New Wizard of Oz Prequel in the Works – Possibly Starring Nathan Fillion

The wonderful Nathan Fillion could be starring as the Wizard of Oz in a new prequel movie. The movie, based on the 1991 book How The Wizard Came to Oz by Donald Abbot is reportedly in development by RAMstar Studios. The story, which is similar to the 2013 film Oz: The Great and Powerful starring James Franco, follows circus con man Oscar Diggs on his journey to become the man behind the curtain.

While it seems a little soon to essentially be remaking a film from three years ago, whoever complained about a Nathan Fillion vehicle? Also, Oscar Diggs has the opportunity to be very silly in the build up to being the ruler of the Emerald City, so we could potentially be in for a treat – as long as the project is approached with a brain, a bit of heart and some courage of course!

The story synopsis is as follows:

“Discover how everyone’s favorite humbug first found his way to Oz! When circus stuntman Oscar Diggs goes aloft in a balloon and is blown over the rainbow to the land of Oz at the time when both wicked witches are still alive and kicking, he’s in for the biggest challenge of his life! Through a delicious set of misunderstandings, the people of Oz mistake Oscar for a mighty wizard and Oscar, ever the showman, plays right along. Staying one jump ahead of the two wicked witches is no easy feat, but Oscar’s wit and bag of tricks help him carry the day!”

The movie is set to be directed by Cole S McKay, who has been no stranger to movie sets for over 30 years. He’s had some directing experience, however his most prolific work seems to be as a stunt coordinator. That suggests there could be some pretty daring action sequences alongside Fillion‘s signature charm.

Amazing World of Gumball S5 E5 ‘The Choices’

We begin this episode with a voice over from Nicole Watterson, Gumball’s mom. The kids are really hungry and yelling for food. Soon Richard joins in because he is basically the fourth child. She remembers back to her past when she met Richard.

She is on her way to a martial arts tournament. As the car she’s in crashes and she dashes to the tournament. She soon runs into Richard who is stuck in a log.

IF she had gone right she would have taken over the world. If she had listened to Banana Bob’s song she would have married him and gone insane. If she had stopped with Harold she would have eventually burned down their home. Listening to Mr.Small would result in her death. If she hadn’t stepped on the butterfly or gone the guy’s motorcycle she also would have died.

She realizes the only thing she could have done is met Richard. The final chunk of the episode is dedicated to a montage of Richard and Nicole falling in love. It really is a rather touching montage and it did get me teary eyed, I will admit. Nicole and Richard could never be together if she hadn’t left home and that is what she did. Their love is true and pure and that is something special.

I loved seeing their family grow too, as we haven’t seen much of Anais’ youth. Of course she was a genius as a baby, because nowadays there seems to be an unspoken rule that that the younger sister has to be a genius.

This episode was really nice because it held a lot of back story. There were a few inconsistencies like Richard not screaming the whole time, but C’est la vie. I love when cartoons aren’t afraid to play with emotions and make the viewer feel something. This show while it definitely is humorous often does this just because of how well written it is.

Son of Zorn, S1 E4 ‘Weekend Warrior’

Zorn is shopping with his ex wife Edie and Craig, he is going to take Alan for the weekend and they need to stock up. Alan is allowed to have skateboards and Zorn just wants him to love him. Zorn would definitely allow Alan to do whatever he wanted but is caught between a rock and a hard-place because of his ex. It really is quite prevalent in our society which always makes this scenario work in shows.

Alan is trying to look cool to his new friend, and tells them he is throwing a house party. Zorn is asking anyone he can for help but with little luck. Alan is changing because he is trying to be cool. He ends up saying some not so appropriate things to his mother and step father, who then also tries to be cool by repeating them.

Zorn is trying to be a good dad, but is clearly boring Alan. It is obvious Zorn doesn’t want to be like this, but he feels he must and that is okay, you can’t be your son’s friend and parent after all. Alan gets a text from his friend asking when they should come over. Zorn kills the fun of the evening by dancing to Blues Traveler and Alan leaves with his friends, taking his lava gun. Zorn really should have taken better care not to leave that out, paper towels aren’t going to stop anything.

Zorn soon realizes the gun is gone but its too late. Alan and his friend Jeff get into a scuffle and launch a blast of lava into the parking lot. Zorn saves the day and punishes Alan, sending him to his room.

Zorn actually can be a pretty good father, when he listens to his ex-wife. He really just wants to make up for lost time, and with a son as old as Alan he doesn’t have that much time to do so. I’m sure by the end of this season he will be a lot closer to his son, and that is all any father can want.

Another good episode to this weird live action/ animation hybrid show. The animation really does allow this show to go anywhere the artist’s art can take them and that is a good thing.

Family Guy S15 E3 ‘The American Gigg-olo’

The family is watching the news when they find out the pilots are having a strike. Brian finds out he is no longer getting insurance through the Griffins. Brian recounts how he has a got a hernia when he nearly saved a woman.

Peter retells a story of time he was on the Access Hollywood bus with Trump.

