San Diego Comic Con 2016 Funko Pop Exclusives! Wave 9

mainaaaa.png

Let’s face it, everyone loves Funko Pops, they are this generations version of the Beanie Babies. They are cute, collectible and there seems to be no end to them. I started collecting them for Skatronixxx Jr but stopped after realising that I’d never be able to collect them all. Would I still continue collecting them? Sure if I had the money, but alas I have temporarily put my Funko Pop collection on hold, it doesn’t mean I can’t enjoy looking at them though!

There are however hardcore Funko fans out there and  the company knows this, that’s why they are aiming to bombard those lucky people who are going to San Diego Comic Con or SDCC with at least nine waves of exclusive figures.

What’s more having the ‘Funko Limited Edition 2016 Comic Con‘ sticker is a prize possesion for any serious collector and a cool trinket for the causal fan.

The CW Reveals First Look At Wally West As Kid Flash

slack-imgscom-189869After the last act of the season two finale, fans of the The Flash series have been eager to get even the tiniest bits of information as to how the show is gonna progress in season 3. To recap, Barry faced with grief of his father’s death, made a  decision to time travel to the past to save his mother. His mission was a success, preventing the Reverse Flash from murdering his mother once again. In doing so, he possibly disrupted the timeline and  that will have major repercussions, which we are all waiting for . It was recently confirmed that season 3 will indeed feature one of the most iconic storylines in the DC universe; Flashpoint.

Today The CW released an official first look at Wally West suited up as Kid Flash played by Keiynan Lonsdale.  There are no details yet as to how Wally West becomes Kid Flash, but my guess is, it has something to do with Flashpoint. It’s gonna be a long wait for season 3. In the meantime, you can go back and binge season 1 and season 2, which are awesome by the way. For now, just enjoy viewing the awesome images below.

Wonder Woman Synopsis Released, Writers Revealed.

wonder-woman-movie-2017-gal-gadot-images.jpg

Along with announcing their plans for Comic Con 2016, Warner Bros. has issued a press release which includes the synopsis of Wonder Woman. It was also revealed that Geoff Johns and Allan Heinberg co-wrote the script, based on a story by Heinberg and Zack Snyder. Zack Snyder’s inclusion in the movie should come as no surprise since he’s the one who introduced Wonder Woman for the first time in the silver screen in his epic, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. It’s apparent that Geoff Johns, who was recently promoted as the co-head of DC films, will be more hands on with the DC movie Universe, as evidenced by him co-writing Wonder Woman. Apart from Justice League, this is probably my most anticipated DC Extended Universe film. Whether it’s any good, we’ll see when the movie hits theaters some time next summer. Meanwhile, you can check the press release below.

Wonder Woman” hits movie theaters around the world next summer when Gal Gadot returns as the title character in the epic action adventure from director Patty Jenkins. Before she was Wonder Woman, she was Diana, princess of the Amazons, trained to be an unconquerable warrior. Raised on a sheltered island paradise, when an American pilot crashes on their shores and tells of a massive conflict raging in the outside world, Diana leaves her home, convinced she can stop the threat. Fighting alongside man in a war to end all wars, Diana will discover her full powers…and her true destiny.

Joining Gadot in the international cast are Chris Pine, Connie Nielsen, Robin Wright, David Thewlis, Danny Huston, Elena Anaya, Ewen Bremner and Saïd Taghmaoui. Jenkins directs the film from a screenplay by Allan Heinberg and Geoff Johns, story by Zack Snyder & Allan Heinberg, based on characters from DC Entertainment. Wonder Woman was created by William Moulton Marston. The film is produced by Charles Roven, Zack Snyder, Deborah Snyder and Richard Suckle, with Rebecca Roven, Stephen Jones, Wesley Coller and Geoff Johns serving as executive producers. Warner Bros. Pictures presents, in association with RatPac-Dune Entertainment, an Atlas Entertainment/Cruel and Unusual production, “Wonder Woman.” The film is scheduled for release on June 2, 2017, and will be distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company. www.wonderwomanfilm.com

Tarantino Talks Retirement

Levon-Biss_Quentin-Tarantino_071212-2894_V1_square_md

Quentin Tarantino is one of the most influential directors since the 90’s. However, recently, it sounds Tarantino may be winding down his career. The man has said that he will direct 10 films and then retire. Hateful 8 was in fact his eighth film, so if he’s good to his word, the man only has two more films left in him.

