An Interview With Cosplayer Hannah Indigo Cosplay

main
Hi Readers
It’s time for another cosplay interview, this time we meet Hannah Indigo Cosplay. Hannah Indigo Cosplay first caught my attention with her awesome Harley Quinn cosplay, after that  was blown away by the use of make up in her cosplays, it was some of the best I’ve seen! Let’s find out some more about Hannah Indigo Cosplay  .

1) How did you get into cosplaying?

I had been working in the cosmetics industry for around 4 years when I decided I wanted to teach myself SFX Make Up. I loved horror films, I had already crated a few zombies and chosen to go as Stephen King’s Carrie for Halloween one year. To practice techniques, I followed a chelsea smile tutorial, and turned this into a Joker look.

Meanwhile, I’d noticed a girl I went to school with had dressed up as SS Harley for Halloween. She looked amazing! We only spoke every couple of months, but Oliva was someone who just understood me. I was in Portugal visiting family when I noticed it was MCM Comic Con the weekend I returned to the UK. I joked with Olivia that we should go as Harley and The Joker, but before we could even think about it I had already bought tickets and ordered myself a green wig.

Sat in the car with a white face, mis matching eye shadow but completely normal clothing, we convinced ourselves that we were totally overdressed. However, looking back now, my Joker “cosplay” was just terribly bad! My Ledger style scars drew some attention, we were stopped for photos and even filmed for a cosplay music video. It was like another world, putting on a mask and you could just escape reality for a few hours. The whole thing was so alien to us, but we fell in love with it. I remember on the journey home, we were so overwhelmed at just how nice the community was, how accepting and friendly everyone was. From there it just became an addiction.

2) Where do you get your inspiration and ideas to cosplay from? Is it from programs you watch now or childhood programs or both?

My main inspiration is my own imagination. None of my Harley’s are strictly based on a single version of her. I love inventing new looks and styles for her with a splash of my own personality. I also love an excuse to wear these crazy outfits I could never even dream of wearing in my normal life.

As I meet more people within the community I’m constantly inspired by their creativity and fresh ideas. I don’t watch an awful lot of TV, but when I do, I become addicted to whole seasons. I’ve done Carl from TWD and I also have an OITNB cosplay in the pipeline. I try to chose characters that either I can relate to or maybe resemble in some way. I just usually chose the characters I love.

My childhood doesn’t inspire my cosplay that much. I grew up watching The Labyrinth and reading Where The Wild Things Are. I also watched a lot of Disney but I don’t feel that inspired to become a princess. Horror films and gore inspire me a lot more. But, hey, who knows, maybe I’ll do Max from Wild Things one day!

3) How do you put your outfits together are they 100% from scratch and if so what’s been your trickiest part to date?

I don’t sketch my ideas, I just keep a mental mood board in my head. It usually works. I keep a lot of images on my phone, as I see things that inspire me I just add them to my camera roll.

I do try and create a lot of bits myself, but I have such a talented selection of latex specialists, wig stylists, prop makers etc that I like utilise their skills too. I love to collaborate with different designers as it’s a great way to showcase each others work but also freshen up ideas, two heads are better than one after all.

My biggest challenge to date had to be Ivy’s pants. I know a lot of other people struggle with this too as I’ve had many messages asking how I made them, and we all have the same problem. Due to the elastic in the pants, after you’ve attached the leaves and pull them up, the glue doesn’t move with the elastic and they just all snap and fall off! My only solution to this was to hot glue the leaves on while I was wearing the pants! I would not recombined this to anyone unless you want hot glue burns below the waist! The worst of it, I’m going have to remake the damn things as they didn’t survive two solid days at a con and a photoshoot!

4) What’s your favourite cosplay to date?

That’s a really tough one! I would say Harley because I love her personality, plus her outfit is just so much fun. Her wig is so bloody fabulous too! But ultimately, it has to be Ivy, although she’s probably my most uncomfortable outfit to date! She was my first full cosplay, I made the costume myself, and she’s so glamourous. I’m very proud of that cosplay.

5) If you’ve cosplayed at a convention what was the experience like?

I’ve never not cosplayed at a convention! I couldn’t imagine going in human clothes! For me it’s a must because it gets you talking to new people! I love meeting people in the same costume as myself, or characters I love. I have a few characters I always look out for at cons!

My friend and I tend to have an “all out” cosplay for the main day (Saturday) and a “comfy cosplay” for the day we travel home. For my last Con I chose Carl as my comfy cosplay. It was nice, because although I wasn’t stopped as much it gave me the opportunity to really explore the convention hall. People loved the make up, it’s very different playing a really glam character one day and one who’s had their eye shot out the next!

