Are The Weeping Angels Making A Return In Doctor Who ?

As we know, most sets are recycled when making TV shows. Doctor Who does this as well, but it’s still fun to know that they are recycling a loved set from the David Tennant era in the new episodes with Peter Capaldi. And the set to be named is that of the episode Blink where we meet the scary as all heck Weeping Angels for the first time. And these guys gave me nightmares… I’m so not kidding.

FATLE4XHLZRSWMK.MEDIUM

The set is in Newport and there are pictures on cultbox that are proof of the stars on location. Though this set has been used not only in Doctor Who but in Torchwood as well, it’s still fun to know its being recycled again. I know I will now be inspecting the episodes more closely to see if I can spot something familiar in the backgrounds.

Not sure if you all think this is newsworthy, but I found it interesting for sure. Just something to keep us excitedly waiting for the new season to start….. this spring…. So long to wait… 0.o

Doctor Who Comics, With 4 Doctors!!!!!!!

OMG I am currently hooked on the Doctor Who comics. Been mostly reading the David Tennant 10th Doctor ones (because he is my fav) but recently I found a series that includes all 4 doctors! Yes! I mean, it has Doctors 9, 10, 11 and 12 all interlocking in one big story line that includes Cybermen, Sontariens, and more. But I am sad to say there are only 5 comics in this series…. Why??? 😥

Just the idea alone is awesome. I loved “the Day of the Doctor” episode of Doctor Who when they had Matt Smith, David Tennant and John Hurt, plus the special guest of one of the original Doctors from the past seasons, Tom Baker! (yes, he with the scarf and wonderful nose!!) This was truly fantastic and made me squeal the whole time watching this episode. You can imagine what I looked like reading this comic! LOL!

This year is the 50th anniversary of the Cybermen, and Titan Comics decided to give us all a thrill with comics called Supremacy of the Cybermen, in celebration of them. In the stories, the Cybermen have captured the ousted Gallifreyan leader Rassilon and get their robotic mitts on the time travel technology. It’s up to the four incarnations of the Doctor to stop them. The series not only has our fab four, but also companions of the past, such as Rose Tyler and Captain Jack Harkness!! The wonderful story is written by George Mann and Cavan Scott, with art by Alessandro Vitti.

I have only acquired the first edition right now… and am hooked. I love what they are trying to do here. They should do a movie… another movie where they gather all our boys to stop the Cybermen. If you have not yet picked up one of these comics, you really should. I mean, I don’t know about you, but I get to craving some more Tennant or Smith action (insert dirty joke here…. giggles) And this gives me them and more!! Plus my friends, if you have not just picked up other Doctor Who comics, then you are missing out. They are beautifully illustrated, fun to read, and really do well capturing the essence of our Doctors in the stories. ^_^

‘He’s Back, And It’s About Time!’ – Doctor Who: The Movie Comes To Blu-Ray This September

doctor-who-tv-movie-mcgann

BBC Worldwide have announced a Blu-ray release for Doctor Who: The Movie. The film was a co-production between the BBC and Universal and was broadcast as a TV Movie on the 27th May 1996 on BBC1 in the UK and 14th May on Fox in the USA. It stars Paul McGann as the Doctor, Daphne Ashbrook as one-off companion Grace Holloway, Yee Jee Tso as Asian-American gangster Chang Lee and Eric Roberts as the Master. To date it remains Paul McGann’s only full television appearance, although he later returned in the 2013 minisode Night of the Doctor and continues to record audio dramas for Big Finish Productions.

The nature of the Blu-ray release is unclear. Whilst it is thought that Universal may hold a film copy of the TV Movie in their vault (which would allow for a ‘true HD’ picture), it is very unlikely that the film will be restored into full HD. The special effects were not made in high definition, therefore would need to be created entirely from scratch and the entire film would have to be re-edited as the movie was originally put together on videotape. Steve Roberts of the Restoration Team (who worked on the previous classic series releases including 2013’s Spearhead From Space Blu-ray) also tweeted ‘People asking about an alleged DW TVM Blu-ray, you know as much as I do’. The likelihood therefore is that this will be an upscale similar to the Blu-ray treatment of Series 1-4.

