90 second recap of all Harry Potter movies done out of Legos

The Harry Potter world fan base is almost like a cult following, people all over, and of different ages, love this fantastic family movie. Some love this so much they have decided to bring us a recap of all the films in a 90 second Lego short film.

Directed, written and animated by Kevin Ulrich, this wonderfully done piece can be found on Youtube and contains all the best moments of Harry Potter with the twist of lego humor. Starting from the beginning when Hagard tells Harry he is a wizard and blowing the mean family away, to when Harry’s son is leaving for Hogwarts and asks dad, what if he is a slitherine, then Harry responds with “well son, then they will make a screen play out of it.”

I hope you all enjoy this short film as much as I did. Let me know if you think they captured the essence of the Harry Potter films. ^_^

SN02-EP08 “Trip To Stabby Town”

Chloe (Lauren German), Lucifer (Tom Ellis) and Dan (Kevin Alejandro) get the call and attend the case of a female victim who has been brutally stabbed to death in broad daylight, it looks to be a crime of passion and further digging reveals the she was a member of a yoga group that borders on being cult. A witness comes forward and has managed to capture on his phone, the murder in progress and instantly
Lucifer recognises the murder weapon, it’s Azrael’s (the Angel of Death) dagger. Lucifer takes Amenadiel ( D.B. Woodside) and Maze (Lesley-Anne Brandt) to Uriel’s grave in the middle of nowhere and the grave has been dug up, however, Uriel is still in there, but Azrael’s dagger is not. It’s not looking good for humanity.

lucifer-season-2-episode-8-4-0488

Lucifer asks Ella (Aimee Garcia) for help on his own case, finding out who stole Azrael’s dagger from Uriel’s grave. Ella’s forensics leads have led Lucifer straight to Charlotte’s (Tricia Helfer) law firm, Lucifer confronts Mama dearest and she reveals she release the dagger into the world to “get her husband’s (God) attention”, and the only way to do that it to create carnage among his toys, never cross a woman scorned, the bitches be crazy! It seems Chloe is getting a little jealous, as Lucifer and Ella are spending a lot of time together on Lucifer’s case on the side. Chloe’s case crosses over with the first victim’s case when they find numerous members of the same yoga group stabbed to death, with Azrael’s dagger still embedded in one of the victim’s.

lucifer-2x08-ella-3

Dan takes hold of the dagger and it’s bewitched him with anger, he threatens Lucifer for ruining his marriage, career and life. Lucifer used his powers to convinces Dan not to do what the dagger wants,  Dan surprises Lucifer as he fight’s against the daggers powers, needless to say, Lucifer was a little impressed with Douche’s inner strength. In a conversation with Amenadiel and Charlotte, Amenadiel says he wants things back in their proper place with Lucifer in hell and mum in heaven, even more so now giving what has happened with Azrael’s dagger, but Charlotte says she wants her entire family back in heaven. Charlotte is up to no good, you can see it in her eyes.

Lucifer says that he despised living in hell , but the thought of living in heaven is even worse. The only place he feels understood and respected is here on Earth. Lucifer resumes his sessions with Dr Martin (Rachael Harris), after the shock of seeing Lucifer’s true face and some trivial questions such as, how Lucifer punished Hitler and her uncle, Dr Martin begins to realise that Lucifer is just as screwed up as anyone of her therapy patients; a confused individual from a dysfunctional family.

Last Man on Earth S3 E6 ‘The Open-Ended Nature of Unwitnessed Deaths’

Old Tandy wants to be friends with Lewis and alters his apology song  because Lewis misses his partner. It turns out his partner might have been able to charter a boat and could be alive but it seems unlikely as that was three years ago.

Tandy tries to get Lewis to go with him to Seattle to see if Lewis is there. Lewis is not going to go so Tandy tases him. I honestly think its odd that so many shows nowadays use Tasers at one point in time. They head out and Tandy goes on to say he looks like Lewis’ dead partner.

