Is It Time To Start The Fans? David Tennant Rumoured For Crystal Maze Revival

criv-pfwiaevq4k

The Sun are today claiming that The Crystal Maze will be returning to Channel 4 this autumn with David Tennant as host. The popular game show will be broadcast this October as a part of the channel’s charity telethon Stand Up To Cancer, with celebrities as the contestants.

A source told the Sun “Even two decades after it last aired, there are very few shows that have been as magical and action-packed as The Crystal Maze. It is still remembered extremely fondly today. Channel 4 are hoping to tap into that nostalgia and believe viewers will jump at the chance to finally take on the show’s adventurous challenges themselves.”

Channel 4 are reported to be open to a series if the celebrity special delivers strong ratings.

Personally, as much as I love Doctor Who and David Tennant as the 10th Doctor, I can’t help but think he seems a bit of an odd choice for host of The Crystal Maze. The Crystal Maze requires a presenter with a more eccentric personality; if they want a former incarnation of The Doctor to host then surely Matt Smith would be a better choice?

Still, I’d rather a David Tennant-fronted Crystal Maze than an Amanda Holden one. Thank God that rumour didn’t turn out to be true…

If David Tennant really is to host The Crystal Maze, then I hope he does it in character as the 10th Doctor. Imagine how fun it would be to see him tell an unfortunate contestant ‘I’m sorry, I’m so sorry. But you’re locked in the room…’ or yelling ‘START THE FANS-AH!’ at the Crystal Dome? Also: who wouldn’t want to see him speeding towards the Futuristic Zone with his long brown coat flapping behind him? Maybe they could even buy the rights to use Murray Gold‘s music track All The Strange, Strange Creatures that would often play when the 10th Doctor was running?

The Crystal Maze is currently open to the public in London as an interactive experience. Booking is open until Saturday 18th March 2017. Single tickets cost £50 on weekdays and £60 on weekends with an added booking fee of £2.50. Full team tickets will set you back £420, whilst an entire session comprising of tickets for four teams made up of 32 people can be bought for £1,680.00. There is also an added transaction fee of £1.00 per e-ticket. Each session in the Crystal Maze lasts approximately 90 minutes.

Karen Gillan Joins ‘Jumanji’ Sequel

karen-gillan.jpg

Karen Gillan has nabbed the female lead in the continuation of the ‘Jumanji’ series. She will star alongside Dwayne Johnson, Jack Black, Kevin Hart and Nick Jonas in the Jake Kasdan directed film being brought to us by Sony.

Gillan was the final piece to slot into place for the film, as filming is now scheduled to begin in Honolulu next month. Set to play Martha, this is the latest in a line of big roles for Gillan that includes Marvel’s ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’. Having starred in various smaller roles before a leading role in ‘Doctor Who’ kick-started her career, Gillan seems set to continue on her path to Hollywood domination.

Between myself, @kevinhart4real Jack Black and @NickJonas we've searched far and wide to find the one person to complete our #JUMANJI family. This isn't just any role, but in many ways the most important role of the movie. We had to find a girl. But not just any girl. A girl who has "Chutzpah". Guts, nerve and talent to stand her ground and hold her own against Nick's cool rockstar ways, Jack's relentless energy and genius, Kevin's masterful timing and skills and the big, brown, bald tattooed guy who just simply stands there and oooooozes smoldering, captivating, sizzling, can't take your eyes off this brilliant manly man.. never mind I got drunk on the ol' DJ kool aid again. Ladies and gentlemen, I'm proud to announce a girl who's playing the most important role in our movie – the talented, beautiful and down for a Scottish fight at any time, Ms @KarenGillanOfficial. And yes, this is the girl who is so bad ass she shaved her freaking head for Guardians of the Galaxy. We start production next month in Hawaii and as many of you already know, this isn't a remake or reboot, but a continuation of the awesome JUMANJI story we love. Jake "The Snake" Kasdan directing, Matt "OG" Tolmach producing. Yup, I give everyone nicknames. The adventure and fun continues… #JUMANJI #KarenGillan #RESPECT #GingerTough

Gillan is set to reprise her role of Nebula in ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2’ as well as costar alongside Ethan Hawke in ‘In A Valley of Violence’.

‘Jumanji’ is set to hit theatres July 28, 2017.

You’re The Worst Returns Tonight For Season 3 And Why It’s Worth A Watch

https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/7/73/You%27re_the_Worst_title_card.png

You’re the worst is the anti-romantic comedy, a story of love that is so twisted it’s quite real. Now, I have obviously been watching since the first episode as many others have. This show started out with a decent fan base that grew because of how real and vicious these characters are.

