Rick Famuyiwa To Direct The Flash Movie

The Flash movie is about to be Dope!

Warner Bros. has appointed Rick Famuyiwa as the director for its superhero epic, The Flash. Famuyiwa is best known for writing and directing the critically acclaimed 2015 Sundance pic, Dope. The filmmaker has been receiving significant Emmy-season buzz for directing Confirmation, the HBO drama which stars Kerry Washington and Wendell Pierce.

The news come after BatmanNews made a stray observation on Rick Famuyiwa’s twitter account, a few days ago. In short period of time, Famuyiwa‘s account started following Geoff Johns, Wonder Woman, Gal Gadot, Suicide Squad, Zack Snyder, Ben Affleck, Ray Fisher and Jason Mamoa, all who are part of the DC Extended Universe.

Seth Grahame-Smith (Author of Pride& Prejudice & Zombies, and Abraham Lincoln) penned the script from a treatment by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller (The Lego Movie, 21  Jump Street). Grahame-Smith was originally going to make his directorial debut with The Flash, but left due to creative differences with the studio.

The Flash movie will star Ezra Miller( Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice) as the titular character. It will arrive in cinemas in March 16 2018.

DC’s Legends of Tomorrow SN1 EP16 – ‘Legendary’

If you have not yet seen the season finale, due to channels not airing it when they were supposed to (that happened to me), be warned that this article contains major spoilers.

The Time-Master’s most powerful tool is destroyed, the Timeline is unclear, Rips’ family cannot be saved and Savage has escaped, with Kendra and Carter as prisoners, in a time ship gifted to him by the now defunct Time Masters. With all of that in mind, Rip returns the team to 2016, but having a little foreknowledge, returns them to a point months later than when he recruited them. They land in Star City, May 2016. The team is less than happy with Rip leaving them while the mission is unfinished. Rip’s next action will be to go to the Last Refuge, and return their younger selves back to the time line. The team discover that Rip never got off the ship with them as the Waverider pulls away. Rory mutters that he never did like that guy anyway.

Sara finds her dad (Paul Blackthorne) in Arrow HQ, babysitting the monitors. He breaks the bad news. While she was gone, Damien Darhk has caused them problems, not the least of which is that he killed Laurel during his prison break.

Over in Central City, Rory has wasted no time in finding a new partner, and we find him at the tail end of a successful bank robbery. This new partner, wielding the cold gun, shoots an unfortunate guard. As Rory sees it, this was unnecessary, as they were just about at their getaway Charger, and the guard was on foot. He heatwaves the idjit, collects the cold gun and hops back into the Charger, to find that his driver is now Ray Palmer. Ray wants to talk to Rory. In a parking lot away from the scene of the crime, Ray tries to apologise again for Snart’s death. Rory knows that it was all Snart’s doing, as he never did anything without a plan. Ray wonders if Snart’s plan was for the two of them to be partners, to look out for each other. Rory kinda looks like he might have puked a little in his mouth, until Ray explains that he wants to finish the mission.

At Martin’s house, he and Clarissa (Isabella Hofmann) are playing Trivial Pursuit. Martin won’t talk to Clarissa about what happened during the time he was gone, but he does say that he has left some very important work unfinished. The next morning, Martin and Jax return to the landing site with a Quantum Entangler, and meet Ray and Rory who have arrived with Ray’s radio beacon. A visibly upset Sara also comes back to the site and wants to know how they can get the WaveRider back.

On the WaveRider, Rip is reviewing recordings of his wife and son. And he is wallowing in his grief, no doubt about it. Gideon interrupts his pity party with the news that they have picked up a transmission from Star City 2016. When Rip gets off the ship this time, Rory pushes him, just to make sure. The team tells Rip they want to finish the job. Rip admits to having had no success in tracking Savage, but he also has not been involved in any bar fights, or put dwarf star tech into the hands of terrorists, or been turned into a scary angry bird monster. Rory interrupts “We got your point. Now get ours. That ship’s not taking off without us. You got that?”.

In Sainte-Lo, France 1944, Kendra has escaped from Savage’s ship, and runs into a young Sargeant who is hunting Nazis. She realizes that she has seen his helmet on the WaveRider, begs the soldier for paper and a pencil, scribbles a quick note and puts it inside the soldiers’ helmet. Although his name is never mentioned, hard core DC fans will no doubt recognize this young soldier as Sgt. Rock (Blair Penner). I had to look him up, lol, having come to my superhero geekery later in life. Savage uses him for knife target practice, and recaptures Kendra.

Once on board, a very pissed off Sara sucker punches Rip because he knew about Laurel. She wants to go back and save Laurel, but Rip insists that they can’t. Sara is subdued, and taken to her room. Jax knocks a soldier’s helmet down. Rip realizes it was in a different spot from where it was originally kept, due to chronometric repositioning. He examines the helmet closely, and finds Kendra’s note. They plot course for Sainte-Lo, 1944.

Carter has come out of stasis, but is disoriented, knowing only that he is going to kill Savage. Savage takes a vial of blood from each Hawk, while chortling about his plan, which involves the three meteorites that hit the Earth in ancient Egypt. He plans to activate the Thanagarian technology in the meteorites using their blood, to erase time and reboot it at 1700 BC. Only this time, he will be in control. He will be a God.

