An Interview With The Newest Member Of Skatronixxx.Com FranPan

fran.png

Sorry Fran it’s the only photo I had 😛

Those of you who know me, know that I have been on the lookout for more people to join the merry band of misfits we call writers here at Skatronixxx.Com .

If you’ve been a long time follower of me on Twitter you’ll know that I started the site back in January (wow, we’re not even a year old) and I’ve gone from 30,000 followers to 85,000+ I’ve also took on another writer the insanely talented @mitch_rated who keeps you all informed with the news hot off the press. That has enabled me to sit back into more of an editorial role, whilst I try to secure advertising and funding to keep the site going. I’m also now main inerviewer and features reviewer, so although you won’t see my name all over the site like you used to. I’m busy pulling the strings behind the scene so to speak.

So we’ve got myself doing the interviews and features and @mitch_rated covering the news. That left a hole where books, comics and music are concenred. As we want to keep you entertained and informed. I’ve reached out to some people but not many respondded. Some have repsonded but but did not follow through on the goods so to speak.

So after a lengthy search, one that was almost as long as the wait for the next Ghostbusters film. The search is over! Let’s welcome @franpan to the gang. @franpan didn’t actually ask to appear on the site, I asked here. When someone is on your timeline with the name ‘The Amazing Spider Fran’ you can’t help but be a little curious.

I clicked on her profile and saw she was a blogger and not only that but a damn good one, after a few back and forth emails, here we are! Let’s welcome @franpan our book and comic (if she’s up for it) reviewer to the gang with the standard ‘Welcome To The Gang’ Q&A.

———————————————————————————————————————————————————–

1) How did you get into writing, and what can we expect to see from you on www.skatronixxx.com ?

I got into writing at a very young age – I remember being eight and attempting to write my own book about a young girl who gets bitten by a werewolf that’s been hunting in her local area. I remember my auntie and mum being incredibly scared of it! And truth be told, I haven’t stopped since.

From me, you can expect excitement and eagerness in high doses to read and blog about everything and anything and a nitpicky need to ensure my posts are great!

2) Do you have any interests or hidden talents outside of blogging? For example are you a secret jewel thief or ninja samurai warrior?

I’m afraid secret jewel thief isn’t up there, unless you count starting the Uncharted games recently! I’m big into reading, mostly fantasy and graphic novels! I’m also a huge fan of the mcu and ensuring I see all of them in the cinema at least twice is where I am at. And I like video games too, though I wouldn’t call it a talent as much as a “well I got shot in the face again.” – but I have fun so I suppose that’s what matters!!!

3) What’s your top 3 fandoms? For example mine are Doctor Who, Ghostbusters and anything to do with Captain America (he’s like me but American!)

Only a top 3?! Oh my. If I had to be really honest, the entire MCU including spiderman (he counts now! But let it be known he’s the ultimate favourite.), Harry Potter and Throne of Glass (really awesome series about a female assassin facing a corrupt kingdom!)  but I want the record to state I’m also a huge Jurassic Park nerd and I cried a little in the cinema when I watched Jurassic World and you saw the park with the music and the things. Dinosaurs just get you man.

 This series looks interesting!

4) What’s the most famous celeb you have met? For example I’ve met Jason Momoa, Danny Glover, Lou Ferrigno and Ernie Hudson. How about you?

Jason Momoa?! I’m jealous! I’ve met Robert Downey Jr, Scarlet Johansson, Chris Evans, Elizabeth Olsen, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Hayley Atwell, Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Jeremy Renner, Paul Bettany…basically all of the avengers so far!

5) If a film was made of your life, who would play you and what would the film be called?

I’m not sure who would play me – but the movie would most likely be called “how not to manoeuvre adulthood” or “oh god, Fran, not again.”

6) As a massive Ghostbusters fan this is important to me! Remake, will it surprise us or disappoint us?

I think the remake will surprise us! Don’t get me wrong, it’s not going to beat or be the original and I don’t think it’s trying to be. I think it’s a fresh take on a classic and I’m willing to go in open minded!

7) What’s better Star Trek or Star Wars?

Is there a difference? KIDDING. I’ve seen zero of Star Trek except the modern movies. But I did finally watch Star Wars a few years ago and loved the hell out of it, so we will go Star Wars!

8) Who’s your favourite Doctor Who and why?

David Tennant – he’s where I kicked off with watching Doctor Who, and I found him so charismatic and fun to watch! He’s an incredible actor and I was so gutted when his time as the Doctor ended.

 Francy a ride Fran???

9) Have you got any goals for the remaining part of 2015 and into 2016?

Finish my goal of reading 50 books in one year (only like 4 to go!), read more comics, attend the Captain America: Civil War premiere, move out with my partner and find a full time job back in the digital marketing sector!

10) Finally it’s time for the ultimate question! If you had to pick one and you couldn’t have the other ever again, what would you pick, bacon, cheese or time travel?

Realistically, if I could time travel, I’d try and go back and avoid awkward situations and probably either A) mess up my entire future or B) make the awkward social situation 10 times worse THEN mess up my entire future.

I guess cheese. Bacon is avoidable but cheese is in everything great about life (pizza, paninis, 99% of Spanish and Mexican food) so, cheese. Yes, cheese!!!

So here we are, our new gang member @franpan, ‘Hi Fran!!’ I for one look forward to your debut article 🙂

An Interview With The Walking Dead’s Steve Coulter

steve.png

It’s Steve Coulter, actor, writer, all round cool guy!

Who is Steve Coulter? Fans of The Walking Dead will know him as Reg Monroe in hit tv show The Walking Dead. There’s also much more to Steve but I’m not going to insert a spoiler here, you’ll have to read on to find out about him, where he’s come from and what he’s got lined up for the coming months.