Carol talks Gail into being a grandmother of sorts to her future kid. They finally arrive at Lewis’ former house and Tandy forces him to write a note to Mark. It is actually a beautiful scene watching him walk through his old house. Tandy ruins the moment and Lewis pushes him out of the house in disgust.

Carol ever the extreme woman want Gail to adopt her so she can truly be the grandmother. I really enjoy how far she goes for things she loves.

Tandy and Lewis do eat together after Lewis calms down. Tandy tries to talk Lewis into writing a note by telling him a brief story about his own past.

Melissa tries to engage in sexual intercourse with Todd through a Shawshank roleplay. Todd rebuffs her because she has clearly lost it. In Shawshank style she crawls through a hole in the wall.

Gail goes to apologize but Carol acts like a teenager who is upset with her. Gail tells Carol that she once had a son and he died which is why she won’t adopt her.

Tandy and Lewis are driving back and Lewis sings with Tandy. Tandy has given Lewis hope and it looks like these two will be friends. Tandy soon decides they have one more destination.

Carol apologizes to Gail and tells her that just misses her own mother. Carol tells Gail that she loves her like a mother and Gail loves her to, soon agreeing to adopt her.

Tandy drives back to his old family house where his brother went to die. He can’t bring himself to open the door and leaves a note. He finds his old sports ball friends and brings one along.

This episode was certainly as humorous as it was poignant and that is definitely a good thing.  I really enjoy that this show can dance the line between comedy and drama at points. Excited for the next episode “Mama’s Hideaway” where it looks like our weird group become more of a family than ever before.

The Walking Dead SN7 EP04 -‘Service’

Negan again proved just who’s in charge during a tense and unsettling episode.

the-walking-dead-episode-704-rosita-serratos-935

If there were any qualms about the status-quo of the show going forward, I have a feeling this episode will have allayed them. This was a solid episode of The Walking Dead, however it felt very similar to the season premiere. Essentially it was the same episode. Luckily no one died, although someone sure came close, but the whole purpose of the episode was about crushing the hopes of all the Alexandrians that didn’t witness the brutal murder of Glenn and Abraham. It was about reaffirming Negan’s status as top dog, both to audiences and the characters. As a result, the episode played out much like the season premiere, only with less chunks of head flying all over the place. It was certainly tense, and I think we ultimately needed another episode like this to solidify how broken the group is, but hopefully we can now move on from episodes that are all about emotionally crushing us.

Because the group truly is broken, and we see a lot of that this episode. Some want to fight Negan whilst others, most notably Rick, are choosing to obey. Rick is likely just biding his time until he has a decent plan, but the group is quickly turning against him. It was interesting to see all the different characters at play, dealing with the situation in their own way. Whilst characters like Michonne and Rosita were drumming up ways to get a hold of more weapons, others such as Father Gabriel were fighting Negan in their own, subtler way. So while everyone is begrudgingly following Rick’s lead, he still appears to be the only one ready to conform to Negan, and as we find out it’s because he has the most to lose.

Rosita, Spencer, they’ve lost everything now so wouldn’t have anything to lose from fighting Negan, whereas Rick has his family to think about. To fight Negan is to risk losing Carl and Judith, and after coming all this way, accepting Judith as his own even though he knows she isn’t, he’s not about to do that. Still, Rick isn’t about to be best buds with Negan. There were small moments throughout the episode where his hand tightened around Lucille, clearly willing to give Negan a taste of his own medicine. Alas, nothing came of it, but it’s encouraging to know that there is a spark of the old Rick left.

The majority of this episode really revolved round one surprising character, Olivia. I’ve always felt that the Alexandrians deserved more screentime. Even Aaron, who’s the most prominent character from Alexandria, hasn’t been given his due. It’s hard with so many characters, but it’s always a good time when we get to learn some more about a person. Unfortunately for Olivia, seeing her some more meant threatening to kill her off, which is really par for the course on The Walking Dead. This tied into a huge deviation from the comics as well. In the episode, Negan and the Saviours take all the group’s guns. This was something that never happened in the comics and could end up being a game changer. We know the Hilltop has nothing like that, so it looks like The Kingdom will be the group’s saving grace in more ways than one.