Amazon’s product description is as follows:

Whilst returning the Master’s remains to their home planet of Gallifrey, the Doctor (Sylvester McCoy) crash lands the TARDIS on Earth in end-of-century San Francisco. Gunned down by a street gang, the Doctor is rushed to hospital, where exploratory surgery by Doctor Grace Holloway triggers a regeneration. The Master has meanwhile taken over the body of a paramedic and infiltrated the Doctor’s TARDIS, which he plans to use in his latest scheme to take over the Doctor’s new body and destroy the world. Filmed as the pilot for a revived ‘Doctor Who’ series – tailored to the American market – which subsequently failed to materialise, this feature-length adventure introduces Paul McGann as the renegade Time Lord.

The release is listed as containing two discs on Amazon. Whilst this has yet to be confirmed by BBC Worldwide, it is safe to assume that this will be the case given that the Special Edition DVD release also contained two discs. Whether the special features from the Special Edition DVD will carry over is another matter, although it would be a shame if the Blu-ray doesn’t at least contain the Behind The Scenes location footage and alternate takes. Hopefully there will be some new features too; a retrospective on the TV Movie featuring contributions from Paul McGann and Daphne Ashbrook would be nice.

Doctor Who: The Movie comes to Blu-ray on the 19th September 2016. Hopefully these shoes will fit perfectly and classic series Blu-ray box sets will follow.

Could Raj From The Big Bang Theory Be Our New Doctor Who

This could be cool. And who better to play this role than the Big Bang Theory star Kunal Nayyar!

Kunal Nayyar

In case any of you don’t know who he is, he plays Rajesh Koothrappali on the Big Bang Theory. Raj is a semi shy Indian boy who is extremely awkward, used to be terrified of women and says the wrong things all the time. The show is going into its tenth season so if you have not seen this, you need to stop reading this right now and start binging out because you are missing a pretty awesome show. You’ve got nine past seasons to catch up on so get on it!

raj

He recently revealed his want to play the Doctor. According to radiotimes.com, while doing an interview he talked about an incident with a fan at ComicCon. The fan had asked him a question about the TARDIS, and Kunal asked “What’s a TARDIS?” and ended up getting a boo down. I hope he knows his stuff a little better now since that incident. This would make or break him in the fans’ eyes for sure.

On the side note here, I think he would be fun to watch as the next Doctor. I personally have loved each actor from past to now who has played this role and think he would make a fine addition to our large Doctor Who family line. And his accent would be fantastic to the ears when he says “sonic screwdriver” and “TARDIS.” ^_^

DO YOU WANT TO BuY A DALEK?????? …SURE!

Ok two things come to mind when hearing this sentence… First, I hear it in the tune of the Disney Frozen song, Do You Want to Build a Snowman (do you want to buy a dalek, and ride him up and down the hall)  and two, how much money is in my account right now…

AnnaElsaDalek.png

This is actually a TV show in the works. It’s a show where people can bid on Daleks…. And why the hell not right? I mean I would love to have a life size replica in my home. Talk about fantastic!! The show is was looking for potential buyers of a life-sized black Dalek and airs on Tuesday July 26th in Bristol. This Dalek is priced at £2000 (which is more than American cash.) The show this Dalek is being aired on is called “Sell or Swap” where people can bid on a mix of items from antiques, expensive or second hand memorabilia. If anyone has the cash (I wish) or would like to participate in this show, they have a link here to contact: cleodixey@crookproductions.com

This is the actual Dalek in question… EEEEEEEEKKKKK!!!!

I’ve seen life-sized Daleks at the Comic Con here in Portland, and I have my picture with said Dalek while dressed in my Tennant outfit. It was so neat, and it was made of metal I believe… there was a person in there driving around, taking pictures with everyone. You can imagine how many pictures this person had to pose for.. (lol pose) Kind of makes you wonder if they were able to actually get from one destination to the next. Though being the Dalek at a comic con convention would be cool, I personally don’t think I would like the attention, at some point I would be like “dude I have to pee!!” Then again, if I had the voice box of the Dalek too…. Well, that may change things ^_^

Buffy Who The Vampire Slayer? – Joss Whedon Would Write For A Female Doctor

landscape-1469634797-dr-who-whedon

Speaking at San Diego Comic Con’s Nerd HQ, Joss Whedon has stated he would write for Doctor Who…but only if the Doctor is female or played by Idris Elba.

