Supernatural SN12 E2 – Mamma Mia

spn-luci

In this episode we got our first look at the new Lucifer.  I gotta say that I love Mark Pellegrino, to me he was the only Lucifer… until last night.  I really like what Rick Springfield is doing with this character.  The badass fallen angel… however, I want to see the same characteristics that Pellegrino brought to the character.  After all, Lucifer is still supposed to be the same “character” just wearing a different meat suit to the prom.  I want to see that same irreverent unapologetic smart ass that Pellegrino was… the Lucifer that played Heaven Must Be Missing an Angel by the Tavares when he fought for his freedom from the cage.  The same Lucifer that made us laugh with his wise cracks even while he was torturing our Sammy inside Sam’s head driving him completely insane.  In short, Rick has the look and the acting chops, but I want to love to hate him… like I love Mark.  So, admittedly, that last part has to be written before Rick can play it that way … yeah, I’m looking at you SPN writers.  Rick’s scenes with Ruthie (Rowena) were just great.  I spent the whole time going … “Please don’t kill Ro again… please don’t kill Ro again…”.  And yeah, if I said it once I said it fifteen times.  But all in all, I’m liking Rick as Lucifer… show me more!

Now, after saying all of that, let me tell you that I got the opportunity to meet Rick after a concert on the 18th.  I welcomed him to the SPN Family, and when I mentioned that I wrote reviews for Skatronixxx, he said “Be kind to me”.  I’m telling you all that just to keep an open and honest relationship between us here.  But, anybody that really knows me knows that I speak my mind and it wouldn’t have mattered if he’d kissed my hand and pleaded with those big beautiful brown eyes… if he’d have sucked, I’d have said so.  And he didn’t… suck that is… not the kissing and pleading part.

Now, on with the rest of the episode…

spn-family

When it said “Now” on my screen and then showed Sammy and Lady Toni (just for reference I spit after saying her name now… that’s what we do in the South when we have to say something we don’t like.  i.e. as an Arkansas Razorback fan I do it every time I say LSU) I was pissed… fuming!  I couldn’t believe that they were doing the exact same thing that almost the entire SPN famdom begged them NOT to do.  But, then my mind engaged and I started realizing a few things.  It was how she spoke to him at first… but then when we saw Dean, Mary and Cas were still looking for him, that’s when I knew.  Sammy… Our Sammy… wouldn’t be romping in a bed with Lady Toni (spit) without dropping a dime and calling Dean to let him know he was okay.  Because obviously if they were really doing the horizontal mambo then her ladyship would’ve told him that Dean wasn’t really dead, so he’d have known a phone call was in order.  Soulless Sam would’ve done something like that, yeah, but not OUR Sammy.  (fun fact… if you google “soulless” .. Soulless Sam is one of the suggested options).

I’m enjoying the scenes with Mary.  She’s still finding her way, and concerned that Sam isn’t going to accept her given that “all of this” is her fault.  That her deal with Azazel is the reason they were raised as hunters.  That’s the excuse I’m giving her for not being more hell bent on finding Sam.  If someone had shot and kidnapped one of my daughters, even if I hadn’t been around for 33 years, I’d be a little more obsessed with finding my child.  When Dean asked her how she’d slept … my answer would’ve been “not at all”.  There wouldn’t be any sleeping until I found my child.

Last week, I said that they better give me a rescue worthy of Liam Neeson in Taken this week, or we were going to have a problem.  The Show scored big on that one!  Although, I’m sure that being caught and then having to be rescued by his mom wasn’t Dean’s Plan A… but Plan B worked pretty well.  The best line of the episode comes after Dean is caught by Lady Toni (spit) when he asks Sam “Who’s Angry Spice?”.

But, the line that hit me right in the feels … Sam telling Mary, “You, being here, fills in the biggest blank.”  No.  I wasn’t crying.  That was just allergies.  Shut up!  Yes it was!

I’m very excited to see how this all plays out with the British MoL, Lucifer, even Mama Mary.  And that’s why this show… this group of characters … this FAMILY… still has a very firm grasp on my very short attention span even 12 seasons in.

Also, I wanted to add something that I realized about last week’s episode.  I’ve watched it more than once.. ya know, for science and all… but I didn’t realize this until watching the “then” parts… When Sam was walking toward Lady Toni (spit) in the finale while trying to talk her down, he wasn’t doing that all random.  No.  He was going for that gun that was strapped under that table… the one that Dean got when he came in and realized something bad had gone down.. the one he gave to Mary.  So there was reason to his “We both know you won’t shoot” … it wasn’t just a dare.

Man, I was really wordy this week.  Sorry ’bout that.

