her school because dinosaurs need to learn to right? We also see Monty and Sophie figure out where to find out where to get Bananas when the world is completely out of them. We get some more humour than the first issue which works well and once again is a pleasure to read in general.

Bob Frantz & Jean Franco maintained the same excellent quality in all departments from issue one. I have had a chance to chat with Bob a little bit since my review of issue one, and he has referred to it as a silly book, and I agree with him, but it’s silly in a good entertaining way. Again pick up this series and spread the silly fun around with everyone.

10/10

We have just one more issue left of Monty The Dinosaur for 2016! The trade will be available in November and I just confirmed with Bob there will be more Monty some time in 2017!

Monty The Dinosaur will be released tomorrow in comic book stores

Iron Fist Writer Joins Runaways Team

It was recently announced that US streaming service Hulu will be making a series of Marvel’s Runaways. The comics, which ran from 2003-2009, features a group of super-powered teenagers who discover their parents are part of an evil crime organisation, known as “The Pride”. Even though it finished seven years ago, it has remained a fan favourite, and it’s ensemble cast lends itself very well to a TV adaptation.

It had already been released that the showrunners would be Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage (Gossip Girl) and executively produced by Marvel TV stalwarts Jeph Loeb and Jim Chory. Yesterday, Iron Fist writer Tamara Becher announced that she too has joined the team bringing Runaways to the screen.

Beacher is no stranger to teen ensemble casts, as she formally wrote for Joss Whedon‘s classic Buffy: The Vampire Slayer. She has just finished work on the Netflix/Marvel series Iron Fist, due for release next year, and she obviously impressed the comic moguls, as they’ve snapped her up quickly for this new project.

It’s not the first time Marvel has collaborated with someone other than Netflix to produce a TV series; Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is on ABC. The difference here is that Hulu is another streaming service, rather than a comer coal network, making it a direct competitor with Netflix. At present, it’s unclear whether the Runaways series will link in to the wider Marvel Cinematic Universe, like Daredevil, Jessica Jones and AoS have, or whether it will be standalone.

Wretches #1 Review

apex-1-2.jpg

Wretches #1 was made possible by the creative team of writer James E. Roche artist Salomon Farias, colourists Chunlin Zhao and letterer Jamie Me. The Wretches Team also had a successful Kickstarter Campaign back in April 2016 raising about $1,200.00 above the funding goal.

Official Synopsis from James E. Roche:

Wretches, at its core, is a story about family, sacrifice, and loss. Siblings, Shea and Sean, were forced to grow up on the streets of an alien city, far from the lifeless planet they’d once called home. Now, all grown up, they capture other beings for the promise of reward – specializing in hunting the robots they’d once shared their home planet with. Still suffering emotionally from the loss of everything they’d ever known and loved, these siblings have nothing else in the universe but each other. Until, they no longer even have that. Once one of them is kidnapped, the other will tear the entire galaxy apart to get them back.

The opening of Wretches starts with dialogue all too familiar with people. The somewhat stereotypical declarations parents tell us as children. That nothing bad will ever happen to us, promising they will always be there for us and many other promises. You see our main characters Shea and Sean struggle to make a life for themselves while working together to make a living as bounty hunters.

apexwar_11-opening

James has created a good pace for Wretches. The dialogue doesn’t overburden you with information it gives just what you need to know, and the story never stagnates with a nice balance of plot revealing and action.

Salomon’s Art overall is decent with a couple of panels standing out to me as off, with some body proportions and a couple of facial expressions. That being said there are some well-done memorable action scenes.

Chunlin’s colours work well with the art and have great shadowing and lighting throughout the issue. Jamie’s lettering is pleasant to read and has a good word balloon flow.

Overall Issue #1 of Wretches is a good introduction to a new Sci-FI universe with a satisfying ending that should peak reader’s interest enough to want issue #2. There is currently no official date yet for the release of issue #2 yet but stay tuned to Skatronixxx as we will let you know as soon as we are aware.

Imogen Poots Cast in I Kill Giants Movie

Toronto Film Festival gave us some great upcoming movie scoops this year- particularly for comic book fans. The Internet was awash with stories about the latest Guardians of the Galaxy film, and Variety has reported that rising star Imogen Poots (That Awkward Moment) has been cast in upcoming comic adaptation I Kill Giants. The film will also star GotG leading lady Zoe Salanda and teen sweetheart Madison Wolfe (True Detective).

The film is based on the 2008 Image comic by Joe Kelly (who also wrote the screenplay) and J. M. Ken Niimura. The story focuses on a geeky outsider called Barbara (Wolfe) who escapes into a world of fantasy. Barbara is a great young female protagonist, especially for people who don’t quite feel like they fit in.

Salanda will play Barbara’s school psychologist Ms Molle, and it has not yet been reported what role Poots will play. The film will be directed by award winning Danish film maker Anders Walter.

I Kill Giants is due to start filming in late September, and due for release in 2017.