There was some interesting insight into Negan through how he handled the missing gun situation. He made a point of saying he doesn’t like to kill women, and was willing to give the group time to fix what turned out to be Spencer’s mistake. He kept saying he was a reasonable guy, and given how much of a loose cannon he’s been up until now, it was a nice change of pace. In the end though Negan was his usual cruel, vulgar self, but little does he know he’s likely sown the seeds of his own destruction. Taunting Rosita, burning the mattresses, pissing off Michonne. Every move he makes causes the entire group to hate him that much more, I just wonder how much time there will be before the tension inevitably boils over.

Of course in an episode as tense as this one there was plenty to see, so other notable highlights include:

  • Father Gabriel was just the best in this episode. His whole first scene with Negan was just hilarious, and it was great to see him imitating Carol’s sweet and innocent act so as to not appear a threat. His quick thinking in regards to Maggie was a stroke of brilliance, and points to an even better more cunning Gabriel to come. He’s already miles better than his comic book counterpart, and is a character I hope to see more of.

  • Unfortunately, whilst Father Gabriel was off being awesome, Spencer was doing the exact opposite. As Rick said, he’s weak, and he’s one of the few characters remaining who is still only alive because of the walls. Yes he can handle Walkers, and he’s somewhat dealt with a human threat before, but he’s not really built for this world. It’s likely that other characters feel the same way he does about Rick right now, but he doesn’t really appreciate everything Rick has done for them, and likely never will.

  • Looks like Eugene’s gonna start up his bullet manufacturing business for a very angry Rosita. I love that we’re getting more of her character, but she was really hard done to this episode. Ever since the incident on the rail tracks, Dwight seems to be really obsessed with her and Daryl. I understand about Daryl since the two have a bit more history, but the way Dwight is with Rosita is just infuriating. In any case it looks like she’ll have bullets soon, to put in the only gun the group has left.

  • Rick certainly gave a great speech to the residents of Alexandria. Just a shame it was to convince them to conform to a psychopath whilst said psychopath was threatening to bash in the head of one of their friends. Tough times in Alexandria.

  • Carl’s big moment this episode was merged from two equally big moments from the comics, and unfortunately much of the effect was lost in the adaptation. It was a much more impressive moment when the usually quiet Denise threatened the Saviours, but of course that couldn’t happen here. Furthermore, Carl’s lines are taken straight from a different part of the comics, during which he was much younger than he is on the show. Seeing a tiny 10-11-year-old Carl threaten Negan directly was a much more impactful event than old TV Carl doing so.

The 4th episode of The Walking Dead Season 7 offered much of the same as we saw in the premiere. The episode was all about further destroying the group, with the only difference from the premiere being that he was crushing a whole lot more people, oh and yeah nobody died. Whilst I did feel it was necessary to have one more episode like this to really prove what a horrible place the group is in now, it is now time to move on. As charming as Negan is, it’s not enough to disguise the fact that the character is becoming increasingly one note, so either he should be given some time off for a few episodes, or we need to see a different side to him. Now that The Walking Dead has well and truly drained us emotionally it’s time to move on, but with an episode focused on a likely distraught Maggie and Sasha coming next week, we might have to wait just a bit longer.

Gotham S3 E9 Mad City: The Executioner

https://i1.wp.com/www.spoilersguide.com/media/cache/809x0/44/ff/5b882e30afe6e74d670157858a98.jpeg

Barnes has officially lost it and pushed out a man, albeit a twisted man through a wall. Gordon is sure that Barnes did it because he was actually able to talk to the man who was pushed through the wall. Bullock doesn’t believe this could happen because he respects Barnes to deeply. I mean it makes sense he really has been so great as a captain.

