Is It A Bird? Is It A Plane? No, It’s Grant! – The Doctor Teams Up With A Superhero This Christmas

Some more details were revealed on the 2016 Doctor Who Christmas Special at New York Comic Con today. This year’s Special will be called ‘The Return of Doctor Mysterio‘ and will see the Doctor (Peter Capaldi), Nardole (Matt Lucas) and an investigative journalist (Charity Wakefield) team up with a superhero called Doctor Mysterio (real name: Grant, played by Justin Chatwin) to save New York from an alien threat.

As with the other Christmas Specials, the Steven Moffat-penned episode will be 60 minutes long and air on Christmas Day on BBC1.

One thing that’s sure to geek out our readers is the revelation that Steven Moffat is a comic-book nerd.

“I’ve always loved superheroes and this Christmas Doctor Who dives into that world,” he said. “My favourite superhero is Clark Kent. Not Superman, Clark Kent,”

here_s_your_first_look_behind_the_scenes_of_the_doctor_who_christmas_special

Doctor Mysterio himself had the following to say about his time on the show:

“Working with the amazing people at Doctor Who has been one of the most fun and rewarding projects I’ve ever had the pleasure of being involved with,”

The Return of Doctor Mysterio will also star Adetomiwa Edun (Bates Motel), Aleksandar Jovanovic (Treasure Island) and Logan Hoffman. You can watch the behind the scenes teaser below:

Here’s hoping Doctor Mysterio will be revealed as the son of The Karkus from the 1968 Doctor Who Serial The Mind Robber.

We Bare Bears S2 E 16 ‘Baby Bears on a Plane’

The Baby bears are back and on a plane to Sweden. Such cute bears when they are young. Of course things aren’t going to be easy for our little heroes. I love how excited they are by everything on the plane. They split up and sit in different parts of the plane.

Grizz chooses first class and enjoys an action movie.Panda sits between a man and woman with a baby. Ice Bear ever the luckiest is found by the captain and brought to the captain’s quarters. He always gets the best treatment.

Grizz is on the plane and happens to be next to the star of the movie they are showing. Diedrech Bader has such a great voice for strong male characters. Panda is having a terrible time as usual and has his pretzel stolen by a baby.Ice bear is freaked out by the captains not knowing everything about the plane. They then play boardgames.

There is turbulence as Panda heads out to grab pancakes. He is followed by the baby and into the food cart. Such a common trope to have a character followed by a mischevious baby.

Grizz is excited by the movie and doesn’t realize the movie star is freaking out. He is actually afraid of flying which shows he can’t possibly do his own flights. I’m sure Grizz isn’t too thrilled with this.

Panda is dealing with the baby, who is playing around like crazy. Poor Panda. He would be the only who could handle this of course.

The second captain takes a bite of pancake and begins choking.  Will Ice Bear have to save the day? The food cart breaks the door when the captain hits the steering wheel, breaking it. The movie star is freaking out and they are going to land soon.

Ice Bear takes things into his own hands and jumps up to fly the plane. Grizz helps his new friend and helps talk him down from his hiding spot. Throwing a bag of pretzels Panda saves the baby. Ice bear lands the plane and everything works out all right for our baby bears they even get their pancakes. Though they find out they aren’t in Sweden they are in Boise.

The Amazing World of Gumball S5 E5’The Vision’

Gumball and Darwin are in the locker room and Gumball is musing on his strengthening body. He takes out his gym bag and gets dressed only to realize it isn’t his bag. He’s dressing in a string and ends up dressing quite provactively.

They find a USB stick with a cheesy love poem and Gumball is sickened. As they look through his photos they find devilish things. He is planning to become the school president and wants to change himself.

He changes his face passing by faces of Trump and Dr.Egg man before landing on a scarred face. He then changes his voice to a sinsiter southern accent. I think it is a reference to Kevin Spacey’s character as honestly it sounds like Spacey.

There is going to be a tax on grapes and Gumball isn’t going to stand for it. Soon a riot starts. We soon are back in Gumball and Darwin’s room and find this isn’t actually happening, shameful just shameful.