On the WaveRider, Rip goes to Sara’s quarters to explain himself. He knew that if he returned them to when they first met, not only would Darhk have killed Laurel, he would also have killed Quentin and Sara herself. This is a point in history that cannot change, so no matter how many times they go back, the outcome will always be the same. She is undone by this, telling Rip that she can’t do it without Laurel. Rip disagrees. “You are one of the strongest people I have ever met. Laurel may be beyond your help, but Kendra and Carter might not be.” She wipes her tears, straightens her shoulders and determines to help rescue the Hawks.

Gideon locates Savage busily trying to hijack a meteorite from the Nazis. Heatwave, Atom and White Canary keep Savage and the Nazis busy while Firestorm rescues the Hawks. Firestorm accidentally discovers his ability to transmute things when he grasps a rifle, and it crumbles to dust. As the team makes their way back to the WaveRider, Kendra is hit and recaptured by Savage. They have rescued Carter, but have lost Kendra. For the time being.
Carter is still confused, but as they are a little short on time, they need to know what Savage wants. He tells them about Savage’s plan to activate three Thangarian meteorites with vials of blood from himself, Kendra and Carter. Carter tells them that Savage plans to reset time back to ancient Egypt. Gideon provides some relevant surveillance video. The team realizes that they have seen one of these meteorites in 1958. While Jax is trying to figure out how he transmuted the rifle because that would be a handy tool, Stein realizes that Savage will need to activate the three meteorites in three different time periods to accomplish his goal. Jax thinks this is the craziest bad guy plan in the history of bad guy plans. Stein’s math shows that the three time periods will be 1958, 1975 and 2021, each one a year in which Thanagar and Earth align.

In 1958, Savage meets himself and gives himself a vial of blood. He explains what he wants himself to do with the meteorite and how.

The question of the day is how to stop Savage. Stein says they have to kill him when he is triply exposed to the meteorite radiation during the activation. At that point, Savage will become mortal, briefly, so that anyone will be able to kill him. They must split up into teams of two, one team per time period. All three teams must strike simultaneously.
Savage has taken the 1944 meteorite to a rooftop in 2021, and has Kendra tied up out of the way, but where she can see it all. Rip and Hawkman are in hiding, waiting for the right time to strike.

In Harmony Falls 1958, Heatwave asks Atom when he can kill Savage. Atom tells him that they have to wait for the meteorite to go critical.

In Norway 1975, Martin, Jax and White Canary are in place, watching their past selves find the nuclear warhead and take it to detonate harmlessly underwater. They wait for the third meteorite to be delivered to Savage, and for Savage to start the ritual.

Savage starts the ritual in each time period. Each year has its’ title bout, and each Savage has his ass handed to him. In 1958 it is Rory and Savage while Atom keeps the crazy angry birdmen minions busy; in 1975 it is Sara and Savage while Firestorm keeps the thug minions busy; and in 2021, Kendra has broken loose and hawked out, so she and Hawkman take Savage on while Rip keeps the trooper minions busy. In 1975, Savage breaks free of Sara, grabs a rocket launcher and fires at her. She doesn’t even flinch as Firestorm swoops in and destroys it. Savage tells her she is too late, but she retorts that “a Time -Master is never late.” She engages, gets behind him and breaks his neck. In 1958, Savage gasps “You can’t kill me, I’m immortal” Rory says “Guess you haven’t heard the news” and turns Savage into a crispy critter. In 2021, Carter is holding Savage for Kendra, she stabs him once, says “Goodbye….. my love” and stabs him again. Rip grabs the dying Savage. “Ah, you can feel it can’t you? Things are different this time. You’re mortal.” He twists the knife, but Savage sneers “and yet my death does not save the lives of your family. I may die, but you will live knowing that you failed to save them.” Rip throws him into a building transformer for good measure.

In 1975, Firestorm transmutes the meteorite into water. In 1958, the Atom shrinks the meteorite out of existence. The two teams rejoin the rest in 2021, where both Firestorm and the Atom try a repeat performance with the third meteorite. Unsuccessfully. Rip takes the meteorite on board the WaveRider with the intent to fly into the sun. There is a conversation via comms between Rip and the team, during which Rory admits “I don’t want to lose another friend”. Rip tells them it has been an honour to serve as their Captain, and the comms cut out.

While Rip is heading towards the sun, he closes his eyes and has a poignant vision of himself hugging his wife and son. My eyes got just a lil wet. He wakes out of his vision to say goodbye to Gideon, but the AI informs him that she is not ready to die. Having said a proper goodbye to his family, Rip decides that he isn’t either. They do some fast power rerouting, dump the meteorite into the sun, and time jump out of there to when the team realized he was gone. As they realize the meteorite and the WaveRider are both gone, the ship reappears. They enter the badly beaten up ship and Rip tells them what has occurred. Another notable moment happens as Jax notes that Rip could have been killed, and Rory says “you should have been. You’re a moron.” Kendra can’t believe it is really over. Rip says “for some of you, yes. But my journey, it seems is just beginning. The Time-Masters are no longer a going concern due to the destruction of the Oculus. Someone needs to be responsible for protecting the time line. Who better than a former Time Master and any of you who would like to join me.”.

The team are taken once again to 2016. Sara visits Laurels’ grave with Quentin. Lance tells her she needs to go with Rip because justice for Laurel will happen with or without her. Sara agrees that this time she will do it for Laurel.

Martin and Clarissa are playing Trivial Pursuit again. Martin tells her that he is going to decline the offer this time. Jax enters the house, and Clarissa and he convince Martin that Firestorm is meant to have a dynamic role in history. Clarissa seals the deal by telling him that she will always be there, waiting.