Barnes is out and everyone just thinks he is tired but he is actually in an old boathouse with three men in nooses.Barnes is judge, jury, and executioner for these criminals as kicks the stools away. He truly has lost it, hasn’t he?

Ivy is at a sleazy rich man’s house, and the man wants something from her. Using her plant power she gets into his vault and then promptly knocks him out. He wakes up suddenly and slams her against a pole but she kicks him and runs.

Ed and Penguin are having breakfast and Ed is distraught because his girlfriend hasn’t called. Penguin the sneaky bastard just had her killed and he is quite proud of himself. I really hate that he did this, it is just too much. Of course seeing Isabella dressed as Kristen Kringle dead is a shock to Ed’s system. Penguin is able to hug him but it clearly is only meaningful to him.

Ivy finally tells who she is to Selina who is of course shocked. Gordon decides to do a little detective work on Barnes as he comes into his office. Barnes has crafted quite the lie to hide his crime and Gordon is clearly on edge about it. The two have a discussion in the car and Barnes is disappointed that Jim didn’t do his job fully. Barnes lies about his time with the doctor from the previous episode. He begins to show his new self and how disgusting he really thinks the city is. I have to say this mad Barnes is far more interesting than the straight laced one.

Cat has asked Bruce to come over to see the brand new Ivy. Ivy tells Cat about her new lifestyle and how she is in trouble. Bruce attempts to compliment her but the ladies both look at him in disgust. Suddenly someone is there and not for a conversation.

Gordon and Barnes go into the warehouse to take in the criminal Barnes was placing the blame for his crime on. He suddenly changes and shoots him before aiming his gun at Gordon. Have to wonder what is going to happen next and how Gordon will react.

Bruce swiftly buys Ivy’s prize and has her agree to returning it. I really thought that this was a great scene showing off that even though Ivy looked older she was still young.

Penguin is having a picture of himself painted but he is troubled by Ed’s sadness over Isabella. Ed knows he has to move on and goes off to where she died, I hope he finds out Penguin did it. Really such a terrible and cowardly move on Penguin’s part.

Gordon and Barnes are both on opposite sides of what Justice is. Infected with Alice Tetch’s blood has really unlocked what Barnes calls his true self. Barnes wants Gordon to join him in his pursuit of justice and Gordon declines.

Ed stands on the train tracks and places flowers on them after poignant and tender words for Isabella. He talks to a homeless man and finds out that Isabella screamed before the accident.

Bruce, Cat and Ivy go to return the necklace but find the man is dead. Ivy finds out Bruce and Cat are an item. Of course Cat denies it and Bruce says its true. Ah young love, how odd can you be?

The GCPD is looking for Gordon who is running away from a murderous Barnes. Bullocks enlists Lee as a medical examiner in aiding Jim. Barnes chases Gordon into another abandoned building and aims his gun at him once more.

Ed goes to find what happened to Isabella’s car and finds the brake lines were cut and he was the first to figure it out. Cue up Penguin’s theme as he heads off to tell his good buddy what happened.

Barnes is going to kill Gordon and soon the Bullock arrives with the cops. An all out brawl ensues between the two but luckily Gordon finds a gun. Barnes wants Gordon to stand down but Gordon won’t do it. Luckily Gordon shoots Barnes and incapacitates him.

Bruce and the ladies head back to his mansion and Bruce is upset with Cat. The men who tried to hunt Ivy find some hints about who she was with. Lee and Gordon talk about what happened and Gordon thanks her for her help.

Ed heads back to Penguin’s manor wanting to talk to him. Penguin unveils his painting and has included Ed in it. Ed tells him that someone murdered her by cutting the lines. His first thought is that Butch was the one who did it which lets Penguin catch his breath.