Meet ups are a big thing at conventions, although due to my anxiety I haven’t made it to one yet! I always catch up on the awesome photos people get, but I’m not quite ready for it myself yet. I’m hoping to make some DC ones in October.

I’ve met some incredible people at cons due to being in cosplay that I probably wouldn’t have spoken to if I was out of costume. I always say to myself “where would I be if I hadn’t put Ivy together?” They have really become some of my closest friends and I’m most thankful to cosplay for that.

6) Can we expect to see you at any conventions this year?

I may be going to Sheffield con in a few weeks, whether I go on my own, with a friend or whatever is all still up in the air at the moment. However if I’m getting the train then I may have to choose a comfy cosplay!

I will 100% be attending both MCM London and Birmingham at the end of this year. I have a brand new Harley in the works, so I’m excited to take her to London for the first time! Old favourites like Ivy will be coming along to London too.

harley.jpg

7) If you could cosplay as anyone and budget wasn’t an issue who would it be?

I know D.Va could be the new Harley, but seriously, how awesome would be  D.Va but with an actual working robot?! Imagine, you could hop in and out, move around in it…..

Mercy also has an insane costume. There would be so many options if money wasn’t an object. However money doesn’t bring connections, even with all the money in the world, I’d still need to find someone to build this robot for me! Realistically though, cosplay is an expensive hobby, I want to get more into armoured work, so if anyone fancies throwing some Worbla in my direction that would be great!

8) Do you have any words of advice for up and coming cosplayers?

I still consider myself as an up and coming cosplayer, but I have learnt a few things. Network and talk to people! Don’t be afraid to say hello, or in my case, drop your hotdog and sprint across the hall screaming “Ricckkkkkk! Rickk!!” I get a little over excited when I see cosplays that are just too real to be true! But seriously, I’ve made some of the best friends from conventions, so don’t avoid the social events and always be yourself!

Buy good wigs. I cannot express to you how much a wig can make or break your entire cosplay. Really think about how you can cross over certain wigs for different outfits if you want to save a little cash. Also, help people and utilise your own skills. Go to town on what you are good at, hence why I always go overboard on my make up for cosplays. But if you can make amazing armour, then armour the crap pout of your cosplay!

Don’t take it too seriously. I’ve heard rubbish being said about my cosplays on social media, commenting on my looks or my weight. It could so easily knock me out of the game, but I always remind myself that these are just trolls, with nothing good to say. I try not to take on board the hateful comments and really focus on the good ones. Don’t feel like you have to do anything that makes you feel uncomfortable just to get your cosplay noticed! Stay true to you.

9)  Where can we find you online?

There you go readers Hannah Indigo Cosplay! Don’t be shy go say hi and say ‘Skatronixxx sent me!’

LFCC Presents “Suicide Squad” Costume Showcase

LFCC Logo

With Suicide Squad hitting cinema’s August 5th, London Film and Comic Con would be crazy to pass up on the chance to get involved – so this weekend, the con showcased all of the major costumes from the movie – the screen used, real deal costumes too.

Displayed in a penned off area, complete with giant cardboard cut outs, the costumes were displayed in glass cases, complete with manequinns shaped like the actors (including faces).

Enchantress1

Enchantress2

The costume show included Enchantress’s intricate and minimalist outfit, complete with completely creepy floor length black wig that we can only imagine wreaked havoc on poor Cara Delavingne’s (Paper Towns, Anna Karenina, Kids in Love) head.

Harley Quinn1

Harley Quinn2

Everyone’s favourite Harley Quinn, portrayed by Margot Robbie (The Wolf of Wall Street, Tarzan, Focus), was also present – this costume has many beautiful, detailed and intricate parts that the Con allowed you to see up close. This included the sparkly hot pants, belt, the fishnet tights, the high heeled sneaker style shoes, the jock-jacket – and, of course, the baseball bat.

Will Smith’s (I Am Legend, Men in Black, Independence Day) Deadshot was also there, complete with focus eye-piece, armour and weapons holsters. To also hold the line up included Captain Boomerang’s (Jai Courtney – Divergent, A Good Day to Die Hard, Terminator Genisys) costume, complete with lethal boomerangs, thick leather jacket and duct-taped up combat boots.

