Lucifer SN2-EP4 ‘Lady Parts’

670

Last week Lucifer and Decker investigate a gruesome murder after a video of the crime surfaced on social media, and Mamma Morningstar is to live as Charlotte Richards  as her punishment handed down by Lucifer. We also seen Amenadiel really struggling with the loss of his powers.

SN2-EP4 ‘Lady Parts’

It looks like Lucifer (Tom Ellis) and Decker (Lauren German) have another serial killer on their hands this week as they investigate the death of two young women. Lucifer is distracted while in session with Dr Martin (Rachael Harris), he is playing Sex Words with Friends on his first mobile phone with Maze (Lesley-Ann Brandt). Dr Martin tells Lucifer, his distraction could be a barrier for his problems, but Lucifer hears that distraction will help from having to deal with his problem with mamma dearest.

lucifer-2-04-lady-parts-siri

Lucifer isn’t the only one who is distracted and you can see that when they arrive at the crime scene, Lucifer senses that Decker needs to get out and live a little. Charlotte (Tricia Helfer) looking like a Stepford wife is a little frazzled as she throws her failed spicy chicken casserole in the bin, Charlotte tells Maze she has learnt that having sex with her husband renders him mute. But even though it’s worse than hell she gets to be close to her sons.

Ella (Aimee Grarcia) figured out that one of the young girls Daria died from mandrake poisoning. With Decker and Dan (Kevin Alejandro) getting a divorce, she will need to find a new place to live, which Lucifer finds as the perfect distraction and makes some calls on Decker’s behalf. The duo arrives at the house of the last person Daria had spoken with, they are met at the door by a man brandishing a butcher knife and covered in blood… It’s ok he was making sausages. Decker also notices how distracted Lucifer  in frustration he calls Maze to ask her to Chloe out for drinks in hopes it distracts her.

Amenadiel (D.B. Woodside) stops by Dr Martins to return a book, she can tell something is wrong and as a friend, she offers to listen. However, he tells Dr Martin that his problem is physical, that things aren’t working like they used to. Dr Martin thinks that Amenadiel is talking about Amenadiel Jr not standing to attention and tells him to loosen up, if only that was the problem it would be differently easier to fix .

lucifer-204_scn20_bs0115_hires1

Decker and Lucifer find Daria’s roommate dead in Daria’s apartment with the same triangle stamp on her wrist. Decker rocks up at Lux and wants to go over the lab report, Maze suggests that she and Decker go to the bar that the roommates had been to. It quickly turns into a girls night, and Dr Martin suggests they all share a secret to break the ice. We learn Dr.Martin was a phone sex operator, Ella stole cars, we already know Maze was forged in hell and Decker drops the divorce bomb.

lucifer-season-2-episode-4-500x333

Decker and Lucifer figure out that Daria’s neighbour Lily is responsible for the girl’s deaths.  Maze tells Lucifer that she and Decker are going to be roommates, Lucifer is convinced all the women is his life are ganging up on him. Amenadiel asks Lucifer what he asked their father for in exchange for bringing their mother back to hell. Amenadiel points out that Lucifer hasn’t fulfilled his part of the deal, and Decker’s life could be in grave danger. However, Lucifer doesn’t believe their father would be interested in one little soul….. Decker is driving while talking to a landlord about an apartment, when she is suddenly hit by another car.

Fresh Friday’s Featured Artist This Week Is DJ-Z!

It’s Friday and that can only mean two things, One, the weekend is almost here and two, it’s Fresh Friday!! Fresh Friday’s feature different indie artists, bands and musicians each week. We are mixing things up here at Skatronixxx Music and this week for the first time Fresh Friday’s Featured Artist is DJ-Z

img_0917

DJ-Z is a female DJ from Guam and is a DJ for JR Productions based in Utah. DJ-Z has been spinning for JR Productions for 5 years, you can also find her spinning at Fahrenheit Lounge in Layton, UT. DJ-Z was kind enough to take time out of her busy schedule to do a Q & A with me this week, check it out below.

DJ-Z Fresh Friday Q&A

Presh: When did you start DJing – and what or who were your  early passions and influences?