Gordon and Bullock stand before Barnes’ former office. Gordon looks in as if knowing he will sit there one day. I hope that Gordon does become commissioner but I think he can wait a little longer, he doesn’t have his mustache yet! In Arkham Barnes is trapped screaming Guilty. I have to say I am unsure if he will stay  there but for now I really enjoyed his arc. At first he bothered me but this season he became one of the best characters.

The next episode of Gotham looks even more insane as many different arcs hit high points. The episode called Time Bomb certainly looks explosive!

The Vampire Diaries SN8 E4 – An Eternity of Misery

tvd-tyler

I’ve been putting off writing this review for days.  Mostly, because I’m still pissed off.  I was so hoping that when Matt went to find Tyler where Damon said he left him that he’d find Tyler still alive and savable… Boy, was I disappointed!  And, well… pissed.  That’s why I used the photo above that was actually from last week’s episode… because I don’t want to remember Tyler dead in the trunk of a green Mustang.  I want to remember him looking alive and well … and also… HOT!  I absolutely commented to Lucy that I guess appearing as a dead body in a trunk is worth a “guest appearance by” credit in the opening.

And, I hope no one has forgotten that it was Tyler … and Tyler alone who knew where Elena’s casket was.  This could be a problem.  And, you know I mean that in the way that Everest is a hill.

Ok… so back to talking about this episode.  It’s title comes from the series premiere when Damon told Stefan, “I promised you an eternity of misery, so I’m just keeping my word.”  He’s certainly living up to that right now, isn’t he?

Joel Gretsch‘s appearance as Matt’s long lost father surprised me.  I loved him in Witches of East End!  And, did you know that he’s real life married to Captain Kirk’s real life daughter?  Sorry.  Had to geek a little there.

So in this episode we found out that Sybil has a sister.  And, surprise of all surprises, Sybil is the GOOD sister.  I know right!  That one got me too!  Up to this point, I’ve been saying that something wasn’t quite right with that intern, Georgie.  So, watching this episode I was totally thinking that Georgie was the “bad” sister…. then she said, “I’m sorry,” when locking Ric in the vault.  That’s when I said, “holy crap monkeys!  It’s Selene!”  All it took was a little apology… and that’s when I realized that Sybil had already told us.  When Ric was talking to Selene on the phone, and Sybil said, “Selene, that sounds perfectly sireny”.. or some such sh!t, I can’t remember the quote exactly, so roll with me on this one.

I’m really enjoying this bad Damon.  I’m fully aware that it makes me a terrible person when I laugh at him setting a man on fire while telling him, “I was rooting for you, I really was.”  Or even, when he tells Sheriff Dumb@ss’s dad that if he murdered his employee why doesn’t Daddy think Damon’ll kill him.  But, killing Tyler was just too much!  That’s where I drew the line.

I’m holding out hope that we see Tyler again.  Perhaps, he’s in Cade’s World and will rescue Georgie from her fate there.  Because even though it was like time was reversed and his “curse” was undone…. there was magic at work… or well… not at work … that caused the undoing of said curse.  That doesn’t mean that he hasn’t been a very bad doggy, so he would for sure end up in Cade’s World (you should totally be saying that in your head like Wayne’s World from the movies… and following it up with Party on, Garth!  I am).

Now, I’m totally hoping that you’ve already watched the episode and completely understand what I’m talking about.  Because A) I don’t wanna have to explain it all to you (cause the jokes aren’t funny that way) and B) I didn’t wanna spoil anything for you… but, am I the only one wondering why Selene was taking such “good” care of Ric’s girls?  I mean, why didn’t she kill them long ago, instead of cutting the crust off their sandwiches and feeding them the sugary cereal?  And, why did she let Virginia St. John (aka the crazy St. John sister) stab her?  I mean, she should’ve totally been able to take the crazy woman out!  And boy, I bet Caroline is totally kicking herself in the butt for saving her…. Lord knows, I would be.

Anyway, I hope I’ve kept this review like a woman’s skirt… long enough to cover everything, but short enough to keep it interesting. (that’s totally not mine… I stole that joke from Jon Bon Jovi.)

