3100299-siege

Because Rainbow Six Siege is getting a new expansion (Operation Skull Rain) on 2nd of August, Microsoft has announced that Siege will be free on Xbox One for Xbox Live Gold members from Thursday(today!) to Sunday. If you ever wondered if you’d like the game, now’s a great opportunity to try it out, especially since the game will be on sale now so you can continue gaming after the weekend for a reduced price.

Operation Skull Rain will add two Operators and a map, like the earlier expansions. The new expansion will take place in a Brazilian favela, and Microsoft has claimed it to be “most destructible map to date.” The new operators are from Brazil’s Batalhão de Operações Policiais Especiais or BOPE. There will be a female sneak type character called Caveira, she is a defense character and is equipped with an M12 or SPAS-15 as a primary weapon, a PRB92 secondary, and C4 or barbed wire. she has the “Silent Step” skill that enables her to sneak up on enemies to immobilize and then interrogate them to reveal their teammates’ location. The other character, Capitão, will be the offense character and he is equipped with n M-249 or PARA-308, PRB92, and frag or stun grenades. He also has a crossbow that fires “asphyxiating bolts that burn oxygen within a certain radius” or “micro” smoke grenades. The characters are available for the season pass holders exclusively for the first week. After that they are available to purchase for in-game currency. The map is going to be free for all players right away. Also the much wanted Tactical Realism custom game mode will be added.

The Last Guardian is Finally Coming!

rsz_the-last-guardian-listing-thumb-01-ps4-us-13jun16

Most people may vaguely remember E3 2009, where Team Ico announced the third part of their trilogy of games called ‘The Last Guardian’ and gave a release date of 2011 coming to PS3. That year came and went, and due to numerous issues with hardware difficulties, delays, and certain developers at Team Ico departing it was decided to transition the project to the PS4 back in 2012.

The game tells a story of a boy that finds a mysterious half-bird, half-mammal creature called Trico, and their journey to escape the crumbling ruins and other malevolent dangers in a strange world.

A few people have been lucky enough to play a demo for the game via E3 as well as other early builds and so far it seems to be all positive feedback on what people have experienced. For those that have not had the chance to experience the game yet, concerns still grow around the length of time it’s been in development, and what this means for the quality of the finished product. However, given the track record of Team Ico and SIE Japan Studio with ICO and Shadow of the Colossus, it would be safe to say that the same care and attention has been put into this title as with the previous two.

For those that haven’t lost faith and are counting the days till release, there are some gorgeous collector editions for your hard earned money –

Batman: Arkham Underworld Review

Ever wanted to be the villain and create your own gang? Imagine what it would be like to create your own empire, and go after the so-called Super Hero! Turbine Inc. has given us, as gamers, the opportunity to do so in a very addicting mobile game titled, Batman: Arkham Underworld. It is the first Arkham game where Joker is not involved in the plot or storyline. Personally I had to stop my infatuation with the game, just to write this!

IMG_1753

This mobile game is an RPG MMO hack and slash strategy game. For those who aren’t gamers, pretty much you can attack other players online and build your own base using a simple press of a button, all at your fingertips. Arkham Underworld even gives your story missions throughout as you rank up and advance meeting the likes of characters such as Catwoman, Deadshot, Killer Croc, Scarecrow, Harley Quinn and much more. The story goes as you are creating your own empire trying to take over Gotham using the villains, I repeat using the villains you unlock during gameplay! Batman does interfere in your process making it extremely difficult to complete tasks. You rob banks, free prisoners and ultimately try to take down a Mob Boss and his henchmen to gain control of that particular territory. It is fun and finally lets us gamers be the bad guys for once. With some missions, you even try and stop Amanda Waller from creating the Suicide Squad!

While recruiting your favorite DC Comic super villains to take over Gotham dominance, you are able to train your gang members, earn respect and build a customizable lair. Your gang as a whole will level up as you build more items in your base which in turn, gains you money and respect. Use this wisely because you also can customize your super villains move-set! I have leveled up Harley Quinn so far, she is now followed around by a pack of dogs helping you kill enemies. My Riddler character has a hologram to take the damage away from him, distracting the police, making it easier to complete your mission. It is a strategy game, which gives you an opportunity to think before you attack. Many missions can be completed fast and easy, if properly thought out. Be careful as certain rooms you cross into can trigger more police incoming or even the Batman himself! Below is a picture of my personal hideout and progress……. Please Don’t Attack Me!!IMG_1761

I can’t rave enough about this game considering I haven’t stop playing it for the past two weeks. Rumor has it if you get far enough, you may be able to eliminate the Dark Knight! A dream many comic lovers have wished for, for a loooooong time! This visually stunning mobile game was released in May 2016 and is set to be worldwide come October 2016. You can download it right now in the majority of countries by Clicking Here! I wish I created this game, I wish I wrote it, and I wish I was part of the amazing team at Turbine Entertainment Studios, who I can not thank enough for creating such a wonderful masterpiece!