DJ-Z: My father started a production company that specialises in mobile DJ services about  5 years ago and I have been in his circuit since. My family introduced me to music at a very young age. Both sides of my family (Mom & Dad) are musically inclined so it’s been inherent in me. My father and uncle were in a band and I used to sit in and listen to them rehearse all the time. My mom would be listening to the latest music; playing VH1 and MTV in the background. When I visit my grandparents, my uncles would be outside tricking their trucks to old school hip hop, 80’s funk and island reggae. That being said, my family plays a strong influence on why I’m a DJ today. On a personal level, music has always been my way of escape and expanding my imagination.

P: Where do you usually spin?

DJ-Z: I currently spin at Fahrenheit Lounge in Layton, UT; it’s about 25 miles north of Salt Lake City. It’s super chic with a great vibe! I also spin for private events as well.

img_0918

P: What are currently your main challenges as a DJ? What is it about DJing, compared to, say, production your own music, which makes it interesting for you?

DJ-Z: My current challenge is building my mixing skills. I’m in the process of attending seminars to hone the craft down. I love performing and try to utilise that enthusiasm to get the crowd going. I see myself as the driver taking the audience for a ride. Kind of like a storyteller. That’s why crowd reading skills are important, however, my primary objective is to satisfy my sound and the rest follows.

P: What  do you usually start with when preparing for a set?

DJ-Z: I start  out with easy listening music, anything chill with a groovy tempo. I feel that starts any event out well. I also see what’s hot in today’s music and do my research in some underground/indie tracks. I love spreading the love and finding a hot track that isn’t mainstream. There is so much great music out there that needs to get exposed, and of course, I love remixes!

img_0919

P: When there’s more music than one can possibly take in, it’s becoming increasingly hard to know what constitutes an original and a remake anymore. what’s your opinion on the importance of roots, traditions, respecting originals and sources?

DJ-Z: It’s definitely tough to differentiate what’s original and what is not. I believe we all pay tribute to roots and traditions as we spin or compose. Putting your original spin on a classic beat and seeing where it goes is great. However, other artists most especially the greats work so hard at putting their own original work together, therefore, respect is crucial; alway credit the source.

P: What makes you decide to play a particular record during one of your sets? Is there a criteria other than pure subjectivity, for selecting what to play at a gig?

DJ-Z: I always have a set prepared specifically to the nature of the event. No matter the event, I ensure my tracks are fresh and have a great beat. I feel a lack of beats can kill your set. In my opinion, a DJ has to feel his/her music. Anything I can move to and excites me, the crowd will feed off of. Yet based on experience; sticking to your set 100% doesn’t work all the time. If there is a track in my set that’s not exciting my crowd, I improvise and crowd-read.

Lucifer SN2-EP3 ‘Sin-Eater’

670

Welcome back to another episode recap of the devil we love Lucifer. Keeping with tradition let’s have a quick recap of last week’s episode –

SN2-EP2 “Liar, Liar, Slutty Dress on Fire.

Last week Lucifer’s mother, Charlotte, turns up at the scene of a grizzly murder pleading innocence, Lucifer is hesitant to believe her tale. Lucifer, not wanting to leave her home alone, he instructs Maze to babysit her – but under no circumstances is Maze to torture her, which buys Lucifer some time to investigate the case with Chloe

lucifer-203_scn2_mc0204_hires2

Lucifer SN2-EP3 “Sin-Eater”

This week Lucifer (Tom Ellis) and DetChole Decker (Lauren German) are called in to investigate a murder after a video of the gruesome crime surfaced on social media. When a second video appears they quickly realise they have a serial killer who likes to punish people, which immediately intrigues our devil, while at the same time it makes him question his own need to punish people. We also see a friendship starting between CSI Ella (Amiee Garcia) and Lucifer this week, as the bond over the murder victim’s roasted crotch.

Best line of the episode…”Do not touch the charred crotch, Lucifer.”