Steve is another one of my verified followers who agreed to do an interview on the site. Before I sent the interview we got chatting and he seems like an awesome and talented guy. I am truly blessed to have such amazing and cool followers like Steve.

So let’s find out a little more him!

———————————————————————————————————————————————————–

1) How did you get into acting?

I was extremely shy growing up, and especially in school.  I was terrified of even reading out loud in class.  In 8th grade, we were assigned to write a report about Hungary, and instead of writing the report, two friends and I presented a scene that we wrote, pretending to be members of an underground resistance movement in Hungary.  We had candles, toy guns, and that way we talked about the history, geography, and history of Hungary.  It went over really well, and I think it sparked something in me.

I also say a school production of “Our Town”, and I was totally captivated by it and thought, “I want to do THAT.”  So started doing plays in junior high and high school.  I was still shy, but somehow, playing someone else was easy and a great escape. I ended up going to an acting conservatory program for college at the North Carolina School of the Arts and figured out how to make a living at this thing.

2) You were in The Walking Dead as Reg Monroe, what was it like being on such a cult show and do you have any interesting stories from your time there?

I had been a huge fan of the The Walking Dead from the first episode, so I was very excited to be on the show.  I’d auditioned for the show twice before, my first audition was for the role of Hershel (and I think Scott Wilson did a MUCH better job than I ever could have done). Hadn’t realized it was going to be a recurring role, and had no idea what would eventually happen to Reg.

It was funny how I learned that Reg wasn’t going to make it out of season 5 alive.  I’d gotten a message that Scott Gimple (the showrunner) wanted to meet with me.  I think I was shooting my second episode at the time.  I naively thought that he just wanted to chat about the character.  We played phone tag for a day or so, then I got another message saying “Scott wants to talk to you about what’s coming up in the finale episode.”  My immediate thought was, “Awww…I’m gonna die.”  We finally talked on a Saturday, and Scott was extremely apologetic. Literally apologizing around a dozen times, but he said “It’s gonna be really cool, though…you die in the final scene of the final episode!”.  I was disappointed and excited at the same time.  I would’ve loved to continue on the show, but I got to go out with quite a bang.

 RIP Reg *sniff sniff*

3) You also starred as Elijah Bowman in the TV series Banshee, how would you describe your character and the show to someone who has not seen it before?

Banshee takes place in the Amish country of Pennsylvania, and Elijah is a leader in that community.  He is the father of Rebecca, who he has cast out of the Amish world because of her “worldly” activities.  The Amish lead a very stoic life – no electricity, cars, phones, etc.  And he has a pretty nifty Amish beard, which took about an hour and a half to apply in the makeup trailer every day.

That is a DAMN cool beard

4) If you could be in one existing film, what film and character would you choose and why?

Great question.  I think Jason Bourne, in any of the Bourne movies.  Because he gets to do a bunch of really cool stuff.  Appeals to that 11 year-old in me.  Either that, or any Western.

5) I see that you are also a writer, are you working on any projects currently you can share with us?

I wrote a pilot script for a series we’re developing, called “The Land”.  It’s the story of a farm family, and if I had to compare it to something, I’d might say it’s a 21st century version of “The Waltons”. Or Downton Abby for the U.S.

6) Can we expect to see you at any conventions in the US or UK in the coming months?

I’ll be at the New York/New Jersey Walker Stalker Convention the first week of December.  Possibly in London in 2016, but I think I’m shooting a film at the time, so iffy as to whether I could go.

7) What can we expect to see from you in the remaining months of 2015 and into 2016?

I appear opposite Bruce Willis in the film, “Extraction”, which opens this December.  I play his boss at the CIA, and my character drops a LOT of f-bombs.  I just finished shooting “The Conjuring 2” out in LA, and that’s coming out later in 2016. Next year you can also see me in “The Wizard of Lies” with Robert DeNiro on HBO, with Jamie Foxx in “Sleepless Night”, “The Founder” with Michael Keaton, and “Mena”, with Tom Cruise”.

8) Tell our readers one fun fact about yourself that they may not already know?

Hmm, let me think…I’m a cartoonist.  Almost did that instead of becoming an actor. And I wanted to be a professional baseball player when I was growing up.  However, it turns out you have to be a good baseball player to do that.

9) Finally what advice would you have for an upcoming actress or actor?

Know that it is a long-distance race, not a sprint.  Take classes, work on things you have control over, since so much is out of your control in this business.  Like in any other profession or in sports, preparation is SO important…work harder than anyone else, but keep a sense of humor and don’t take yourself too seriously.  And be nice to everyone on your way up.

An Interview With Scary Movie Star Dave Sheridan

dave
Dave is awesome! Go check out his movies now 😛
Those of you that know me and follow me on twitter and are frequent visitors to the site, know I reached out to some of my verified followers to see if they’d be interested in an interview on the site.
The first to get back to me was Dave Sheridan. Dave agreed and here we are. After doing a bit of background research, I didn’t realise how many of his films I had actually seen. After chatting to Dave and finding out what an awesome guy he is, he agreed to the interview. So let’s find out a little more about American actor Dave Sheridan.
—————————————————————————————————————————————————-
1) How did you get into acting?
I fell into Acting while I was in film school studying to be a director. I would schedule out film shoots and all of the Actors I booked (since there was no pay) always flaked and I was forced to act in my own films.  After that I stopped trying to work with other actors and just started shooting films that I would act in.
2) You were in Scary Movie as Special Officer Doofy. What was it like being in such an iconic movie and would you ever consider going back if they asked you?
That was a great experience shooting Scary Movie as my first studio film.  Doofy was a character CHIP that I developed and shot several short film about.  The producers saw those films and thought he was a good fit to play Doofy.  I never broke the character of Chip on set while filming the movie.  So all the other actors thought that I was really mentally challenged (until we shot the ending) and they were all surprised.