Scream Queens S2 EP2 – ‘Warts and All’

The previous episode left us wondering if the ‘green meanie’ killed Chanel No.5, but no need to worry as she is very much alive, and even after seeing the werewolf lady being beheaded everyone is still treating her badly. The Chanel’s and the police suggested she was the killer even though she was locked in the bath. However, this episode was not all bad for Chanel No 5, as she (almost) found love with wart-covered patient Tyler (an unrecognisable Colton Haynes), but of course this was short-lived as he was murdered at the end of the episode.

On the left, Emma Roberts as Chanel No1, On the right, Colton Haynes as Tyler

Zayday and Chamberlin teamed up to investigate and confront Munsch about the hospital and the previous massacre of the hospital staff back in the day. This prompted Munsch to reveal the real reason she purchased the hospital, she believes she is dying from a mystery disease and wants find a cure. Determined to help, Zayday figures out that Munsch has Kuru, which she contracted in New Guinea after accidently eating human flesh. Zayday tells Munsch she had a year to live, what they don’t know is that Nurse Hoffel is listening in, but we do not yet know what she will do with this information.

This episode saw the return of Chad Radwell, who dresses up in the red devil costume to scare Chanel No.1, and also reveals it was Chad who was in the red devil costume at the end of the season 1 finale. Chad becomes extremely jealous of Chanel No.1 and Dr Holts relationship, prompting a tense game of ‘Squash’ and a steamy shower scene. This also leads him to find out Holt’s crazy hand belonged to a serial killer.

While wondering the halls, Munsch is attacked by the ‘green meanie’, and impressively she takes him down, but is interrupted by Chanel No.3 and Dr Cascade before she can unmask them. This leads Munsch to contact Denise Hemphill, now Special Agent. After speculating once again that Zayday is the killer, Denise suggests they should go to see Hester for help. Hester locked away, somehow seems to know all the details about the murders, but refuses to help until they give in to her demands.

I really enjoyed this week’s episode, it was so funny, probably due to the return of fan-favourites Hester, Chad and Denise, who are arguably the funniest of all the characters.

Last season killed off plenty of main characters and now we are really attached to these characters, and with Chanel No 5 surviving, will they be brave enough to kill off any of them this season?

Some questions we want to know; Will Holt be able to keep his killer hand under control? What does Nurse Hoffel want with the Chanel’s? Who will win Chanel No.1’s heart, Dr Holt or Chad? How does Hester know about the new killings? Who is the ‘green meanie? And is the hospital massacre killer and the present day killer the same person?

Have you already worked out who the ‘green meanie’ is? Let us know you theories in the comments.

You’re the Worst S3 E8

Paul is talking loudly while Lindsay is having sex with another man. She is so troubled by his talking that is messes up her needs. Jimmy feels oddly aimless do to his father’s death, but also so open now. He heads off to the reservoir when he finds out it exists.

Edgar is making Youtube videos as a character he calls Dr.Weed. Gretchen tells him to really go for it because she doesn’t want him to waste time. She gets him to email a journalist that would like to talk to him. Gretchen is doing quite the job as a mom figure.

Jimmy is trying out new things and ends up in a basketball game with a bunch of athletic men. He slips on the ball and hurts his ankle. Lindsay gets Paul to agree to let her go and have sex with other men without him watching.

Jimmy has his ex’s husband Vernon fix his foot. He then agrees to do his podcast in the vein of trying new things out.

Gretchen helps Edgar get out his thoughts about the VA and his use of Marijuana. He tells of how many treatments he has had to try and how only pot has ever done anything.

Paul has researched Lindsay’s new needs. He cages his junk so he will always associate arousal with pain. What a sad individual.

Vernon talks to Jimmy about his father on his podcast. He actually helps him lose a little of the stress he has felt. Jimmy doesn’t have a reason to write anymore and he can now be himself since his father died.

Gretchen is happy for Edgar when he shows her what she did. She has now made Edgar part of the Pot agenda and he is upset by this. Jimmy went to Kinko’s and really does have no idea who he is. He decides he may be a carpenter and goes outside to try things. Clearly her helping has not been helpful.

Gretchen finds her therapist playing a game at a bar and begins unloading on her, much to the therapist’s chagrin.

Another amazing episode of You’re the Worst where Jimmy busted free of his father’s hold on him. Gretchen realized her mother was horrible and Edgar found himself where he didn’t want to be. With all its ups and downs I am always excited for the next episode!

American Horror Story: Roanoke ‘Chapter 6’

Last week’s episode ‘Chapter 5‘ we learned of Edward Mott who built the Roanoke House, however  during construction there were a few gruesome incidents. The Colony still continues to haunt the Millers. Matt and Shelby also find themselves on the wrong side of the very odd Polk family and the matriarch Mamma Polk (Frances Conroy).