Jimmy and Gretchen are two of the worst people out there. Sure they both are good looking people and super smart but they are terrible. The pilot episode really puts it all out there, and sets you up for what the show is about. I immediately enjoyed the show, and not just because Gretchen is played by  the fiery red headed Aya Cash. The show drew me in and did not let me go, the characters are truly funny and quite unique. I feel I actually resonate quite well with Jimmy and not because we share the same name or that we are both writers.

This show came along and I realized that on some level I am the worst. That is okay, not everyone can be the best and I am okay with that. Though I also have a few narcissistic tendencies like Jimmy, I will accept my faults as Jimmy has actually grown during these last two seasons. Now I’m not saying he is perfect because he will probably never be, but he has made strides and so has Gretchen.

These characters are joined by a cast of characters including Gretchen’s now formerly married best friend Lindsay who just wants to have fun and Edgar Jimmy’s best friend and a survivor of war. These characters all have a lot of fun and are all growing and changing with every episode. I really do wonder where they will all be at the end of the third season.

Anyway, this show is spectacular and you should all watch it. With a kickass theme song that draws you in and a cast of characters worth getting to know this show deserves all the praise it gets. So do yourselves a favor and at least watch the first episode, see what it’s all about.

I cannot wait for tonight at 10:30 EST for the third season premiere, and will be covering it here! So, stay the worst my friends.

Doctor Who Spin-Off Class To Explore Consequences Of Whoniverse

Class cast

In an interview with Empire Magazine the general premise of Class has finally been revealed. Given that since casting news broke earlier this year no news about the show has been heard, this is an exciting moment for Whovians looking to fill that large void caused by the lack of a full season this year.

Created by Patrick Ness (Chaos Walking) and set in Coal Hill Academy, the show already has quit a bit of legacy surrounding it.

“Coal Hill has existed in Doctor Who since literally episode one. The Doctor’s granddaughter went there. So we thought, ‘All that time activity at the school, has that caused any problems? What do you know, it has!”

So it seems the Doctor’s fondness for the school has left it vulnerable to alien attack, with tears in space-time allowing all manner of creatures from across the universe to invade the school.

The article that further revealed the show is set to debut on BBC One and BBC Three sometime in October, also emphasised the importance of a diverse human group of characters.

“We’re not telling stories of the ‘chosen ones’. It’s happenstance that puts these people [at the centre of things]. What if your timing is just weird and things happen to you? How do you deal with it? I’m interested in real consequences. The Doctor is always exciting, but he never [stays]. He goes off on the next adventure. What happens to real people?”

Well with the premiere date possibly only a matter of weeks away, it shouldn’t be too long before we get to find out.

The Grimm Reaper Comes For Grimm, Grimm’s Final Season Announced

https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/d/d6/Grimm_Season_6_Poster.jpg/250px-Grimm_Season_6_Poster.jpg

Since 2011 Nick Burkhardt has been battling monsters, first they came from old stories and then they began to come from just about everywhere. It was interesting seeing what myths and stories were actually out there, because really nothing was off limits if they could make it work.

I have really enjoyed every episode of Grimm and I think the cast is spectacular. I love how the characters have evolved from the beginning of the show to now. So many twists and turns some inevitable and some so shocking my jaw literally dropped or I said “Oh, Damn”.

This show is something that I started watching when it began and immediately enjoyed even though I don’t usually watch cop shows. Of course that probably has to do with the intense fantasy element of the show. While, yes it is a cop show this fantasy component brings it to the next level and makes it really something worth watching.

I am sad to see this show go, but I’m also so excited to see it end. There are some burning questions I and other fans of the show could have. If you have not seen it I’d say check it out. It really is a good show and I’m sure many people could find at least one thing that makes it worth watching.

I for one can’t wait for January 6th of 2017 for Grimm’s final season, when I can say, “Thank Grimm it’s Friday” once more.

Pretty Little Liars Is Ending

There’s no mistake in that title. Freeform’s Pretty Little Liars is coming to an end. Karey Burke, executive vice president of programming and development at Freeform, said in an interview that ending the show after the seventh season was always the official game plan.

The cast of Pretty Little Liars with it’s creator Marlene King

Marlene King (creator of PLL) joined stars Troian Bellisario, Ashley Benson, Lucy Hale, Shay Mitchell and Sasha Pieterse to announce the news on August 29th; video below.

The second half of Season 7 will start April 2017, ending with an epic two hour season finale.

What do you think liars? Are you happy the show is finally ending? Sad to see it go? Personally, I stopped watching a few years ago because I found it to be dragging on and on. Share, comment and like below, or tweet me @SohoDoll. Until next time, “DON’T SAY I NEVER GAVE YOU ANYTHING.” –A

Fear The Walking Dead SN2 EP9- ‘Los Muertos’

The stakes are higher than ever before as the whole group faces immediate danger.

fear-the-walking-dead-episode-210-alicia-debnam-carey-935

One of the main problems of ‘Fear The Walking Dead’ so far is that the characters have rarely felt like they’re in danger. Given this is a show set during the apocalypse, that’s a bit of a problem. Sure there have been flashes of danger, such as when the Abigail was attacked, however there’s never been a defining moment that says to the audience: ‘These people are truly fighting to survive’.