Costumes also featured included Katana’s (Karen Fukuhara Suicide Squad), Killer Croc’s (Adewake Akinnuoye-Adbaje – The Bourne Identity, Thor: The Dark World, Lost), Diablo’s (Jay HernandezHostel, Quarantine, The Rookie), and last but not least, Jared Leto’s (Panic Room, Requiem for a Dream, Dallas Buyers Club) The Joker – complete with suit, and jewel-encrusted cane.

To round off this amazing display is a giant cardboard cut out of the entire cast – with a gap large enough to fit pleased Comic Con attendees who want to chance to pose with the anti-heroes before they hit the big screen.

It’s clear from the incredible display, which allows you to be as up-close and personal to the costumes without touching them, that the costume designers on this movie put a lot of heart, thought, effort and a tonne of fun into creating individual and unique pieces that completely fit their characters.

Will The Flash Appear In Suicide Squad?

ezra-miller-flash-ripped

The Suicide Squad is made up of some of the greatest villains known to DC and most belong to Batman (honesty, I think the most popular ones everyone knows are Batman villains…) Yet there is one bad guy, Captain Boomerang, that fights mainly our super speedy, red-suited crusader… So you cant help but wonder: does this mean we may see a blur of The Flash in the film like we get to of the Dark Knight? (TINGLES!)

captain-boomerang-suicide-squad-1jpg-b8a31b1280wjpg-c735f8_765w.jpg

So there were some rumors that The Flash may make a “quick” appearance in the movie, considering one of the villains, and it seems this rumor is true. At the recent San Diego Comic Con, they showed a preview of the movie, showing the origins of Captain Boomerang and there is a scene where he is robbing a bank. In this scene we see a flash of lightning, much like we would see in the TV series when Flash arrives on the scene. OOOOOOH!!!! Also, EZra Miller is rumored to play the roll of the scarlet speedster.

The Flash…maybe???

Goodness, Justice League and The Suicide Squad… Now I know more people love the Marvel universe more than DC. But this girl is more DC than Marvel simply because I grew up being in love with Superman. (My first crush was Christopher Reeve…) No guessing my age guys J So this is so exciting!! And I love crossovers. Being into comics and the like, we see there are infinite possibilities out there with other worlds and interchangeable story lines. GAAAAH luv luv luv. Can’t wait to see what other surprises may be in store for us with the DC universe and movies ^_^

Batman: Arkham Underworld Review

Ever wanted to be the villain and create your own gang? Imagine what it would be like to create your own empire, and go after the so-called Super Hero! Turbine Inc. has given us, as gamers, the opportunity to do so in a very addicting mobile game titled, Batman: Arkham Underworld. It is the first Arkham game where Joker is not involved in the plot or storyline. Personally I had to stop my infatuation with the game, just to write this!

IMG_1753

This mobile game is an RPG MMO hack and slash strategy game. For those who aren’t gamers, pretty much you can attack other players online and build your own base using a simple press of a button, all at your fingertips. Arkham Underworld even gives your story missions throughout as you rank up and advance meeting the likes of characters such as Catwoman, Deadshot, Killer Croc, Scarecrow, Harley Quinn and much more. The story goes as you are creating your own empire trying to take over Gotham using the villains, I repeat using the villains you unlock during gameplay! Batman does interfere in your process making it extremely difficult to complete tasks. You rob banks, free prisoners and ultimately try to take down a Mob Boss and his henchmen to gain control of that particular territory. It is fun and finally lets us gamers be the bad guys for once. With some missions, you even try and stop Amanda Waller from creating the Suicide Squad!
IMG_1760

While recruiting your favorite DC Comic super villains to take over Gotham dominance, you are able to train your gang members, earn respect and build a customizable lair. Your gang as a whole will level up as you build more items in your base which in turn, gains you money and respect. Use this wisely because you also can customize your super villains move-set! I have leveled up Harley Quinn so far, she is now followed around by a pack of dogs helping you kill enemies. My Riddler character has a hologram to take the damage away from him, distracting the police, making it easier to complete your mission. It is a strategy game, which gives you an opportunity to think before you attack. Many missions can be completed fast and easy, if properly thought out. Be careful as certain rooms you cross into can trigger more police incoming or even the Batman himself! Below is a picture of my personal hideout and progress……. Please Don’t Attack Me!!IMG_1761

I can’t rave enough about this game considering I haven’t stop playing it for the past two weeks. Rumor has it if you get far enough, you may be able to eliminate the Dark Knight! A dream many comic lovers have wished for, for a loooooong time! This visually stunning mobile game was released in May 2016 and is set to be worldwide come October 2016. You can download it right now in the majority of countries by Clicking Here! I wish I created this game, I wish I wrote it, and I wish I was part of the amazing team at Turbine Entertainment Studios, who I can not thank enough for creating such a wonderful masterpiece!

