Steve Carell In Talks To Join Minecraft Movie

minecraft-hero-df1112867f04

Why am I not surprised that there is a Minecraft movie on the way. This game has such a huge fan base that it seems only logical for there to be a movie right?

Honestly I can’t think of a better actor to join this movie than Steve Carell. Known for his roles in Evan all Mighty, The Office, and Crazy Stupid Love, his type of humor and acting style may be perfect for a blockhead role. The film is set to be released in 2019, and will be directed by Rob McElhenney.

The Minecraft franchise is gigantic, with followers from all ages, (my kids and I play this together.) And I am sure that once this movie comes out, there will be quite the line at the ticket offices. To bad its going to be another 2 years before its comes out. ^_^

Arrow SN5 E7 -Vigilante

Welcome back to your weekly recap of our favourite Star City vigilante, the Green Arrow, as he tries to save his city . Today’s episode is Episode 7 of Season 5, titled Vigilante.

– Flashback –

Kovar sits at the head of a long wooden table, Oliver seated on the other end. Blood stains his shirt in spots and he seems disoriented. Kovar introduces Oliver to Galina, his servant, who is actually Taiana’s mother. Kovar launches into a speech about how he has been working with the Bratva all along, how Oliver, an American, could never truly be a Bratva. Oliver doesn’t believe him, holding a knife to Kovar’s throat, trying to escape the house, but he doesn’t make it far. Kovar tells his men not to interfere as he beats Oliver repeatedly, Olie throws in some punches too. Eventually the Bratva show up and Kovar hands Olie over.

– Present –

A new vigilante begins a killing spree in Star City, this time it’s definitely not Prometheus. The vigilante targets criminals leaving their dead bodies outside the police station.

Quentin comes to Thea’s office, handing her his letter of resignation before leaving. She tracks him down later to his apartment, trying to find an explanation. Quentin confides in her about his drunken blackouts, the cut in his arm and the throwing star he discovered, but he believes himself to be set up. Thea drives him to a rehab facility, hoping he gets better, he admits himself.

Meanwhile Team Arrow deals with a bank robbery, but when they arrive one of the robbers has already been shot. The vigilante has already struck and Eric Dunn, the robbers’ leader, escapes. Later on in the day, Adrian intimidates on of the robbers into revealing Dunn’s location. Thankfully Mayor Queen is present, and gets to Dunn’s location before the Vigilante can kill him.

The team decides to pose as bank robbers in order to lure the Vigilante out. Unfortunately the Vigilante scouts the outside of the building out first, finding Artemis and knocking her out. He threatens to kill Curtis unless the Green Arrow show himself. The two of them battle it out, with Oliver managing to tie him up with a rope arrow. Just when Oliver is reaching to unmask Vigilante, a flash-bang goes off blinding everyone, Vigilante escapes.

Thea meets up with Olie, telling him about how Quentin has been framed as Prometheus. They realize Prometheus is framing Quentin because he knows the Green Arrow’s identity.

Evelyn gazes out into the city from a rooftop ledge, behind her Prometheus stands. She turns around and has a lovely chat about Team Arrow suspecting nothing. Looks like we know who’s helping Prometheus set up Quentin and why she, out of all six members of the team, had her mark targeted by Prometheus.

The Flash SN3 E6 – Shade

Welcome back to your weekly recap of our favourite Central City speedster, Barry Allen, as he fights crime and other metahumans. Today’s episode is Episode 6 of Season 3, titled Shade.

Cecil tells Barry that he’s now needed full-time to work on meta human cases, to which Julian doesn’t object. Wally wakes from yet another dream, in which he’s the Kid Flash, saving lives in Flashpoint. He finally talks to Joe, Iris and Barry about it, but Barry warns him about what happened to Wally during his Flashpoint life. Wally takes their concern as special treatment to Barry and distrust towards himself, storming out of the house.

A metahuman that appears out of shadow begins terrorising the city, murdering a stockbroker in the evening. H.R. nicknames the meta “Shade” and suggests that his powers might manifest in the same way in which Cisco’s do: vibrating on a different sequence. Cisco uses his tech-savvy skills to change images of Shade’s shadow form into human form.