How fast can you level up? Who is your favorite villain to use? Let me know in a comment or tweet me @MAK10GATOR !! P.S. I think they approve of me playing the game considering they liked my tweet yesterday!

Pokémon GO Dating Will Find a Match For a Fee

rsz_1pokedates-media.png

Pokémon GO has been dominant in the app store for a few weeks now, and it’s been putting people in all sorts of strange situations. So naturally someone has seen potential in using the game as a way to start a new romance with like minded trainers.

The new service PokéDates, uses your personal details and Pokémon preferences to find you a suitable match, and sends you both to a Pokéstop or Gym to meet.

The site gives your first match for free, but each one after that is going to set you back $20 per match, so it’s unlikely you’ll want to “catch em’ all” at that price. Luckily, if you have a terrible experience with your match, you can request a refund with their guarantee by emailing them.

PokéDates is part of another dating company called Project Fixup, that use actual people, rather than algorithms to find the perfect match.

At the moment the service is only available in the US but it has plans to come to Canada.

Let us know if you have used it, and what you thought of it in the comments.

New Sonic Game That Actually Looks Great!

Sonic-Mania-960x540

As an old time Sonic fan I’ve shared the opinion of most old school gamers: New Sonic games suck. Always. So now I’m more than happy to share this bit of news; Sonic Mania is taking our familiar blue friend back to basics and to the time when he was actually  great. You’ll have to check the trailer yourself to fully grasp how close we are to getting a new Sonic game that will finally live up to the first games.

It has taken a long time for the developers to understand what made people love Sonic, and now they are getting there again. In the game there are the old games and whole new zones. All in the classic 2D style. Playable characters are Sonic himself, Tales and Knuckles. Sonic Mania will be available next spring, for Xbox One, PS4 and PC. Can’t wait!

Telltale’s Batman Coming August 2nd

rsz_batmanepisode1

Love Telltale? Love Batman? Well, coming August 2nd is the first instalment of their take on the dark knight which will be coming to PC, Mac, iOS, Android, PS4, PS3, Xbox One, and Xbox 360, so there will be plenty of ways for everyone to play. A disc-based version will also be available on September 13th in North America and in Europe on the 16th, which will give access to the first five episodes and then the next four as they become available.

The first episode ‘Realm of shadows’ will cover both aspects of Bruce Wayne, and was announced with a shiny new trailer which featured some well knowns like Carmine Falcone, Harvey Dent, and Catwoman to name a few.

Telltale are well known for getting their players to make tough decisions in a short period of time, and it would be safe to say Batman will follow the same trend, especially when it comes to actually fighting crime.

The game also has a number of big names doing the voice work, including Troy Baker as Bruce Wayne, Erin Yvette as Vicki Vale, Murphy Guyer as James Gordon, and Laura Bailey as Selina Kyle.

Let us know what you’re thoughts are on this game, and if you’ll be downloading the first episode or waiting for the disc based version later on.

New UNO Videogame Announced

uno

A new UNO videogame has been announced. The new game will be released on PS4, Xbox One and PC on 9th August and has been developed by the popular videogame company Ubisoft. Ubisoft are responsible for the critically acclaimed Rayman series and the hugely popular Assasins Creed, so the popular card game is in safe hands. However those who prefer physical copies will be disappointed as the game will only be released digitally through the Playstation Network, Xbox Live and Windows Store.

The new UNO release features video chat support and a ‘theme system’.  There will be a Rabbids theme available at launch. The theme includes four new cards, such as the ‘Wild Blue Yonder’ card that gives you the ability to protect yourself from drawing cards and pass on the penalty to another player. For example, should a player place a ‘plus four’ card on the pile, if the next player had placed the Wild Blue Yonder card down he would not have to draw four cards but instead can pass the duty onto another player. The ‘Wild Blue Yonder’ card appears to be one of the Theme Cards mentioned on the official site.

The game will offer users the ability to add a set of ‘house rules’ or ‘match settings’ to change the mechanics. For those who prefer simplicity, there is the option to play the classic card game without any added gimmicks (referred to on the UNO website as ‘Classic Play’).

In the latest UNO game, players will be able to compete against up to three players online, as well as utilise global and weekly leaderboards. Ubisoft have stated there will be special medals that can be unlocked during online play that can be shown to friends and other opponents.

There have been other games released based on the iconic card game. In 1999, Mattel Games released a Game Boy Colour title simply called ‘Uno’. The content consisted only of the classic UNO game, without any of the gimmicks that have followed in future iterations of the card game. More recently, Real Arcade released the game Uno Undercover for PC. This saw the introduction of an ‘Adventure Mode’, which introduced a number of storylines to play through alongside the traditional UNO gameplay. This will be the first UNO game for PS4 and Xbox One. Personally, I have always wanted to see a sequel to the card game called ‘Dos’ (Two) but I highly doubt that’s going to happen anytime soon.