 I loved Scary Movie 🙂
3) You also starred as Sheriff Lincoln in The Walking Deceased, are you a fan of the zombie genre and shows such as The Walking Dead?
It’s my favourite show, that’s why I decided to spoof it… I didn’t see any other chance to be in the real show.  So my spoof was close enough for me.  Had a blast killing Zombies, their heads just explode so nice.

4) If you could be in one existing film, what film and character would you choose and why?
Star Wars,  Dan Solo (Han Solo’s son) He’s just a bartender now, but he’s an aspiring musician and dreams of touring the galaxy with his one-man band: Going Solo
5) You’re in a band called Van Stone, how’s the band and do you have any gigs lined up?
Band is no more, we are working on compiling footage and editing a documentary.   It’ll be called  LAST OF THE ROCK GODS
6) You also appeared in two of Red Hot Chilli Peppers music videos, what was that like?
I loved shooting those music videos, It was a character named Stewart… Most will know him as Doug from Ghost World.  But the original films I made with him that the band saw where about my character Stewart.  There’s a great behind the scenes “making of”  on Youtube.
OMG I totally remember this video *fanboy moment*
7) What can we expect to see from you in the remaining months of 2015 and into 2016?

2016 I’ll be in FIFTY SHADES OF BLACK.  2017 I’ll be in SKY SHARKS and

HALLOWEEN PARTY 1986
8) Tell our readers one fun fact about yourself that they may not already know?
There is nothing fun about facts, only fiction:  My eyes turn different colour depending on the amount of sunlight (Light Blue, Dark Blue, Green, brown)
9) Finally what advice would you have for an upcoming actress or actor?
Try not to step on people on your way up, you never know who’ll you need on the way down.

A Catch Up Interview With American Actress Amber Dawn Fox

amberdawnfox
It’s one of the #SkatFamily members Amber! – Skatronixxx
Way back at the start of 2015 one of the very first people I interviewed was my friend Amber who was well known for playing the role of Officer Bello on The Walking Dead. But what has Amber been upto since the start of the year? I was lucky to be given the chance to have a quick catch up interview with Amber, so lets see what she has been up to in 2015!
—————————————————————————————————————————————————-
1) We last spoke to you in February this year, it’s been a while how have you been?
I have been great thanks! It has been quite the year. Since February, I have done about 2 dozen conventions around the US and Canada, filmed a few indie movies, and had fun preparing for next year.
2) I know that ‘Realm’ is progressing nicely, but how would you explain your character and Realm to someone who is not familiar with it yet?
Realm is in the development stages right now. It will be a series of movies based off of the Realm novels by Kayla A. Lambert. The first book Realm: The Blood Moon is out on Amazon. I will be playing Agnes, who is the head witch. Realm is a supernatural/sci-fi drama and my character is a witch who is out for revenge and wants to destroy a small town. It is a unique twist to such a popular genre – vampires, witches, werewolves, demons, etc.
3) I heard a rumour that you may be making a return to ‘The Walking Dead’, is this true?
I’m not sure how that rumor started! I would love to go back if asked. I know that some fans started a petition to bring me back..and with that show you never know. As of right now, there are no plans to go back on though.
4) You’ve been very busy doing conventions, all over America, do you have any lined up for 2016? Also can we expect to see you at any in the UK next year?
The only convention I have lined up so far for 2016 is a con cruise in June of next year. Details are up on my websitewww.amberdawnfox.com  I would love to do more though, especially in the UK. Fans can always contact their local conventions and suggest me..it works some of the time!
5) Finally Halloween and Christmas are fast approaching, do you have a favourite and any possible New Year’s resolutions for 2016?
This year has flown by. For next year, I just want to do my best to balance family and this crazy career journey I am on. It’s not always easy..but most definitely worth it.

An Interview With The Voice Season 5 Finalist Will Champlin

willchamplin

Meet Will Champlin

For my next interview, i decided to do something a little bit different. I reached out to my verified followers and one of the people who got back to me was a guy by the name of Will Champlin. Now as a UK guy this name was not well known to me at first, but after doing a bit of research and getting to know the guy, I found him to be an awesome person and another person I’m proud to call another member of my #SkatFamily.

Will agreed to an anterview, and here we are! Let’s find out a little more about Will Champlin a fast rising star in the music industry.

—————————————————————————————————————————————————-

1) How did you get into music?

I got into music from an early age with the musical household and upbringing.

2) How would you describe your musical style to the casual listener?

My music now is a mix between bluesy-soul pop, rock and Americana styles

3) You are well known to the public after coming third in U.S series 5 of The Voice, how did you find that journey and experience of being on the show?

I felt my experience on the show being very rewarding yet challenging and occasionally stressful. But overall it was an experience that only a few people get once-in-a-lifetime.

4) You grew up in a musical family, how much of an influence did they have on your chosen career?

They don’t have a whole lot of influence I am definitely a rogue soul.

5) I watched your audition and was surprised that no one turned around sooner, what was it like performing on that stage and how did you feel  when 3 of the 4 judges turned around?

I felt a little heavy winter during that audition to be honest, and took me a minute to get to a really killin high note for Blake to turn around starting a chain reaction.

 Who turned around first?

6) You decided to go with Adam and then later on in the series you ended up being stolen by Christina, how would you rate your experiences with both coaches?