Next week, Stefan intends to “put Damon down”…. yeah, we’ll see how that goes.  Here’s a peek…

The Goldbergs get 90’s spin off

tumblr_nnlgnw84do1sootn5o3_500

The Goldberg’s, a TV show about a young nerd named Adam Golberg, growing up in the 80’s with his overbearing mom, super popular sister, wanna be cool older brother, Dad who likes his recliner a bit to much, and a grandfather who is always there for him (and thinks he is still in his 20s). Yes this TV series is one of my current fav’s. Reminds me so much of what it was like as a 80’s baby. Anyone who watches this show, from that era, can’t help the flash backs it will induce while you giggle at the life that may sound waaaaay to familiar to your own.

The Hollywood Reporter announced that executive producer’s Mark Firek, Doug Robinson and Seth Gordon will now be involved in a 90’s spin off of this awesome show, but it won’t star the Golberg family growing from the 80’s to the 90’s. Instead, the show will jump to a different family and star the gym teacher played by Bryan Callen, the comedian. The show will be about two high school teachers, one being Bryan Callen’s character, who becomes a father figure to the secretary of the schools three outcast kids. The show will still most likely take place in the same school we have seen in the original series of the Golbergs.

Hopefully this series makes it, as we know, some spin off’s don’t make it, and others, are better than the original. I personally would have loved to watch more of Adam growing up in the 90’s, considering he is a young boy in the 80’s and now is a teen of the 90’s (like I was). I don’t know, but that’s my opinion. ^_^

People of Earth S1 Ep2 “Sponsored By”

The second episode of the series gives us some more insight into each character. I’ve also included a longer season preview for you, in case you’re still wondering what the show has to offer.

“Sponsored By”

In “Sponsored By” the mystery of just what exactly happened to Ozzie deepens and we get to learn a bit about Kelly (Alice Wetterlund) and Chelsea (Tracee Chimo). We’re also introduced to Father Doug (played by Oscar Nunez from The Office) and Yvonne (Da’vine Joy Randolph).

Ozzie’s boss, Johnathan Walsh, is trying to get him to go back to New York and go back to working for the magazine Glint. Although Ozzie is pretty bored with his new job he’s determined to stay in Beacon to find out what the hell happened to him.

While at the police station looking for news to write about, he has another flashback of hitting the deer.

Later he’s informed by Gina that he needs to pick a sponsor from the group by the end of the meeting that night. Gerry really wants to be the one. While at lunch, Ozzie sees the deer again.

That night at the meeting, everyone is kissing up to Ozzie in an effort to get him to choose them as his sponsor.

During the meeting, we learn about Kelly’s experience with the elf looking alien. She seems to be attracted to it/him. Ozzie notices Kelly’s and Chelsea’s experiences were similar.

Because of the similarities, Ozzie suggests investigating everyone’s experiences to look for connections. This throws the group into another argument. They all believe each of their alien encounters was different.

While they argue, Yvonne offers to help Ozzie get concrete proof of the aliens. She separates Chelsea and Kelly and tells them to describe their experience. While they’re doing this, a picture of what they describe their alien to look like will be drawn and compared.

While the group tries their experiment, Gina is having to deal with Father Doug. He’s the pastor of Our Lady of Sorrows, the church where the group meets. Father Doug is not happy about the material the group is talking about on church grounds. He tells Gina this will be the last night the group can meet there.

The drawings are finally compared to hilarious results but Ozzie’s not amused. He’s getting more and more frustrated with his situation. He’s not sure what really happened to him the night of the accident. He’s tired of living in a motel and he’s fed up that his life has come to this. He decides to go home early.

As he leaves the church, Gerry rushes out to find out why. In an attempt to impress Ozzie, Gerry volunteers to get Ozzie’s car back for him. While he waits, Ozzie gets another call from Johnathan Walsh. We finally get to see Walsh go full alien. He’s trying to get Ozzie to go back to Glint. Apparently, Walsh’s superiors want Ozzie at the magazine so that he’s not investigating the alien abductions.