Roanoke ‘Chapter 6’

Chapter 6 starts with the following statement:

My Roanoke Nightmare was the television success story of 2015. With minimal promotion, the show garnered 23 million views by its finale, topping that week’s airing of Sunday night football, Empire, and The Walking Dead. Eager to capitalise on the success, the network asked the producer to create at follow-up series.

The Producer of My Roanoke Nightmare Sidney James (Cheyenne Jackson) armed with a film crew ambushes Frank, the network president, with a surprise on-camera pitch. Sidney details the documentation od the reality that the audiences are craving, including social media and marketing, he wants to reunite the Millers and the two actors who played them for his new his idea Return To Roanoke: Three Days in Hell, which he wants to be a hidden camera reality show that will be filmed during the “Blood Moon” and capturing the real reactions to the fake scares he intends to set up. Sidney also mentions  that he brought the Roanoke house from Matt (André Holland) and Shelby (Lily Rabe) . He emerges from the meeting with the greenlight for 13 episodes, however, its short-lived when Sidney’s assistant Diana Cross (Shannon Lucio) tells him Shelby refuses to participate.

fxs-american-horror-story-roanoke-chapter-5-sidney-670x388

10 weeks before the “Blood Moon” Sidney sets up an interview with Shelby in Ojai. Since the show, Shelby and Matt have separated and she has been receiving death threats. Shelby had a fling with Dominic Banks (Cuba Gooding Jr.), who played Matt. Shelby insists that Dominic is not to be involved, however, unbeknownst to her, Dominic is already contracted. Two weeks prior to the “Blood Moon the Roanoke house is being fitted with additional cameras and scare gimmicks to create drama. Alissa, a crew member had found a circle of dead fetal pigs to Diana’s and Sidney’s attention, no one knows how they got there. It’s not the work of the Polk family, they have been MIA for weeks.

wp-1477020423675.png

Agnes Winstead (Kathy Bates), the actress who played “The Butcher” talks about her experience on the show but there is a little more to Agnes’s story, an incident occurred when Agnes terrorised and slashed at bystanders down Hollywood Boulevard, which landed her a stint in a mental health facility and charged with assault. Sidney thinks Agnes is responsible for the fetal pig incident at Roanoke and slaps her with a restraining order. My brain keeps telling me that perhaps Agnes isn’t crazy, but actually possessed by The Butcher while filming the show? Or am I over thinking it?

fxs-american-horror-story-roanoke-chapter-5-agnes-goes-crazy-670x388

Another incident has happened at the Roanoke house, this time Greg, one of the crew is cutting wood for the hot tub, when his chainsaw was thrust into his neck, removing his head clean off and obviously killing him. Sidney decides to go ahead with production but Diana is furious and tells Sidney she’s done and speeds off, she films an affidavit about what is happening on the show and why she is leaving. Diana stops and turns the camera around and we see what looks like a Roanoke colonist, she continues to drive when the Piggy man emerges from behind her seat and kills her. Diana’s footage was recovered three months later by police, but her body was never found.

Audrey Tindall (Sarah Paulson), who played Shelby and her new husband Rory Monahan (Evan Peters), who played Edward Mott arrive at the house first, while filming on his phone she catches a glimpse of Agnes who smashes a window. Audrey has been terrorised by Agnes who has been stalking her. When Matt and Lee (Adina Porter) arrive you could cut the tension with a knife.

fxs-american-horror-story-roanoke-chapter-6-rory-and-audrey

Another statement appears stating:

Over the next three days during the blood moon, every participant in the series died under mysterious circumstances.

Except for one.

As the night goes on in the house, Shelby tries to reconcile with Matt, while Monet Tumusiime(Angela Bassett), who played Lee, tries to blame method acting as Lee turned her into an alcoholic. When Dominic arrives, Matt sees red and attacks him until the others break it up. Audrey gets out of the shower to find the Piggy man staring at her. Rory,  furious tries to find Piggy man, thinking it’s a set up by Sidney gets hacked to death by the Jane sisters, who finally get to complete their MURDER tableau.

The show never aired and we are told that what we’ve been seeing is the assembled found footage.

Wow, what an episode!!! My fellow AHS fans, what did you think of this week’s episode? Let us know your thought in the comments. I don’t know about you guys but Wednesday can not come soon enough, bring on ‘Chapter 7’!

American Horror Story airs Wednesday at 10 p.m. on FX

The ‘Survivor: Millennials Vs Gen-X’ Review – “Idol Search Party”

Yes! finally. After that Tribe Submit fake-out from a few weeks back we reach the halfway point for any Survivor season. The Tribe Swap, or should that be Tribe Expansion? Maybe a Tribe Swap-Sion?

I don’t think that’ll catch on.

Regardless the name, we now have Three Tribes, which not only means we have to eventually learn the True Millennials & Gen-X Tribes names – good luck with that one – but we also finally we see the back of ‘Age Wars’.