In a bar in Central City, Rory has asked Snart to meet with him, just to talk. Rory tells Snart that he just wanted to say something important that shouldn’t be left unsaid. He is obviously struggling, so Snart responds with “Mick, I don’t do touchy feely. You got something to say, say it.”. Rory manages. “You’re the best guy I ever knew. You may not think you’re a hero, but you’re a hero to me. Ya got that?”. Snart says “Yeah, I got it”, and watches Rory walk away with an odd expression on his face, not the cold Snart expression it should have been for that time. But maybe that’s just wishful thinking on my part, lol.
Outside, Rip tells Rory that he can always bring him back to this time and place whenever he wants. So it seems that some times and places can be visited repeatedly.

In Star City, the team assembles, to Rip’s delight. But Kendra breaks the news that she and Carter will not be going. Carter adds that they want to start fresh. Kendra thanks them all. She wants specially to say something to Ray, but he stops her, saying that “this was meant to be. I wish you both nothing but the best.”. The Hawks take to the sky. As the team walks towards the WaveRider, they are halted by the sight of another WaveRider careening out of the sky. It lands hard and an unknown man steps out. This man approaches them, demanding to know if this is May 2016. When he is told that it is, he tells them that they are exactly where they told him they would be. And to not get on that ship. If they do, they will all be dead. Rory, immediately suspicious, wants to know who sent him. The man tells him, “You, Mr. Rory. You sent me.” WTF? Rip asks him who he is exactly, and the man introduces himself as Rex Tyler (Patrick J Adams), a member of the Justice Society of America.

Whiteout.

And so we have the shape of things to come. The Legends will take on the responsibility for protecting the timeline against those who would manipulate it for evil. And somewhere along the way, they will meet up with the Justice Society of America. Look for more DC heroes old and new, from Earth and Earth-2 to join our team in their adventures. Some will be just passing through, but I am sure that one or two will stay on.

Who would you like to see join the team on a permanent basis? Will Hourman be one of them? (Yes I had to look him and the JSA up too, lol). How about Sgt. Rock? Yes I know he died, but we are dealing with time travel here. I personally am rooting for Jonah Hex. I would love to see Leonard return, and he will, but he will only be passing through. The question there is, will there be a Captain Cold-Canary relationship again? I hope so. That was just getting interesting. And be sure to set your PVR’s for the big Crossover event next season – Supergirl, Arrow, Flash and the Legends!

The CW’S Big Crossover: Arrow, The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow and Supergirl

It’s time for the biggest crossover in CW history! Since Supergirl was moved from the CBS network to The CW, The CW now has four superhero shows. Arrow on Wednesdays, The Flash on Tuesdays, Legends of Tomorrow on Thursdays, and now Supergirl to be aired on Mondays.

During The CW’s upfront presentation on May 19th, CW president Mark Pedowitz officially disclosed that next season an epic four-show crossover is set to take place. “Next season, Arrow, The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow, and now Supergirl will join forces in our annual crossover event, our biggest ever.” A round of applause please, for the words that will make our universe explode come that episode.

We already know that this is definitely an attainable possibility, having seen annual crossovers, starting with Arrow and The Flash. Both shows later crossed over with select members of Legends of Tomorrow ahead of its premier, and most recently The Flash crossed over with Supergirl.

Harley Quinn Movie Reportedly in Works

Suicide Squad hasn’t even made it’s theatre debut yet, but rumours have arisen of a Harley Quinn-centric movie in the works at Warner Bros., with Margot Robbie to reprise the role, as revealed by The Hollywood Reporter.

Margot Robbie, who currently holds the role in Suicide Squad, is reported to not only star as the character again, but produce as well. The movie also won’t just be a solo act – it’s rumoured to feature other female DC Comics stars, including Batgirl and Birds of Prey. Warner Bros. certainly isn’t commenting on this. The Hollywood Reporter also let on that a script is being written – it’s not confirmed who, but the writer is reportedly a woman.

With DC’s huge line up of popular and incredible heroines and villainesses, it would be one hell of a movie to present – and with it’s already large female fanbase, coupled with DC’s amazing “DC Superhero Girls” (a project involving a line of comics and products deliberately targeted to a young female fanbase, also rumoured to be partly Margot Robbie’s work) it’s an absolute no-brainer that this movie would be a massive success with Warner Bros., and fans should keep their eyes open for further news. Hopefully this isn’t an instance of too good to be true.

The Flash SN2 EP17 – ‘ Flash Back ‘

Its time for another Flash review and in this episode we see Barry travel back in time in order to learn from the Earth-1 Dr Wells aka Eobard Thawne how he can increase his speed in order to battle Zoom if they find a way back to Earth-2.

Barry is still trying to think of a way to increase the speed at which he can run and as he is having a meal with the West family Wally arrives and gives them an update on the project he is working on with his college teacher on how to create more speed in a car. As they are discussing the reading Wally has to undertake he mentions that he cannot exactly go back in time and speak to Enzo Ferrari and ask him all the questions he would like answered. Barry has a look in his eye that tells us he has a plan in mind and excuses himself and heads off to Star labs to share it with the team.

Barry arrives at Star labs and tells Cisco and Caitlin that he plans on going back in time and speaking to Dr Wells (Eobard Thawne) to see if he can gain information on how he planned to make Barry run faster in order to send himself back to his timeline. Cisco and Caitlin think this is a good idea but as they are discussing this Earth-2 Dr Wells arrives back from looking for his daughter and advises Barry that the idea is too risky and they can come up with another way to make him faster. In true Barry style in this series he does not listen and enters the tunnel and travels back in time.

