We Review Vampire Diaries SN8 EP7 – ‘The Next Time I Hurt Somebody, It Could Be You’

vamp-diaries-hurt-someone

Let me start by saying that I’m really tired of this Damon.  I liked the Damon that tried to be a hero … tried to do the right thing even if he screwed it all up, he at least had good intentions.  That Damon was like me and all the others that try to do the right thing even if there’s an epic fail waiting for them.  At the beginning of the season, you could still see our Damon in there, even if his humanity switch was in the off position.  When he would tell someone, “I really don’t want to kill you,” or even “I was rooting for you, I really was,” you just knew our Damon was still in there.  This Damon?  Nope.  I don’t like him so much.

Oh, and he’s totally confusing too.  When Enzo had the tuning fork and had Sybil right where we all wanted her, Damon saved her… but then he ripped her heart out.  Sadly, she’s still alive though… and what’s up with that?  I thought for sure that Caroline’s gift made him flip his switch back on, but judging from that ending … guess not.  But, I’m keeping my fingers crossed.

I loved Caroline in this episode though!  Buddy’ing all up to Sybil … passing out gifts and eggnog (that she didn’t have time to poison).  She was the perfect hostess even when things weren’t going exactly the way she wanted them to go.

We learned some interesting things about Stefan in this episode too.  Well, and he learned them as well.  The Ripper of Monterrey killed a whole village on Christmas Eve!  Seline altered his memory so he wouldn’t know it was Christmas and be able to think he deserved to have a life.  At the end of the executive meeting with the CEO of Hell (Cade), Stefan made the deal to flip his humanity switch and kill for Cade for ONE year, but then he gets his life back.  Now, I’m not sure that’s the same deal Damon’s getting, but we’ll see.  Props to Paul Wesley though, because you could see it on his face … the exact moment that Stefan flipped his switch.  I’m sure the fire in his eyes was just a special effect though … but the expression was all Paul.

Let’s get back to the tuning fork weapon for a second.  When Enzo tried to use it on Sybil, Bonnie felt it too.  So, it’s been decided that it also effects witches since it hurt Ric and Caroline’s twins as well.  I’m hoping that since it effected Bonnie she’s getting her magic back… because really, that’s the only way this can end happy.  We need Bonnie Badass back to take on Cade and the Sirens.

Seline appears to be trying to be good and make amends.  So am I the only one thinking that Sybil lied when she said she was the good sister?

As a mid-season finale, this was a great episode… but it made me sad to realize that when the show comes back on January 13th it will be for the last time … for the last nine episodes.  Oh, and in case you were wondering the title comes from a line that Stefan said to Elena in the first season.

Here’s a sneak peek at the new episode coming in January….

Doctor Who: The Rescue; William Hartnell years

Welcome Back!!

When we last left the heroes, poor Ian was holding on for dear life at the edge of the cave, while the scared Sow holds on to the rope crying out for help!

“OOOOOOEEEEEEOOOOOOO”

Ian’s fingers slipping from the rocks, just before he looses grip another Sow grabs Ian just before he falls too. As they struggle to hold on, they realize they can’t do this alone. Then the scared Sow hanging from the rope below cuts the line and falls do his death. Ian and the other Sow at the top are in shock.

Back in the City, the Doctor and Susan are arguing with the Dalek’s about their reasoning to destroy the Sows. “We wish to escape captivity, go out and rebuild Scarrow.” States the Dalek. The Doctor is mortified at the response of the Daleks. He can’t believe they would kill the race of the Sows.

The heroes back in the cave realize that there is no way out. The Sows are feeling hopeless at this point. Ian tries to push them further but the Sows are reluctant and feel they should have listened to the scared Sow who lost his life. Then Ian realizes that there is light coming into the cave. He follows the source to a small opening. He pulls away a couple of loose rocks and finds they have made it to the City. (The image that flashes on the screen at this moment looks like a drawing) Ian is excited they have made their way through.

Back in the swamp, Aladon believes the Doctor and Susan may have been captured. He encourages the others that now is the time to fight.

The Daleks are getting ready to distribute the radiation. The Doctor then decides to try one last reasoning chip, he throws in the TARDIS. He informs the Daleks that his ship has the ability to break the space-time barrier. “You are not capable to create such technology.” States the Dalek. The Doctor continues on to prove that he owns such a machine. His example being the piece of the ship that was taken from Ian by the Daleks earlier. The Dalek is interested, but decides that after they bomb the city, they will go and find the TARDIS without the Doctor and use it as well. Another Dalek chimes in, “Movement has been detected inside the city walls.” The Dalek decides to start an alert.

Susan and the Doctor are relieved.