Cue, Los Muertos.

This episode was all about building the tension until the climactic finale, that saw just about every character facing an immediate threat. This was clearer with Strand’s group. Having returned to the Abigail only to find it gone, the group heads toward a nearby, unbeknownst to them, walker infested hotel. It was fun to see the shifting dynamics at play here. After almost getting the group killed on the Abigail, Alicia begins to step up and take charge. Before now her character had never really been defined. Like Nick she seemed lost in this world, yet her actions ultimately caused harm to those around her. Therefore, to see her start to lead the group; becoming the Rick like voice of hope, pushing the group forward, is an interesting and all together brilliant decision for a character that often felt like she was just there for the sake of it.

With Alicia the voice of hope and reason, it was only fitting that Maddison and Ofelia were harbingers of doom. Maddison’s propensity to cling to her children has mostly been a point of annoyance on the show. It’s easy to forget that Alicia is supposed to be about 17, with Nick not much older, yet Maddison’s cloying nature has always been at a detriment to the character. It’s certainly fun to see her parental instincts flare when it comes to protecting her children, as she turns into a woman you would not ever want to cross, but watching her mope about Nick when she has another child who always seems to play second fiddle to him, is counteractive to the strong, protective character the writers have built her up to be.

As for Ofelia, this was probably the most the character has had to do all season. Having gone from mourning the loss of her mother to now mourning the loss of her father, Ofelia feels truly alone in the world, despite Alicia’s assurance that they’re all family now. Through everything she says and does in the episode it’s clear she’s suicidal, however this fails to have the emotional impact it should. Because Ofelia has been so closed off due to the fates of her parents, we haven’t had much of a chance to really get to know her. This seems to be something the writers picked up on too, as we were given some details of her past. Any regular viewer of ‘The Walking Dead’ knows that when we get to know more about a character they’re usually heading for the chopping block, and given Ofelia’s current suicidal nature it certainly seems as if we’re heading that way, but I worry any decision regarding the character won’t have the emotional resonance it should.

Surprisingly Nick’s story was also continued this episode. Like all sanctuaries in ‘The Walking Dead’ series, Nick’s Tijuana camp held a dark secret. However, unlike all the other sanctuaries in ‘The Walking Dead’ series, these guys were completely upfront about it. It seems Nick has managed to stumble onto yet another camp using their faith to survive. Faith and religion have been big themes throughout this season, and it doesn’t look like that’s going to change. We got a drunken speech from Maddison stating how lost Nick has been all his life, and in an effort to fill this void he’s clinging to the words of another group of religious fanatics, even though it’s he knows their view on Walkers could ultimately lead to their destruction.

Of course now that the group’s split there was a lot to cover this episode, so other highlights include:

  • In managing to talk his way out of getting his hand chopped off, coupled with last week’s episode, Nick has proved he is the ultimate survivor. It’s just a shame then that he keeps getting caught up with all these crazy people.
  • So was Alejandro the Pharmacist actually bit? Is it faked so as to allow him more control over his people? Or have we just found someone immune to the disease? Whatever the answer, some really interesting storylines could spring from this.
  • The visuals of Walkers flinging themselves off balconies to get closer to the ruckus Strand and Maddison were making was brilliant. ‘The Walking Dead’ always finds a way to make Walkers a threat, and this was one of the best.

So ‘Fear The Walking Dead’ was once again on form this week, as it offered a tense episode with a huge cliff-hanger. With Maddison, Strand, Alicia and Ofelia facing death by Walker, and Nick once again falling victim to a group of fanatics, each character is facing a desperate situation. All this is before we’ve even seen what Chris and Travis are up to. So with the group splintered more than ever before, and the threat level rising, it seems ‘Fear The Walking Dead’ might have just become the quality show we were all hoping it would be from the start.

‘Life Depends On Change And Renewal’ – Power Of The Daleks To Be Animated?

power-daleks-animated-animation-9

The Mirror are reporting today that the 1966 Doctor Who serial Power of the Daleks is to be animated. BBC Worldwide has commissioned a company to animate all six episodes; the identity of the company in question is as yet unknown. Power of the Daleks stars Patrick Troughton as The DoctorMichael Craze as Ben Jackson and Anneke Wills as Polly Wright. The serial was Patrick Troughton’s first story as the Doctor, after William Hartnell’s regeneration in the 1966 serial The Tenth Planet (which also saw the first appearance of the Cybermen).