Alan is now speaking with robotic arms to be more approachable. He starts hanging up propaganda posters. He wants to fix all sad people and send them to happy camps. If anyone strays from happiness they will be corrected. They mime different ways of offing someone, quite humorously.

Locking themselves in his locker they set off a bomb which hurts them. They sneak around the school trying to hunt him down. Gumball can’t pop him and when they confront him they have a laugh. Alan then begins a new manifesto and shows his evil side instantly being popped by Gumball. Who would have thought Alan the happy balloon was evil?

Regular Show: In Space S8 E11 ‘Can you Ear Me Now?’

Mordecai and Rigby go to the summertime planet and have a great time. They then head off with their new crew to complete some errands. When the duo yells their trademark OHHH their new robot friend tells them not to be so loud as the citizens are troubled by loud noises.

It turns out they are in fact ear people. Of course Mordecai and Rigby cause trouble and make a ruckus bringing them into court. I love that the prosecutor is a southern lawyer, such a humorous type of lawyer.

They call in their friends to be character witnesses. Of course the first person up is Benson and he lies saying they wouldn’t ever yell.  When he tells them he was a drummer his testimony is thrown out. Hilarious to think that drumming could be a sin.

Eileen says that she in fact dating Rigby. The prosecutor makes Eileen nervous and she yells, making her testimony invalid as well.

Many villains of the past appear in court and slam the duo. They quickly find the defendants guilty and give them life in prison.

They head over to see the Oracle and ask for a pardon. They end up knocking over the Oracle the biggest crime. Spraying the Oracle with their water gun, he can finally hear again. Though none of the photos were developed so the journey may have been in vain.

Loving this final season so far, hopefully it just keeps getting better!

Regular Show: In Space S8 E10 ‘Spacey McSpaceTree’

Mordecai and Rigby are blasting targets when Rigby decides to turn his gun up the max. He is too small to handle the power and blasts the Canadians. Rigby is banned from enjoying many things including the food trucks. If Rigby  learns enough from  Spacey McSpacetree then he can enjoy his fries.

Spacey is a master of safety and has to be around Rigby so he learns how to be safe. Spacey loves safety but is actually the unsafest being because he always causes more damage then he stops.

Rigby can’t sleep and is losing his mind. If he is safe then Spacey won’t appear. He forges a letter from Spacey so he can do the safety test. Rigby puts a double in the car that Mordecai is driving and when Spacey realizes he searches for him. Rigby completes the test and aims to put it int he computer when Spacey barges in.

Spacey breaks Rigby’s test and when he puts it in machine it attacks. Rigby tells Spacey off but when he is in danger Rigby saves him. If Rigby answers the rest of the questions then he will be done with the test and be safe.

Do to Spacey’s insanity Rigby is actually able to pass the test. Spacey may be unorthodox but he really had Rigby’s best interests at heart.Rigby passes his test and is given Spacey’s helmet. They have fries and end up causing a safety issue where Spacey heads back to cryosleep.

Just another good episode in this final season. Being to safe can certainly cause problems that is for sure.

You’re the Worst S3 E6 ‘The Last Sunday Funday’

Sunday Fundays are the greatest things created by You’re the Worst. I find it funny that in the show they have made Sunday Funday something that everyone is doing. So the worsties are going to have to stop doing this so they can feel cool.

Gretchen wants them all to go on a scavenger hunt to find a bar. Jimmy acts like he doesn’t want to help  them find the bar but clearly he does. The Scavenger hunt leads them to a library where they still manage to drink from a flask. Of course the whole idea is to have fun and drink.

Gretchen and the worsties head to see Gretchen’s clients. Her client knows ragtime which is a rather interesting thing. I honestly would have never pegged this character to be of help.  The next stop is the foot clinic where they try to find the next clue. They end up scaring a business man who drops his briefcase. When a phone rings Jimmy solves the next riddle and a key pops out.

Jimmy is really enjoying this quest even though he doesn’t want to admit it. Edgar high is so funny, as he has clearly never been high before. Opening the briefcase they find a picture of themselves taken at the library. On the back is a map which of course will lead them forward.

They call Paul for help and he tells them where they have to go, then joining them. Edgar is high and isn’t flinching at the explosions behind him when before they would have triggered him. He buys fireworks and they launch him in his direction so he can immerse himself. I love how much fun these characters have, it is clear this show is a blast to work on.

