lucifer1-175385

Let see what our handsome Devil got up to this in this weeks episode of Lucifer……

After Maze betrayed Lucifer, she is definitely not his favourite person right now. She convinces him meet with a visitor that is asking after him. Lucifer meets with the mystery man and to his surprise the mystery man is a Priest. He was told that Lucifer was the man to see when you have run out of options. The priest suspects the head counsellor of the local youth centre is using the kids for his drug ring and requires Lucifer’s assistance to uncover the truth. He has a vested interest in one youth in particular, Connor, to which Lucifer is suspicious of the priests intentions.

The dynamic crime duo, Chloe and Lucifer go to the youth center to speak with the head counsellor. After knocking repeatedly and no answer Chloe looks thru the glass panel in the door and sees there has been a struggle, with one swift kick the door swings open and the find the body of the head counsellor. With suspicions falling on the Father, Chloe and Lucifer talk to two teenagers that frequent the youth center and but say that no way the Father could have done this. Lucifer is still suspicious of him and a background check reveals he had quite a wrap sheet be for becoming a priest.

Whilst all of this is happening, the Palmetto mystery is starting to unravel slowly, Malcolm is keeping tabs on Dan and now he’s fit for duty Malcom requested Dan as his partner, his first job “dirty job” for Dan is to acquire a had gun that can’t be traced so Dan get one from evidence locker. The priest is the target of a failed drive by attempt and requires a place to hide…..where better than LUX? Where all priests go to experience all things holy and safe. It is at this point the unlikely comrades strike up a friendship over non lit cigarettes and a love of the piano. Lucifer has a friend! The Father gets a call and when Chloe and Lucifer can’t find him they know he’s in trouble and head to the church where they find Conner holding a gun at the Father and the other youth counsellor (Spider) telling Conner to kill him, Conner can’t and drops the gun, Spider fires and the Father takes a bullet to the chest. Amenadiel calls on Malcom while he’s have a feast at a diner and reminds him why he brought him back. Lucifer takes The Father’s death hard and Chloe ditches dodgy Dan to go be with Lucifer.

Is our Devil is starting to win Chloe over?  What your take on dodge Dan and the Palmetto case?

Lucifer SN1 EP8 – ‘Et Tu, Doctor’

luc

Lucifer throws himself a birthday party as part of his rebirth, after burning his wings. Detective Decker goes to wish Lucifer a happy birthday, but he is disappointed when she shows up with Dan with her. The following morning Lucifer goes to apologize to his therapist Dr Linda Martin after their last visit, Dr Martin tells him he is making progress but Lucifer see that as the problem. Describes a new emotion he is feeling to Dr Martin as “a fat man siting on his chest” she asks if he gets that feeling when he is with Chloe? Lucifer says yes but manly when she with Dan (Chloe ex of sorts) could it be our handsome little Devil is experiencing jealousy? I think it is so, but the Devil doesn’t get jealous . He thinks its Chloe that needs therapy and asks Dr Martin to fix her.

The crime fighting duo, Detective Decker and Lucifer are at the office of a murdered therapist, who encouraged couple’s to cheat to save their marriages, Lucifer asks Decker if she has ever been to therapy for her issues with her pent-up anger, trust issues and attraction to boring douche bags? Lucifer sleep with a Judge to sign off on Dr. Martin working on the case ah the powers of persuasion hard at work.

Dr . Martin finds a lead in the case and Decker and Lucifer follow-up the lead. On route to the lead Lucifer asks Chloe why her and douche bag(Dan) split, she tell him because the job become more important than her rand their daughter, but lately something has changed in him, its funny how all of a sudden he wants to spend more time with Chloe and their daughter Trixie, he is clearly threatened by Lucifer. Chloe gets a call from Dr . Martin about the potential suspects, she says he may be dangerous not only to Chloe and Lucifer, but to Himself.

Arriving at his office, the Police and fire brigade are there and a weedy man Ricky is on the roof top of his building, threatening to jump, Lucifer goes up to talk to him and he tells Lucifer “you can’t stop me”, lucifer replies ” I’m not here to stop you if you want to jump go for it”, Lucifer says to Ricky I do have one question before you go, Im trying to understand jealousy and why you killed Dr Shaw? Ricky says he didn’t kill Dr. Shaw, even though Ricky made death treats against him, Dr. Shaw continue to see him. Lucifer realizes Ricky is just a sad human with not much going for him.

