Backstreet’s Back Alright…..

wp-1467197405820.jpg

This Summer boy band Backstreet Boys from the late 1990s, are releasing a brand new album. Recently the boy band has been making a few appearances that could quite possibly be seen as somewhat strategic. They have preformed on various TV shows, they sung at the Miss USA 2016 pageant and have also announced a Las Vegas residency. Nick Carter told Entertainment Tonight that the “Backstreet Boys have signed a deal with Live Nation to do a “test run” of nine shows in Las Vegas for what could become a permanent residency in the future.”

Two of the band members Nick Carter and Brian Littrell recently teased of a collaboration with the talented country duo Florida Georgia Line on each of their instagram accounts on the 27th June, announcing a single set for a late August release on the country duo’s album. Carter wrote on his instagram “Also working on the new Backstreet street album as well. Get Ready!!!”. Its been 3 years since the bands last album “In a World Like This”.

The Backstreet Boys rose to fame with their debut international album, Backstreet Boys (1996). The band have sold over 130 million records worldwide, making them the best-selling boy band in history, and one of the world’s best-selling music artists and are the first group since Sade to have their first nine albums reach the top 10 on the Billboard 200. They also have a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, which they received on April 22, 2013.

It will be interesting to see how well the new album will be received and if they have the same sound, or will we hear something new and fresh from the boy band? We will have to wait until late August to find out.

Japan Gives Us The ‘Ghostbusters’ Music Video We Deserve (Sorry Fall Out Boy!)

ghostbusters-japanese-video

Everyone who knows me know that I love Ghostbusters, I mean what’s not to love? Comedy genuis coupled with supernatural elements, that’s two of my favourite things in life. Sadly if you’re a long term reader on the site, you’ll also know my thoughts on the latest Ghostbusters film and if you don’t you can read it here .

Now don’t get me wrong it’s not because they are female, it’s more the team behind the scenes. I’m sorry but Paul Feig is not the right man, to reboot this franchise, they should have stuck with Ivan Reitman. A film this iconic needed ties to the past, to make sure it would be a success, you can’t reboot a franchise without any original ties. That’s like remaking Indiana Jones without Harrison Ford and Steven Spielberg/George Lucas but hey I digress.

I have to hand it to the marketing team behing Ghostbusters 3, they are really trying to win us over. The marketing team in Japan have well and truly nailed it. First it was the Ghostbusters themed menu at J.S. Burgers Cafe that you can read about in my previous article here. Now Japanese 4 comedians (Tomochika, Oniyakko Tsubaki, Naomi Watanabe and Shizuyo Yamasaki) have released thier own version of the song paying homeage to the past.

Sadly the marleting tema for the rest of the world did not follow suit. Sorry Fall Out Boy although you are one of my favourite bands of all time, your song sucked, yes it sucked! Just to be fair I’ll include thier video below, so if you haven’t heard it you can check it out.

Now I don’t blame you, I mean you’ve sampled ‘The Munsters’ in your songs before so I know if you would have been allowed you would have given us the song we deserve. Sadly you couldnt, and luckily for us someone stepped up to the plate. The song even has me a little bit excited about the film, now why couldn’t we have been treated to a Japanese reboot? I know they would have got it right! It’s not only me it seems the rest of the internet agrees as well.

Still don’t believe? Still anti-Ghostbusters 3? Well still am I but you gotta admit this song is pretty damn awesome!!

Kanye West’s Controversial New Video

west famous

Kanye West has released his video to his song Famous. The video is a bit controversial to say the least. In the video many famous people are in bed with Kanye. So the following people appear to be in bed with Kanye; Kim Kardashian, Bill Cosby, Caitlyn Jenner, George W. Bush and Chris Brown to name a few.

Several media question who is really in bed with him and who and what is photoshopped. Because it is save to say that with some we have our doubts. Some of the alleged people who are in the video, George W. Bush and Donald Trump, have spoken out that they are not in the video. Not really surprised as Kanye does not have the bestest relationship with some of them. Kanye himself tweeted that he is expecting to be sued, and that he is waiting. I wouldnt be surprised if it did happen. Not at all. In my opinion he would have been asking for it.

*   WARNING. Video below is uncensored, so there is nudity. *

I am not going to wonder as to why Kanye would even make such a video. The one thing that bothers me a bit is to why the females have to be full frontal nude but the men are not. Come on we live in a world of equality. Same standard for the men. (yes I am a female.) Although I must admit some people I don’t want to see naked, front or back.

Now as for the music in the video I can be very short about it. I hate it. I don’t call that music. That monotonues babbling of the background girl who is in the front on the track. I would rather listen to a toddler hitting on pots and pans with spoons.

So a wise man once told me, if you have nothing nice to say then keep your mouth shut. I am taking that advice to heart and I shall say no more about Famous the latest Kanye West video.

Judge the music yourself. Love it or hate it. Luckily taste differs per person and be glad for that. Life would be boring otherwise.

Stu’s Track Of The Week 24/06/16

rsz_6361361

This weeks track of the week comes from Los Angles Hardcore Punk band The Bronx and there track Heart Attack American the self titled album released in 2003.

Simon Ridley, drummer of Brisbane, Australia band DZ Deathrays identified the album as one of seven that changed his life and described it as “a psych up album for nights when I’m too tired but need to party.” Ridley further explained: “Every song on this album is fucking rad!”

I have chosen this song due to the UK’s recent vote on exiting the EU and that the second set of lyrics from the song ring true with me and the vote I made.

There is no revolution
And I’m done doing things I don’t want to do
There is no restitution
And I’m done

I’m done living in this decline

I’m done watching you redesign
Come on baby, let’s go walk out the door
I’m done showing up to the fucking work
Taking orders from a fucking bitch
I’m in the chair now go ahead and flip the switch

I’m done doing things I don’t want to do
And I’m sick and tired of setting up to be like you
Fucked up, thrown out and overdue
I’m fucking done

There is no revolution
There is no revolution
There is no revolution

One of the producers on the album Eric Bellinger has compared Flawed to Usher Confessions (2004) album, saying that flawed is “more urban” than Usher’s last album Looking 4 Myself (2012). This album is R&B focused and is more of what Usher wanted to do in his heart, rather than previous albums that were based on what people wanted to hear, RCA Records CEO Peter Edge described Usher’s new album as “one of his best records.”

No Limit‘ the first single from the new album Flawed was released on 9th June this year and features Young Thug. Instantly loved it, you can check it out for yourself below.

The second single ‘Crash‘ was released the following day 10th June 16. Definitely has the old school/early usher vibe to it. I am loving it!

Confirmed tracks on Flawed are:

  • Believe Me” (produced by Mike Will Made It)
  • Slow Motion” (Feat. Dr. Dre)
  • Clueless
  • Cuz We Can
  • Crash
  • No Limit” (Feat. Young Thug)
  • Hard to Love
  • Cards
  • I Don’t Mind” (Feat. Juicy J)
  • Good Kisser
  • She Came to Give It to You” (Feat. Nicki Minaj)
  • Don’t Look Down” (Martin Garrix Feat. Usher)
  • Chains” (Feat. Nas and Bibi Bourelly)

Given the quality of the first two singles I am eagerly awaiting the release of Flawed, I don’t think we will be disappointed at all, the man is talented! There is no firm date on the release of Flawed except for July 2016.
