Nintendo Announces ‘Super Mario Run’ For IOS

super-mario-run-640x360

Apple’s annual news event is currently ongoing and it seems Nintendo fans have a big reason to pay attention. Stepping to the stage, Shigeru Miyamoto, creator of such big name franchises as Mario and The Legend of Zelda, announced Nintendo’s latest mobile game ‘Super Mario Run’.

This isn’t Nintendo’s first foray into mobile gaming. They released the game/app ‘Miitomo’ earlier this year to initial excitement which soon petered out. Also, contrary to popular belief, Nintendo did not play any part in the making of ‘Pokemon Go’, though it’s fair to say they benefitted greatly from it. In any case ‘Super Mario Run’ looks set to be a much more exciting experience than ‘Miitomo’ with clear gameplay present.

The game is billed as an ‘auto-runner’, meaning Mario will be continuously running across the screen, whilst it’s the player’s job to tap in order to make him jump, avoiding obstacles and collecting coins as you do so.

The game doesn’t release until December, however there is already a page up on the app store where you can opt in to be notified when the game releases. This page holds some interesting information about the game, including details of three separate game modes:

  • The first mode features challenging courses for you to complete.
  • In the second mode you challenge the play data of other people’s completed courses. You compete to see who can finish the course with the most style!
  • In the third mode you can create your own Mushroom Kingdom using coins collected by playing the first two game modes.

The game will also offer in app purchases, however will release at an as yet unknown set price. Because of this, the in app purchases are likely to be cosmetic only.

Nintendo also said that their two other mobile games in the works, based on the ‘Animal Crossing’ and ‘Fire Emblem’ series, would now be releasing after ‘Super Mario Run’ but before March 2017.

‘Super Mario Run’ releases on the app store for iPhone and iPad December 2016. Plans for a release on Android devices are currently unknown.

Ni No Kuni 2? More like Ni No Hugey!

https://i.ytimg.com/vi/0AkY9a7DQUE/maxresdefault.jpg

It has been said that the new Ni No Kuni Game will be quite the monster in terms of size. The first game offered so much to do and a wide map to explore. That game came out about 3 years ago, and if this game is bigger than that then wow. I am so excited to play this game especially since I am finally working to finish Ni No Kuni which I never actually played.

What could this mean for the sequel? Well it could mean even more monsters to tame and fight. Even more world to explore and a longer more fulfilling game though from what I’ve played the first game is magnificent.

Sadly Studio Ghibli isn’t working on this game. But be assured that the creators are keeping the Ghibli essence as this game will  be accessible by anyone, even people who haven’t watched much Anime.

In essence that is what Ghibli is. Something so magical that anyone who gives it a chance can watch and inevitably love. I mean I have never found a person who didn’t like Studio Ghibli so if this game can keep this essence it will be a big hit.

Anyway I can’t wait to play this game and I am excited to find more about it. Well, I have to go and get back to working on Ni No Kuni so I hope you are all excited by the idea of this game being far bigger like I am!

Time For More Pokemon Sun And Moon News!

The amazing Pokemon Company graced us with more Pokemon News today. The games are closer and closer and this news is always welcome. I always am thrilled by what I see and it just makes me more and more excited. Already this game is looking to be brilliant so with every new piece of information it just looks better!

Jangmo-o is the new Dragon type Pokemon and possibly the region’s Pseudo Legendary. I think I will have to raise this little reptile when he game comes out. He has the ability Soundproof so he will be able to resist any sound moves without much difficulty.

Type:Null is a new Pokemon who is normal type though his name means nothing. Visually he is quite cool looking. He is clearly made up of different things or at least different species. I am looking forward to discovering more about this beast.

UB01 is a new type of Pokemon being. This new type of Pokemon is called an Ultra beast and they are after the destruction of Alola. This first one looks like a girl. It is rather suspicious to me that they showed off the character Lillie when this Ultra Beast looks quite similar to her.

Allan Raticate was also revealed. He is Dark Normal like Alolan Rattatta. This Pokemon has big puffy cheeks and looks like he enjoys good food. In fact Alolan Raticate only enjoy high class fruit and product.

Time for news on how time will play into the games. Pokemon Sun and Moon are set 12 hours apart so events will play out differently. In Sun you will face a Gumshoos as the Totem Pokemon while in Moon you are up against Alolan Raticate. I am excited to find out what other differences there are. Clearly these 12 hours will be integral to the game’s story.

There was also news of a team of people who are facing down Team Skull. The Aether Foundation is a team of heroic people out to stop Team Skill’s Villainous ways.

This beautiful lady is the laeader of the Aether Foundation. She bears a striking resmeblance to Lillie and another new character Gladion Team Skull’s Enforcer. She may be lovely but is she hiding something. Is she actually leading the true villains of the game?

This is the Aether Foundation’s top scientist and he is a little creepy. Something about him doesn’t sit right with me. But it could just be my imagination.

