Sylvester Stallone may be heading to Tv after a televisual series based on his iconic franchise Rambo found a home with Fox ‘after lengthy negotiations.’

The new series title Rambo: New Blood, will follow John Rambo and his son J.R, an ex-navy SEAL, as they try to work together with the show exploring their ‘complex relationship.’ With the character of Rambo playing a major role, it is expected that Stallone will reprise his famed role as the Vietnam war vet but as yet that isn’t confirmed. However, with the man himself serving as executive producer on the project, it would be remised for the action star to not once again don the bandanna.

This isn’t the only Stallone-centric film franchise to hit the small screen however with media outlets reporting earlier this year that The Expendables will spin-off on to Tv after the poorly received third sequel failed to set cinema’s aflame last year. The show will also see Stallone serve as executive producer alongside the franchise’s producer Avi Lerner and NCIS’s Shane Brennan, who will also serve as the series show-runner.

With films such as Ghostbusters, Power Rangers and even Star Wars: The Force Awaken’s looking to tap into movie-goers sense of nostalgia. It looks as if Stallone may be cornering the market of nostalgia for his own franchises on the small screen.

Star Trek Writer Admits Khan Twist Was A Mistake

Before Star Trek Into Darkness was released, Benedict Cumberbatch’s casting in JJ. Abrams sequel to his reboot of the original franchise. Was perhaps cinema’s worst kept secret, even though the filmmakers at the time wouldn’t admit to the actors casting as the infamous villain Khan.

‘When we did Star Trek Into Darkness for example, we decided that we weren’t going to tell people that Benedict Cumberbatch was playing Khan’ explained writer Damon Lindelof. ‘And that was a mistake, because the audience was like, We know he’s playing Khan. That was why it was a mistake. But J.J. [Abrams] is telling us nothing about the new Star Wars movie and we love it. I’ve not come across a single person who’s like, I wish I knew a little bit more. We are like, ‘Thank God he’s protecting us from all the things that will be revealed in the movie theater.’

Star Wars: The Force Awakens director Abrams echo similar sentiments back in 2013 when asked about the mystery surrounding the casting: ‘The truth is I think it probably would have been smarter just to say upfront, ‘This is who it is . It was only trying to preserve the fun of it, and it might have given people more time to acclimate and accept that’s what the thing was.’

With the third sequel, Star Trek Beyond, currently in production, director Justin Lin (Fast & Furious, True Detective) will be hoping for a better reaction to his adventure than the previously critically maligned Into Darkness. With fan favourites Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto returning to their roles as James T. Kirk and Spock. Star Trek Beyond is due to hit theatres July 22, 2016.