Quagmire finds a bachelorette party and they think he is a stripper.Stripper Quagmire can’t possibly go wrong, right?  Brian got a job at a hardware store and is acting like a working man now. Brian is such a flip floppy character he never really does for himself always changing to suit the people around him.

Quagmire leaves his friends to strip and the guys follow him to find out what he is up to. They find him stripping and he is shocked to see them there. He says he is only a dancer but soon changes his tune when a hot bride to be wants to have intercourse with him. There is even a cameo by the “Who else but Quagmire guy” a nice call back to previous episodes I’d say.

Peter goes to pick up Quagmire and ends up becoming his pimp. Brian is trying to really do his job even when he is out of work. He is happy and Stewie almost lets him enjoy himself as the credits roll, of course Stewie is going to destroy his happiness.

Peter is taking his pimp duties to a new extreme because of course he is. Peter can never not take things to the next level because that is just the kind of guy he is.Stewie gets Brian fired when he hires some Hispanic men. They shake up a can of soda and give it to his boss, which actually does the trick.

Quagmire is part of a prostitution documentary, Peter as the pimp is also involved. All Peter wants is to see Guardians of the Galaxy but is worried there may be scary parts. Stewie causes Brian’s hernia to rupture and Brian tells him to help him. Stewie helps Brian and feels super happy with himself.

Peter and Quagmire get into a spot with a rough German woman causing Peter to apologize and they quit the prostitution game. Good thing guys, get out of the game before it really does something terrible to you. This was a decent episode, a little more risque then some episodes but all around a good episode. I will certainly keep watching this show until it is done, because the humor is still there!

Last Man on Earth S3 E4 ‘You’re all going to Diet’

After a recap of the last episode where the gang realizes Pat is gone. They find a trail of blood leading to the beach. Phil gets the gang to stay even though Pat could come back anytime. He rigs up an alarm system using singing bass on the wall.

Melissa has made a sniper’s nest to watch out for Pat. She clearly isn’t all that stable. Which is obviously great because it will lead to more humor I am sure. Phil runs in wearing a suit like Pat’s scaring the gang. He gives a speech and most of the gang is skeptical. He is going to offer self defense lessons, and when Louis offers his support he pulls him in and ends up tasing him.

Carol makes something to camouflage the cow and Phil muses about how Louis must hate him. The booby trap is set off and when they all go to see if it is Pat they find its just Erica. Phil asks Louis to be his friend through a long winded story and it works. They are on the beach, when Melissa tells them to run, as the football they are playing with hits the beach there is an explosion.

Melissa has put many landmines in the sand. Of course, she has done this, this chick is off her rocker and also would do anything to protect her friends.  Louis asks why they are still in Malibu, it does make no sense that they stay here. After the tide washes in and blows up the land mines they all decide to leave. Even though Phil doesn’t want to, he concedes for his new friend Louis.

Phil says goodbye to the wall fish, as Carol looks through her sketchbook. They all pack up ready to move away from Malibu. They pay respects to those they lost and climb into their cars. They drive in search of a new home, not knowing where they are going to end up. Such a good episode, with just the right amount of tension and humor. Excited for the next episode “Five Hoda Kotbs”.

Watch Artist Jim Lee draw Wonder Woman in a timelapse video!

Below is a video of Jim Lee beautifully drawing Wonder Woman. He talks through out the time laps about him and his work, how it feels to draw her and what he is trying to portray. He states, “The most important thing when drawing a character, especially like Wonder Woman who is so iconic, so well known, is really capturing the emotional state of the character. Trying to represent visually the things that she stands for, power, equality, strength..” Which he does so masterfully in this video. He goes on to talk about how long it takes for him to draw these characters, and how it becomes like a signature after sometime.

You can watch this and other videos of his on Youtube, like him drawing the Joker as well. I hope you all enjoy this as much as I did. Though drawing was not my thing, I can see my daughter becoming like this amazing artist here. I can’t wait to show her this video. ^_^

The Simpsons S28 E4 ‘Treehouse of Horror XXVII’

Homer takes the family Christmas tree shopping on Halloween and soon  meet some of their greatest villains. Sideshow Bob, Frank Grimes’ Ghost, The evil Leprechaun, and Kodos, who besides Grimes, Maggie kills instantly.

In the first story, “Dry Hard” all of the water dries up in Springfield. Of course Mr.Burns is the only one who has water, and creates a Hunger-games style event. Lisa is chosen as her districts hero, and her coach is a Homer character.

Lisa finds two young men and Homer falls down from the sky ending their lives. Lisa of course decides to take control and take on Burns. They destroy the dam and the water dries up before rain falls. There is a flood which soon becomes a frozen tundra somehow. The story ends with Lisa burning Mr.Burns corpse for warmth.

The next story is BFF RIP and is also a Lisa story. Lisa loses everyone who says they are her best friend. Her imaginary friend from the past is brought up and clearly has a part in this. On the bus, she suddenly appears and kills Milhouse with plastic wrap. Bart rescues Lisa from jail after accidentally sending her imaginary friend to kill Marge.  Though luckily Snowball their cat saves her.