Ozzie hangs up with Walsh and heads to his hotel. In his room realizes he forgot his notebook at the group meeting. Just as he’s about to go back he sees the talking deer again.

He rushes back to the church where the meeting is still going on. The group is still discussing Kelly’s and Chelsea’s experiences and their personal lives. Chelsea gets emotional and runs out of the room.

Gerry pulls up in Ozzie’s car just as Ozzie gets back to the church. Ozzie sees the damage from his accident for the first time. As he gets into the car, he immediately has a flashback to his experience with the aliens. He begins to remember the whole thing.

It turns out Gerry stole the car from the police impound lot so he’s arrested. Afterward, Ozzie goes inside to get his notebook and finds that Kelly has read it. She sees Ozzie has rated all of the group members by how crazy he thinks they are. But they have a good talk about why they’re both there, so Ozzie asks her to be his sponsor.

The episode ends with Walsh being lectured by his superiors about the Ozzie situation. They’re all starting to realize Ozzie could find out what’s going on. The Reptile Alien decides he’s going to go down to Beacon and take care of the Ozzie situation himself.

Earlier, when Chelsea left the group to deal with her emotions, Father Doug found her and talks with her. As Gina is driving home, Father Doug texts her and says they can talk about the group staying on. It seems his talk with Chelsea made him realize he may be able to help the group members, too.

As Gina is texting and driving, she doesn’t see the Reptile Alien has appeared in the road in human form. She smashes into him and kills him. He’s tossed out of site so she drives off, not seeing anything.

Later, we see the town’s policeman get there to clean up the body. He covers the whole thing up, saying there’s nothing to be seen. Seems he’s in on it, too.

Marvel’s Cloak And Dagger TV Series Delayed To 2018

cloakdagger-0-0

Marvel’s plans for world domination look set to be delayed a smidge as their upcoming TV series based around popular comic book characters Cloak and Dagger has been pushed back to 2018.

Set to air on the Freeform Network, writer and co-executive producer of Marvel’s Daredevil, Joe Pokaski, will be at the helm as showrunner, and is reworking his initial script for the series. The show originally received a straight to series order from the network that looks set to stand despite the delay. Freeform is clearly hoping for the show to be a big hit once it airs, as ratings for the channel continue to drop in line with changing trends in the way we consume media. The delay is therefore likely to ensure the show airs at the highest quality in order to become an immediate success.

We’ve unfortunately seen before that Marvel’s brand power isn’t enough to ensure the success of a show. Agents of SHIELD premiered to an audience of 12 million, before a poorly scheduled and unfocused beginning to the show saw ratings dive. Though the quality has been in place for a good while now, the ratings never really recovered, and as such its future is questionable. Freeform will be looking to avoid the same happening with Cloak and Dagger, and there are some clear advantages and disadvantages the show has behind it.

Agents of SHIELD was the first TV show in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and was a huge risk for Marvel to take. The show was touted as being connected to the movies, and this was most clear with the resurrection of fan favourite Phil Coulson. However outside of this connection to the wider MCU often felt a bit lacking, with the notable exception of Captain America: The Winter Soldier, and the show initially failed to live up to the hype. As we now know connections between TV and the films are really very limited, be it on cable or Netflix, so expectations for Cloak and Dagger will be realistically set.

So though Marvel certainly now has a lot more experience with TV, Cloak and Dagger’s content could still alienate audiences. The show is essentially a ‘superhero love story’ that sees a pair of teenage runaways, Tyrone “Ty” Johnson (Cloak) and Tandy Bowen (Dagger), discover their gifts compliment one another. Cloak has the gifts of Teleportation and Intangibility, whilst Dagger has the ability to create light daggers and heal people. With Freeform aiming at millennials and teens, the more romantic nature of the show will likely split audiences. There will be those looking to watch only for the superhero action, so it will be interesting to see whether the romance angle will keep people hooked. Often in TV shows romance is forced in there to attract different demographics, but given this will be built around it from the start, things will hopefully feel natural.