They find a qr code that when scanned leads them on another trek and end up at the wrong place. Gretchen and Lindsay fight while Paul watches. Jimmy tears them apart and goes to the house again, thinking they are actors. They are locked up for breaking into someone’s house.

When Paul sits on the toilet, he vanishes and Lindsay thinks she is witch. Jimmy sits and the wall turns letting them in, soon they find themselves in the speakeasy. The speakeasy is boring and the drinks are overpriced. Jimmy and Gretchen both wanted the other to be happy.

Lindsay tells Paul she wants to bed other guys for their marriage.  Jimmy sings at the bar, and has a good voice. Gretchen muses that this is definitely the last Sunday Funday. This episode was filled with good character development, a few sweet moments between characters, and a grand quest. Thoroughly enjoyed this episode and honestly will be sad if this really is the last Sunday Funday.

I am excited as always for the next episode,’The only thing that helps’

The ‘Survivor: Millennials Vs Gen-X’ Review – “Your Job Is Recon”

Well that was a bit of a Tease. All the build up for last weeks “Twist” only to be let down by a Survivor Submit, oh sorry, a #SurvivorSubmit.

I couldn’t have been the only one to predict a swap into Three Tribes – which may well happen some ways down the line – but dare I say, this was still really good.

With the Millennials having to send dimwitted Taylor (aka Tails), Figgy, Will and Jay to meet the representatives of Gen-X. It gave the ousted Trio of CeCe, Ken and David a chance to change their future in the game, while Paul creepily asked if their were any “boyfriends and girlfriends” going on at the youngsters camp.

*shudders*

survivor-millennials-vs-gen-x

Although my love for David is unwavering, admitting to a Blonde Lothario that you’d turn on your Tribe at the Merge perhaps maybe wasn’t the best move. Considering the plus for gaining numbers at that point is severely outweighed when you come to realise you at the bottom of the alliance.

Good for David for ‘Playing the game‘ but at this point I’m under no illusions that David can win however. Sticking with Ken means he will just be Stephened-out at the Final Tribal Council. But joining Tails and the Triforce doesn’t seem much smarter either.

Best outcome is anything that keeps him on my Tv screen the longest and Taylor doesn’t seem the best choice.

Survivor Millennials Vs Gen X

But what a coming out party for Ken. For a guy that barely poked his head above the canopy last week, this episode … you couldn’t shut him up.

For all the moments that our Model with a heart of gold had, there were plenty of times that he straddled the edge of arrogance. Lucky for him these were contrasted with Dodo shots of Paul saying his going to do something only to fail. Kinda like a more incompetent Rupert, which given Rupert is … well … Rupert. Thats saying something. So when you’re putting down a guy that stupidly tells Pink-Eye Jessica (how she shall forever be known) that should Bret, Chris and himself decide to go their own way he’d tell the girls “Good Luck“.

Ken really isn’t the asshole in that situation.

survivor-millenials-vs-gen-x

After disappearing last week I’m glad to see that Jessica gets the credit for Paul’s blindside here.

Sure she has this Legacy Advantage so even if she goes out early we have to see her nurture bonds with whomever she ‘wills’ it too (morbid much?). But Jessica is slowly proving that she is a real contender to go far. Astutely picking up on what Paul was unwittingly revealing (#FreudianSlip), she took the chance to get rid of a future turncoat knowing that David, Ken and CeCe would be more than happy to throw their votes on him.

Sure she runs the risk of pissing off her close allies of Bret and Chris. But I have more fair in her skills to placate the pair than what Millennial Hannah has.

Oh Hannah.

survivor-millenials-vs-gen-x

Lets be clear here. Hannah may have voted out my Winner pick Mari (still Salty) but it was absolutely the right decision. The problem is when the injured party tells you to go away, staying put and playing the victim – sorry Han but yeah you were – only further alienates both parties.

Judging by Adam‘s willingness to approach her later on in the episode, show that things were more than likely smoothed over by that point. I still can’t dislodge this unnerving feeling that the Triforce has Hannah, Will and Michaela on lockdown.

Damn … they so pretty.