This is Wicke another important member of the Aether Foundation. Her cheerful look looks sweet but she could be hiding something as well.

This is Team Skull’s Enforcer Gladion, who looks an awful lot like Lusamine. Is her son or brother? His main Pokemon is Type:Null and he really is a callous fellow.

Something that was thought to be coming to Sun and Moon is the capturing of Zygarde Cells on the over world. This looks like a fun side quest to undertake as you travel the region. I am excited to catch all of the Zygarde Cell’s because then it will be possible to have Zygarde’s 100% Form!

There is also the introduction of the Poke Finder which allows you to take pictures of Pokemon. You can even post the pictures online and people can like them! This is being informally dubbed Pokemon Snap 2 and even though it is just a feature it seems there will be lots of chances to photograph Pokemon.

Pokemon Sun and Moon comes out November 18th and I am so excited!

Nintendo Going Back To Using Cartridges With The Upcoming Nintendo NX?

So there has been reports and rumours going on that would indicate Nintendo could switch discs to cartridges on it’s next console, the “Nintendo NX”. Whether or not this is actually true remains to be seen, but the info regarding the subject does strongly suggest that this kind of a step back to the old times is happening. The fact that Nintendo still uses cartridges for DS and 3DS consoles, and that Nintendo Wii and WiiU haven’t had very high technology in them, makes the rumours seem plausible. Cartridges can’t hold as much information in them as discs, so if this is happening, it’s probably telling something about the upcoming console’s capacity. Here’s a picture of what we might be expecting.

Can’t wait to see if this is actually happening! Nintendo sure knows how to make a fan curious.

What Are Ya Playin? With Auburn.Geek

jade

Hi peeps! I’m continuing the new games article segment “What are ya playin?”, started by our very own Stark! If you guys have been following my instagram page(@auburn.geek) you probably already know I’ve been on an epic Pokémon frenzy. It all started when I downloaded Pokémon Go on my phone and started playing it. I soon noticed that even though Pokémon Go does have it’s appeal, the “real” Pokémon games offer so much more for an intensive gamer like myself. Long story short, I had only reached level 6 on Pokemon Go when I pretty much abandoned it and started playing some of my old Pokémon DS games like Pokémon Diamond and Soul silver.

IMG_20160831_175225.jpg

Then We got really into it with my husband and bought another Nintendo 3DS just so we could play Pokémon together! We played Pokémon X&Y together and then we bought Alpha Sapphire and Omega Ruby and played them together too. Such an awesome experience to play these amazing games with your loved one! Last but not least I ordered Pokémon Black&white 2 games from e-bay and now er´re playing them through. Of these games i loved X&Y most, this surprised me since I’m usually leaning towards older games but damn is Game Freak doesn’t know what they´re doing! Pokémon series seems to get better and better by every new release. This makes me so happy. I’ve put over 250 hours on Playing Pokémon these past few months, that might sound like too much but you know what they say, the time you enjoy wasting is not wasted time! Can’t wait for Sun and Moon, which we of course have pre-ordered.

Telltale’s ‘The Walking Dead: Season 3’ Debuts This November

Telltale Walking Dead S3E1

The PAX West video-game convention is currently ongoing in Seattle, and we’re seeing a steady trickle of news coming from the event. One (sort of) big reveal is the release date for Episode 1 of Telltale’s ‘The Walking Dead: Season 3’. I say sort of because that release date is more of a release month, with no firm time yet set. However at some point in November you know you’ll be able to sit down and have your heart broken, so yeah, look forward to that.

The game has also received a new subtitle: ‘A New Frontier’. This doesn’t tell us much, however like the ‘New World’ tagline used for the last season of ‘The Walking Dead’ TV series, we can expect Clementine to run into a whole lot of new faces as her horizons expand in that dreary, desolate hellscape she calls home.

Those behind the game did have some things to add, however given the story driven nature of the game and not wanting to reveal spoilers, it’s about as vague as it gets.

“This third new season will serve as both a continuation of what’s come before in our story, as well as an all-new beginning set nearly four years after the outbreak events of Season One. As a harrowing and horrific drama, ‘A New Frontier’ will explore beyond what it means to survive in a world ravaged by the undead, and will see our characters confronting the new rules of order and justice in a land being brutally reclaimed and rediscovered by what’s left of humanity itself.”

Sounds like we’re certainly gonna be getting our average dose of horror and despair then. If you thought it was going to be bad for us, spare a thought for poor Clementine and new kid on the block Javier.

“When we began this series, we explored what it meant to protect a character like Clementine at all costs. Years later, meeting her for the first time, Javier will begin to unravel the mystery of who Clementine has become, as her story intersects with his—both of them still driven by the things they value most long after society’s collapse.”

So it looks like this is shaping up to be another solid entry in Telltale’s ‘The Walking Dead’ series. It’s certainly business as usual, but with a winning formula and compelling story, why would you want it to change?

‘The Walking Dead: Season 3’ will come to PC, Mac, PS4, PS3, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and Mobile this November.