Once Ricky’s feet a firmly on the ground he tell Detective Decker and Lucifer that he seen Mrs Shaw to days ago but asked him not to tell her husband as she had a surprised for him, but when Detective Decker checked her alibi she was out-of-town and had an airline ticket, now with focus on Mrs Shaw Lucifer asks Dr Martin to meet him at his club to talk about the case, but in actual fact he wanted her to analyze detective Decker. Dr Martin arrives at Lucifer’s club and is met with the typical Maze attitude which is always switched to rude.

Chloe gets a call for dispatch from Dan, to meet him at her house, needless to say the Devil isn’t happy and has a little tantrum. When she arrives home she is shocked to see it’s not Dan but Malcom the dirty cop, he tells her that they are on the same team and that he thinks it was a cop who shot him, now this my own opinion but I think Melcome is right and I believe it could be Dan, there is just a suspicious air about him, I don’t trust him. Dr Martin and Chloe gang up on Lucifer and ask him why he is so obsessed with Dan lately, he accidentally spills the beans that he asked Dr Martin to fix her (Chloe). Lucifer gets Mrs Shaw to tell the truth and is surprised at what she has in the back of her car, she drove back into town with bags and bags of horse poo to throw at the woman she was accused of stalking Tiffany, Lucifer definitely got more than he bargained for. Dan shows up in the douchebage mobile as Lucifer called it, to see if Chloe was ok after her visit from Malcom

Lucifer takes off, and talks to the therapy group for Dr. Shaw’s patients, held by Dr. Medina and when Lucifer works out he’s the killer Dr. Medina attacked Lucifer holding a knife to his throat, its then that Lucifer realizes he’s not in the same position but we all know he’s kidding himself. Chole and Lucifer talk about her secret case and she mentions Malcom come to see her and that he believes he was shot by a cop. The go the to The Paddock Bar, and spot Palochy’s car, the bar is shut but the door is unlocked (apparently according to Lucifer). The club is pitch black, they find Palochy with a shot through the mouth and out the back of his head, they find a suicide note saying he was on the take, I think it was staged. Lucifer is on to his Brother and his new position as a Doctor a few rooms down from Dr. Martin. Melcome texts Dan to meet him and lets him know, that he knows Dan shot him. Lucifer confronts Maze and tells her there done, because she betrayed him.

Supernatural: The Hellatus is Over! SN11 EP 16 – Safe House’

jim

S11E16  Safe House

Written by:  Robbie Thompson

Directed by:  Stefan Pleszczynski

I’m so happy to be able to report that The Hellatus is over!  And, the cast and crew really knocked it out of the park this time with two of my favorite characters returning, Bobby (played by Jim Beaver) and Rufus (played by Steven Williams).  They’re not just my favorite; they’re two of the Famdom’s favorite too.

This was another MotW episode that will make you never want to do home improvement projects again.  The best line of the show happened even before “Then” appeared on my screen.

Knock, knock, knock.  Bobby flings open the door and there stands Rufus.  “Oh, good.  You’re home.  Listen, you gotta help me bury a body.”  Now, that’s #FriendshipGoals right there.  Of course, that scene is actually a flashback from S6E4 Weekend at Bobby’s…. but that doesn’t change the fact that it’s still the best line in the episode.

Sam and Dean investigate an attack on a child that left the little girl in a coma in the hospital and soon learn that Bobby and Rufus handled the same case a “handful of years ago” back when The Boys were trying to stave off The Apocalypse.  The entire episode is filled with scenes from both investigations as The Boys’ hunt mirrors that of the “Elder Statesmen”.

There are so many great moments that bring on cases of The Feels.  Once we learn that the MotW makes you see things that will keep you sad and heartbroken to make your soul weak and easy prey, Bobby is shown his boys (Our Boys) dead at the bottom of the stairs.  His response of “Oh, God” is full of pain and hit the whole Famdom hard… right in The Feels.  But, the one that hit me the hardest, was when Dean sees Bobby coming down the stairs.  *Smack* Right upside the feels… no no… I didn’t need those, I’ve got plenty more.  Thanks a lot Robbie Thompson (liberal use of the sarcasm font right there).