I had to plan for whatever cards were dealt, and be prepared for whatever what’s to come, like steals, different coaches and all.

Both experiences turned out really great I learned a lot about vocal stamina and preserving your pipes for performance from Christina mainly, but Adam had a really great vision as the overall performance and digging deep into your voice as well as be entertaining and captivating to your audience.

7) I like yourself have a young child, how have you found juggling being a dad with your career?

She is almost 4 actually, which is still young and is becoming quite a little singer herself as well as other great things, we are very proud of her. We work it out as far as the career thing goes.

8) If you could duet with any one person dead or alive who would it be and why?

Ray Charles most likely.

9) Do you have any tours lined up soon? If so are you going on tour with anyone else and where can we expect to see you play?

I’ve been primarily focused on camping up my YouTube channel and getting some great covers done at the moment. But I will be at NAMM this winter in Anaheim ca. Performing at the Marriott stage on the Saturday of the convention span.

10) What can we expect to see from you in the remaining months of 2015 and into 2016?

I’m figuring that out myself right now.

11) Tell our readers one fun fact about yourself that they may not already know?

They may not know I love snowboarding and haven’t done it in a while and totally miss it.

12) Finally what advice would you have any advice for an upcoming musician?

Adopt the necessary skill set for the art. But don’t forget to Be original and be yourself

—————————————————————————————————————————————————-

There you go readers, Will Champlin.

I for one would definately spend an afternoon listening to his music. Follow him on Twitter he’s https://twitter.com/willchamplin or Facebook on https://www.facebook.com/willchamplinmusic and tell him ‘Skatronixxx sent you!’

An Interview With The Brains Behind ‘Internity’ Joey Adams

joey.png
I don’t think I’ve ever seen Joey not smile! Then again if i had those pearly whites *jealous*
As part of the ongoing promotion I am doing for Joey Adams and ‘Internity’, I thought I’d offer you an interview with the brains of the operation Joey himself!  Incase you need a remidner check out the video below  *hint hint* check out the video!
OMG it’s Deanna Troi and Worf from Star Trek: TNG
As you know from previous interviews and articles, both myself and Joey have a lot of shared interested but I thought I’d give you an oppertunity to get to know him like I know him. He’s an awesome guy, so let’s help make his show a reality! Who knows if I keep promoting him, he may offer me a cameo in an episode haha!
———————————————————————————————————————————————————–
1) How did you get into acting and writing?
I’ve wanted to be an actor probably since birth, but at least for as long as I can remember. I got my SAG card, (the American film actor’s union) in a commercial when I was five. As for writing, I never really intended writing to be my career, I still don’t. It’s just something I do as a hobby and, occasionally, I get other people involved. [laughs]
2) You’re currently working on ‘Internity’, how would you describe your character and the show? Also as ‘Internity’ is your brainchild how did you come up with the idea for the show?
The show is about group of intern doctors at a Portland, Oregon hospital trying to survive “intern hell,” which is the rough patch of a new doctor’s life where they work insane hours and feel like they’ll never get their medical license. It’s a play on words; the “eternity” of being an intern. My character, Dr. Nate, is a twenty-five year-old intern who was just promoted to Chief Intern. The problem with Nate is, although he’s very bright, he’s sort of an overgrown child who hasn’t really matured yet. His emotional development seems to have stunted in primary school. His other problem, he’s fanboy and pop culture junkie. He’s prone to daydreams, night dreams and imagined fantasy scenes which include the real actors from his favorite television programs, films and comic cons in guest star roles. It’s sort of a T.V. fan’s dream really. We’re using this as a device to give us the ability to have, essentially, every actor, character, movie or show we’ve every loved featured on our show! [laughs]
We’re trying to do something new here, which is, we want to make the first actor-created, fan-funded television series ever picked up by a network. As you know, we’re raising money on indiegogo.com. We have some great cast involved, Marina Sirtis from ‘Star Trek: TNG,’ Jim Beaver from ’ Supernatural,’,Carla Jimenez from ‘Desperate Housewives,’ Richard Ruccolo from ’Two Guys, a Girl & a Pizza Place,’ Julie McNiven from ‘Mad Men,’ and our director, Michael Dorn, who’s also from ’Star Trek.’ We’re asking fans to support us by chipping in as much as they can and we’re offering some great rewards on the website for those who back us. So, fans get to be producers on a new television show and get some cool merchandise, too. Plus, I’m sure your readers would appreciate seeing a show about a fanboy. 🙂