What does Tarantino’s retirement mean? Quentin Tarantino is a director who does not tackle projects in vein. While some directors seem to crank out a new film every year (at least it feels that way), QT is a man who doesn’t mind pacing himself a little. There was a six year gap between Jackie Brown and Kill Bill, with three year gaps often occurring between films. Tarantino takes his time with filming movies that he actually emphasizes the number of films in the marketing. Hateful Eight was sold as the Eighth film he’s directed. Imagine the pressure if a film were in fact marketed as the final film of Tarantino.

In a way, this may be the reason Quentin Tarantino wants to retire. To paraphrase the Dark Knight, it seems Tarantino wants to die a hero rather than live long enough to become the villain. Many of those directors who make films more often have made mistakes. Woody Allen – who literally has made a film every year since Annie Hall – is extremely hit and miss in his films. Ridley Scott went through a bit of slump after American Gangster before returning to form with The Martian. Steven Spielberg has shown his feet of clay with movies such as Always and Lost World: Jurassic Park. It seems that because Tarantino has been so choosey about his projects, he has very few blemishes on his resume.

Two of the films that are considered his weaker films are the aforementioned Jackie Brown and Death Proof. I actually enjoy both movies, but agree they are not Tarantino’s best. I think they suffer from being weaker for his standards. When a man’s report cards is filled with A’s, a few B’s tend to stand out. Oddly enough, both films suffer from opposite reasons – Jackie Brown was a little too familiar while Death Proof was too different. In a way, that is one of the commendable facts about Tarantino – a lot of directors fall down by doing the same thing over and over, QT fell on his face by at least taking a risk that simply didn’t pay off. Another blemish was the mediocre compilation film Four Rooms – realistically, that also can’t be held against Tarantino since HIS segment was good. We also can’t hold his first film My Best Friend’s Birthday against him since it was a first film – if anything, shades of brilliance were demonstrated early.

So what will Tarantino do after retirement? The man himself once said that he wants to be an eccentric old man who runs a theater. That sounds awesome on certain levels. Tarantino has also said he’s only going to DIRECT 10 films. It is possible he plans to work in other capacities. He has produced films such as Hostel, which has helped up and coming directors make a name for themselves. Tarantino hasn’t written a film he didn’t direct since From Dusk til Dawn in 1996. Tarantino has had a bad relationship with directors working on films he only wrote. Although they were excellent films, Tarantino was unhappy with the way they turned out. Still, times have changed so if Tarantino were to write without directing, he may have more influence. Even if he does not write full screenplays for other directors, he has done script doctoring on films such as Crimson Tide (and you can see his fingerprints in some of the dialogue). So that is one way Tarantino can influence directors if he does not want to direct anymore.

Also, there is another factor. When I think of retirements, I think of another director who never really did a bad thing – Hayao Miyazaki. Miyazaki also said he was going to retire several times, both before and after his magnum opus Spirited Away. However, his retirement did not seem to stick until The Wind Rises (a good film to go out on). Tarantino does not seem to be the kind of guy who would say he’s retiring just for publicity. Though perhaps if he has anymore ideas, memories of how his other scripts were treated will spark his directing bug again. Either way, Tarantino has won 2 Oscars and directed stone classics such as Pulp Fiction and Django Unchained. So if he does retire in the near future, he is a filmmaker of few regrets.

Jennifer Esposito Joins NCIS

jennifer esposito

Jennifer Esposito (Blue Bloods, Spin City) will join Gibbs’ team on NCIS as Special Agent Alexandra “Alex” Quinn. Her character is an experienced NCIS agent who left field work and became an instructor at the Law Enforcement Training Center.