Oh Chuck, how I’ve missed Bobby, and even Rufus.  Thanks so much CW for the little visit with them… and showing us once again that just because you die on Supernatural, doesn’t mean you’re dead.

Speaking of Chuck, I made a small error in an earlier article.  In my defense, it was in the middle of Spring Hellatus and I was suffering severely from Winchester Withdrawals.  But, I said that the episode with the return of Chuck (played by Rob Benedict) was due to air on March 30th.  Actually, the episode S11E20 is due to air on MAY 4th.  Sorry about that… just another symptom of Winchester Withdrawals.

Next week, it’s the episode entitled Red Meat.  How could I forget it’s the one where Sam gets SHOT!  We’ll also see the return of Billie the Reaper (played by Lisa Berry).  Can’t wait to get smacked in The Feels again.

An Interview With British Director, Writer And Vfx Artist Luke Armstrong

luke

It’s interview time on http://www.skatronixxx.com, this time we feature highly talented and all round nice guy Luke Armstrong. Luke is a friend of top supporter of the site Johnny Sachon and has worked with him on various projects in the past.

I approached Luke for an interview and he said yes. I thought Luke would be an interesting person to interview for the site, given his background in the film industry. After all how many people can say they’ve worked with Groot and James Bond? But that’s enough spoilers from me. Let’s read on and find out some more about Luke Armstrong!

———————————————————————————————————————————-

1) Can you tell us how you got into being a screenwriter / director?

I started making films on a little camcorder at age 14 having been into photography from a young age,and it became an obsession. Over the years I made stacks of silly films & VFX sketches with my friends and eventually I ended up doing a degree, winning some awards for my films and doing VFX professionally. Now I do a bit of both!

2) You’ve worked on top Hollywood films such as ‘Guardians Of the Galaxy’, ‘Edge Of Tomorrow’, ‘Iron Man 3 ‘Spectre’’ and ‘Skyfall’, what was it like working on such big films and do you have any interesting stories from working on these films?

Yeah it was a dream to work on some of those, particularly the Bond movies for me I loved them as a kid, and seeing my work on the big screen and name in the credits of Skyfall was a highlight! It’s been a privilege working with the best in the business.

Lots but I’m sworn to secrecy. I think I can say I’ve been sent to set a few times. Once I went to Warner Brothers at short notice for Edge of Tomorrow. I walked right in between Tom Cruise and Doug Liman I had no idea they were there, until a few moments later they went for a take, called action and he started talking! He is an incredible actor.

3) You worked with friend of www.skatronixxx.com Johnny Sachon on the movie ‘Shadows’, what was it like working on the film and are you still going to produce a feature length version?

I did! I enjoy working with him, we bounce ideas around and I think we enable each other. We recently made another short called ‘The Service’ which is a spy thriller (You can see Shadows & The Service here: http://inspired-pictures.co.uk/). He’s a very good actor and I still think I have yet to get the best out of him as a director; I tend to neglect him on set because he’s so involved in the projects we do  and there is no time to finesse things on short films, but we’re actively working on the feature. It’s in the development phase at the moment and things are coming along nicely I don’t like to say too much but I’m looking forward to being able to talk about it more soon!

4) How do you feel about Hollywood producing more and more sequels to tried and tested films, rather than perhaps giving fresher ideas a shot?

I think there’s no harm in sequels, some of the most beloved films are sequels or prequels; i.e. Star Wars, the Bond films the Marvel films. We’re voting for them with our wallets. I would definitely like to see more small and medium sized films getting made too, and given a decent chunk of cash for marketing & theatrical run!

5) Do you have any fun stories from set?

When we were filming ‘Shadows’, we had paid to close a street to film a shootout between the Police and our characters. In the middle of the gunfire, this girl came out and told us she was moving house and a lorry was coming any minute right in the middle of where we were shooting. We hadn’t planned for that and only had one day at the location to get everything shot I was cracking up with laughter. You couldn’t make it up! Well the lorry turned out to be a small van, and we got our police stunt guys (in costume, with replica weapons hanging from their necks) to move all her things out of her house and into the van. She was amused and so were the small crowd of local residents who had gathered to watch us! it was all over within five minutes and we got back to the less serious business of filming.

6) You’ve been round the festival circuit, can you tell me anything about what these festivals are like, and how someone would go about entering a film into a festival?