Regular Show:In Space S8 E7 ‘The Dream Warrior’

Pops is having a dream he is hanging out with a bunny when he suddenly has a nightmare. He begins levitating the room like he did in a past episode.  They end up watching a Scooby Doo style show. Regular Show is certainly a show that loves homages to great things.

Pops is dreaming again and ends up in the show. Skips is playing the Daphne style character because obviously that is the most humorous way to go about it. The alien from his other nightmare is in this dream too asking where he lives again.

Benson decides to help him out next and introduces him to the man that helps him sleep. With his sick music he aims to help but Pops realizes this isn’t Sweet Dreams it is the alien. This alien just won’t back down.

Pops is dealing with a nightmare alien and has to stand up to it or it won’t leave. Skips decides to see if they all can mind meld and fight the monster together. They are soon asleep and ready to take on the alien. The alien soundly defeats all of them and is against Pops alone.

Pops stands up to the alien and is able to defeat him by harnessing his power. Soundly defeating him the nightmare alien is sent away on a cartoon style rocket. Pops goes back to his regular dream. Of course Pops dreams of cute things, because he really is a simple child like man.

Meanwhile the Nightmare alien known as Carl is meeting with his boss. His boss just happens to be an evil form of Pops. Looks like he will be the ultimate enemy for our heroes. I am excited to see what evil Pops has in store for our heroes.

M. Night Shyamalan making a comedy TV series

Well, hopefully this works out for him. M. Night Shyamalan, best known for making bad choices in movies with potential, is trying his hand in the comedy world.

Pairing up with Family Guy writer, Alex Carter, they are developing a TV show called Eleven Little Indians. The show will be aired this January 2017 and is supposed to be animated. “The show is about 3 branches of a large Indian family. One has achieved the American dream; another has just arrived in the U.S. wide-eyed. And the third has gone off the rails.” Now we know Mr. Shyamalan has a thing for placing unwanted “twists” in his movies or going south with story lines (almost like he rushed the ending,) but maybe this comedy thing might finally work for him. Maybe…..

He got his big splash in the film world with the only really good movie he ever made, Sixth sense. But never was able to bring back that “wow” factor since. He had so much potential in the movies he did create, the Last Air Bender and the Village… But just could not deliver. Yet I will go and say the move, Signs, was pretty good. He also had hands in a couple of TV series, Wayward Pines and the new Tales from the Crypt so it’s not his first rodeo for TV. I watched Wayward Pines and can say… Though I did like the first season… He should have stopped there and left it alone. But for Tales from the Crypt, I have yet to watch this, just because I don’t have much faith in him to do well on a show I loved to watch when I was younger. (No fair guessing my age peeps.)

Curious as to how well he does in the comedy aspect of TV. I may give the show a gander when it airs, just to see if he can bring it this time. (Hopefully he does) ^_^

American Horror Story: Roanoke “Chapter 4”

I’m back! Did you miss me? Before we get down and dirty with Chapter 4, a huge shout out and thank you to Thisonesmartgirl for taking the reins and reviewing last week’s episode while i was in the hospital, I really appreciate your help, you’re a star! Right, shall we take a look at where we left the Millers last week.

Roanoke “Chapter 3” Recap

While searching for Flora (Saniyya Sidney) Lee’s (Angela Bassett) ex-husband is found dead. Shelby (Sarah Paulson) suspects Lee and the security cameras show that she followed him out of the house during the night. The hillbilly family vanishes, leaving their two feral sons behind. A psychic by the name of Cricket (Leslie Jordan), claims he is able to locate Flora, and Lee folks out a hefty $25,000 in hopes that he can find her daughter. This isn’t the first time this has happened to Lee, however she is very reluctant to discuss the disappearance of her first daughter, that happened many years earlier. Cricket reveals the Priscilla is a dead 16th-century child, and their house and surrounding land are haunted by spirits led by the “The Butcher“, formerly Thomasyn White (Kathy Bates), the first lady of the Roanoke Colony. However, the colonists rebelled against Thomasyn in her husband’s absence and left her for dead. Thomasyn in desperation give her soul to a mysterious woman, and violently retook control of the colony, forcing them to relocate to the property, that the Millers now own. Matt (Cuba Gooding, Jr.) disappears and Shelby finds him copulating with the same mysterious woman, however, Matt doesn’t recall this event and as they argue the police arrive to arrest Lee, who were tipped off by Shelby.