Jennifer Esposito is hired to replace Sarah Clarke (Special Agent Tess Monroe on NCIS) who will not be returning for season 14. Together with the newly hired Wilmer Valderrama (That 70’s show) and Duane Henry (in a recurring role of MI6 Officer Clayton Reeves), who has been made a series regular ahead of season 14, she will aid the misfits that form Gibbs’ team.

ncis

Season 14 will be the first season without Michael Weatherly; one of my favorite characters of the show. As in life the show must go on and they have hired several people who could possibly fill the void Michael Weatherly has left behind on the team. Let’s be honest though. Nobody can replace Michael Weatherly as Anthony DiNozzo. He was and is one of kind.

But with so many new additions to Gibbs’ team I am wondering what season 14 has in store for us. And how everything will unfold because the end of season 13 left so many questions for season 14.

Go, Go, Power Rangers!! I Mean The Order

theorder

Power Rangers fans rejoice! The reunion that has been almost 20 years in the marking is here!! No it’s not the uber gritty Power Rangers film that featured James Van Deer Beek, it’s the original, original (Sorry Tommy!)  Power Rangers starring in a post apocalyptic dystopian society, torn apart by civil war. Think Marvel: Civil War with Power Rangers and you get the idea.

The film features the original Red Ranger (Austin St.John), Blue Ranger (David Yost), Pink Ranger (Amy Jo Johnson) and Black Ranger (Walter Emanual Jones) with several other rangers and comedy relief duo Bulk and Skull even making an appereance. They have all grown up and are kicking ass minus the spandex and sadly the Megazords, although the lack of megazords is a dissapointment the chance to see some of your former childhood heroes beating the **** out of each other is too much to pass up on.

Will it settle the questions we asked ourselves when we were younger? Is the Red Ranger as tough as he thinks? Will the Blue Ranger wipe the smile off his face? Will the Black Ranger go kung-fu on everyone? Here’s a spoiler for you PEOPLE DIE and LOTS OF THEM. What former Power Ranger will stand tall and who will fall in The Order?

Directed by Supergirl choreographer David Wald, The Order is an agency  largely brought in to control a lawless society, where they find several of them ‘going rogue’ and you are faced with the dilemma of do you bring your former friends to justice or are the ones who broke away those fighting for justice?

Sound awsome? YES!! When can we see it, I hear you cry? Well you can’t yet! Noooooooooooooooooooo curse you Skatronixxx, why hype this film if I can’t see it?

It’s because the film is currently seeking backing on crowdfunder site IndieGoGo, atlhough it has reached it’s goal of $100,000 so the dream will become a reality, it will take take time and you can still contribute!

Want to chat with former Red Ranger number 2 Steve Cardenas? You can do it for a cool $75 or chat to the whole cast for $100!

SO WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR!!! Back the team NOW!!

You can support the team here or follow them at the following social media sites:-

PLEASE NOTE

** This is NOT a Power Ranger Movie and in no way claims attachment or involvement to Saban Entertainment, Lions Gate, Power Rangers, Fox TV, Nickelodeon or their network properties.  We are fans of POWER RANGERS, but this is also NOT an official Power Ranger reunion sanctioned by Saban or any companies in partnership with Saban.

Prepare Yourself For Van Damage!

upcoming-film-kickboxer-vengeance-696407

Jean-Claude Van Damme’s new Kickboxer movie is happening!!

In the age of 80’s franchise reboots (Robocop21 Jump StreetA-TeamThe Karate KidConan the Barbarian) who isn’t excited for Jean Claude Van Damme to make his return? Granted, not every shot at a reboot is a home run but it’s still fun to relive your youth for at least a fleeting moment.

Kickboxer: Vengeance” is  practically a straight remake of the 1989 film. This time around Van Damme will be playing the wise sensei role, this time named Master Durand. while stunt performer Alain Moussi (X-Men DOFPPacific Rim, Warcraft) playing martial artist, Kurt Sloane, who travels to Thailand to avenge his brother’s death at the hands of  Tong Po (Dave Bautista).

The reboot also stars Gina Carano (Fast & Furious 6Deadpool) as Marcia and Darren Shahlavi (300Watchmen) as Eric Sloane in his final film appearance before his untimely death at age 42 due to Atherosclerosis. Kickboxer: Vengeance is set to be released in theaters on August 19, 2016, 27 years after the original made JCVD a star. WOO!!
