My Hero Academia Gets A Second Season (And Why It’s Great For Anime newbies)

One of the best new anime out there is My Hero Academia. It was recently announced that this stellar anime is getting a second season. Now, I really do think that this Anime deserves all of the praise that it gets. It is just a wonderful anime with humorous characters and a wonderful story of a boy becoming a man.

Our young hero is training to become a superhero.  He goes to an academy in a world where  nearly everyone has a super power. At first this young boy is powerless but that is all about to change when he meets his greatest hero.

Now, I won’t tell you how he gets these powers or how he meets his idol but I will say it is awesome. Deku is on his way to becoming a great hero due to his endless spirit. To have such high hopes when for so long you’ve been put down is incredible. I truly think that this anime is going to be one of the best.

I think that honestly, this is a great show for anime newbies to watch. If you are a fan of action shows and superheros it is for you. I think that because of its high superhero aura, it would be a perfect transition for someone who has yet to see any anime. While it is definitely an anime it has enough Americanized Superheroics that it works as an intro show.

I remember growing up, watching Justice League, and that was one of my first real action shows. Soon I found Anime but I digress. If you are a fan of superheroes absolutely give this a shot.

The cool thing is that since this is a new show, there are only thirteen episodes. Now, in the future I will be telling you about my favorites which have upwards of 500 episodes. Starting with a short anime like this could be amazing. Plus it is subbed in English and already Dubbed so you can watch it however you like.

I will be posting a season one review soon so look forward to that! As always tweet me @Starkwyvrngamer.

Deadpool 2 To Start Filming Early 2017

rsz_deadpool1

During an appearance at the Saturn awards Producer of the first Deadpool film Simon Kinberg revealed to Collider that the filming of Deadpool 2 is likely to start early next year (2017). This makes perfect sense due to the sequels release dates rumoured to be March 2018 despite the film being given a larger budget than the first it appears that it will still be a lean production so a year should be the right amount of time for Tim Miller to finish filming.

The sequel has a lot to live up to due to the immensely successful outing of box office hit of the first film. Other details of the sequel have been pretty much non existent but it would be surprising if T.J. Miller, Morena Baccarin, Stefan Kapicic, and Brianna Hildebrand would turn down the chance to return for the sequel. What we do know about the sequel is that we will see the first appearance of Cable as teased at the end of the first Deadpool film, actors who have already expressed a public interest in the role range from Ron Perlman (My personal favourite) to Dolph Lundgren.

I for one cannot wait to hear more details regarding this film and as most people are touting the first Deadpool film as one of the best films released in 2016 could we see Deadpool 2 be the highest grossing R-rated film of 2018.

Daredevil SN1 EP5 – ‘ World On Fire ‘

World_on_Fire

This episode works by lulling the viewer into a false sense of security. It starts out like a day at the office for these characters. Foggy and Nelson take on a new client. Fisk and Vanessa have another dinner date. Matt and Claire conflict over their ideologies.

Even before the big action happens, this episode works. Naturally the dialogue scenes flesh out characters. We learn about Fisk’s unique honor system and bizarre but sincere affection for Vanessa. There is a great scene where Matt reveals how he uses his senses to “see” – as the title implies, he is able to build pictures in his mind that resemble fire. These scenes also effectively show the unusual comparisons and contrasts between Daredevil and Kingpin. Both are men who genuinely believe what they are doing, and both are willing to do whatever it takes to accomplish their goals.

These calms scenes are good, but they last long enough to lure us into thinking things will be normal – a few scenes with Daredevil in action and all. Then, Fisk’s plan goes into action and parts of Hell’s Kitchen begin going boom. Suddenly all these characters we’ve recognized either for the last few episodes or just this episode – are in real jeopardy. As everyone is scrambling to either figure out what is going on or simply survive, Daredevil springs into action. After trying to fight the real villains, Daredevil is cornered by the police. Every episode in the first season has been excellent, but this is the episode that works as a great turning point. Action scenes and romance/dialogue scenes are used to pace this episode and build suspense.