Caitlin steals Cisco’s meta-dampening handcuffs, hoping they’ll prevent her from becoming Killer Frost. Cisco accuses H.R. later of going through his stuff and stealing his power cuffs, but H.R. defends himself saying, “I haven’t met anyone yet, even why I do meet them it’s gonna take a while  to get to the cuff stage.” (I’m crying of laughter here.) Later on, when Cisco and Caitlin are alone she reveals to him that she stole his cuffs because she’s got powers, and she needs Cisco to “vibe” her to know if she becomes Killer Frost. Cisco vibes her and sees himself fighting her, all out Vibe v. Killer Frost.

Alchemy begins summoning Wally to him in front of Joe, who brings him to S.T.A.R. Labs to get looked at. H.R. suggests locking Wally up for the time being, so Alchemy can’t get to him. Wally agrees, staying with Iris and Barry while the rest of the team go out for a movie night. Just as the movie starts, Shade strikes again, causing Barry and the rest of the team to go Team Flash mode, cuffing him with the power dampening cuffs. Meanwhile back at S.T.A.R. Labs, Alchemy tries summoning Wally again, much to Iris’ horror. He begs and begs Iris to open his cell, which she finally does, but he pushes her aside telling her to stay out of his way. She refuses and Wally swings at her, but she dodges and knocks him unconscious.

The team regroup at the lab and Cisco discloses that Caitlin is a meta, to which Caitlin feels betrayed and storms off. Barry finds her later and apologises, confessing that her powers likely came from him creating Flashpoint. Wally comes up with a plan, or rather invites himself to Alchemy’s lair. He leads the Flash, Joe and a S.W.A.T. team to Alchemy’s abandoned subway building, but Alchemy is not alone.

A fight ensues and things are looking up for Team Flash, but then another speedster appears. Running so fast we only see a blur of white light, it turns out no one else but Barry can see him. The speedster takes out the entire S.W.A.T. team, leaving Barry and the speedster to a showdown of speed. With Barry and Joe distracted, Wally gets seduced but the power of the dark side. I mean by Alchemy saying, “Wallace, Wallace touch my rock,” so he picks up Alchemy’s energy crystal, which encases Wally in a cocoon, similar to the other metas Alchemy turned. Joe watches with horror as the invisible speedster picks up Barry, pinning him high against a wall. “Who are you?” The Flash asks. “Savitar, the God of Speed,” it answers. Savitar’s blade shines as he prepares to stab Barry.

Next week on The Flash

Is it just me or does Savitar look like a mix between a Transformer and Sauron from LOTR?  What did you think of Shade? As for next week’s episode —poor Caitlin, I hope she doesn’t end up imprisoned. Until next time, “Run Barry, run!”

Nerdy Craft Corner with Brenda: TARDIS night light

Are you afraid of the dark? Do you love Doctor Who? Ya, me to. So here is the opportunity to have the Doctor help you with your nighttime fear, lets build a TARDIS nightlight.

Below is a video done by a man named James Chats, who recently (according to the video that was published just over a year ago) found a new love in the ways of the Doctor. This video is pretty descriptive and easy to follow for the most part. There is some rescaling of the measurements should you go the same route as him and find an exact blue print of a life sized TARDIS (which you can then try to build at another time).

The things you will need are:

Exacto knife

Hot glue

Elmers regular glue

Tardis blue print with actual dimensions

Foam board

light of your choice

Ruler and protractor

Sharpie

Blue and white paint

Tin foil

Plastic you can cut easily

Extra paper (colored would be nice)

And some patience

Stan Against Evil: S1 Ep2 “Know, Know, Know Your Goat”

Back in Ep1 of Stan Against Evil, we met the TV series’ main characters.