In response to a fan’s question of whether he would consider writing for the show, Joss Whedon said ‘Check back when the Doctor is a she. Or Idris Elba!’. However he later stated that he would consider it ‘daunting’ to ‘follow in the footsteps of Moffat and the guys’. Another concern he expressed was the amount of researched involved in writing for Doctor Who.

‘I’d have to do a lot of research. Like, what, watch 40 years of television? I mean, I’ve seen some of it, but let’s get real,’ He told Nerd HQ on Sunday.

Personally, I have to disagree with Joss Whedon’s notion about the amount of research involved. Some of the best Doctor Who stories ignore the continuity previously established in the show – 2007’s Blink, for example, barely even featured the Doctor and is widely considered a classic by Whovians. One of the many things 80s producer John Nathan Turner was accused of was pandering too closely to Doctor Who’s mythology and alienating new viewers in the process. 1985’s The Two Doctors brought back the second Doctor (as played by Patrick Troughton) only two years’ after his last appearance!

Joss Whedon is one of the Media Industry’s strongest writers and I am sure he could think up an original idea that would attract the audience’s imagination rather than rely too heavily on the show’s past. He’s also the mind behind some of the industry’s strongest female characters including the likes of Buffy Summers and arguably one of the most awesome SHIELD Agents of all time: Melinda May (whilst he is not the showrunner of Agents of SHIELD, he was one of the writers behind the show’s very first episode). Doctor Who has a long history of strong female characters – the fourth Doctor’s companion Romana (a Time Lady from the planet Gallifrey) being the most notable example – and who wouldn’t want to see Joss Whedon gift the show another? Hell, I’d give anything to see Joss Whedon write Lalla Ward’s Romana!

Also: note to Joss Whedon – Doctor Who’s been on nearly 53 years, not 40.

Delay In The Doctor Who Series!! OH NOOOOOO!!!

dw

Yes, my fellow Whoivians, you heard right. There will be yet another delay in the series we love so much. According to mirror.co.uk, the next series won’t be until spring of next year!! Whoa, what???? What about the Christmas episode? Will we have to wait for this as well? Is it me, or does it seem to take forever for another season to start with Doctor Who?

dw-doom2

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!

I guess this is the last season for Chief Boss Steven Moffat, so he is wanting a big finale for his last time with the show. Plus this will allow the BBC to air the show on Sundays again. According to cultbox.co.uk, whose post was just updated this month, Peter Capaldi will continue to be the Doctor at least until the Christmas special in 2017, but they’re not sure if he will be with the new director, Chris Chibnall.  Filming did begin, however, on June 20, 2016.  Too bad they won’t be ready for us by September…… of this year…. Just sayin’…

3ea482a639264788e6dd337fa75e15066761499c31771a473477d270111ccf99

Trust me, Doctor, I’m not pleased about it either…

So there will still be 12 episodes of the new season, and they will start after the Christmas special of 2016. Thank goodness there will still at least be a Christmas special for this year… I was going to cry. Then by the following Christmas special in 2017, we may or may not have a new Doctor….

Dang…… so much change, my poor anxiety can’t handle it all…. AAHHH! Ok, just kidding. This is pretty exciting news. And there won’t be as many two-part episodes as last year. (I am happy for this, hate waiting a whole week to find out what the hell happened lol! ) Hopefully these next 12 episodes won’t disappoint (like they could anyway, right??) and Mr. Moffat does go out with a bang, paving a new road for the next Chief Boss Mr. Chibnall to make his entrance.