Ian, Barbara and the Sows slowly make their way through the corridors of the city, when they almost run into a Dalek. They hide back until the Dalek passes then continue on.

The Daleks in the control room where the doctor and Susan are now are monitoring the other heroes as they sneak through the halls, but then Ian sees the camera and breaks it so they can no longer we spied on. The Daleks are not concerned with the intruders since the final stages of the operation are just about complete.

Ian and the others continue their way, when they run into Aladon! Ian informs Aladon that the Daleks know of their presents in the city. They can hear the calls over the intercom alerting the other Daleks to the intruders. The doors behind them and in front are being seeled off! Just before the second door closes Ian is able to stop it. Barbara tries to slip through the opening.

The Daleks realize the door is being jammed and try to increase the power in hopes to close the Heroes in.

Barbara is trapped under the metal door now; the others rush over trying to help Ian to keep the door from cutting her in two. Thankfully they are able to stop the door from crushing her and she slips out. Aladon slips out behind her.

Back at the controls, the Daleks are counting down the time till the neutron bomb drops, which is in about 37 seconds.

The heroes struggle with the door still, but are getting the others out from the trap. Aladon is on the other side helping to hold it open until they are all free.

Back in the control room, the Daleks continue their countdown. “27, 26, 25…” The Doctor and Susan look as if all hope is lost. Then in the distance, Ian and the others have found their way to the control room. They sneak past the other Dalek’s undetected and make it to the Doctor and Susan. Barbara throws a rock from the hallway at a Dalek to distract them from Ian and the others. This alerts the Dalek and he makes chase after her. As he follows down the hall, Susan and another Sow jump him. They are now fighting the Daleks, (this part was hard to figure out what was going on here. The effect of the heroes being shot was the whole screening looking disoriented in black and white.) The heroes were victorious against the Daleks. “We must go quickly before they leak the radiation into the air.” States the Doctor to Ian. “We cut the source to their power! LOOK!” Exclaims Ian as he pushes a Dalek with his foot and the creature/machine slides away, unable to control its hardware anymore. The Doctor watches and realizes the bomb is of no threat anymore. Aladon realizes that the war is finished. “500 years are now at end.” The heroes leave the city, beaten and victorious. Yet the Sows don’t feel that this was a victory….

Back in the forest, there is a big metal wire thing that one of the Sows is examining. “This is what they call a compensator my friend.” States the Doctor to the Sow as he approaches. “Which is?” asks the Sow, “The hole of it, get rid of it, its useless.” Continues the Doctor. “We don’t really know where you come from…” States the Sow. “You are able to build a whole new world…” The Doctor goes on, ignoring the statement of the Sow. The Sow insists that the Doctor and the others stay and help rebuild, but the Doctor declines. He then gives some ideas on how they can rebuild. “Who knows, I may come visit your grandchildren and see what they have discovered.” Susan joins the others with a cloak on her shoulders. She is happy with the gift given from Aladon. The heroes say their goodbyes and make their way into the ship. Barbara is the last to go in. It seems that one of the Sows has grown sweet on her, and kisses her good bye. Once Barbara is in the ship, the doors close and the ship disappears.

The Heroes are now happy to make the journey home, but suddenly there is a loud bang, the heroes fall and the ship goes dark…..

John Cena Stars In The Trailer For The Wall.

The-Wall-Movie-Image-1068x691.jpg

It’s no secret that John Cena‘s films haven’t been well received. Neither have they been commercially successful either. But that might just change. Why? Well the answer is two words-Doug Liman. Whatever the man touches turns into gold. He’s directed critically acclaimed films like The Bourne Identity(which launched the Jason Bourne Franchise for Universal) and Edge of Tomorrow. He was recently confirmed to be directing Justice League Dark for Warner Bros. and DC. His next film, The Wall, stars John Cena and Aaron Taylor Johnson and from the looks of it, it might be an epic thriller. If the film is a success it might turn John Cena’s acting career for the better.

Take a look at the trailer below.

Here’s the synopsis:

The Wall” follows two soldiers pinned down by an Iraqi sniper, with nothing but a crumbling wall between them. Their fight becomes as much a battle of will and wits as it is of lethally accurate marksmanship.  Directed by Doug Liman (Mr. & Mrs. Smith, “The Bourne Ultimatum,” “Edge of Tomorrow”), “The Wall” stars Aaron Taylor Johnson (“Nocturnal Animals,” Kick-Ass,” “Savages” “Godzilla,” “Avengers: Age of Ultron”) and WWE star John Cena (“Trainwreck,” “Daddy’s Home”), Written by first-time screenwriter Dwain Worrell, “The Wall,” was produced by Amazon Studios, Big Indie Pictures and Picrow. The film is produced by David Bartis. Executive Producer is Ray Angelic. Associate Producer is Alison Winter. FilmNation is handling international sales.