  • Stan, the forcefully retired, ornery ex-Sheriff of Willard’s Mill
  • Denise, his weird and high-pitched daughter who still lives at home with him
  • Sheriff Evie Barret, the newly appointed Sheriff of Willard’s Mill

In the first episode, we find out that all of the former sheriffs of Willard’s Mill have been  murdered due to a curse dating back to the Salem Witch Trials. Stan is the only sheriff who was never killed. He also thought the whole time it was he who was keeping the town safe. After his wife passes away, he finds out that things weren’t as he thought…

“Know, Know, Know Your Goat”

Willard’s Mill, 1950’s

The episode opens with a flashback. An old farmer is reading the paper when he suddenly sees himself waving at…himself. Of course, he freaks. When he looks again, he’s relieved to see it’s just a goat, but it’s acting very strange. VERY strange…

goats

Today

Sheriff Barret is getting into her normal routine of patrolling the city. One morning she comes across a DoomsDay-er (you know, those people who stand on the corners screaming about the Apocalypse and End of Days). Barret tells him to move along. He’s offended and tells her Stan never made him stop.

As he’s leaving, Barret notices that he’s wearing a necklace with a crossed pitchfork and spade. It’s the same thing she saw at Stan’s house. Apparently, Stan’s wife gave the bum the necklace.

Intrigued, Barret heads over to Stan’s house. Stan has just gotten through complaining about the crappy quality of TV shows today when Barrett arrives. She asks about the Bum/Crazy DoomsDay-er. Stan knows him well.

As they talk, Barret spots the pitchfork and spade hanging in Stan’s kitchen. She asks Denise about them and finds out they had something to do with Denise’s Mom and her witchcraft.

When Denise and Stan aren’t looking, Sheriff Barret grabs them and leaves.

Meanwhile, Denise, who’s getting weirder and harder to figure out, decides to go blueberry picking in the forest by herself. As she’s talking and singing to herself in her nasal, Betty Boop voice she comes across the cute little goat from the beginning of the episode.

d-nice

Naturally, because she’s wacko, she befriends it and decides to take it home.

While that’s going on, Sheriff Barret decides to find the DoomsDay-er to find out more about what the crossed pitchfork and spade means.

Deputy Drinkwater tells her the guys name is Raymond Taft and no one takes him seriously. Barret heads to Taft’s shack. When she questions him about the pitchfork and spade, he freaks out but tells her that Stan’s wife was the one who told him all about the curse, the witches, and the demon in Willard’s Mill. That’s what he’s screaming about every day, but no one cares to listen.

He also tells Barret the goat is really the demon Baphomet (the horned goat thingy that we associate with devil worshipers. See the photo). We find out that Baphomet is a demon trickster and that he’s come to fulfill the curse and kill Stan and Sheriff Barret.

dual-stan-baphomet

The Sheriff is about to leave to warn Stan when Raymond Taft knocks her out, grabs the pitchfork and spade, and then steals her car. When she comes to, she realizes what’s happened and has to commandeer a citizen’s truck. Naturally, he complains that Stan never did that.

Over at Stan’s house, Denise has just arrived with her new friend (and her bucket of blueberries). When Stan goes to the door to meet the goat, he annoyed to find that it’s actually Baphomet who’s standing there.

Stan goes into demon fighting survival mode.

But the demon uses his powers to get into the house and knock Stan out. Denise revives him a few short minutes later and as Stan assesses the situation they find that it’s dark outside, even though it’s only 4:00 PM.

In Stan’s typical ornery, old man logic he reasons that Baphomet has trapped them inside the house and that he’s going to have to fight the demon off like it’s the ending of Jaws.

He comes up with a clever way to make a bomb and goes outside to fight Baphomet. Just like in Jaws, Stan throws the bomb and tries to blow it up when it sticks, but the bomb doesn’t work.

As he desperately (comically) fights Baphomet off, Raymond Taft shows up with the pitchfork and spade. Barret is close behind.

att

While they fight over who’s going to get to be the main character from Jaws (like we did when we were re-enacting scenes from Star Wars when we were kids) Barret tries to blow the bomb up again. It still doesn’t work.