The investigation leads them to a website “Wobble” a competitor of Facebook, where both of the victim videos and the humiliation video were posted and at which one of the victims worked. Decker and Lucifer believe one of the moderators have had enough of the horrible clips and has now turned Vigilante. The website uses content moderators to screen all posted videos for inappropriate material; which we learn the head of the company Lelia (Robin Givens) who has been helping Decker with her investigation used to be a moderator. So, of course, Decker and Lucifer immediately suspect head of the company is responsible

lucifer-2-03-sin-eater-do-not-touch-the-charred-crotch-1024x576

Maze (Lesley-Ann Brandt) and Dr Martin (Rachael Harris) are having drinks at Lux when Mamma Morningstar (Tricia Helfer) arrives, Maze’s anger at Charlotte is noticed by Dr Martin and encourages Maze to talk to Lucifer about the issue, but instead Maze leaves to speak to Amenadiel (D.B. Woodside). Charlotte pushes Lucifers buttons when she questions why he still labels himself a punisher, “it’s what I do. It’s  what I have always done” he replies. She tells him no,  this is what your father always wanted you to do. Is Lucifer still sub-consciously still trying to impress and win over father’s approval? Lucifer gets his devil eyes on, but Charlotte doesn’t even blink.

Amenadiel is having a pity party for one, drinking wine and eating takeout, Maze knocks on the door he quickly cleans up with a dust buster, not wanting maze to discover he is losing his divinity, however, she thinks he is cleaning up after having a lady friend over. She asks him so go talk to Lucifer and stop him from seeing the “new woman” in his life. Amenadiel arrives at Lux looking for  Lucifer but instead finds the woman Maze was talking about, she briefly plays a human, saying that she just want to get closer to her sons, but eventually  Charlotte admits who she is and that she just wants her family back, she doesn’t want to be sent back to hell but if he must then she is ready to go. Except we know that would be an impossible task to complete.

lucifer-season-2-episode-3-photos-sin-eater-12-1024x682

Decker and Lucifer can’t find Leila, but then a message comes through that Leila will kill herself live on the air on Wobble. Decker and Lucifer follow ha hunch that it will go down at Wobble and head to Wobble HQ, they find Leila tied up and recording a video with the HR guy Raymond (Vik Sahay) recording it. Lelia is doused in petrol and Raymond is holding a lighter so Decker can’t shoot him without blowing them all up. As Raymond dropped the lighter she sets off the fire extinguishing system. Turns out Raymond enjoyed seeing people beg for forgiveness.

Chloe and Dan (Kevin Alejandro) talk about the camping trip, Chloe said earlier they couldn’t go on the trip because it was unfair to give Trixie (Scarlett Estevez)false hope of the family being together again, Dan agrees they shouldn’t go on the trip and that they are both better apart for Trixie’s sake, and it’s time they get a divorce. Lucifer returns to Lux and is relieved to find mum hasn’t been sent back to hell, Lucifer a man of his word hands down his punishment to his mother, she must live out her time on Earth as Charlotte Richards, the human. Leaving Lux,  Charlotte walks down a dodgy street and gets mugged. When he struggles with her, she throws him, with little effort against that wall. She is surprised at her new strength and walks away with a strut and clearly pleased with herself. I think Mamma Morningstar is going to be trouble with a capital T!

American Horror Story: Roanoke “Chapter 4”

I’m back! Did you miss me? Before we get down and dirty with Chapter 4, a huge shout out and thank you to Thisonesmartgirl for taking the reins and reviewing last week’s episode while i was in the hospital, I really appreciate your help, you’re a star! Right, shall we take a look at where we left the Millers last week.

Roanoke “Chapter 3” Recap

While searching for Flora (Saniyya Sidney) Lee’s (Angela Bassett) ex-husband is found dead. Shelby (Sarah Paulson) suspects Lee and the security cameras show that she followed him out of the house during the night. The hillbilly family vanishes, leaving their two feral sons behind. A psychic by the name of Cricket (Leslie Jordan), claims he is able to locate Flora, and Lee folks out a hefty $25,000 in hopes that he can find her daughter. This isn’t the first time this has happened to Lee, however she is very reluctant to discuss the disappearance of her first daughter, that happened many years earlier. Cricket reveals the Priscilla is a dead 16th-century child, and their house and surrounding land are haunted by spirits led by the “The Butcher“, formerly Thomasyn White (Kathy Bates), the first lady of the Roanoke Colony. However, the colonists rebelled against Thomasyn in her husband’s absence and left her for dead. Thomasyn in desperation give her soul to a mysterious woman, and violently retook control of the colony, forcing them to relocate to the property, that the Millers now own. Matt (Cuba Gooding, Jr.) disappears and Shelby finds him copulating with the same mysterious woman, however, Matt doesn’t recall this event and as they argue the police arrive to arrest Lee, who were tipped off by Shelby.