Its all about picking the right festivals and finding out what they offer if you want exposure, or awards, you may enter different festivals than if you want to sell your film. You may want to choose festivals that recognise films for awards at the end, and are competently run. Some don’t, and aren’t!

We had one experience where a festival invited us for a test screening at the cinema they were using all was correct. When it came to screening, they used a different screen and our film was badly cropped!

It can be devastating when you take the time to make decisions about fine details, get into the cinema and see your film is being projected wrong the picture is cropped, the sound is off or whatever; after so much effort went into framing that way or mixing the sound so it wouldn’t be too quiet.

It’s also important to choose festivals that are a good fit for your genre. If you make a scifi film it is much harder to distribute on the festival circuit than a more classical drama there are just less festivals willing to accept them. There are services out there like withoutabox and film freeway that will make life easy for you when submitting.

7) Can you tell us about the SciFi London ’48 Hour Film Challenge’ ?

It involves a lot of caffeine, hysterical and delirious behaviour in the middle of the night suddenly the most mundane things become hilarious when sleep deprived at 4:30 am. It’s more about the doing than the end result I think. Everyone should try it at least once. We had a blast! Here was our entry from last year:

8) What can we expect to see from you in 2016?

I’m working on a music video for an insanely talented musician which should be all wrapped up in the next couple of months. I’m also working on the Shadows feature of course, which is taking up a lot of my time. Watch this space http://www.lukefilm.co.uk

9) Tell our readers one fact about yourself that they may not already know?

I lived in England, Scotland, Texas, and Singapore as a kid.

10) Finally what advice would you have for an upcoming screenwriter / director ?

Just make films have fun doing it, hone your craft and don’t worry about what people will like. You can do it with next to nothing. Listen to feedback, and any bit of good advice you can get from anyone in the industry can be really valuable. I enjoy watching my friends films and meeting other filmmakers and asking them about their experiences. Filmmakers always have fun stories from set.

Trailer Review: Alice Through The Looking Glass

download

Starring: Johnny Depp, Sacha Baron Cohen, Anne HathawayHelena Bonham CarterAlan RickmanMia Wasikowska

Director: James Bobin, Writer: Linda Woolverton, Producer: Tim Burton, Music: Danny Elfman

Following on from the huge success of Alice in Wonderland, Tim Burton returns us to the world of Alice and her friends. This trailer offers us a sneak peek at what has happened to Wonderland following the events of the last film. It appears that the land down the rabbit hole is in trouble and the Mad Hatter desperately needs Alice’s help.

Just as Alice in Wonderland was, this film looks to be as visually stunning as the last, yet it presents a darker edge. As you’d expect from Tim Burton, his wild imagining of Lewis Carroll’s fantastical tale takes us through epic landscapes exquisitely imagined through some of the best CGI work that has, arguably, remained unmatched since his last ‘Alice’, blending live action with the cartoon-like, often hallucinogenic, imagery that has become his trademark.

With a stellar cast that brings Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham-Carter back together (lets face it, it wouldn’t really be a Tim Burton film without these two stunning actors together!), this new film also brings new players to the stage. Sascha Baron-Cohen plays Time and looks (from the trailer alone) to bring his unique style to the film. Also, it’s a chance to hear the unmistakable tones of Alan Rickman for perhaps his last role before his untimely death earlier this year.

Lets face it, based on the previous film that Tim Burton produced from the deliciously bonkers source material, who could argue that this is probably going to be one of the most anticipated films of 2016 that ISN’T based on a comic book character………

This is definitely going to a be a firm favourite of anyone who loved the books and the previous film. At the end of the day, who doesn’t love a bit of escapism?? If you haven’t seen Alice in Wonderland, for goodness sake watch it before this comes out. You won’t be disappointed and it appears that this new offering isn’t going to disappoint either, based purely on the trailer alone.

Watch the trailer here:

Alice Through the Looking Glass is released in cinemas UK-wide on 27th May 2016.

Bates Motel SN4 EP3 – ‘Till Death Do You Part’

bates

Quick recap of last weeks episode ‘Goodnight Mother’ SN4-EP2

So last week Norman and Norma each think that the others has committed a terrible deed, meanwhile Dylan thinks about his future with Emma. Remero Romero makes a choice that has a dramatic impact on the Bates family

Till Death Do You Part’ SN4-EP3

Ok so let’s get down to business……. Romero and Norma tie the knot albeit awkwardly, during the ceremony Norma tells the celebrant she can that part we’ve heard it before, I actually laughed out loud, they seal it with a kiss and you can see there is a little spark between them. Norman is at Pineview and struggling to accept his new circumstances. Now that Remero and Norma are married he tells her he has to moves some of his stuff into the Bates home so the marriage looks real.