Rachel is out to kill Marge and everyone else she loves.  Homer summons his imaginary friend to stop her but she kills him. Lisa turns her into her mother and she vanishes from existence.

The final story is called “Moefinger” and starts with Bart running from bullies. Moe appears and offs the bullies taking Bart under his wing. Bart is tasked with avenging Homer. Loving how its clearly a version of Kingsman. The villain is none other then Homer. Bart and Moe take down countless Simpsons characters in a brawl.

Bart kills Homer, and kisses Sherri before a song about it being the 600th episode. Here’s hoping there is another 600 more.

Son of Zorn S1 E3 ‘War of the Workplace’

Zorn destroys his step father’s sandcastle at the beach. Zorn yells at him but he is saved by his wife. Zorn then destroys two little girl’s sandcastles, relishing in their screams. Alan is wearing sweatpants to hide his animated legs and is ridiculed by a bully.

Zorn is talking to an IT Guy about his adventures. Alan is being bullied and his stepfather and mother find out. They try to help him but he pushes them away.

Zorn can’t help but play at work because he wants to fight. A man comes in and steals the office’s hot sauce of course Zorn isn’t going to stand for it. Zorn tries to call his coworkers to war and ends up shorting the lights in the office. Zorn is crawling through the air ducts when his ex wife calls to tell him Alan is being bullied. How will Zorn over react to this?

Alan tries to talk to his bully insults him getting punched for it. Zorn gets one of his coworkers to keep watch and goes to steal back the hot sauce. Zorn goes to talk to his son, who still doesn’t want to tell the truth, until Zorn knocks his hat off to show his black eye.

Zorn tries to teach Alan to fight but is told to stop. His mother and step father begin offering help. His mother’s instincts kick in when he tries to attack her and it is pretty cool to see.

Zorn booby traps the fridge to stop people from taking anything. Zorn is punished for booby trapping the break room. Zorn’s friend comes to see him and tell him the thief is taking more things. Alan’s mom gives him a note to give to his gym teacher that he is allergic to chlorine. Zorn puts blood into a bottle of cranberry juice which the thief drinks.

The thief’s boss makes him apologize and Zorn is upset that they won’t fight. Alan gets out of gym class and when his bully comes in they have a fight, but Alan uses his step dad’s move. In  a swift kick he knocks his bully back and ends his bullying once and for all. He definitely realizes that being half magical has its perks.

Zorn’s boss gets him to enjoy work finally. At dinner he sings of Alan’s fight. When Craig sings along he breaks his instrument. Another good episode in a weird and interesting show. You can never be sure what antics are going to occur in this show, that is for sure. Looking forward to the next episode ‘Weekend Warrior’

Roanoke ‘Chapter 5’

This week we learned of Edward Philippe Mott (Evan Peters) an eccentric from Philadelphia, who purchased the house and the grounds as a retreat. Mott filled the house with artwork and had the shakers building the house, craft a series of underground tunnels that led into the woods as an escape, however, during the build several tragic accidents befell the builders. Mott left a wife and heir behind in Philadelphia, to live in the Sappony (Roanoke House) mansion with his black male lover, Guinness (Henderson Wade).

Mott, obsessed with art was devastated when he awoke to find all his beloved art was slashed, a household servants claimed she saw invades from the woods, but Mott doesn’t buy it and locks all the household staff in the root cellar, until they confess, he also dismisses his lover, a slave in his adult size tantrum. The Villagers dragged Mott to his impalement and immolation. Guinness had escaped but was later jailed and never spoke of the house staff that were trapped the root cellar, they were discovered years later as the house was passed down the line of Mott descendants through the centuries, until Dandy Mott the last decedent who dies in 1952.

Matt (Cuba Gooding Jr.) and Shelby (Sarah Paulson) and Flora (Saniyya Sidney) are captured and blindfolded by the Polk family and taken to their house where they find Elias (Denis O’Hare) is being kept alive and has been partially dismembered, Elias is barely conscious but manages to warn Matt that Mumma Polk (Frances Conroy) took his leg. Mamma Polk emerges with jerky and offers it to the Millers, lucky they declined, it was Elias jerky! The Polk family has had a deal with The Butcher (Kathy Bates) for 200 years, The Polks are left in peace in exchange for sacrifices and blood concentrations.

ahs-roanoke-bates

The Polks turn the Millers over to the Butcher, Flora is taken to be killed, but Ambrose (Wes Bentley) attacks his mother instead, pulling her into a pyre. With Mott’s intervention and Lee arriving back at the house at the perfect time, the Miller’s were able to escape the evil of Roanoke, the family fled to a cheap motel with nothing but the clothes on their backs. In her closing testimonial, Shelby mentions she is still haunted by her continuing nightmares.

What did you think of this week’s episode?  American Horror Story: Roanoke ‘Chapter 6’ will air on 19th Oct. 2016 on FX.