In the mean time my friends, we have comics, thank goodness for the comics. Oh and they do auditory episodes as well, so if you need your fix, there are those options and reruns…. Reruns are always good for the brain. (and if you have not seen the super retro episodes, you should really get on that) ^_^

Matt Smith Regenerating As Doctor Who??

dr who matt smith

It has been hinted by Steven Moffat that Matt Smith could be the first to regenerate as  Doctor Who and returning to his beloved Tardis. He would be the first of the 13th Doctors (yes, I count the War Doctor (played by John Hurt) to regenerate as his former self, which is very  unique and has not been done on the show before.

matt-smith-doctor-who-image-01

Matt Smith has been open about his desire to return to the series. Which could be a good thing as Peter Capaldi has been tipped to leave the show after the next series, which would be televised in 2017. My head hurts thinking about the fact if Matt Smith would be the 14th or the 11th Doctor again. Nice discussion to be had by the way. But whoever the 14th Doctor might be (or 11th again) I hope that he or she will do that legacy justice. And that we get to enjoy Doctor Who and his or hers companions for quite some time.

As many of the die-hard fans know Steven Moffat is also leaving Doctor Who at the end of this series after six years. So big changes could be ahead for Doctor Who if all goes as according to plan. Stay tuned for more info as this all unfolds.

An Interview With Cosplayer Eris Cosplay

main2.png

Hi Readers

It’s time for another cosplay interview, this time we meet Eris Cosplay! Eris Cosplay grabbed my attention by her awesome Doctor Who cosplays, I haven’t seem many on the net yet but hers were some of the best. Let’s find out some more about Eris Cosplay.

1) How did you get into cosplaying?

I’ve always loved to get dress up, every year I waited for Halloween like Christmas, it was the only time of the year I could be my favourite characters or just be spooky and scary. On 2013 at my ever first Con I met Ivy Doomkitty, and we talked for a while and I told her that I was too afraid to do what they do, but I was dying inside for trying it!! She was so sweet and told me “Do it, you won’t regret it” those words made my mind up and I decided to do my ever first costume…and it was Kara Zor-El a.k.a SuperGirl! I actually never used it at a Con, the ever first costume I used at a Con was my Harley Quinn dress, and Oh boy, Ivy was right, I haven’t regretted a single thing I have done in this adventure.

2

2) Where do you get your inspiration and ideas to cosplay from? Is it from programs you watch now or childhood programs or both?

I usually like to browse around on the web and find fanart of the characters I love, I like to do that because I feel that the person who drew that has leave a little part of his/her heart on their art, and I also got inspiration from the comics I read and the programs I watch, sadly I haven’t fulfilled my childhood dreams and been Sailor Moon, but soon I will made my little 5 year old me proud!

3) How do you put your outfits together are they 100% from scratch and if so what’s been your trickiest part to date?

Right now I don’t possess the necessary skills to do a costume from scratch, so a close friend helps me to put them together, but hopefully soon I will be able to do them myself, but don’t get mistaken, it isn’t easy to just leave by their luck something as an important as the creation of your baby, so you have to be extra detailed on how the costume should look.

4) What’s your favourite cosplay to date?

That is a tough question, I have loved every single one I have on my closet, but if I’ll have to choose, it will be Harley Quinn, my two versions of Harley I have done so far are so fun to use, you can be as crazy as you want and make people smile!

1

5) If you’ve cosplayed at a convention what was the experience like?

It was so fun! I was so nervous but the moment I step on the convention floor I knew I was going to have the time of my life, and I did, it was great meeting people who love the fandoms that you do and taking pictures with everyone, if you are curious about cosplay, you should definitely try it, you won’t regret it 😉

6) Can we expect to see you at any conventions this year?

Well, here in Mexico we have kinda like our version of San Diego Comic Con, it is called La Mole Comic Con, and it takes place on September of this year, so I’ll definitely be there with some friends, we have a surprise that I can’t wait to you to see!

3

7) If you could cosplay as anyone and budget wasn’t an issue who would it be?

I want so bad to try the Arkham Knight Harley Quinn, that is my cosplay dream and because one thing or another I haven’t been able to do it, but I swear to the Cosplay Gods I will do it and it’s gonna be amazing!

8) Do you have any words of advice for up and coming cosplayers?

We all are here for the fun and the experience to meet new people and share the love to our fandoms, so don’t be shy, give it a try and be yourself, because we are all authentic and don’t let anyone put you down, follow your dreams and let your imagination fly as high as you want, remember; the sky is the limit.

9) Where can we find you online?

Here is where we can stay in touch and you can contact me (:

There you go readers Eris Cosplay! Don’t be shy go say hi and say ‘Skatronixxx sent me!’