Spider-Man Homecoming First Trailer Is Here.

spiderman-homecoming-dark-closeup.jpg

Sony and Marvel Studios have unveiled the first trailer for the upcoming reboot of arguably the most beloved Marvel character, Spider Man. Homecoming is the first movie in a planned trilogy which is a joint-production by Sony and Marvel. Spider Man played by Tom Holland made his debut on this year’s Marvel’s Captain America Civil War, in which his performance was regarded by many as the “scene-stealer.” Apart from his athleticism, Tom Holland has the wit that someone who plays the friendly neighbourhood superhero should have.

I am stoked to see what Marvel and Sony come up with for the film, though I am a bit worried about the movie being over-bloated by too many characters which we’ve been hearing about their casting of the past few months. It also doesn’t help that the last Spider Man film suffered from such. But what Marvel was able to do with Civil War kinda puts my fears at ease.

Take a look at the trailer below followed by the film’s synopsis.

Here’s the film synopsis:

A young Peter Parker/Spider-Man (Tom Holland), who made his sensational debut in Captain America: Civil War, begins to navigate his newfound identity as the web-slinging super hero in Spider-Man: Homecoming.  Thrilled by his experience with the Avengers, Peter returns home, where he lives with his Aunt May (Marisa Tomei), under the watchful eye of his new mentor Tony Stark (Robert Downey, Jr.). Peter tries to fall back into his normal daily routine – distracted by thoughts of proving himself to be more than just your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man – but when the Vulture (Michael Keaton) emerges as a new villain, everything that Peter holds most important will be threatened.

Regular Show In Space S8 E23 ‘No Train No Gain’

Evil Pops has just gotten Noodles and he can’t find Pops or humorously the special sauce for his noodles. Anti Pops is vicious and powerful stronger than a five star rating system.

Pops is such a weak man because he is so childlike. He doesn’t want to do much of anything to destroy things. The sensei wants to do a training montage to train Pops.

Pops fails miserably at all tasks put before him, is he really the hero the universe needs? The montage technique eventually works and he does get stronger naturally. But the song for the montage begins to wear on the gang.

How could anyone listen to such a song over and over. Mordecai and Right change the song and pops grows stronger far quicker. Soon enough  though Mordecai and Rigby  get stuck in the montage and need to stop the music within it.

Pop’s power is soon uncontrollable and that could spell the end of the park. Quite humorous when they are thrown into the void and all film effects are added. I enjoy how many interesting ideas flow through this show it really is anything but regular.

In the void they have no idea where the boom box is but soon Benson is able to press the button.Pops is ready for whatever Anti-Pops is going to throw at him. I can’t wait to see Pops face Anti-Pops!

A fantastic episode filled with fourth wall breaking in regard to how montages are filmed. Just a solid story in this final season. It is good to see Pops become this legendary hero when he has been so weak this whole time.

Gotham S3 E10 Time Bomb

Lee and Mario are having dinner at the place that will be their rehearsal dinner space. They talk about Barnes and that there is a cure for the disease in the works. As they head outside and their car is pulled around it explodes. I wonder who is out to kill these two?

Jim promises Falcone he will find the man who did this and is given a day. Of course Jim is prideful and thinks he can do this.

Penguin is having a meeting of the five families asking for more protection money. Babsy comes in guns blazing looking for Tabitha and Butch. He scares her off and tells her of she does anything like this again her brains will be cleaned up by his cleaning lady.

Riddler has Tabitha and Butch trapped because he thinks Butch killed Isabella. He really doesn’t know because Penguin did it but he is electrocuted by Riddler all the same. I really enjoy the changes Butch is going through in this show, gaining and losing power all the time.

They have found that the time bomb was super powerful because an explosive expert named Fuse probably set it. The true target is of course Mario whose death would hurt Falcone worst.

Bruce and Cat are eating breakfast and looking at the key they found.Bruce is really troubled by the key and Cat not saying they were a couple. Ivy uses pheromones to get Alfred to tell her how to turn off the alarms. Enjoying Ivy’s decent into her true evil self.

Gordon has a talk with Mario and heads out to find the man responsible. Babsy goes to find information from Penguin’s cleaning lady. She finds out Penguin’s feelings for the Riddler.

Nygma wants to break Butch’s heart before he kills him so he will cut off her hand. Selina uses a common mixture to clean the key.The court of owls symbol is seen on the key. Soon they didn’t Ivy has been kidnapped, by the man she stole from.

The trio head to find Ivy. Bruce finds the man works against the court because they betrayed them. The man turns out to lead the Whisper Gang. Bruce wants to team up to find the safe the key unlocks.