I think that’s a pretty awesome line up for a show if you ask me
3) I studied television technology and production, so I know what it’s like being behind the camera as well as in front of it. How do you find it? Do you prefer being onscreen or behind the screen?
Well, you are far better equipped than I am, sir! [laughs] I was a theatre major in New York City. I always wanted to work on Broadway, so film and television, although I was always a fan, was something which never really occurred to me could be done as a profession. I did small parts here and there when I was a child and a few more when I got to New York of course. Needless to say, my technical capabilities are very limited. I will say, people behind the scenes never get the credit they deserve, as I’m sure you know. Actors get the accolades and fanfare, but you have to remember there’s a usually a crew of fifty or more people working very hard to make that actor look good on screen. I directed a short film, which I also wrote, when I was at NYU. It was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done. I will say, personally, I find it much easier in front of the camera. Of course, anyone who’s seen my work might say they prefer to see me behind it!
4) Your parents wanted you to be a Doctor, how have you found the experience on being on a medical set? I could imagine it must be a surreal feeling.
I think you’re referring to the ‘Internity’ cast interview video we did. I was teasing, but it’s true. I think most parents are a bit disappointed when they find out their child wants to pursue a career in the arts. Mine were initially let down, but now they support me. My family is all from the UK. In Britain, theatre and film actors receive a certain degree of honor and respect. It’s not the same in the States unless, perhaps, you’re someone who’s quite famous and successful. When I was growing up, other kids wanted to be doctors, I always wanted to play a doctor. So, I’m extremely excited to take on this role. I’m ecstatic to be working with this amazing cast and I hope fans will turn up and contribute and get us on the screen. ‘Supernatural’ and ‘Star Trek’ are shows known for their devoted, very vocal fans. I was doing the math the other day. I realized if we found about 2,400 fans of either of these shows, combined, around the world, who went onto the Indiegogo website and got our DVD perk, we could make a new show with all of these great actors and many more to. Certainly, there are 2,400 people out there in cyberspace who care, right? Your website probably gets more than that per hour!
We have a really great group, I’m extremely proud to have them involved. We all want to play doctors on TV. [laughs] In seriousness, I think we’re onto something really special here, something you haven’t seen before. My hope is fanboys, fangirls, and, just fans of good television in general, really, won’t miss out on the chance to be a part of this. Marina Sirtis has said on Twitter several times, that, if all of her followers gave just one dollar, we could do this immediately. We have some great ideas and scenes planned for future episodes. You may have heard, there’s an Internet campaign happening now to get the BBC to cast Marina Sirtis as the next Doctor. Therefore, we HAVE to do a ‘Doctor Who’ episode, or Marina will kill me! I believe Julie McNiven mentioned how much she wants to cosplay Amy Pond when you two spoke. We’ve also discussed ’Star Wars,’ ’ Sherlock,’ ‘ Downton Abbey,’ and of course, a ’Supernatural’ themed episode as well. Personally, I want a ‘Being Human’ episode. So, there’s quite a lot to be excited about for the fandom, regardless of which side of the pond they’re on. Now, if the fans will just help us make our pilot, we can go on to make all of those episodes and many more!
5) It took a little bit of digging but I found that you were in a film called ‘Duress’, which is quite a lot different from ‘Internity’, how did you find that experience?
Skat, you must have powerful contacts in very high places! [laughs] That film wasn’t released in the U.S., well done. ’Duress’ was a horror film I had a very small part in a few years ago. It stars Ariel Winter, who’s on the series ‘Modern Family.’ She’s fantastic in everything she’s in, by the way. I took the job, spoiler alert, because I die in the first few minutes. I always wanted to be killed in a horror film! [laughs] It’s a badge of honor for an actor.
The experience was great, but I almost died in real life during shooting, actually. There’s a scene where Sakis Rouvas and Martin Donovan, the male leads, dispose of my “dead” body. I was wrapped up, rather tightly, in this plastic tarpaulin in the middle of the desert. Long story short, I would’ve suffocated if not for the special effects make-up artist, Judy Staats, and wouldn’t be speaking to you now [laughs]. Judy is now a good friend and she’s going to be our make-up artist on ‘Internity.’ The moral is, save my life and I’ll keep you in a job!
6) If you could be in one existing film, what film and character would you choose and why?
There are so many! I mean, I’m a fan of film, which one of the reasons I was drawn to writing a show which allows me to recreate iconic scenes with the actual actors who appeared in them. ‘Star Wars’ is the first which comes to mind. I suppose every young boy wants to be Luke Skywalker. If not Luke, then maybe Marty McFly in ‘Back to the Future.’ Something more recently, would be anything Chris Pratt is in. Mind you, I’d never be cast in any of those roles, but a boy can dream. I know you asked for “one,” I’m getting carried away, but I’m also obsessed with spy movies. I would give anything to be in a Bond film, even if I only played a corpse. Hey, I have experience!
7) If I remember right you were also in Bones, would you want David Boreanaz to make a cameo in Internity? If so, would you prefer Angel or Seeley Booth to make an appearance? Or perhaps a cross of the two? I’d want to see a vampire Seeley Booth for one!
You know, I played an med student on ‘Bones,’ I completely forgot about that. Well, here’s a secret I’m telling only you: I’ve never seen ‘Bones,’ not once. Not even the episode I was in! [laughs] I hope this doesn’t come across as rude, I certainly don’t mean it that way, but I find police procedural dramas to be incredibly boring. I always know who’s guilty within thirty seconds, so I can’t watch them. Therefore, I would say ‘Angel’ David Boreanaz gets my vote.
8) What can we expect to see from you in the remaining months of 2015 and into 2016?
I’m going to make ‘Internity’ if it means I have to sell my organs on the black market! [laughs] So, I’m going to spend a good deal of this year doing everything I can to make this show happen. I believe in it, I adore our cast, I know fans will love this show if they give it a chance. If we’re lucky enough to raise the funds we need, I hope to report back to you in the New Year filming is underway!
I also have a new play out soon, which I wrote, and I might be headed back to Broadway in another show. You’ll be the first to know if it happens.
9) Tell our readers one fun fact about yourself that they may not already know?
The real reason I could never have gone to medical school is I faint at the sight of blood. It’s really embarrassing. I’d like to think of myself as a pretty tough guy, but it’s true. A few times now, I’ve gone to the doctor for a check-up or donated blood or something, and I’ll tell them I can’t look at or see even one drop of blood. They always think I’m making a joke. Inevitably, I see the blood and end up on the floor, out cold.  It’s happened five or more times now. I don’t know if that’s a “fun fact,” but it’s a ridiculous yet true fact! [laughs].
The other thing people might not know about me is, I was a double major. I just finished a Ph.D. in pediatric psychology and I’m currently an intern completing the licensure process. It’s not the same as being a medical intern per se, but I have a pretty good idea of what they go through!
10) Finally what advice would you have any advice for an upcoming actress or actor or writer?
Well, I’ll preface this by saying if you love the arts, I mean REALLY love them- if there is nothing else in your life that would make you happy other than writing or acting, nothing I or anyone else may say will stop you.
Most importantly, you have to get an education.  There is far too much competition to think talent, no matter how great, is enough. It’s simply not. The best actors and writers never stop taking classes- never. To be a brilliant actor or writer, quite literally, takes a lifetime. You mustn’t stop learning and working to improve, ever. Supposing you’ve studied properly and have a strong foundation of training under your belt, I would say the next best advice is to do it. DO anything you can! Write stories on scraps of paper. Create an imagined history for the person sitting next to you on the bus. Buy a used video camera and start recording your own readings, performances or plays. If you’re a shy person or you’re afraid of public speaking, read books out loud to yourself until you’re no longer shy.
Audition for EVERYTHING you can, even if you think you’re wrong for it. Auditioning is a learned skill and it needs constant practice to keep you sharp. Make a YouTube channel and post videos with your friends. Practice creating characters and accents. Pick an accent to work on when you have a day off. Go around town behaving like this character and speaking in this accent. Who cares what others think. This exercise isn’t about fooling anyone, it’s about learning to be fearless and knowing what “fearless” feels like in your gut. Once you leave fear behind, there are no obstacles.
Beyond this, I advocate making your own content. The Internet has become an equalizer. Technology is relatively cheap now, you don’t need to spend a lot to make a quality film or videos. You can stage a play almost anywhere, it doesn’t have to be a proper rental theatre. There are a million ways to get your work out there, take my show for instance. We’re avoiding the typical pitch to a studio route because we want to keep artistic control. You have to be creative and constantly try to think of new ways to do old things.
If you know in the deepest reaches of your soul you MUST do this with your life, then don’t let anyone stop you. Trust me, at some point, even people who love you deeply will tell you to give up. You can’t listen to the voices of the vultures and the naysayers. Get out there and do it no matter what they say. Don’t ask for or seek permission from anyone. If your talent is your gift to this world, then it’s yours to give. You don’t need someone to tell you it’s okay to share it. Trust if you’re following your path, the right people will find you when you’re ready to be discovered. The “believing” is perhaps the most difficult task, but arguably, the most essential.
Allow me to be an example for your readers to remember: I wrote a story I wasn’t sure anyone would like or even understand. I wrote it with a bunch of my favorite actors in mind, all the while assuming they’d never do it in a billion years for a myriad of reasons. I took a risk and sent my script out to those actors. A few I knew a bit, most I didn’t know at all. To my surprise, they all said yes! I’m a complete unknown, but it didn’t matter, because they were drawn to the story. The point being, if you do the work, the right people will eventually find it.
So, my advice is, work as hard as you possibly can. Push yourself farther than you thought you were capable. Keep doing this until you’re entirely convinced you’ve honed your craft, whatever it may be, to the absolute best of your abilities. Once you’ve done this, and you believe in yourself because you know you did the work and put in the hours, nothing- and no one- will, or can, stop you.