How fast can you level up? Who is your favorite villain to use? Let me know in a comment or tweet me @MAK10GATOR !! P.S. I think they approve of me playing the game considering they liked my tweet yesterday!

The Trailer For Upcoming Film Wonder Woman Is Released

wonder-woman-trailer-screenshots---gal-gadot-hero-pose-with-shie-191863

DC Films and Warner Bros. have released an epic first trailer for their upcoming superhero epic, Wonder Woman. The film seems to be tonally and visually different from all superhero movies post Iron Man. It is action packed with intriguing dialogue and stunning visuals. Gal Gadot nails the role of the most iconic female superhero of all time, Wonder Woman, and Chris Pine makes a great addition to the cast. Honestly, I don’t know how my body is gonna handle all this excitement from all the upcoming superhero movies. Either way I’ll see every one of them. Here’s the spectacular trailer.

Wonder Woman hits movie theaters around the world next summer when Gal Gadot returns as the title character in the epic action adventure from director Patty Jenkins. Before she was Wonder Woman, she was Diana, princess of the Amazons, trained to be an unconquerable warrior. Raised on a sheltered island paradise, when an American pilot crashes on their shores and tells of a massive conflict raging in the outside world, Diana leaves her home, convinced she can stop the threat. Fighting alongside man in a war to end all wars, Diana will discover her full powers…and her true destiny.

Joining Gadot in the international cast are Chris Pine, Connie Nielsen, Robin Wright, David Thewlis, Danny Huston, Elena Anaya, Ewen Bremner and Saïd Taghmaoui. Jenkins directs the film from a screenplay by Allan Heinberg and Geoff Johns, story by Zack Snyder & Allan Heinberg, based on characters from DC Entertainment. Wonder Woman was created by William Moulton Marston. The film is produced by Charles Roven, Zack Snyder, Deborah Snyder and Richard Suckle, with Rebecca Roven, Stephen Jones, Wesley Coller and Geoff Johns serving as executive producers. Warner Bros. Pictures presents, in association with RatPac-Dune Entertainment, an Atlas Entertainment/Cruel and Unusual production, “Wonder Woman.” The film is scheduled for release on June 2, 2017, and will be distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company.

Justice League Movie Teaser Trailer Released, And Boy, It’s Glorious!

CoE1AQ6WEAAx18Q.jpgYes, today is Christmas for DC fans.

Warner Bros. has released a teaser for the much anticipated Justice League movie was  after a DC panel ended in Hall H at San Diego Comic Con. It features a lot of footage as Bruce Wayne travels around the world recruiting heroes to unite against a major threat which is believed to be Steppenwolf. A much lighter tone is apparent from the teaser with Ezra Miller being the comic relief. To sum it up, this 2 and half minute trailer has got more jokes than the entire 3 hours of Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice.

After the major backlash from fans and critics alike with Batman V Superman, Warner Bros. clearly is trying to turn things around and make people forget about the second instalment of the DC Extended Universe. Know what Warner Bros.? You freaking succeeded. It’s amazing how much footage this teaser has and Justice League has only been shooting for a few months. People will definitely stop making fish jokes about Aquaman, gosh, he looks so badass. Wonder Woman is fierce. Bruce Wayne is snarky. And Cyborg looks majestic. The only hero missing from this teaser is Superman, who is still presumed dead. If this doesn’t excite you about Justice League, I don’t know what will. Look at the awesome teaser below.

Fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman’s selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat. But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes—Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash—it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.

Justice League lands in theaters in November 17 2017.

First Official Wonder Woman Poster Released, And It’s Magnificent!

To coincide with Wonder Woman’s 75th anniversary, Gal Gadot who plays the superheroine, has released the first official poster for her upcoming film, Wonder Woman. The poster is one of the best I’ve seen for a superhero movie, if not the best. It’s filled with vibrant colors and it’s clearly brighter than the one seen in Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice. It also has a great tagline which reads” Power, Grace, Wisdom, and Wonder.” We’ll be expecting some kind of a teaser for Wonder Woman from tomorrow’s Warner Bros. panel. In the meantime, take a look at the spectacular poster below.

The films official synopsis also reads as follows:

‘Wonder Woman hits movie theaters around the world next summer when Gal Gadot returns as the title character in the epic action adventure from director Patty Jenkins. Before she was Wonder Woman, she was Diana, princess of the Amazons, trained to be an unconquerable warrior.