Whilst all six episodes of Power of the Daleks are currently missing, a few clips of the serial have survived alongside an audio recording of the serial:

Recently there was also an animation test for Power of the Daleks uploaded to YouTube that claimed to be leaked footage taken from the BBC. The video was subsequently removed and one YouTuber attempted a test to determine the reason for the removal:

Although the video claims it proof that Power of the Daleks will be released on DVD, it is worth noting that the BBC’s recent animation of a lost Dad’s Army episode was made for the BBC Store and is yet to receive a DVD release. It is possible that Power of the Daleks would be released in the same way in order to entice more customers to purchase from the BBC’s store.

Power of the Daleks was released as a BBC Radio Collection CD in 2004 and can be bought in the form of a digital download for £10.50 on Amazon.

Supernatural: Is Adam Still in Hell?

winchester brothers

In every family there are topics that are guaranteed to start an argument.  For instance, in my family “The Facebook Incident of ’11” is never to be brought up unless someone wants to be hit with a chair at the dinner table in the middle of Thanksgiving Dinner… it’s the reason that I’m STILL not friends with certain members of my family on Facebook (it’s just better that way because unfortunately it IS my circus and they ARE my monkeys).   In the SPN Family, one of those topics is …. Adam in the Cage.

It’s one of those plot threads that you can pick at and pick at until the whole rug falls apart… if ya want.

And I do want… and I’m sort of in the mood to see some furniture fly.

For those way in the back… There’s a third Winchester brother.  His name is Adam Milligan.  Sam and Dean find out about their half brother Adam in episode 4.19 Jump the Shark.  Later, Adam becomes the vessel for the archangel Michael who ends up in The Cage with Lucifer.

cheers to Adam

The general consensus in The Famdom is that Adam is still in The Cage.  But, I don’t think so.  In episode 10.9 The Things We Left Behind, Castiel tells Claire Novak that her father Jimmy no longer occupies that body with him.  He tells her (and the viewers) that when a vessel is damaged beyond repair that the soul of the original occupant goes to Heaven.  So basically, being an angel’s vessel is a free ticket to Heaven.  Now, what he’s telling her is that in episode 5.22 Swan Song when Lucifer snaps his fingers and blows Castiel to smithereens Jimmy went to Heaven.  And, in case you’ve forgotten, Lucifer snapped his fingers and blew up Cas right after the famous line “Hey Assbutt!” when he threw a holy oil Molotov cocktail at Michael (in Adam’s body) thereby burning the vessel beyond repair.

adam

And, if that’s not enough proof for you… When Dean arrives at Stull Cemetery to be there with Sam when Lucifer (in Sam’s body) takes on Michael in the grudge match to end all grudge matches and end the world, Michael tells Dean “Adam’s not home right now”.  Now, I say that even if the Adam vessel wasn’t destroyed beyond repair, he wasn’t in there with Michael… therefore, he didn’t fall into The Cage with Michael, Lucifer and Sam.

Now, the majority of my fellow addicts say that Adam is still in The Cage.  The Show even sort of pokes fun at that in episode 10.5 Fan Fiction.  When “Adam” joins the Winchester Brothers’ family on the stage for a rendition of Carry On My Wayward Son, Sam and Dean ask “Who’s that?”

fan fiction

So, which side are you on?  Adam in the Cage or Adam in Heaven?  Leave me a comment… just don’t throw any furniture.

Ben Affleck Teases Deathstroke For The DCCU

Today on Twitter, Ben Affleck promptly set off DC fans as he shared what appears to be test footage of the villain Deathstroke.

Deathstroke ComicsResize

Deathstroke (Slade Wilson) is a villain who first appeared in The New Teen Titans – originally an archenemy of the Teen Titans, writers over the years have developed the mercenary to become an enemy of other heroes in the DC Universe. Wizard magazine rated him the 24th greatest villain of all time, and in 2009, Deathstroke was ranked as IGN‘s 32nd greatest comic book villain of all time. Having made an appearence in the Batman video game Batman: Arkham Origins, and played a major villain in the DC TV series Arrow.

Thus, the knowledge that Deathstroke will be making another appearance, this time in the DC Cinematic Universe, has got fans all over Twitter frantically talking about the video that Ben Afleck tweeted this afternoon.

The footage has been filmed on his phone, and is silent footage taken from the movie cameras. The brief video shows Deathstroke walking up to the camera and turning his head side to side, showing off his armour and the iconic black and orange helmet.

As the video has no sound and no further commentary from Affleck, and Warner Bros. have been very quiet so far, fans are left questioning what the release of this footage means and where this footage fits in. But it’s safe to say the world is very ready for Deathstroke on the big screen.