Just as it looks really bad for Stan, crazy/weird/high-pitched Denise comes out of nowhere and stabs Baphomet with the wooden pitchfork and spade. Finally, on the third attempt, we get the blood and guts explosion we’ve been waiting for since the first Jaws reference.

jaws_sharksplosion-crop-original-original

Later, as Stan is hanging the pitchfork and spade back in his kitchen, they realize they’ve forgotten about something or someone…

Once Upon a Time SN6 E8 – I’ll Be Your Mirror

ouat-mirror

There were a lot of things to love about this episode… David and Snow coping with their curse by leaving notes, cooking breakfast, and leaving videos on each others phones… Henry being the hero this time… but most of all the touching tribute given to Robin Williams’ Genie.

Sorry, I’m getting a little bit ahead of myself.  Belle talked Aladdin into stealing the wizard’s wand from Rumple so that Zelena can open a portal to send Belle back to the Enchanted Forest to keep her and the baby safe from Rumple.  Am I the only one that’s surprised that Belle and Zelena are teaming up on this one?  I’m happy that we’re still getting to see glimpses of Aladdin and Jasmine, but I’m hoping that there’s a bigger story line involving them down the road somewhere… ya know, with Jafar and Agrabah.  Anyway, while in Gold’s store, Aladdin can’t resist also taking the Genie’s lamp.  When he shows the lamp to Jasmine afterwards, she asks if Genie is inside.  Aladdin says that no, his old friend is “free now” and moved on to “another world”.  Jasmine and Aladdin agree that there was no one quite like Genie.  I had tears stinging my eyes.  It was a very touching tribute to the man and the character.  Because, no… we’ll never have another Robin Williams.  He was one of a kind.

While coping with the curse, Snow realizes that The Evil Queen has been watching her and David through the mirror.  That gives Regina the idea to trap EQ in a mirror.  Regina and Emma use Henry as bait to get EQ in the mirror, but end up getting sucked into it themselves.  It takes a bit for Hook and Henry to realize that it’s EQ pretending to be Regina and that Emma didn’t really go in search of The Dragon to try and break the curse on her parents.  OH YEAH!  I almost forgot ….. WE GOT THE DRAGON AGAIN!  He was an awesome sight… even if EQ has his heart and therefore can control him.  EQ forces The Dragon to try and kill Regina and Emma, but Henry saves the day.

I loved the scene when Henry has just finished getting a pep talk from EQ pretending to be Regina at the mirror in Granny’s, and he walks away to meet Violet.  You think he bought that crap that EQ was selling, then he bravely coaches Violet into coming up with a reason for them to leave.  Henry is growing up to be quite the heroic and ingenious young man….but then he is The Savior’s son.

Henry wasn’t the only one to figure out that EQ wasn’t really Regina.  Hook confronted her and asked what she’d done with Emma and Regina…. let’s just say that didn’t end well for Captain Guyliner.  But, I’m sure that he’ll be fine when the show returns on the 27th.  Well, at least he better be or I’ll pull out my supply of torches and pitchforks.  (But he is fine, because he’s in the scenes for the next episode *smirk*)

Now, as I said, the show is taking a week off, and will return on the 27th… that’s when we get to see just how evil Rumple can get.  I can’t wait.  Here, have a look….

Teen Wolf is Back! Season 6 Episode 1: Memory Lost

teenwolfgif

Teen Wolf returned with its sixth and final season Tuesday night with the thrilling episode Memory Lost.  It starts off with a bang as Liam and Hayden encounter Alex, a little boy whose parents have mysteriously disappeared.  The team investigates the incident and Stiles and Lydia discover that the Wild Hunt has come to Beacon Hills.  This is a completely new threat as these horsemen are not out for blood; they’re searching for souls to steal away.  Once someone is in the sights of the Wild Hunt, every memory the world has of them is slowly stripped away, until they no longer exist.

The Wild Hunt has its eyes set on Stiles.

[FROM HERE ON OUT THERE WILL BE SPOILERS! CONTINUE AT YOUR OWN RISK]

From the trailers released months ago, we knew this was coming but we didn’t know it was coming this soon.  Stiles is seen by the Wild Hunt pretty early on in the episode, and by the end he is taken after a heart wrenching scene with Lydia.  That last line… “Remember I love you.”  As a hardcore Stydia shipper, I was fighting back the tears. Everyone has forgotten him.  Remember that heart wrenching scene from the trailer with his father?  Yeah didn’t expect that in the first episode!  A lot goes down in this first episode and we’re all left wondering what the rest of the season will have in store.  As the final season, I’m sure it will be intense!