And I couldn’t be happier.

survivor-millennials-vs-gen-x

Now don’t get me wrong, contrary to my Survivor Off-season bias towards the tag-line to this season. The actuality of having two Tribes separated by Generational lines had its upside, mainly with how fun the Millennials castaways turned out to be. With Jay, Michelle, Zeke and Adam proving not only their strategic-chops but giving us compelling characters that have become the central focus midway through this season.

But damn, time spent with Gen-X was rough. Thank God for David’s terrible gameplay is all I’ve got to say on that matter.

So back to our new Tribes.

With Ken and Jessica uniting at the beginning of the episode, their newly formed Alliance was soon put to the test when Fig-Tails and Adam joined the new Takali (Gen-X) Tribe. Down in the numbers it didn’t take Ken long to form a bond with Adam, who coyly opened his craw about Figgy and Taylor being in the majority Alliance back on the Millennial Tribe.

survivor-millennials-vs-gen-x

Of course Kind-Ken told Adam that he was good with him and Jess which could mean that Figgy’s days in the game are number. Which I beg, please-please-please make it next week because honestly I don’t think I can put-up with this showmance much longer. Its not only because its terrible strategy – sorry Taylor, but it is – it just isn’t compelling TV to watch two (granted) hot people macking on each other.

As Michaela told us “That’s disgusting!”

What an episode for Michaela. Just last week I was singing her praises so it warms the cockles of my heart to see her stand-out. And on a swap-episode no less. Which given the numerous new dynamics the Survivor Producers have to establish. It’s a hard thing to achieve.

But things didn’t get off to the best of starts for the Grade-A narrator of the Season.

survivor-millennials-vs-gen-x

With her picking the Green Buff alongside Jay, Will, Hannah, Bret and Sunday. It meant that this years Angkor Tribe would have to move to a new camp and start from scratch. A prospect that even the ever hopeful Jay couldn’t see the upside in, even though the Millennials have the numbers advantage in the new Ikabula Tribe.

Unlike the terrible Angkor Tribe from Survivor Cambodia. Ikabula would go on to win their first Immunity Challenge followed closely by Takali which meant that David would once again face Tribal Council.

Good thing he found that Hidden Immunity Idol again right?

survivor-millennials-vs-gen-x

For what was overall a strong episode of Survivor, was anyone really surprised that CeCe went home? Although granted she was part of the Ken & David Alliance, most – if not all – of her story was told by proxy of the aforementioned men. So when CeCe’s spike in confessionals went up this episode, so did the likelihood that she would go home even though the Producers tried their damnedest to throw Michelle out there.

So far Millennials Vs Gen-X has proven (in spite of the horrible title) that it is a strong season with many of the weaker players (sans Mari of course) being eliminated early on. Which is often a hallmark of a great season.

Lets hope Survivors hot-streak continues.

She calls Felix who wakes up from his nap. Charlotte is so happy that Oscar flew half way around the world in the name of love. Teddy even calls in Boys II Men to make everything even sweeter, though he didn’t realize Oscar wasn’t in New York. Really a fantastic gesture on Teddy’s part.

New Girl S6 E5 ‘Jaipur Aviv’

Schmidt and Cece are working to remodel their house and the gang is totally into the idea of helping them out. Winston is shocked at how big the loft is, and runs around looking for echoes. Nick suggests Reagan lives in the apartment. Winston feels like he has been in their house before.

Cece wants to help with the interior design of the house but Schmidt isn’t up for her thoughts. Nick holds a loft meeting to bring Reagan into the loft but it is not accepted. Jess decides to help him out and get the two votes so Reagan can move in.

Jess and Nick believe Cece voted with them so its up to Jess to bring Winston and Schmidt to their side. Winston apologizes for  his vote and then he tells him this house was part of a porn. They need to give up a secret as they are the keepers of five secrets.

Schmidt will only vote yea if he says he and Reagan live in his loft and if he lets him buy him jeans. Winston will only vote yea if Reagan and Nick spend time with his cat Ferguson and sees him in his new Jeans.

Jess realizes its Cece and now has to figure out away to sway her to their side.Cece says she will only vote yea if Nick and Reagan are only physical in their room.

Nick ends up voting nay because he is actually freaking out about the thought of living with his girlfriend. Schmidt and Cece begin to compromise about their house and you can really see the love.

Nick may not ask Reagan to move in but he can. He isn’t sure how to ask her, but asks his friends and they give him advice. I for one hope that she moves in and I’m sure she will.

I enjoyed this episode, it was really sweet for Schmidt to christen their house in the idea of he and Cece’s marriage. This show is so good because the actors play off each other so well. I am excited to see where things go between Jess and Nick, especially with Reagan presumably moving in.