Barry arrives in the past at the exact time that his past self if about to fight Hartley Rathaway just as he is coming to terms with his arrival his past self looks over and spots him causing Barry to run off into a nearby alleyway to regroup. He tries to contact the team but his earpiece malfunctions and he has to take matters into his own hands and speeds off to grab his past self. As he reaches the alleyway he attempts to use a serum to knock his past self out but he does not go quietly and the pair rush around before Barry manages to inject him and knock him out. Barry switches the flash symbols over to avoid being found out that he is from the future and rushes back to knock Hartley unconscious and take him back to Star labs.

When he arrives back at the lab and puts Hartley in his containment chamber the team ask him to remove his ear pieces but he explains he can’t do that as the pain is agonizing to him. Barry has a flash back of Hartley using his ear pieces to escape the chamber by using them as explosives and tells Cisco to check them for low level radio waves and as if by magic he picks it up straight away although this peaks Dr Wells interest in how Barry could have known that. Barry then talks to the old team and drops that he has been thinking about how he can become faster and starts to draw the speed equation on the board, you can tell by the look on Dr Wells face that he is not sure what to make of all of this but agrees to help Barry figure it out.

We go to the police HQ and a patrolman is in Barry’s lab when we see the map of the city move but there are no windows open and the next thing we see if some sort of Harry Potter looking creature spring out of the board. It makes it’s way out to the main lobby of the station and the police on duty start to open fire but obviously this has no effect, the team receive news that the station is under attack and Barry jumps into action but not in time as the creature makes an escape through a window. Barry is busy tidying up the mess and Joe comes into see him to check if he is alright as he seems different before heading off and we see the return of Eddie. The pair have  brief chat and Barry tells Eddie that he is putting together a video for Iris’s birthday in 3 months and asks Eddie to record a message for Iris so that he can play it to her on her birthday.

Barry arrives back at Star labs and Dr Wells asks Barry how he managed to come up with the complex speed formula in such a short amount of time and not mention it to anybody, Barry tries to explain how he came up with the idea but Dr Wells does not seem to buy it. Dr Wells asks him who he really is and Barry’s response is it’s me Barry you know me, Dr Wells does not believe him and springs up from his chair and knocks Barry unconscious. Barry comes to and he is chained to Dr Wells chair he attempts to phase out of the cuffs and Dr Wells advises that he knows he is from the future as he has not taught his Barry how to phase through objects yet. Dr Wells then moves quickly to his right and Barry is not phased by this confirming that he knows he is from the future as his Barry would have been shocked by that move, Barry starts to laugh and then comes clean with Dr Wells about why he has come back in time and that he is facing another speedster.

Dr Wells then fills Barry in on the creature that has been chasing him and that it is in fact a time wraith and he is after Barry as they have had enough of him travelling through time changing events. Dr Wells knows Barry has to return to his time Barry advises him that he is not going anywhere until Dr Wells helps him increase his speed. Cisco and Caitlin go to take Hartley his new ear pieces in order to help stop the pain he is feeling in his ears just as the time wraith appears looking for Barry and forces the pair into the cell with Hartley who then comes up with a plan to use his new ear pieces to cause a sound that will drive the creature off this is successful.

The team are regrouping and in an instant past Barry reappears and shocks Cisco and Caitlin causing Cisco to ask a string of question all of which both Barry’s are able to answer  causing Dr Wells and Future Barry to come clean about what has been going on. Eventually Dr Wells gives Barry a flash drive with the completed formula on it and advises him that it is time for him to go back to his time. Barry rushes back to the tunnel and starts to build up the speed to take him back to the future but the time wraith comes after him and as he catches him up Barry begins to slow down. Eventually after Barry manages to get up enough speed to time jump as past Barry lends a helping hand to counter act the wraith slowing him down he takes the time wraith with him.

Barry arrives back in his time but is floored by the wraith who starts to suck the life from Barry. Hartley arrives on the scene as he uses his gauntlets to shock the wraith but they are not strong enough to destroy the wraith after a quick tweak to the frequency being used he manages to destroy the time wraith and it appears the team may have a new member.

Barry then arrives back home and find Iris sat on the couch looking at a photo album of pictures of her and Eddie, Barry has a heart to heart with Iris and tells her that he found a video clip that he had Eddie record and has only just found it and gives it to her to watch before going to bed and the episode comes to an end

Arrow SN4 EP16 – ‘ Broken Hearts ‘

It’s time to cover episode 16 of Arrow and this week we see the return on Cupid and we also get to see the preliminary hearing to see if Damien Darhk will have to face a court case against him for all his crimes in Star City.

So after seeing Felicity walk out on Oliver in the last episode it’s only fair to bring Cupid back into the fold to kick love while it’s down on it’s knees and she has a plan to destroy love once and for all by killing happy couples on there wedding day. She starts of by killing her first couple after asking them how much they love each other and the couple state that they love each other to death probably the wrong choice of words considering the situation they are in and Cupid draws back two arrows and fires them into the couple.

Captain Lance contacts Oliver and advises him that there has been a double murder and the person responsible is someone he knows, Oliver appears at the crime scene and Captain Lance shows Oliver one of Cupids trademark arrows. The team try and figure out what the link between the victims and Cupid might be, Thea advises the team that the pair that were killed are a celebrity couple but they cannot figure out what the reason for killing them may have been.

