They currently have a campaign through the crowdfunding site Tugg. Tugg is similar to Kickstarter in that you won’t be charged till the goal is met. What your are purchasing is a ticket to the movie at a theatre in your area, and the film will not show there unless enough tickets are sold.

But as he matches the brutality occurring in the prison, Sullivan is forced to come face to face with his sanity and his own horrifying past. “…a chilling experience inside death row, where murderers, rapists and pedophiles become victims.”- Barbara Torretti, DARKVEINS “…pulls no punches to bring to life a psychotic world.”- William Meeker, TFK’s WEB OF INDIE HORROR AND SCIENCE FICTION “Although there is torturing in it, there is more plot and other elements that dig much deeper, both into the story and characters than just trying to gross out your audience with sadistic torture scenes. …there’s more to it than that and that’s what separates this from most films of this type.” – Andrew Peters, KINKY HORROR GOON REVIEW

Alterna has also just announced special guests that will be at screenings across the United States:

Croak #2 Review

croak2-1

Croak #2 proves my point that I made in my review of issue #1. You cannot say that issue #1 of a comic has to blow you away to stick with the title. While it’s awesome when the first issue exceeds your expectations there, are many different paced stories that deserve more than 1 issue of your time and money. Once again I’m a firm believer in 3 issues, or I’m done with the title.

After the great ending of issue 1, we now see the aftermath in issue 2. We are introduced to the mystery in the forest, but not before a prank goes a little too far. As usual, accidents are bound to happen, and accusations and confusion among friends are always guaranteed in dark tree-filled areas. Things get a little stranger for our group of friends when one of them goes missing.

page02.jpg

Croak #2 is quite an improvement from its debut issue. With the set up out of the way writer, Cody Andrew Sousa has more freedom to pick up the pace and tension. Once again this issue makes you want the next one which is what a good comic should do. While this story may feel very familiar to veteran horror fans, I suspect some twists and turns are coming shortly in this series.

Francesco Iaquinta‘s art has improved, it looks more polished than the debut issue to me. Perhaps he’s gotten more comfortable drawing these new characters he created. The colours by Chris O’Halloran still same good quality as the last issue.

page03.jpg

If you have picked up issue 1 and weren’t sold on it get issue 2, it’s worth it, and at 24 pages for $2.99 (US) that’s a great value. If this issue somehow still doesn’t do it for you like I said to give issue 3 the last chance. It’s the Halloween season now this is good series to add to your horror and Halloween themed entertainment for the spooky month.

8/10

Croak #2 is available this Wednesday, October 5th.

Croak #1 is currently available and can be purchased at Comixology

Hayley Atwell wants an Agent Carter Movie

Hayley Atwell as Agent Carter

Fans all over the globe have kept their hopes high and petitions ever-growing, in the goal of bringing Agent Carter back. Despite not being picked up for its third season, there is still hope. Especially where Hayley Atwell is involved. Beloved amongst the show’s supporters and the Marvel universe alike, Hayley Atwell is adamant that a chance will arise for Marvel to do some sort of “special” with Peggy’s long life, which is bound to be filled to the brim with adventure.

“I hound [Marvel Studios’ Louis] D’Esposito on a regular basis, saying, ‘Give me a movie!’ I think the great thing about Peggy is, we know from [Captain America: The] Winter Soldier that she lives a long life, so she can come back. I’m banking on, when I’m in my fifties, I’m like, ‘This is the time. Let’s see what Peggy’s up to in this decade.’ It’s still a much-loved show for the people involved in the making of it, and we know that for the fans, it has a special place in their hearts. I would be very happy to go back to her if she became available. I don’t feel like I’ve said goodbye to her. She does still seem to live on a lot for the fans. And Marvel is still such a big part of my career, especially my professional family, that I would absolutely not rule out the idea of going back to Peggy at some point, seeing her in other avenues. I love her, and I hope that she has a life elsewhere at another time. “

If you’ve missed Agent Carter: the two seasons are available for streaming on ABC or purchasable on iTunes, amongst other options.