Gordon talks to Falcons thinking Mario is mixed up in something. Mario has headed off to finish the job. Mario shows his true colors when the men come to attack him.

Babsy finds where Nygma has taken her friends. Nygma is jazzed to cut off Tabitha’s hand. Nygma offers a deal, of Tabitha will let her hand get cut off then he will free them both. Tabitha let’s her hand get cut off as Nygma realizes Butch didn’t kill Isabella. When Nygma finds Penguin killed Isabella I’m sure he’s going to descend even deeper into madness.

Babsy comes in and finds Nygma who leaves quickly. Mario tells Lee about what is happening. Falcone takes things into his own hands when he cuts a tooth from the man’s mouth.

Gordon vows to find who did it, not knowing it is the Court of Owls. The Whisper Gang is killed in a spectacular fashion facing Talon.

Babsy takes Tabitha in to stitch her hand back on. Babsy knows who offed Isabella, the only other who loves Nygma.

Falcone talks to the vicious white haired woman in the Court of Owls who has interacted with Bruce and Penguin. He is sent away with his tail between his legs. A sad event for such a strong character, I can’t wait until the Court is brought down.

Lee goes to Gordon and makes him tell what he has to. She kisses him and says goodbye one last time. Mario sees her walking out of Gordon’s house. He is infected with Alice Tech’s blood!

I really thought this was a solid episode because it showed the true power of the Court and finally seems to have tied up the Lee and Jim arc. Curious what Mario could do in the future that is for sure, we shall see.

Family Guy S15 E 7 ‘High School English’

Peter is locked in a library after crashing into a rich guys house. So he ends up reading classics to us all. I do enjoy when they adapt famous stories as they often do it in a way that highlights how vicious these stories are.

First up we start with the Great Gatsby starring Stewie as Nick Caraway. He travels over to Gatsby’s house played by Brian. Stewie of course pokes holes in the story. There are many points in the story that don’t make so much sense but clearly this is still a classic.

Daisy played by Lois is lead by Gatsby to his mansion. They all continue to poke holes in the story. I really enjoy this story so seeing a humorous take on it is great in my book.

Peter evades the cops and begins telling Huckleberry Finn. Peter is Huckleberry Finn and Chris is Tom Sawyer. Stewie is the Dad and Lois is the Widow Douglas.

Tom kills off Brian who is a pig and runs from his Dad. Of course Jim is played by Cleveland. They travel and evade their foes before going to see a Rush concert because Rush penned a song about Tom Sawyer.

Peter has guns pointed at him as Of Mice and Men begins. Stewie and Chris are George and Lenny. They go to ask for work and meet Slim played by Peter. Quagmire plays Curly and Meg plays his wife. Of course Meg plays the character that is brutally killed.

Crushing his hand Curly vows revenge at Lenny. Lenny kills off Curly wife as George sings at a gay bar. He heads down to the river to kill Lenny a really solid adaption of this novel even if it was more humorous. Stewie wishes luck on all kids doing book reports. I sincerely hope no child was doing a book report with the help of Family Guy.

Bob’s Burgers S7E6 ‘The Quirkdancers’

Its time for the annual Thanksgiving episode. Bob’s love of Thanksgiving is a great part of the series. Tina tells about her troubles in school and her new story inspired by it. Of course Tina’s story really isn’t clean as this girl has rather nasty thoughts.

The Belcher kids are troubled by seeing a terrible play at school. They decide to turn Tina’s Thanksgiving story into a play as it will be so offensive. They talk their guidance counselor into letting them put on their play.

The Belcher kids put up auditions to find the worst. Tina is going to be the lead and Louise assures her they won’t get far in anyway.

Linda finds a strange potato that looks like her grandfather and it disturbs Bob. I mean it makes sense as Linda often goes off the rails with her ideas.

The kids work to put on the worst show do they can get a half day. They plan to fill the Turkey heads with Gizzards and giblets and sending them over the stage. Tina finds out but when everyone is excited for a real half day Tina concedes and they set the plan into motion. Bob brings the potato for Linda and they watch the play.

The play does decently as Louise sets the plan into motion. The Giblets and Gizzards fly out over everyone. It’s far more horrific then Louise would have imagined. How could it not be, when everyone in the room is covered in turkey guts?

Tina sings a song and ends up saving the day. Louise and Gene realize they aren’t getting a half day. Well they really got what they deserved for covering the room in guts. Of course their punishment would to clean it up, though I think they were okay with it.

They sing the numbers from the play but they actually do it right. I really enjoy that the credits are accompanied by the song from the episode its a signature Bob’s Burgers thing. This episode was a solid Thanksgiving episode with a good part for Tina to play. She certainly said some inspiring things that make her character that much more real in my eyes.
