A reimagined Tv show of the horror classic The Exorcist has been order to pilot by Fox.

The one-hour pilot will follow two priest as they battle a demonic possession with thewrap describing the new series as an “reinvention” of William Peter Blatty’s 1971 novel.

The novel was originally adapted for the screen by William Friedkin in 1973 which spawn a number of failed sequels.

Fox’s show will be written by Jeremy Slater (Fantastic Four) who will also serve as executive producer alongside David Robinson, James Robinson and Barbara Wall.

The Exorcist will join a growing list of classic horror films receiving the small screen treatment, with the novel also getting a big-screen reboot in the near future.