Roanoke “Chapter 4”

Matt (Cuba Gooding, Jr.) and Shelby (Sarah Paulson) argue about his encounter with the mysterious horned woman, but he still doesn’t remember anything. Shelby prepares to shower when she is attacked by the pig man, who is able to materialise in different places around the house. The pig man chases Matt and Shelby around the house, slashing at them, then suddenly the pig man is struck from behind by Elias Cunningham (Denis O’Hare). When pig man gets back up Cunningham raises his hands and banishes the half man half pig with the word “Croatoan”. Shelby asks Elias what Croatoan is, and he describes it as a word of dark power, he tells them he has been the house’s guardian for years, but was unable to afford it before the Millers brought it at auction.

Elias shows the Millers his records of the historic owners of the house, including the Chen family in 1973. The Chen’s tried to protect themselves with folk magic, however, it was no match for the butcher and her group, who slaughtered them. The first to disappear was Edward Phillipe Mott, who built it in 1792. Matt sees the Jane sisters Miranda (Maya Rose Berko) and Bridget (Kristen Rakes) in the clippings, Elias details how the ghosts told him about the nurses’ sacrifice at the hands of The Butcher. In 1952, three hunters turned their guns on each other and blew themselves away, the history goes on and on, showing a distinct pattern of the same lunar cycle in October: the dying grass moon. This is when the deaths and disappearances are in the same 6 day period.

Elias insists they need to leave since the cycle starts that night, but the Miller won’t leave until they find Flora. They set out to find Priscilla (Estelle Hermansen) in the woods (the dead girl who Flora played with), they encounter the horned woman again and Shelby gives chase. Shelby is quickly being surrounded by the dead previous occupants, she tries to banish them using the word “Croatoan” her effort is in vain. Elias pleads with Priscilla to release Flora when The Butcher’s pack arrives and Elias is shot to death by arrows, the Millers run for their lives back to the house, to find Cricket (Leslie Jordan) waiting.

Cricket feels the Flora is still alive, but The Butcher is no longer willing to negotiate, and with the lunar season upon them, she is in a position of strength. Cricket is shaken after further parlay, this time with the horned woman named “Scathach(Lady Gaga). As a negotiation tactic, Cricket offers the horned women Matt for her pleasure. She takes Cricket back in time through memory, to the Lost Colony of Roanoke, a community whose bounty was dependent on human sacrifice. The colony objected to the sacrifices, and AmbroseThe Butchers son (Wes Bentley) led a rebellion. Under the guise of a special communion of repentance, The Butcher poisoned them all and stabbed her own son, killing the entire community and letting their souls to the land. The Butcher offered herself to Scathach, by killing her, the dark sacrament was now complete.

Cricket relays what he experienced to the Miller’s and leaves  for his hotel to get prepared for the night’s battle, hours later Cricket had still not returned and the Millers had both fallen asleep while waiting,  when Matt is woken by whispers, he follows them to the cellar. Matt finds Scathach waiting for him in a candlelit cellar – very romantic, Matt seems to be under some kind of spell and is unable to resist her advances and we learn, that Scathach was once, an English woman who crossed centuries before, and she became a new immortal, a fusion of pagan pantheons.

ahs-recap-s6-e6

The Butcher finds Flora and is going to sacrifice her in front of the Miller’s, but Priscilla distracts The Butcher and Flora are able to escape to Matt and Shelby.  The Butcher has another human she can sacrifice, her pack  brings Cricket out before her, he was captured when he chased after Flora on his way back to his hotel room. The Butcher proceeds to gut Cricket like a fish as the Millers watch on helplessly,  Ambrose then assists his mother as they disembowel Cricket, she then points to the Millers with her meat cleaver, as if to say your next…..