Batman Arkham VR Teases Death Traps And New Villains

rsz_maxresdefault.png

In a little over a month, PS4 owners will finally be able to jump into the world of VR and more importantly become the Batman. There’s little to no gameplay of what we can fully expect when we literally step into Gotham, but who cares it’s Batman in VR!

From what we know, this won’t take place in Rocksteady’s Arkham series, but instead will have you solving some harrowing murder mysteries as the Dark Knight. Rocksteady also showed some behind-the-scenes video, with creative director Sefton Hill stating, “You’re going to meet some different super villains as you play through. You’re gonna get stuck in a deathtrap that you need to figure a way out. We wanted to create a series of different scenes that all felt unique when you played through it, unraveling what’s happening is all part of the mystery.”

From what can be seen in the video below; there’s no mind blowing never-before-seen gameplay, as most of what we can see takes place in the Batcave and is very short, but there is a very small glimpse of Knightwing taking on what seems to be a new adversary. Let’s hope his appearance means there will be some interesting mechanics brought in like they had with the Arkham series.

It’s been reported that this will be a short experience lasting around 2 – 3 hours as it’s intended to give people the sense of being Batman in a way that no Halloween costume or comic book collection ever has.

This may be a short game but after that amount of time in VR, most will welcome the break from having a screen that close to the face and constantly moving. The price doesn’t seem to reflect this short experience, with pre-orders around the same as most triple A titles, but lets face it, that’s a price worth paying to become the Bat.

Batman Arkham VR will available at the launch of the PS VR on October 13th worldwide, and we here at Skatronixxx will be keeping a close eye on all things VR.

The Film Future Of “Uncharted” Is A Little, Well… Uncharted

10c38cc49d360c79f049330fc63544c0

As someone who finally got a PlayStation and then proceeded to binge all four Uncharted games in a week (who needs sleep?), I have a deep and abiding love for the fantastic characters of the games. From the disaster-prone and clever Nathan Drake, to the brilliant and bad-a Elena Fisher, to the snarky and loyal Victor Sullivan, I grew invested in their crazy adventures and intricate stories.

So when I heard that Sony was planning to make a live-action Uncharted film, I lost my mind. In late July, Joe Carnahan (The Grey, writer and director) was confirmed as the writer for film, although his current production schedule prohibited him from directing it. Other people attached to making the film happen are producers Charles Roven (Man of Steel) and Avi Arad (The Amazing Spider-Man).

However, don’t get your hopes up. Recently, Sony took the Uncharted film off of their production schedule. The film was originally slated to be released June 30th, 2017, and has been in the works since 2009. But rather than just get a “TBA” or be moved to a different release date – because, even if they got all their ducks in a row today, it’s extremely unlikely that they could have a completed film in less than a year – like other delayed major motion pictures, Uncharted was removed from the production schedule altogether.

Some speculate that this could mean that the film was cancelled entirely.

But wait! I have some (admittedly weak) evidence to the contrary. The same day that the removal was announced, writer Joe Carnahan tweeted that he had just finished the opening scene in the script – and that it was “REALLY GOOD.”

It would be really odd to announce something like that the same day as a cancellation, right? So, maybe, the film is just being postponed for a long time, and so they just decided to take it off the production schedule until they figured everything out? Maybe? Hopefully?

So I guess you can sorta kinda get your hopes up. I don’t know. It’s kind of an emotional roller coaster at this point.

So don’t be disappointed. But don’t get your hopes up too high, either. Maybe keep them at a reasonable level (or a wee bit lower), so that, if a later release date for the film is announced, you’re pleasantly surprised (and if it remains cancelled indefinitely, the pain won’t hurt so much).

Personally, I’m going to be crossing my fingers and knocking on wood everyday until I hear that the film is back on track. If they keep to the video game formula of incredible visuals, engaging story, and brilliant and dynamic characters, they’ll have a truly fantastic movie. If Sony accurately captures the relationship between Nate, Elena, and Sully, they’ll easily capture themselves a box-office hit.

So here’s hoping that they’re just pushing the release date back until 2018.

But until I find out for certain, in the words of Victor Sullivan, I’ll be “sweatin’ like a hooker in church” (but for different reasons, obviously).

Pokemon Sun and Moon Demo?!

https://i.ytimg.com/vi/hmzDL1l3Fag/maxresdefault.jpg

It has been announced through the Korean rating board that a demo for Pokemon Sun and Moon will be released. This is great news for Pokemon fans as even though it hasn’t been announced for anywhere but Korea, everyone else should probably get this demo.

When they released Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire they also had a demo which was great. It let you jump into the Pokemon world and do a little battling gaining items and even a mega stone to mega evolve either Glalie or Steelix.

This was a great way to build excitement for the game as it was something you could play up to ten times and get different rewards. Chances are this Sun and Moon demo will be in the same vein and I am excited to see what they have come up with in terms of the demo.

Keep checking Skatronixxx for news about Pokemon Sun and Moon!