An Interview With Supernatural And Mad Men Actress Julie McNiven About Her New Project ‘Internity’

How did Julie not make it into our #WomanCrush Wednesday gallery on skatronixxx.com? We need to fix this!!

As you know I have agreed to help out Joey Adams promote his idea for a new show called ‘Internity’, why did I agree to this? Well to be honest he was nice and asked! Plus after doing a little bit of research, it seems awesome. It was pitched to me as ‘If Scrubs met E.R and went to Comic Con’, let’s be honest I was sold on Comic Con, throwing in Scrubs and E.R. just sweetend the deal!
Over the next couple of weeks you’ll be seeing be seeing interviews with the cast of ‘Internity’, as they try to drum up enough support to get the funding they need to produce the pilot show.  Let’s give you a little spoiler into the mind of Internity creator Joey.
OMG it’s Deanna Troi and Worf from Star Trek: TNG
It’s time to meet the next cast member, it’s a lady who’s been in shows such as Supernatural and Mad Men. It’s Julie McNiven!
———————————————————————————————————————————————————–
1) How did you get into acting?
I started doing community theatre in my hometown.  Very quickly, all of my sports activities were replaced with voice lessons, dance classes and theatre rehearsal.  I knew from a very young  age that this is what I wanted to do and my parents have been extremely supportive.
2) You’re currently working on ‘Internity’, how would you describe your character and the show?
I play the role of Sara Cohen who is a first year intern.  She is smart, empathetic and eager to help…..which sometimes just makes the situation worse.  She is young in many ways, and still trying to figure out how she fits in at Portland Memorial and in the real world.  INTERNITY is a dramedy that centers around Camilla, a 50 year old divorcee making a new start, and Dr. Nate, a young chief intern who daydreams in the worlds of all his favorite tv shows.  I was really impressed with script.  The laughs of Scrubs, the drama of ER with the cleverness of all our favorite sci-fi shows.  If you’re a fan of sci-fi, you will most definitely see lots of mini-reunions in these dream sequences.
3) You appeared in Supernatural as Anna Milton and in Mad Men as Hildy, do you have any interesting stories from your time on the shows?
My biggest memories working on Supernatural are how much laughing I did.  Every day, in between very serious takes, was a lot of laughter.  The boys (Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles) have done an extraordinary job of setting the tone on that set.  They get their work done and have a great time doing it. Mad Men was the show that brought me out to Los Angeles.  It holds a special place in my heart and I feel so lucky to have had 3 years on a show that wowed me week after week.