The team get a tip off that another couple have been kidnapped and the team head off to try and stop Cupid from killing again it appears that she has stolen the wedding limo with the couple inside. Wiggle pulls up beside the limo with Thea on the back and she takes the leap and ends up on top of the limo until Cupid crashes through a garage door knocking Thea off onto the ground. Oliver ignores Felicity’s advise to not go after Cupid and to check if Thea is alright by chasing after her in the warehouse he manages to catch up with Cupid he manages to capture her with a trick arrow tying her up but as Oliver is distracted she manages to cut herself loose and knock Oliver down before escaping out of a window.

The team manage to track down Cupids hide out and it’s no surprise that it is a abandoned wedding dress factory and when the team arrive they find that she is targeting famous couples in a bid to destroy love it appears she really didn’t take  the apparent death of Deadshot very well. The team also find a picture of Oliver and Felicity so it appears that the pair have escaped by breaking up, Oliver comes up with a rather odd suggestion by asking Felicity if she will marry him in a bid to draw Cupid out into the open. Felicity eventually agrees to the crazy idea and Thea sets to work spreading the rumour about there secret wedding onto a message board.

The pair arrive at the wedding venue and get the fake wedding under way the pair are left to say there own vows Felicity’s are short and to the point and Oliver takes the chance to poor his heart out to Felicity. The pair are about to get to the I do part of the ceremony and they are then interrupted by Cupid just as she draws and Arrow at Oliver Felicity steps in front of him and starts to walk towards her and with tears in her eyes has a heart to heart with her about the true meaning of love before Cupid fires an arrow into Oliver. The team jump into action and eventually capture Cupid before Oliver gets up off the floor before revealing to her that he was wearing body armour.

We also see in this episode the beginning of Damien Darhk’s preliminary hearing before the judge to see if Laurel has enough evidence to take him to trial for all of his crimes. The trial does not get off to a good start with Darhk’s lawyer advising the court that his clients name is not even Damien Darhk and it is in fact Kenneth Bender and is a citizen of Markovia and that he was being held prisoner at the scene where William was being held. Things go from bad to worse when Diggle takes the stand and Darhk’s lawyer brings up the time that Diggle help Thea Queen buy and massive supply of Vertigo he tries to justify why he did this but before he can answer the question the lawyer then brings up the fact that he seems to work for Oliver Queen but does not understand how he is paid to do so as Oliver has no money.

Captain Lance has seen enough to make him think that Darhk is going to walk so talks Laurel into putting him on the stand and he will tell the court everything Darhk had him do while he was working for him even if it means the end of his career. Laurel agrees to put him on the stand after some persuasion, Captain Lance takes the stand and tells the court how he helped give Darhk police route schedules and even helped him plant a virus in a FBI server farm all because Darhk threatened to kill Laurel if he didn’t do as he was told. This testimony is enough to convince the judge that the case should proceed to trail and that Darhk will be held in prison until the date of the trial is set, we see the officers take him to his cell and once they have left he produces a gold wedding ring from his mouth and places it on his finger and has a big grin on his face.

At the end of the episode we see Felicity and Oliver are back at HQ alone and the pair begin to talk with Oliver apologising again and telling Felicity he does not want to loose her, Felicity tells Oliver that she can never forgive him for what he has done and places the wedding ring down before telling Oliver she can no longer be with him at night doing what they do and not be with him romantically before leaving.

The Flash SN2 EP16 – ‘ Trajectory ‘

So it’s time for this weeks review of The Flash and this week we see Barry trying to improve his speed with the help of the team and we meet a new speedster in the form of Trajectory and the team uncover the identity of Zoom.

So this week centers around Barry’s quest to get faster in case the team manage to find a way back to Earth-2 as well as dealing with another speedster in the form of Trajectory. The first attempt is to get Barry to build up enough speed to clear a canyon on the outskirts of the city, the attempt fails and we see Barry hurtling towards the river but is saved by Cisco and his and of drones holding a net.

Barry also uncovers the fact that Jay was dying before Zoom apparently killed him at the end of the last episode due to his use of a speed enhancing drug called Velocity 7. Caitlin also tells Barry that she was working on Velocity 9 and that she had seen positive results with Jay’s cells regenerating after only one use. This also leads Barry to take the sample and is considering using it to improve his own speed but Dr Wells had spotted that Barry had taken the sample and after a heated discussion Barry smashes it on the floor.

This is where the new speedster Trajectory comes in it appears that Caitlin enlisted the help of an old lab partner from Mercury labs for help as she was having some issues with the bonding element but she only sent her 4 out of the 9 genetic parts of the formula. This however is all her old lab partner needed to make a full copy of Velocity 9 and use it on herself and she uses her new power to rob a nightclub and all the party goers cash in front of Barry and the team due to having crushing debt issues.

During the final show down where Trajectory has collapsed a large portion of the bridge to stop Barry from reaching her we see Barry really tap into his speed force and make the jump and sending her crashing into a power station. Barry tries to talk some sense into her and advise her that she is killing herself, Trajectory is not willing to listen and she starts to run off into the distance but as she does so her speed force starts turning from red to blue something Barry notices before she completely evaporates.

