Shailene Woodley Joins HBO’s ‘Big Little Lies’

To quote Wayne and Garth SCHWING!!! – Skatronixxx
HBO has become synonymous with five star entertainment with a Network that has seen critical acclaimed shows such as The Wire, The Sopranos and, of recent, Game of Thrones pass through their doors. The channel has also produced comedy-dramas like Sex in the City that saw Sarah Jessica Parker reinvent her career on tv after her film roles seemingly dried up.
In recent years the stigma for movie stars coming to tv has decreased with successes like True Detective showing that even Academy award winners like Matthew McConaughey can walk the line between the big and small screen simultaneously. So it comes as no surprise that HBO’s newest acquisition Big Little Lies is taking advantage of the new trend with it’s casting.
Based on Liane Moriarty’s 2014 novel, the Network’s newest drama-comedy will revolve around group of mothers to kindergarten-aged children getting caught up in a murder plot. Oscar winner Nicole Kidman has already been confirmed to star as the main character Jane with past reports also indicated that Hollywood actress Reese Witherspoon is also set to join as one of the main cast.
Rounding off the cast is Shailene Woodley who outed herself as appearing alongside the two Academy award winners when she spoke at the Hindustan Times Leadership Summit in New Delhi over the weekend.
Woodley, who is fast becoming the new darling of Hollywood, has an impressive resume of her own with not only the Oscar winning The Descendants (2011) behind her. But the mega popular tween novel-to-film series Divergent catapulting her into audiences conscious before winning the hearts of millions through her portrayal of sixteen-year-old cancer patient Hazel Grace Lancaster in The Fault In Our Stars (2014). Woodley’s inclusion in the HBO series will not only introduce a new generation of viewers to the network but will also add a trifecta to the impressive cast for one of televisions hotly anticipated new shows.
As of yet no airdate has been announced but Ally McBeal scribe David E. Kelley has been confirmed to adapt the book for HBO audiences.

Tom Holland’s ‘Spider-Man’ WILL Appear In ‘Captain America: Civil War’

Yes Spider-Man you shall goto the ball, oops I mean you can be in this film – Skatronixxx
It has long been speculated since it was revealed earlier this year that the Sony owned property, Spider-Man, would be lent-out to Marvel Studios for an unspecific amount of films. Whether or not the friendly-neighbourhood superhero would appear in the upcoming Captain America: Civil War. When considered that the young crime fighter played a pivotal role in the crossover event in the comics, it seemed kismet that the character should return home to Marvel just in time for an appearance in the film. Although all the right elements alined for this to be possible it wasn’t a guarantee given that a debuting Black Panther (Chadwick Boseman) seemed positioned to fill the Spidey-shaped void.
Our worries seem premature however with Iron Man himself, Robert Downey Jr, confirming to Entertainment Weekly that the web-slinger will indeed make his debut into the MCU when Civil War appears in theatres. ‘[Don] Cheadle and I are just going, ‘Wow, dude, look at this.’ We’re now like the old guard, and our storyline carries real weight just because of our history in the [canon]. But we’re also looking around like, “who thought that Falcon and Black Panther and Ant-Man and now Spider-Man…?’ I mean it’s like wow, this thing is just crazy.” ‘
First no one wants you, now everyone wants you, whose sie will you choose Spidey? – Skatronixxx
Although Spider-Mans absence from the recently released Civil War trailer was felt by fans. The third actor to step into the web-clad tights, Tom Holland. Revealed to SuperHeroHype how his web-head will fit into the cinematic war: ‘I think one of the most interesting things about Peter Parker for us is that he’s the only person in the MCU now that has a secret identity. I think it’s quite interesting to go back to that hiding behind a mask.’
Naturally the British actor remains tight-lipped on specifics surrounding his character but it is interesting that Holland references that Peter Parkers identity is the one of the very few superheroes that remains a secret to the public. This is of particular note given that Peter in the comics reveals his secret identity to the world at Tony Starks behest, in order to gain favour with the public for his pro superhero-registration act that causes a rift between himself and Steve Rogers. This of course has been a talking point amongst fans as to whether Spider-Man will indeed be unmasked in the movie adaptation but this seems unlikely given Holland’s solo Spider-Man film that goes into production some time next year.
In the meantime, Holland shared his experience working alongside Downey and praised the cast involved: “I guess they’re such easy people. Robert [Downey Jr.] did my first screen test. He took me aside and gave me a little advice about the audition.”
Captain America: Civil War opens in theatres across the UK on April 29, 2016 with the US getting it a few days later on May 6.