Brienne’s Beau Will NOT Be In Justice League

Tormund Giantsbane

Game of Thrones star Kristofer Hivju had been rumored to have joined the cast of  Justice League as an Atlantean King as recently as June 21, 2016.

Warner Bros has since refuted the claim. Apparently Kristofer was offered the role, but has turned it down because the part was too small.

Brienne and tormund

That’s okay.  He has a role in the upcoming flick Fast 8. AND he has his work cut out for him if he wants to win Brienne‘s heart. Although if she could see him cleaned up, she might change her mind pretty quickly!

Indiana Jones Official Release Date!

Indiana Jones

The Dark Tower – Update!!

dark_tower-730x730

The lid is firmly on for any news of the adaptation of Stephen Kings’ The Dark Tower. And by firmly on,  I mean chained down in a style that would defy Harry Houdini’s best efforts! That being said, there are a few morsels out there that I was able to find. Last month, some filming took place in Cape Town. There are leaked set pics out there on the net, but I have chosen not to include them, since that could potentially infringe.  If you have not seen them and would like to, they can be seen here.

‘Bryan Fuller’ Reveals Future Plans For ‘Hannibal’

When Bryan Fuller’s Hannibal came to an end during the summer of last year. The critical acclaimed showrunner and cast had expressed interest in returning to the twisted world of Dr. Hannibal Lecter at some point in the future. Be it a fourth season of the show, a series of special episodes or even a feature film. Fans hopes to see Fullers unique vision on-screen once more was at the very least, a possibility.

Well now it appears that Fuller himself confirmed that fans may actually get what they want sooner than we first thought.

In an interview with Collider, Fuller revealed that the complicated rights surrounding the show will be up for negotiation next year. “August 2017 is when we can actually start talking about it” confirmed the Tv show creator. “That’s when we would have to see what the rights are for the character and for the story, and see who’s interested and how we get it done.

During its tenure, the show had to constantly concede to legal rights with regards to characters and stories the writers were allowed to use. The NBC show had the rights to Thomas Harris’ Hannibal, Hannibal Rising and Red Dragon, with the latter making up a substantial part of Season 3’s second half. But intellectual properties like the character of Clarice Starling is still owned by MGM. Which means, should Fuller press ahead with an adaptation of Silence of the Lambs (the natural next step after Red Dragon), negotiations for the use of Starling will be tough going.

Not that Fuller seems bothered by the fight ahead, explaining that if “the cast is game, I’m game, [-] but I would love to continue to tell the story with Hugh Dancy and Mads Mikkelsen.

With Mikkelsen currently conquering Hollywood with appearances in Marvels upcoming Doctor Strange and Disney’s first Anthology Star Wars Story, Rogue One. Hopefully the actor will find time to once again bring one of literature, Tv and films most infamous serial killers to life.

He has until next year to clear his calendar. Get on it Mads!

What happens when two of Hollywood’s biggest stars team-up for a summer blockbuster? Pretty much what you’d expect from any other buddy film. Central Intelligence is an action-comedy of average proportions.

Not One But TWO Agatha Christie Biopics Planned!

Agatha-Christie_2469854b

I have long been a fan of Agatha Christie. I spent many, many happy hours (too many if you ask my mum) reading the adventures of Miss Marple and Hercule Poirot. And I recently discovered that my love of Agatha Christies’ work must be tied to a genetic marker or something, because one of my grandchildren also enjoys the little Belgian detective’s adventures, lol. What generation gap?

According to an article by joblo.com, and one at womenandhollywood.com, there is a treat upcoming at some point in the future for fans of Agatha Christie. It seems that two companies, Sony and Paramount, are waiting for approval from the Christie Estate before their respective projects can move forward. At first glance, Sony and Paramount appear to be competing, but I bet that Christie fans will want to see both versions. I know that I will. Sony is looking at her non-traditional life  as a whole, and Paramount appears to be concentrating on theories of what happened to Agatha during the 11 days of 1926 that she went missing. Did you know that David Tennant and Catherine Tate had an explanation for that period in Doctor Who Season 4 Episode 7 The Unicorn and the Wasp, lol?