This all eventually links into Cisco having a rather strange vibes throughout the episode every time he is near or touches the case where Jays flash helmet is kept, the vibes consist of Cisco being stood in a dark room with Zoom about to take his mask off. After Barry comes back from the fight with Trajectory he mentions to the team that her speed force was turning blue the same as Zoom. This leads to the team uncovering that Zoom is also dying and this is why he needs to steal other speedsters speed force very much like the symptoms Jay was experiencing.

Cisco then tells this team that this may be a bad time to bring something up but he has been vibing zoom every time he is near or touches the case containing the helmet the team begin to realize that there was more to Jay than they first thought. Caitlin does not want to hear this but the team advise her that it is not the first time a speedster has been in one place at the same time, Barry then walks up to the case and says there is only one way to be sure and smashes the case and passes the helmet to Cisco. Cisco then grabs hold and vibes back to the dark room with Zoom and this time is there long enough to see the face of Jay once it is removed, he comes back around and states that the teams fears are true and that Jay is in fact Zoom.We then see Barry run off and end up back at the canyon he failed jump and let out a scream of anger and the episode comes to a close.

‘Ben Affleck’ To Star & Direct Solo ‘Batman’ Movie

Batfleck fans brace yourself! That standalone Batman movie that your wanted will actually happen with Dawn of Justice star Ben Affleck once again doning the Cape n’ Cowel and also directing.

The news comes hot off the heels of last months confirmation that Affleck is contractual oblige to star in at least two more Justice League films with a solo Batman film “an option“ for the multi-talented Hollywood star.

Well it seems that “option” has been picked up, with Warner Bros. CEO Kevin Tsujihara confirming during their press event at CinemaCon yesterday. Affleck, on stage alongside Tsujihara, shared his excitement for future DC instalments expressing that it has been “tremendously exciting for us to be a part of the DC Universe, and we’re looking forward to working on Justice League.“

With David Ayer’s Suicide Squad set to introduce a number of Batman’s most infamous Villains – including a cameo from Affleck’s Batman no less – it would be safe to assume that groundwork will already be in place by the time we see Affleck’s Batman movie further down the line.

So in the meantime, enjoy the prospect of Jared Leto’s Joker and Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn kicking some Batfleck arse in the future with the latest Suicide Squad trailer.

Arrow SN4 EP15 – ‘ Taken’

So it’s time for my latest review on Arrow so in this episode we carry on from where we left off in the last episode with Damien Darhk having taken Oliver’s son William. We also see Vixen make her live action debut to help Oliver and the team fight magic with magic.

So we at the start of the episode we see Felicity at a rehab center with Curtis’s boyfriend trying out the implant that he gave her in the last episode, she attempts to take her first step and unfortunately buckles and is caught by Oliver.  We see the pair leaving the rehab center and who should arrive in the car park but none other than Damien Darhk, Oliver attempts to run up to confront him but of course Darhk uses his powers to hold him back, he taunts Felicity by apologizing about what happened over Christmas and offers her some advice that she may want to think about a motorized chair.

Oliver then receives a message on his phone and Darhk advises him that he is going to want to see it, Oliver takes his phone out and is confronted by a video message showing William playing in front of a fire place. Darhk advises Oliver that he has until tomorrow night to formally pull out of the race for mayor and give his support to Ruve Adams, Felicity asks Oliver who the child was and Oliver is forced to tell her that it is his son.

Felicity and Oliver arrive back at HQ and start to argue about why he did not tell her he had a son to which Oliver replies that Williams mother said the only way he could have contact with William was if he promised to not tell anyone. Felicity cannot believe that she would be that evil about him keeping him a secret just as the rest of the team arrive, Felicity tells him as William was living in Central city he should tell Barry and ask for his help but the look on Oliver’s face tells Felicity that Barry already knew about William. Felicity then asks the team if any of them knew about William and Thea is forced to admit that she found out a few weeks ago but none of the others knew.

Oliver then receives a call from his campaign manager advising him that a Samantha Clayton is in his office demanding to see him, Oliver tells the team that Williams mother is here and that he has to go meet her. Oliver goes upstairs to meet her and straight away she blames Oliver and wishes he had never found out about William, Oliver decides that it’s time to tell the truth and admits to Samantha that he is the Green Arrow and that is why William has been taken. We see Oliver take Samantha down to the HQ to show her he is not lying and to introduce her to the team including Felicity who is not looking impressed to say the least.

The team discuss a plan to try and find out where Darhk is keeping William, Oliver tasks Thea with speaking to Malcolm as he also knew about William and has an axe to grind with Oliver after what happened between them. We also hear Oliver mention someone who he thinks can help by the name of Vixen and just like that we are taken to another city too see three armed men running from what sounds like a wolf. After one of the guards is taken out by an invisible force the other two stop to face there attacker and are greeted by Vixen she knocks both men on the floor and as she is finishing off one of them the other is about to attack from behind cue Oliver turning up and putting an arrow through his arm to stop the attack. Vixen explains to Oliver that she had that under control and Oliver explains that he knows but he needs her help.

Oliver takes Vixen back to HQ to meet the team and Samantha it appears that Vixen can harness the abilities of animals through a mystic charm that she wears around her neck meaning she may be able to help track the location of William. Vixen asks Samantha if she has anything that belongs to William and she hands over a Flash action figure to her, she begins to sniff the toy and warns Oliver that Barry must never hear about this and then that she has picked up Williams scent. The team head off to a hotel and we see Vixen sawing through the sky of the form of an Eagle checking to see how many guards Darhk has guarding William. Oliver is on the roof across from the hotel with Diggle and he apologizes for not telling him about William, Diggle says he understands why he kept it a secret as he is constantly worried about his own child Sara and that is why he knows where Sara is every moment of the day.