Emma is getting better with each day, her and Dylan take a walk around the hospital and he tells her he is sick of growing weed and he wants to do something better with his life. While Norman is being shown around Pineview, he spots a woman wearing pearls and he gets a little twinkle in his eyes as if he is reminiscing killing Miss Watson (Keegan Connor Tracy). Dr. Edwards asks Norman if he has ever been in therapy and Norman tells Dr.Edward, he believes that his mother is the problem not him. While having dinner another young man Julian sit with Norman and strikes up a conversation. Definitely foresee trouble ahead if they become friend’s they are both unstable.

As they have drinks, Norma tells Romero this is her 3rd marriage and with a little more alcohol she opens up about parts of her past. Remero tells Norma he was married once before while in the Marines, when they get home he helps a tipsy Norma up to bed and says “goodnight Mrs Remero” Norma quickly replies “I’m keeping my name”. The following morning Norma wakes to find a wedding present of a coffee machine in the kitchen with a note attached saying he called some one to fill the pit. One of the nurses asks Norman if he would like to participate in yoga, he replies that he would rather stick pins in his eyes. One of the men filling in the pit hands Norma an earing – an earing that belonged to Audrey Decody (Emma’s mother).

As Dylan gets to the farm, Gunner (Keenan Tracey) is about to leave for California saying he is quitting. Dylan calls Emma and complains that Gunner had quit, he wanted to fire him as he had prepared himself for it. Romero returns home to find his ex girlfriend there, when she tries to kiss him, he tells her he got married widow Norma Bates. Before she leaves she asks him about Bob Paris, as she hasn’t heard from him since the DEA stormed his house. She is worried she might be in danger, but Remero reassure her she’s safe. Remero returns home to Norma’s with Bob Paris’s money.
Dylan goes home to see his mother and she tells him she married Romero, she believes that Remero doesn’t like her but I beg to differ there is definitely little sparks starting, she is also worried about Norman and leaving him at Pineview, but Dylan reassure’s her she has done the right thing. Norman has another session with Dr. Edwards, and tells him he has blackouts occasionally and can’t he just give him medication for them, he goes on to tell Dr. Edwards that he never wants to upset his mother, because she is the most wonderful person in the world and that he is in Pineview because of her, when Norman is asked why he is so angry at her if he loves her that much, he breaks down and starts ranting before storming out of the room.

Norma arrives at Pineview and convinces Dr. Edwards to let her see Norman, even though it’s against Pineview policy but we all know how persuasive Norma can be when she wants something. Before she see Norman she removes the her rock from her finger, she finally gets to see Norman but he is not happy to see her and tells her as much, he tells her that he will never for give her for putting him in Pineview. A very upset Norma returns home and Romero comforts her, then they kiss and Remero tries to stop her but she tells him it’s what she wants and he carries her upstairs and you can all use your imagination for what would have happened once upstairs. After seeing his mother Norman storms into Dr. Edwards office, but his behavior lands hin into solitary confinement. Norman tells Dr. Edwards that he believes his mother is insane and maybe killing people, a surprised Dr. Edwards tells Norman that such an accusation warrants being reported and investigated to which Norman agrees.

Call me crazy but I think Romero and Norma might just work, I have always thought they an undeniable chemistry, and after this episode you definitely see little sparks between them. Let me know your thoughts on this episode. Check back next week for episode 4, i know i can’t wait! It just keeps getting better and better each episode.

Robin Hood and Henry headed off to find maps of Storybrooke.

As Henry enters Cora’s office, Cruella is there waiting and tells Henry that she wants to go back to the real world and he’s the only one that can help, as he’s the Author and the quill he broke is here in the Underworld.

Once Upon A Time S5 EP 12 – ‘Souls Of The Departed’

ouat

Opens with Emma in her yellow VW with Neil, he’s happy and smiling. You almost think she’s dreaming until they start talking. Neil assures her that’s he’s happy and has no unfinished business, he’s in a better place.