Moonlight – One Series Wonders

This is a show that like NEW AMSTERDAM (covered in the last post) that was from 2008 in the year I like to call. The year of sadly failed tv shows. I remember watching this show when it aired on British channel Virgin one back in the day. It is yet to my knowledge to be repeated, which is a shame because it was a DAMN good show. I remember getting it on dvd a few years ago and rewatching it and I gotta say it does hold up.
No One Can Replace Harrison Ford Says Indiana Jones Director

At least we won’t see Shia Labeouf step into Harrisons shoes again – Skatronixxx
In a time in Hollywood when the word ‘original’ is a dirty word and the ‘reboot’ rules supreme. Indiana Jones Director Steven Spielberg is adamant that the globe-trotting archaeologist and professor will always be played by the man that made the character an icon, Harrison Ford.
‘I don’t think anyone could replace Harrison as Indy, I don’t think that’s ever going to happen,’ stated Spielberg in an interview with Screen International. ‘It’s certainly not my intention to ever have another actor step into his shoes in the way there have been many actors that have played Spider-Man or Batman.’
This statement further compounds rumours that Ford could indeed return to role, not only given that the actor is keen to do so, but the confirmation back in June from Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy that a fifth Indy film will be coming in 2018. With Spielberg’s close association to Lucasfilm in mind, it seems reasonable to imagine that the director holds some sway over the future of a franchise that he had a hand in starting alongside George Lucas back in 1981
Rounding off his interview, Spielberg further added that there ‘is only going to be one actor playing Indiana Jones and that’s Harrison Ford.’
So Indy Fans, would you like to see Harrison Ford return for a fifth outing? Would a reboot really be such a bad idea? Sound off on Twitter and as always, stick with @mitch_rated only on Skatronixxx.com
Quentin Tarantino Tackles Tv With His New Project

Tarantino, badass on screen, badder ass off screen – Skatronixxx
Legendary auteur Quentin Tarantino is synonymous with quirky-pop-culture additions to the cinematic landscape that has made him a name that will be remembered for all-time. Tv however has proven a tough nut to crack for the writer, director and producer. With a handful of television credits on his resume, including the two-part season 5 finale for CSI (2005), the small screen is certainly virgin territory for Tarantino to conquer.
Speaking with Premiere magazine, Tarantino revealed that he owns ‘the rights to this book [I’ve] wanted to adapt for a while, and the time may have come for me to tackle [it].’ He further elaborated that book in question is Forty Lashes Less One by Elmore Leonard, adding ‘which could be my third western. [I’m] considering [taking the] project to TV, in the form of a mini-series of four or six hours.’
Leonards novel explores racial prejudices in the old west which have dominated many of Tarantino’s works, of recent being Django Unchained (2013) and soon to be released Hateful Eight, but also Jackie Brown (1998) which was also based on Leonard’s novel Rum Punch.
Given the director’s latest conflict with getting Hateful Eight onto the big screen, a change of pace to television may be what Tarantino is looking for. With the project currently in the pre-production stage, it may be some-time before we learn what form Tarantino’s next story will take.

New Amsterdam – One Series Wonders

Who remembers this show?
Many things are making a come back, Ghostbusters, Star Wars and now me. Yes the Skatronixxx blog is making a comeback! Why has it been so long? What have I been up to? Well if you must know I’ve been away helping Indiana Jones on his latest mission to eradicate Shia Lebouf from the franchise. Haha I wish! Actually while the site and your nerdy news has been in the more than capable hands of my awesome co-writer Mitch aka @mitch_rated. I’ve been controlling things like the evil villainous Puppet Master from the Marvel behind the scenes, but less evil of course.
What have I been up to? Well the ever continuing quest to find a female blogger still eludes me, ladies if you write and want be on my site, email me now! I’ve also been reaching out to some of my verified followers to see if they would like some interviews. Some has responded, some have not. The waiting game continues. In an effort to grow the site, I’ve also been trying to secure an advertiser. I’ve reached out to over 200+ people and businesses some big, some small. All we need is one company, just one to take a chance and BOOM skatronixxx.com will be taking over the world wide web like Spiderman shoots webs 😉
I gotta be honest running a site is hard work and it feels like I’ve moved away from the writing that I love and more into a business type position, but I’m not one to lose track of why I set up the site in the first place and with that in mind the SKATRONIXXX BLOG IS BACK!!!!
TO BE CONTINUED …..
Hey you didn’t think I’d end it like that did you? The real question is what to blog about. I asked you my loyal #SkatFamily members in a twitter poll about that you would like to see me blog about and the answer was a landslide victory. But what was it? It was *drum roll* ONE SHOW SERIES WONDERS, CANCELLED WHY?
You may be thinking oooooooooooook, but let me explain I’m not going to write full in depth reviews about every awesome amazing show that was cancelled after one series. Well I am kinda but there’s more to it than that. I’m also going to leave my thoughts on whether the show actually benefited from having just one season or would have flourished had producers stuck with it.
To be honest I did have a list of all the shows covered that I wanted to talk about and I found that as I was writing about them, it would have ended up with the blog being longer than the intro to Game of Thrones. So I’ve decided to do each show as its own separate blog. That way you get more blogs from me too. YAY!