Oliver swings from the building and smashes through the window of the hotel only to be confronted by Darhk and William is nowhere in sight, Oliver draws and arrow and Darhk reminds him that he played that game before and he knows who wins. The pair begin to fight each other and Darhk gets the better of Oliver and puts him through a table, Vixen arrives to help Oliver and unleashes a wolf and starts to fight with Darhk he also manages to get the better of her and holds her in place with his powers and makes a comment that he knows where her charm comes from and when he kills her he will put it to better use. Oliver gets back to his feet and is about to attack but Darhk uses his powers to push Oliver out of a window, luckily he manages to grab the ledge and Vixen rushes to help him back in and it appears that Vixen has lost the scent of William and Darhk has vanished.

The team regroup back at HQ to discuss what they will do next to save William but as they are discussing this Oliver receives a call from Darhk to advise him he should not have gotten the Arrow involved in there deal and he has to get himself in front of the camera now and step down from the mayoral race. Oliver decides that he has not other choice but to step down despite the teams advice that he should not give in that easily but all he wants to do is get William back safe and he calls a press conference to step down and give his support to Ruve Adams. Vixen speaks to Oliver privately after the press conference and advises him that when they they get William back he should keep his distance from him to save anyone else using him against him in the future.

The team meet back at HQ to try and figure out the source of Darhk’s power as Vixen has never come across someone this powerful before and she brings up the fact that his must be using some sort of mystical artifact to draw his power from. Captain Lance tells the team that he thinks he has seen this artifact when he went to see Darhk and it was kept in a cabinet, Vixen asks Captain Lance if he can describe the artifact to her and she will try and draw a picture to help them figure out how it is powered he says he thinks he can and the pair go off to put the sketch together. The rest of the team head off to comb the street to see if they can track Darhk down in the mean time and Oliver asks Felicity if he can keep Samantha company while they do this.

Samantha and Felicity have a chat about the situation they are in and Samantha backs Oliver’s story up that she was the one who asked him to keep William a secret despite him telling her there was someone special in his life that he would like to tell. Evetually the team meet back at HQ and Vixen knows the exact artifact that Darhk is drawing his powers from and that it is powered by using lay lines and Felicity sets to work tracking the lay lines against the places they have faced Darhk. Felicity manages to pin point the nearest location that is central from there meeting with Darhk and the team head off to the mansion to save William and finally stop Darhk.

The team arrive at the mansion which is heavily guarded the team take up there positions as Vixen soars over head to give the team a birds eye view of what is going on. Oliver moves in and engages the guards and while Darhk is distracted by the noise outside Vixen swoops in through the window and before Darhk can grab her she flies off with the artifact. Just as the guards are defeated Darhk appears and grabs Oliver, Thea and Laurel in a choke and starts to squeeze the life from them, William comes out from behind him and Oliver tells him through gasped breathe to back inside. Darhk tells William to stay where he is and that he wants him to see this.

Meanwhile Vixen has met up with Diggle on the edge of the mansion grounds and she summons the strength of a Gorilla and starts smashing the artifact against a rock to try and destroy it. Vixen struggles at first but Diggle wills her to continue to try as he does not think the other three have much time left finally with one last almighty smash she destroys it and Oliver, Thea and Laurel drop to the ground. He looks concerned and tries to regain his control over them but this does not work and it appears his powers are now gone. Olive and Darhk begin to fight and Oliver manages to get a shot off with a trick arrow that ties Darhk up just before Oliver punches him unconscious.

The police SCPD turn up and place Darhk under arrest for the kidnap of William who is then reunited with his mum back at the police station she goes to give him his Flash action figure and the boy announces he would now like an Arrow action figure instead. Oliver leaves to say goodbye to Vixen who advises him maybe she was wrong about him keeping his distance from his son.

We then cut to a scene back at Oliver’s apartment of him filming a message to William explaining everything and that he has asked his mum to take him away and not tell anyone including him where they are going and that he asked his mum to only show him this when he turns 18 so he can make his own decision on if he wants to know Oliver. Felicity comes in and Oliver asks her how much she heard of that to which she replies all of it and that she cant believe he has made yet another big decision without her. Oliver tries to explain but Felicity has had enough and puts her engagement ring on the table and says she needs some time away from him as he is still keeping secrets from the one person he should tell everything. We then see Felicity’s foot move and she then takes her feet off her chair foot rests and stands for the first time after the accident she then turns and walks out on Oliver with the episode coming to an end.

The Flash SN2 EP15 – ‘ King Shark ‘

So it’s time once again for my review of The Flash and in this weeks episode we see Barry struggle with what happened on Earth-2, the return of King Shark, guest appearances from Diggle and Lyla and we the identity of Zoom is finally revealed.

So after Jay Garrick was killed at the end of the last episode we see the team looking visibly shaken by what was just at the beginning of the episode, Barry decides to concentrate on running around the city looking for other meta human threats while Caitlin struggles to come to terms with losing yet another love interest. Barry wants to go back to Earth-2 as he feels that he has left the whole planet at the mercy of Zoom now they have  closed all the portals. Dr Wells explains to Barry that it is impossible to go back as all the portals have now been closed and there is no way of reopening them.