They arrive in the Underworld, which looks exactly like Storybrooke (of course).

Cora appears and is told of Regina’s arrival in the Underworld.

Cora threatens Regina with sending her father into the flames if she and Henry don’t leave immediately.

Let’s NOT forget how King Henry got into Cora’s hands, way back in Season 1 when Regina requested the Mad Hatter to get her to Wonderland to retrieve a box?

Her father was in there. She fed him a resizing mushroom and in return left the Mad Hatter in his place. Hat rules… Number of people entering have to equal number of people leaving.

In the end, Regina prevailed and stood up to Cora, finding a way for her father to meet Henry before he walked towards the light.

Being changed, Regina wonders if others in the Underworld can be saved, but Gold wants no parts of it. Is he selfish? Or afraid of his father?

Hook is in distress, pain and alone. He has no real idea that Emma still loves him and is trying to rescue him.I’m personally hoping for a face to face soon.

Emma and Killian are the Modern Day Snow White and Prince Charming…

It’s very fitting considering those are her parents.

Damien SN1 EP3 – ‘The Deliverer’

damien

Here’s a quick recap from episode 2

Last week when we left Damien he was taken down to a room in Rutledge’s house where everything from his childhood was displayed and at front and center is Damien’s red trike that was used to kill his mother, Damien is starting to put all the pieces together.

Now it’s time for the latest episode!

Detective Shay is starting to piece the puzzle together and believes Damien is a crucial part of the puzzle, as he can be connected to the death of the professor and the taxi accident. Damien and Ann are talking about his mother and he doesn’t understand why he would kill want to kill her but Ann ensures him that he didn’t try to kill his mother. Damien’s starting to remember bits from his childhood that he previously couldn’t remember and he is learning just how well Ann knows him, she has watched and protected him from a far for a very long time.

Ann tells Damien that he will soon realize that he is the Anti-Christ and he is being groomed for a war of biblical proportions, and Ann has been in the background for every step, she is part of a larger collective who are there to protect him as he grows. Kelly’s sister Simone goes to see their prist and shows him Kelly’s notebook he tells Simone that it looks like she was doing a religious story and not to read into it, as she is walking out she see blood pouring from a religious statue, but when she grabs the prist to look there is no trace of the blood, Simone thinks there is a connection between Damien, Kelly and the Devil. Damien consults with his friend Amani about looking into Ann and finding out what she wants from him, Amani thinks it a bad idea and goes on to tell Damien that they were fired from their job and that he has a new job lined up in Kiev Damien tells Amani he is not going.
Damien has a meeting with John Lyons (Scott Wilson) who he knows from when he lived in the White House, he tells Damien that Ann terrifies him, but then we see John and Ann having a conversation, whoever this mysterious religious group is, Ann and John are most definitely in the center of it, making sure Damien stays alive and on the path of evil he is destined for. In the meeting John asks Ann how she could have let a would be assassin to nearly take Damien out, John goes on to tell Ann she to close and that another member of the group will take over guiding Damien and preparing him for the apocalyptic business. Ann is not happy with that idea but for John, Ann is done and no longer on the case, but for her nothing has changed. The man set to take over Ann in guiding Damien, thinks Ann is giving him directions to help keep Damien safe, when in actual she is manipulates him and then pretenders to be pushed by the man in front of the building.

Damien has been doing surveillance on Ann across the street, when he sees Ann fall to the ground and scream for help, he runs to her aid but doesn’t see what really happened. The man ordered to replace Ann runs away in hopes of getting as far away from Ann and Damien as he can, but that plan fails when he fall on the escalator and his tie gets stuck and literally loses his face. Damien how had been chasing the man, stops to save the life of a child that had been knock onto the tracks with a train fast approaching, this is an important moment as it makes us believe that there is in fact still a genuine decent side to our potential Anti-Christ. After the escalator incident John quickly learns that taking Ann off the case wasn’t and option and he now knows where he stands with Ann. Looks like he gets it now, you would be pretty stupid to mess with her again.
Detective Shay is obsessing over these cases when rather unexpectedly, evil forces come into play and the Detective is attacked by one of the watchdogs that we continue to see watching over Damien, the Detective survives the attack by putting a bullet in the dog, if he hadn’t of had his weapon he wouldn’t have survived the attack that’s for sure, you can see he’s concerned and that what he just experienced isn’t in the realm of normalcy. Damien’s head is spinning with information and unanswered questions, He answers a knock at the door and its Ann baring sushi. They continue to talk about the Anti-Christ and Damien is not convinced at what Ann has to say, before she leaves she re carves 666 on her arm before she leaves Damien tells her of his birth mark, and it would be an understatement to say Ann was excited about the birthmark.