Julie has been involved in two great shows, if you haven’t seen either SHAME ON YOU!!
4) If you could be in one existing film, what film and character would you choose and why?
Well, I had a baby 9 months ago so I don’t see a lot of movies.  But there lots of Tv shows I’d love to be on!  My husband and I just binge-watched  season 5 of The Walking Dead and I’ve wanted to be on that show for years.  We had very serious discussions about the state of mind each character must be in after killing so many…zombies.
5) What the story behind you dressing up as Bugs Bunny, Sylvester, and Crocodile Cal….don’t ask. ?
Haha!  Summer job.  In the summer I worked at Six flags New England theme park doing their stage shows. Then, off-season I would sometimes play Bugs Bunny or Sylvester at Red Sox and Bruins games.  It was glamorous. 🙂 Ha ha.

This looks like a fun place to work!
6) What can we expect to see from you in the remaining months of 2015 and into 2016?
I’m working on a few projects that are in the early stages.  A short film, Injection with my old SGU buddy David Blue, and a feature film called Mayfly starring the talented Lyndon Smith.  I wrapped Babymoon in July and hopefully that will start the festival circuit in ’16.  That was such a fun film for me because my husband and my son are also in it!  It’s an adventure comedy we shot down in Puerto Rico for a few weeks.  Fun days in the jungle, zip lining with a go pro, motorcycle stunts, pumping breastmilk in the van and wearing a big baby bump only months after I had a real baby bump.  I can assure you, it will be a fun-filled movie.
7) Tell our readers one fun fact about yourself that they may not already know?
Hmmmm…I day dream of moving to New Zealand.  I don’t know what we’d do, but I love it there!
8) Finally what advice would you have any advice for an upcoming actress or actor?
The training never ends because there is always more to learn.  Do something every day for your craft, and just as importantly have a full life outside of your craft. Also, you have to LOVE acting to pursue it.  If you don’t, the endless rejection you’ll receive day after day just won’t be worth it.  Most importantly, just like any career you choose, you have to believe in yourself.

An Interview With Nacho Libre And Raising Hope Actress Carla Jimenez About Her New Project ‘Internity’.

carla
Wow it’s Carla Jimenez! My first interview with an actual celeb, stay cool Skatronixxx *faints*
As you know I have agreed to help out Joey Adams promote his idea for a new show called ‘Internity’, why did I agree to this? Well to be honest he was nice and asked! 1) How did you get into acting?
I started out doing theatre in high school and just continued from there.
2) You’re currently working on ‘Internity’, how would you describe your character and the show to someone who has not watched it before?
I think the best way to describe the show is scrubs meets EVERY TV SHOW REUNION POSSIBLE, but you know…with heart ! 😉 My character doesn’t really take any crap from anybody …except her cat which she loves dearly. But, down deep she has a good heart and cares about people.
3) You appeared in Better Off Ted and Desperate Housewives, do you have any interesting stories from your time on those shows?
I could show you WHICH house on Wisteria lane was actually the PUBLIC RESTROOM for the area…it belonged to one of the lead housewives…
4) I saw online that you have a side business called Pretty Sweet Chocolates, can you tell us a little about this?
It’s just a hobby I do in my spare time. I love making art with chocolate.

Wow that’s chocolate? That’s DAMN impressive!
5) You were in the film Nacho Libre, are you a fan of wrestling? If so who’s your fave?
I’m not particularly a fan of wrestling, but I loved working on NACHO LIBRE. It was a great experience and I loved everyone involved.

6) If you could be in one existing film, what film and character would you choose and why?

I would be in Shawshank Redemption…I understand there would be no part for me as its a male dominated movie, but it’s one of my favorites and I thought the acting was SUPERB. Oh, but when I was younger…I TOTALLY wanted to be Annie!! She got to sing, & shacked up with a billionaire, who WOULDN’T want that? 😉
7) I saw online that you’re also a zumba dancer, what’s it like and are you willing to give us any pointers?
Yes, you should ALWAYS wear Zumba approved dance shoes…your ankles will thank you for it in the long run!
8) What can we expect to see from you in the remaining months of 2015 and into 2016?
I just did an episode of 2 Broke Girls, and I currently recur on the Netflix tv show The Adventures Of Puss n Boots. Also, I’m in Canada right now shooting a kid-friendly movie called PUPSTAR which should be coming out next year.

Skatronixxx Jr loves ‘Puss In Boots’

9) Tell our readers one fun fact about yourself that they may not already know?
I have 2 cats Joey & Max (my kitty Joey is no way related to the actor Joey Adams who wrote Internity…although they do have similar traits) .
10) Finally what advice would you have any advice for an upcoming actress or actor?
Be kind to others, be kind to yourself, let it be your passion, but don’t let it rule your life.

A Catch Up With Jet Luckhurst Ahead Of His New Record Launch

jetalbum
Loving the artwork
Regular followers of me on other media platforms and people who know me in real life, know I support my friends. This is proven by my previous interview with Jet Luckhurst as soon as the skatronixxx.com site when live (you can read his previous interview that was done at the start of the year on the site). You know what I’ve been upto since then but what has Jet been upto? I was lucky enough to catch up with him before his triumphant return to his old stomping ground of Wiltshire for the release of his new EP ‘Connecting The Dots’.