We then go off to a secret Argus facility where is appears they have been holding King Shark prisoner in a large tank with a laser grid over the top of to stop him from escaping. He appears to have gone belly up so the guards decide to shut down the laser grid, cue the scene cutting to Lyla and Diggle arriving at the facility and we find out that Lyla has been promoted to the new head of Argus and has been tasked with cleaning up Wallers mess. The alarm sounds and the pair arrive to see all the guards dead and King Shark having a snack on them as he sees the Lyla and Diggle appear he makes a break for it and escapes.

Diggle and Lyla pay Barry and team a visit to advise them that King Shark has escaped from the Argus facility as it appears that Amanda Waller had captured him and were experimenting on him to see if they could use his genetic make up to make weapons. Barry is frustrated by this and is not going to wait around for King Shark to find him and that he is going to take the fight to him instead. Barry, Diggle, Lyla and the Argus team take off to track him down by searching the nearest bodies of water next to Central City. The group eventually find him but are unable to capture him and he makes a meal out of another two Argus agents.

During the episode we see Dr Wells warn Barry and Cisco that they must not tell the others about there Earth-2 counter parts, the pair agree to not tell them anything but we see Caitlin’s attitude change towards people. Cisco begins to worry that she is becoming exactly like Killer Frost after she the pair pay King Sharks Earth-1 wife and Caitlin becomes inpatient after they ask for a look at her research. She also snaps at Cisco later on for trying to help her go through the research and find a way to track King Sharks movements.

We also see some issues arise between Barry and Wally during a family game night at the West household, Wally beats Barry’s cup stacking record and makes the claim that no-one is faster than him. Barry is offered the chance to regain his title but he doesn’t seem interesting in having fun with the rest of the West family, Wally seems to be a bit put out by this and decides to head off as he has plans. Joe and Iris pick up on something not being right but there unable to get it out of Barry at this point in time. Joe later arranges for Barry and Wally to meet up at the house to help Wally with his project to get into a engineering college programme, Barry reluctantly agrees to come along and help him out as he knows he needs to take his mind off King Shark.

The pair meet up and at first it takes them sometime to warm up to each other as Barry goes straight into nerd mode and starts telling Wally where he needs to improve his engine designs and Wally states that he asked for his help and not for him to do the work for him. The pair then get down to work and seem to be working well together until Barry gets ahead of his self again and states to Wally that he is trying to help and doesn’t want the college to have a reason to say no to him. Wally takes offence to this and goes to storm out Barry goes after him to ask what his problem is only for Wally to tell him that he has had enough of hearing how amazing and perfect Barry is from Joe and Iris. Just as the pair are arguing King Shark arrives by tearing the roof of the house looking for The Flash as he can smell that he is there. Barry makes sure that Wally is not looking and rushes outside to confront Killer Shark, the fight is short lived with Barry being thrown against a car but before King Shark can finish the job Argus arrive on the scene and scare him off.

Barry arrives back in the house as the West’s are tidying up the mess and Wally turns to Barry and asks if he has been hiding under his bed he had heard he was meant to be this amazing person and he didn’t take him for a coward this causes Joe to snap at Wally before he leaves the house looking annoyed that his father has taken Barry’s side. Barry tries to defend Wally but Iris and Joe know there is something else wrong with him, Barry comes clean and tells him all about there Earth-2 counter parts and what happened to Joe and that even though it was not his Joe that died it was still just as painful. Barry also admits that he feels like it is his fault that Jay was killed due to him being the one who opened the breaches, Joe and Iris advise him that it is not his fault and that he needs to move past this if he is ever going to be happy.

We go back to Star labs and Cisco confronts Caitlin about her behaviour and accidentally lets slip that she is acting like she was over there. Caitlin manages to get out of Cisco about meeting her Earth-2 counter park and what she was like and is a little shocked to think Cisco would think she could turn into that sort of person and that she just needs time to get over losing Jay. Eventually Caitlin manages to find out that King Shark uses Barry’s electric charge in order to track him giving the group the idea to reverse this process to track him instead. Barry, Caitlin, Diggle, Lyla and the Argus team head off to the river to try and lure King Shark out with a decoy of Barry giving out an electric pulse.

King Shark takes the bait but the tranquillisers that Cisco has planted in the decoy have had not effect and he ends up on land and it appears that bullets don’t do any good against him so Barry takes off over the water and King Shark gives chase. Barry uses his electric charge to send shocks through the water harming King Shark before sprinting around in a whirlwind and eventually hitting him with his now trademark lightening bolt rendering him unconscious. Argus reel him in and place in him an impenetrable holding cell so that he can be transferred back to the facility, Lyla promises Barry that they won’t be experimenting on him like Waller was. We also see Diggle give Barry some advice as he has noticed that Barry has been struggling and it’s around how to losing people that are close to you and using his experience of when he was in Afghanistan and lost his friends.

We see Caitlin catch Cisco out by touching her with her cold hands and when he calls he Caitlin she asks why she is calling her that and she hates that name before laughing at him, Cisco obviously doesn’t find it very funny but is glad to see her a bit happier.

At the end of the episode we see Barry call everyone together and advise them that he is not ready to give up on Jay and that they will find a way to get back to Earth-2 and also that he plans on stopping Zoom once and for all when he gets there revealing Jay’s helmet in a case to honour his memory. We see a cut scene to Earth-2 and Zoom holding the body of Jay he drops him on the floor and the prisoner with the metal mask looks distraught, we then finally see Zoom remove his mask only to reveal the face of Jay Garrick and says “Well this is a complication”.