If you’re wondering what led to the show Agent Carter, you may be surprised to know it was the Agent Carter film that was released in 2013 on the home media release of Iron Man 3. It’s basically a follow-up and spin-off of Captain America: The First Avenger. Due to it’s success Marvel decided to start ABC’s Agent Carter.

What are your thoughts? Do you want Hayley Atwell on the big screen? Or would you prefer she reprised her weekly Agent Carter on ABC? Comment below or tweet me @SohoDoll. And as always, “I know my value. Anyone else’s opinion doesn’t really matter.” – Peggy Carter

traincomic-1024x768

The time has finally come to board the Charleston 689. The Of Devils And Men Kickstarter officially begins today! We at Skatronixxx have been previewing art and rewards for the project the past week or so. Now comes all the details and of course a link to the campaign.

First off a little bit about the horror western comic courtesy of writer James D. Schumacher III (Writer of Inheritance).

Story Synopsis:

1880’s Arizona Territory. The hills caught fire, the animals perished, the great cataclysm wrought death upon the world. Fire spread everywhere. Emerging from the hellfire, horrific denizens hellbent on the killing the last remnants of humanity.

Survivors of the inferno took to trains, stagecoaches, horses, anything to outrun the creatures. For the refugees on board Locomotive 689 Charleston, it is just the beginning of their trials as they steam for the fabled city, Crescent City.

A place where many say this hell has not touched, a place where the survivors can live without fear.

As each day wears thin for the survivors, patience gives way to anger, the pain of losing loved ones turn to violence and soon the people within the train have nothing more to fear that what is inside the train with them. This train is the last hope for these people, and it’s running low on fuel miles away from anything resembling safety and with millions of creatures on its heels.

Will the survivors on the Charleston defy their differences and overcome loss, or will the very thing that unites us all be the downfall of humanity?

Both Ken and James are doing something different with this comic. Ken’s art style is very raw and rustic on this project. It’s certainly not traditional comic book art, and this is all done by hand no digital use what so ever.

We have enjoyed partnering with Of Devils And Men regarding promotion of their campaign prior and now during their launch. We appreciate them giving us content for readers like you. We at Skatronixxx believe in supporting indie whenever possible because it will eventually be the mainstream. Long gone are the days of the big two publishers pushing the envelope whether with storytelling or art. Kickstarter has allowed indie to have more of a voice than ever before and has made it possible for creators and publishers to release multiple projects thanks to receiving funding beyond their pledge goal.

So please support this comic if you’re a fan of horror, westerns or your just looking for something different from your average comic book. If you’re unable to support financially and like what you see, please help get the word out by sharing this article or the Kickstarter link on your various social media platforms.

Monty The Dinosaur #2 Review

If you missed my review of Monty the Dinosaur #1 check it out here

Monty The Dinosaur # 2 continues to be a great all-ages book. With Monty’s Origin story out of the way Bob Frantz and Jean Franco flex their creative muscles a lot more and up the silliness and fun. In this issue we see Sophie try to get  Monty enrolled in her school because dinosaurs need to learn to right? We also see Monty and Sophie figure out where to find out where to get Bananas when the world is completely out of them.

In this issue we see Sophie try to get  Monty enrolled in her school because dinosaurs need to learn to right? We also see Monty and Sophie figure out where to find out where to get Bananas when the world is completely out of them. We get some more humour than the first issue which works well and once again is a pleasure to read in general.

Monty_2 DIGITAL-6.jpg

Bob Frantz & Jean Franco maintained the same excellent quality in all departments from issue one. I have had a chance to chat with Bob a little bit since my review of issue one, and he has referred to it as a silly book, and I agree with him, but it’s silly in a good entertaining way. Again pick up this series and spread the silly fun around with everyone.

10/10

We have just one more issue left of Monty The Dinosaur for 2016! The trade will be available in November and I just confirmed with Bob there will be more Monty some time in 2017!