Check out the sneak peek of what this season has in store! [hint: There seems to be a lot of blood and gore.  And who is the new hottie teacher guy?!]

Different Comic Con worlds

Now, being that I am just recovering from the whirl wind that is a Comic Con weekend, I thought it would be nice to write about the different types of comic cons from small ones, like that of my home town, to the bigger ones like Seattle or San Diego Con.

I figure I may start in order, from smallest to largest… I know I have not been to the bigger ones and do not travel outside much from the near by states, but I am guessing that the three I will compare will pretty much sum up Con’s around the world.

Small but satisfying:

eucon

This weekend was the Eucon, which is what we call the Eugene Comic Con here in Oregon. This baby here is small of course, and actually fairly new. Only a couple years old to be exact, debuting in November of 2015. The merchandise was great and the celebs were awesome nonetheless. (Last year we got Winston aka Ernie Hudson from the ghost busters and Bobby aka Jim Beaver from Supernatural!) The wonderful part is that its only 30$ for a weekend pass!! Yes dirt-cheap compared to others for sure. But the prices of the merchandise inside are still wallet robbery, so that’s where the rest of your bank account goes. The venue is smaller so it does not take long before you have seen everything and pretty much can be done in one day, but the guests don’t all come in one day so if you want them, you need to make it a weekend pass. This last Con had Friday and Saturday with four celebs, and Sunday was the only day you could see the fifth one. (David Anders, which I have pictures with!!) And the panels only get one room, which is a good thing I think, this way you don’t have the agony of trying to decide which panels to choose from, only one panel at a time. (YAY)

The Middle Class:

wizardworld

This part refers to those bigger but not quite SDCC size Con’s like the ones here in Portland, known as a Wizard World Comic Con. These are the ones you are most likely to see JDF (Jason David Frank) at. Bigger and better on the inside, more merchandise and more panels, bigger Celebs (Last year we had Matt Smith, Alex Kingston, and Arthur Darvill!!) and soooo much more to see. For one, there is more clothing merchandise, where as the Eucon, they had maybe two booths that had shirts, and only unisex shirts for that matter. The Wizard World con has a HUGE booth that not only supplies shirts, but sweaters, baby onsies, and so on. The artistry/comic book designers have a whole half of the convention unlike Eucon, which gave them a third of it, and there are lots of food carts plus a few alcohol additives should this be desired. They have interactive panels where you can either win stuff or make crafts, which are super fun, and dance parties at night. I completely loooove going to wizard world, and never miss it if possible. I plan on going again this February for sure.

THE BIG DADDIES:

emeraldcitysdcc

Ok this is the dream Cons, the one you sell your soul for. The ones where more-popular names, who cost you about $500+ bucks to meet, subside…. This is the Seattle Emerald City Con or the SDCC… now before I go on, I get it that the SDCC is by far bigger than Emerald City, but Seattle is the one that is pretty close to awesomeness that is SDCC.   This kind takes a whole weekend or even a week to get everything done. More merchandise and more to take part of, the Celebs have you breathless (this year we have Carrie Fisher, voices of the Animaniacs, Robert England aka Fred Crueger himself, and many, many more) and are the ones where they announce new up coming TV, movies, or comics books. Your bank account better have more than $1000 dollars extra to spend because chances are, you will be throwing out that kind of doe while here. And be sure to take your anti-anxiety medications because honey, the overload is great. Now I personally get the biggest tickle-thrill when going to Wizard World, so I can’t imagine how I will be when I get to finally attend the Emerald City Con or even better yet, the SDCC… I am sure I will faint at the entrance once arriving,,, yup I will …

So there you have it,, the different sizes of cons out there. Now I know there are many different types of Cons, but this is just a rough idea of what to expect in the small to large cons out there. ^_^

beautyplus_20160925102305_fast

(extra note, Carrie Fisher will be at Wizard World too this year, EEEEEEEEEEEK!!)