——————————————————————————————————————————————————–

1) We last spoke to you in February this year, it’s been a while how have you been?
Very well thanks yeah, I’ve spent the last 6 months either on the road performing or in the studio recording.
2) How did the tour with T’Pau go? Do you have any interesting stories to share with us?
The tour was a great success! My first as a semi established solo artist and certainly my first supporting musical royalty, it can be daunting supporting a number one selling artist with just you and your guitar. The hightlight of the tour was the Redhill show in Surrey at the Harlequin. I had an entire theatre singing along to one of my final songs, it gave me goosebumps. I remember heading to the front of the venue to get some water and finding a queue from on end of the entrance hall to the other waiting for me, I was shocked! Subsequently I completely sold out of CD’s and merchandise before T’Pau had even hit

You may not remember the name T’Pau but you’ll know this song

3) You have a new album coming out soon, what’s the album called and how would you describe it?
I do, it’s a 6 track EP called ‘Conencting The Dots’ and ut’s very up tempo, with obvious country, pop, rock and acoustic influences.
I spent 3 months in and out of the studio recording it and I’m really happy with the finished product. The digital release will be announced shortly after the launch of the the physical copy.
I’ve listened and it’s AWESOME good work buddy 🙂
4) You’re been studying at university how’s it been going?
I’m studying for a degree in songwriting in Brighton and whilst enjoyable studying your passion can be a difficult balancing act. I try and keep my own musical journey as seperated from my studies as possible, imagine working in a fish and chip shop, after a while you’ll probably end up disliking fish and chips because you spend every waking moment with them, I don’t want that to happen with my music!
5) Do you have any tours lined up soon? If so are you going on tour with anyone else and where can we expect to see you play?
I have lots of shows coming up over the next couple of months including the anticipated launch of my new EP, keep an eye on my facebook music page for details of when and where. The music video for my new single ‘My Disguise’ is just around the corner so stay tuned.
———————————————————————————————————————————————————–
There you go readers, a quick catch up with Jet Luckhurst! You know me I’m not one for saying you MUST do this and you MUST do that, but please check him out at least once you won’t regret it.
Follow him on Twitter he’s https://twitter.com/jetluckhurst or Facebook on https://www.facebook.com/JetLuckhurst and tell him ‘Skatronixxx sent you!’
Don’t worry this won’t be the last we see of Jet on Skatronixxx.com we’ve got another interview lined up for a couple of months time.

An Interview With Top Fantasy Author Anthony Ergo

aergo

Another one of the people who I wanted to interview for skatronixxx.com was my good friend and up and coming fantasy author and musician Anthony Ergo. We met at London Film and Comic Con, when myself and my author client RJ Truman were sat on a table next to him. I thought he was an awesome guy and he’s agreed to do a quick interview with skatronixxx.com
………………………………………………………..

1) How did you get into writing?

I have created stories, characters and worlds since before I could write (thanks to Lego, which I still bust out occasionally!) I started writing at school and won several short story and poetry contests. In recent years I decided to turn my stories into published works and I’ve been addicted to it ever since.
2) How would you describe your writing style to the casual reader?
Fast-paced, adventure-filled young adult thrillers with plot twists that you won’t see coming.
3) If I remember right, you mentioned that you had written children’s books previously
what prompted you to move into writing for young adults?
Dystopia started out as a children’s horror novel but I soon realised that its themes and intensity were more suited to young adult readers. I find the young adult audience to be some of the most passionate readers out there and I was encouraged to stay within the genre and write the follow-up to the first book.Hysteria  was released on Halloween last year and plans are in place for a third book in the Dystopia series.
4) You’re also the bassist in a band called ‘Signed In Crimson’ do you find that you take inspiration from your music for your writing or vice versa?
There is definitely a connection between the two. My band is fronted by a young female vocalist who writes some powerful lyrics. I wrote Dystopia at the same time that we were writing and recording our debut album so there was a natural crossover. I have also been able to use some transferable skills, such as creating music videos and book trailers.
A video of Anthony’s band ‘Signed in Crimson’
5) Perhaps your most well-known book to date is ‘Dystopia’, how you would describe this book to someone who has not read it yet?
Dystopia is a genre-blending paranormal/dystopian novel. It’s about a superstitious young girl and how her life is affected by a catastrophic world-wide blackout which she is at the centre of (…that’s my attempt at a spoiler-free teaser!)

The front cover to Anythony’s book ‘Dystopia’
6) If a film was made of ‘Dystopia’ who would you like to play the main character and why?
Chloe Grace Moretz (Kickass) would be a nice fit for the role of Sasha. I think she could show both the character’s vulnerable side as well as discovering her inner-resilience.
7) We first met at London Film and Comic Con in 2014, do you do lots of conventions and can we hope to see you at LFCC again this year?
I do a lot of school visits but the 2014 London Film and Comic Con was my first convention. I decided to give it a try because it was the inaugural ‘Young Adult Literature Convention’ as part of the same event. It was great to meet so many people, both readers and fellow authors, and I’d definitely be interested in attending again.
8) What can we expect to see from you in 2015?
After releasing Hysteria, I decided to take a break from the Dystopia series. I’m actually working on a brand new novel called Plague Risers. It’s a zombie fiction with a twist, set in the Middle Ages. I studied the medieval period as part of my English and History degree and I want to recreate that authentic world. After reading the opening chapters, a friend described it as “Game of Thrones meets The Walking Dead”.

A preview of the front cover to Anythony’s  upcoming book ‘Plague Risers’
9) Tell our readers one fun fact about yourself that they may not already know?
As well as writing and music, my other pastime is playing as a hockey goalkeeper and having rock hard balls blasted at me!
10) Finally what advice would you have any advice for an upcoming writers?
Set yourself realistic goals, no matter how modest, and stick to them. I have a target for how many words I write per day, chapters per week, etc. Some days are more productive than others (and often I’ll re-read a previous day’s writing only to delete it or completely rework it). Lots of people have ideas for a story and many will start to write a book, but not all of them manage to finish. For me, it’s all about completing the first draft. Go with the idea that you’re most passionate about and it will never feel like a chore.