Roanoke “Chapter 4”

Matt (Cuba Gooding, Jr.) and Shelby (Sarah Paulson) argue about his encounter with the mysterious horned woman, but he still doesn’t remember anything. Shelby prepares to shower when she is attacked by the pig man, who is able to materialise in different places around the house. The pig man chases Matt and Shelby around the house, slashing at them, then suddenly the pig man is struck from behind by Elias Cunningham (Denis O’Hare). When pig man gets back up Cunningham raises his hands and banishes the half man half pig with the word “Croatoan”. Shelby asks Elias what Croatoan is, and he describes it as a word of dark power, he tells them he has been the house’s guardian for years, but was unable to afford it before the Millers brought it at auction.

092116-american-horror-story-news

Elias shows the Millers his records of the historic owners of the house, including the Chen family in 1973. The Chen’s tried to protect themselves with folk magic, however, it was no match for the butcher and her group, who slaughtered them. The first to disappear was Edward Phillipe Mott, who built it in 1792. Matt sees the Jane sisters Miranda (Maya Rose Berko) and Bridget (Kristen Rakes) in the clippings, Elias details how the ghosts told him about the nurses’ sacrifice at the hands of The Butcher. In 1952, three hunters turned their guns on each other and blew themselves away, the history goes on and on, showing a distinct pattern of the same lunar cycle in October: the dying grass moon. This is when the deaths and disappearances are in the same 6 day period.

www-nerdcoremovement-comwp-contentuploadsahs-roanoke-chapter-4-croatoan-9f8908aef3a2723d5ba0751bd4dc5dd8b8e90ef9

Elias insists they need to leave since the cycle starts that night, but the Miller won’t leave until they find Flora. They set out to find Priscilla (Estelle Hermansen) in the woods (the dead girl who Flora played with), they encounter the horned woman again and Shelby gives chase. Shelby is quickly being surrounded by the dead previous occupants, she tries to banish them using the word “Croatoan” her effort is in vain. Elias pleads with Priscilla to release Flora when The Butcher’s pack arrives and Elias is shot to death by arrows, the Millers run for their lives back to the house, to find Cricket (Leslie Jordan) waiting.

bal-american-horror-story-roanoke-episode-4-recap-20161006

Cricket feels the Flora is still alive, but The Butcher is no longer willing to negotiate, and with the lunar season upon them, she is in a position of strength. Cricket is shaken after further parlay, this time with the horned woman named “Scathach(Lady Gaga). As a negotiation tactic, Cricket offers the horned women Matt for her pleasure. She takes Cricket back in time through memory, to the Lost Colony of Roanoke, a community whose bounty was dependent on human sacrifice. The colony objected to the sacrifices, and AmbroseThe Butchers son (Wes Bentley) led a rebellion. Under the guise of a special communion of repentance, The Butcher poisoned them all and stabbed her own son, killing the entire community and letting their souls to the land. The Butcher offered herself to Scathach, by killing her, the dark sacrament was now complete.

Cricket relays what he experienced to the Miller’s and leaves  for his hotel to get prepared for the night’s battle, hours later Cricket had still not returned and the Millers had both fallen asleep while waiting,  when Matt is woken by whispers, he follows them to the cellar. Matt finds Scathach waiting for him in a candlelit cellar – very romantic, Matt seems to be under some kind of spell and is unable to resist her advances and we learn, that Scathach was once, an English woman who crossed centuries before, and she became a new immortal, a fusion of pagan pantheons.

ahs-recap-s6-e6

The Butcher finds Flora and is going to sacrifice her in front of the Miller’s, but Priscilla distracts The Butcher and Flora are able to escape to Matt and Shelby.  The Butcher has another human she can sacrifice, her pack  brings Cricket out before her, he was captured when he chased after Flora on his way back to his hotel room. The Butcher proceeds to gut Cricket like a fish as the Millers watch on helplessly,  Ambrose then assists his mother as they disembowel Cricket, she then points to the Millers with her meat cleaver, as if to say your next…..