An Interview With British Actor Cai O’Leary

cai

How about another interview?  I was happy to get to talk to a multi-talented young man recently.  Cai O’Leary has several appearances in TV series under his belt, including Blodau, Deep Cuts and more, along with several short films like Johnny Oneline and a film he wrote, directed, produced and starred in entitled Man Is Beast, which is a Chinese language film.  Let’s get to know a little more about Cai, shall we?

————————————————————————————————————————————–

1)  How did you get into acting?  Did you always want to be an actor?

I was 19 and had just returned from a gap year in Australia where I was coaching rugby at a school.  I had deferred my place at University in the UK where I was due to start a Law Degree, in order to travel.  When I got back I told my father that I would prefer to pursue my childhood dreams of becoming an actor.  Luckily, my father is an artist so he was over the moon with this decision and I have not looked back since.  I think coming from a small quarrying vilage in North Wales, becoming an actor didn’t even seem like an option that was open to me.  I had never even heard of drama school.  Apart from a run in the local drama club (there was only three of us there) there was zero opportunity.  It was only when I was in Australia and I met some actors out there that I realised I could make a living out of it.

2)  Tell us about your latest project…

My latest project Is another short film, which I wrote.  This time it is a love story between a homeless couple on the streets of London.  It follows the story of ‘Ariel’, a transwoman who is used to the hard knocks given to you as a homeless person.  She finds love and this comes in the shape of ‘Paul’, an Irish man.  It is quite different to Man Is Beast, more poetic and I have tried to dig into how society has a way of placing people.  Actually in saying that, I guess it is quite similar to Man Is Beast.  There is a hierarchy in Society whether you are human or an animal.

Other than this I am currently penning my first feature film.  A Chinese language action Thriller which takes place in China and London.  Much more light hearted and easy to watch!

3)  You wore many hats in Man is Beast:  Actor, Director, Producer and Writer.  Which hat was the hardest to wear, and why?

The producer.  100%.  Mainly because I have no interest whatsoever in becoming a producer.  However, needs must and in the wonderful world of short film you sometimes have to wear more than one hat!  But from now on I am concentrating on my writing and acting only.

4)  If you could be in any existing film playing any character, which would it be?

Jason Bourne.  I love action films and for me the Bourne films are the best.  Obviously Bond is huge as well and has now caught up but for me the earlier Bourne films led the way.

5)  I know that you’re a skilled martial artist.  Could you be the next Chuck Norris?  (On the lighter side – What’s your favorite Chuck Norris joke?  Mine is:  Before he goes to bed every night, the Boogey Man checks under his bed for Chuck Norris.)

Ha, yes.  No I don’t think I am the next Chuck Norris.  I am more of an actor who happens to have a lot of experience in martial arts.

Quotes… oh there are so many… urm, I think I will have to go with ‘Why are there no Chuck Norris lego’s?  Because no one can take Chuck Norris apart.’

chuck norris

6)  If a film was made about you, what would it be called and who would play you?

Oooh, tough question.  I guess because of my single parent upbringing (my father) and where I grew up, It would be something along the lines of Billy Elliott.  There are a lot of similarities there to my upbringing.  Except I got into acting, definitely can’t dance!

7)  What can we expect from you in the rest of 2016?

Hopefully I can get my Chinese feature film into production.  I also have a couple of projects closer to home on the horizon.  And as a writer look out for my short film ‘Ariel’ which is currently running the festival circuit.

8)  Tell us a fun fact about you, something that our readers might not already know about you…

I am trilingual, I speak the worlds three most influential languages.  English, Mandarin Chinese and… Welsh 🙂

9)  And, last but not least, do you have any advice for young, up and coming actors?

I have a lot of advice actually.  But the main thing for me is don’t wait for things to come to you.  Hopefully they will (it does happen)  but most of the time it doesn’t.  Make films, write, hook up with other filmmakers and be creative.  The film festivals are great but very expensive.  Post your work online, create a buzz – you never know who’s watching!