Despite the pitfalls the series could fall into, Cloak and Dagger could end up being a very exciting addition to the MCU if done correctly, and if that means waiting a while longer then i’m all for it. In the meantime we’ve got an increasingly amazing 4th season of Agents of SHIELD, Iron Fist, The Defenders and The Punisher all coming up to keep us content. Add to this all the other Marvel projects in the works, and I think we can fairly say we’ve got plenty to enjoy for now.

‘Marvel’s Cloak and Dagger’ is set to premiere 2018.

MacGyver SN1 E8 – Corkscrew

mac-corkscrew

Sometimes, I’m a little dense.  Sometimes, it takes me a bit to get the joke.  This time it took me exactly 8 episodes.

Cute, CBS.  Really cute.

I’m sure you’re already in on the joke, but just to explain what I’m talking about… the episode titles are the “tool” Mac 2.0 uses to get out of the jam in that episode.  I swear I just heard you say .. “Took you long enough, Terri.”  You did, didn’t you?

This episode, Mac 2.0 used a (big surprise) corkscrew and empty paper towel rolls to save himself, Bozer and Jack from MURDOC!

I was so excited about this episode and the arrival of Murdoc!  I mean, if you’ve been with me since GO on this one (translation: reading my reviews for this show since episode 1) then you know, I’ve been begging for Murdoc.  In Mac 1.0, Murdoc was played by Michael Des Barres…. and menacing as hell, but still it was a joy to watch him on screen.  He was a big scene stealer with his smart ass quips and big elaborate assassination plans.  And, even though he was hired to kill Mac 1.0, Murdoc respected him and was smart enough not to underestimate him.  The Mac 1.0 episodes with Murdoc were all among my favorite episodes.   Mac 2.0’s arch nemesis is played by David Dastmalchian, and he was creepy, but nowhere near as enjoyable to watch as Murdoc 1.0.  I’m hoping that will get better.

We saw Nikki again.  I told you we would.  Mac 2.0 was convinced that Nikki hired Murdoc to kill him.  As the episode plays out we learn that Murdoc wasn’t hired to kill just Angus, but his whole team as well.

We also find out that (if you wanna believe Nikki) that Nikki didn’t hire him.  I was sure that it was El Nacho Cheese (Jack’s name for him) the drug lord from last week.  But, I’m not so sure now.  And Nikki (if you can believe her) did hint at it being a bigger plot than that when she met up with Mac 2.0 at a diner at the end of the episode.  So.  Who IS trying to kill Team Mac?  We’ll just have to wait and see.

The bowl of paper clips was in this episode as well.  I also thought it hilarious that Thorton locked Angus up to keep him safe… since, ya know, they all thought Murdoc was trying to kill him (and not ALL of them).  Like she honestly thought he couldn’t escape from that room.  At least, our man Jack knew that the room couldn’t hold him and was waiting with a “What took you so long?” in the parking garage.  In Thorton’s defense, she DID take his Swiss Army knife away… thinking she was “disarming” him.

Well… that’s a laugh and a half.  I mean, c’mon… he wouldn’t be MacGyver if that’s all it took to keep him locked up.

Oh.  I almost forgot the “opening gambit” this time.  Mac had a date!  That’s right, a date.  And where did they go on their date?  An escape room.  That’s just f’d up funny right there.  I’ve joked about going to one of those escape room places, but I’ve said to all my friends that wanted to put a team together and go, that I’d only go if we had MacGyver on our team.  Yeah, I was laughing at that part of the show… long and hard.  Everyone (even Thornton) teased Mac about his date.  That’s what families do, ya know?

Next week, Team Mac has to protect an embassy full of people… here, have a look….
