Jared Leto Opens Up About Playing The Joker

joker

I gotta admit I wasn’t sold on him at first but he’s turned me around – Skatronixxx

In the next issue of Empire Magazine, Oscar winner Jared Leto opens up about playing the Clown Prince of Crime and the weird method acting he undertook to get into the mind of the nefarious Batman villan The Joker.

In a move that would scare the bejeezus out of any sane human being. Leto found it appropriate to send his co-stars dead animals int he mail with cryptic messages attached. In a preview of the cover interview over at ComicBook Moviue, Leto revealed. ‘There was definately a period of … detachment,’ explaing that ‘I took a pretty deep dive. But this was a unique oppertunity and I coudln’t imagine doing it another way. It was fun, playing those psychological games. But at the sametime it was very painful, like giving birth out of my prickhole.’ (WHATTTTTT??? – Skatronix )

In the interview Leto also recounted his method of staying in character, which consistered of listening to 1920’s gospel and reading about Shamans. ‘I always get the sense that The Joker may be much older than people think.’ Leto said. ‘It’s something different. If you don’t break rules you’re not going to strike new ground. I think I’ll be cooling down for the rest of my life’.

In the same issue Empire also previewed some exclusive shots of Jared Leto’s debut as The Joker and the first live action characterisation of Harley Quinn of course played by the phenomenally talented Margot Robbie in next years Suicide Squad.

Killer Frost To Debut On Season 2 Of The Flash

killerfrost

Caitlin how could you turn to the dark side nooooooooooo – Skatronixxx

The CW recently revealed a new image of actress Danielle Panabaker in her Killer Frost guise for the first time since the brief glimpse at the end of The Flash first season.

In an episode of CBS’s The Talk on Friday, the actress revealed the stages it took to get the look right: ‘Our first suit was a one-peice, kind of like Catwoman, but it didn’t feel quite right. So we changed it to be a top and these really coool elather pants. And the hair was awesome.’

As fans know, Caitlin Snow becomes the classic Flash foe as a result of an encounter with Damien Darhk’s villanous HIVE organisation. A character recently debuted in Arrow season 4 alongisde his ‘Ghosts’, henchmen that make up the mystical organisation.

In a press conference at New York Comic-Con at the start of this month, the actor portraying Darhk in the new season, Neal McDonough; revealed that Damien is to be featured prominently across all three DC shows with the villan receiving a flash-back episode on the hotly anticipated ‘Legends Of Tomorrow’ that debuts next year.

The episode will feature the new tram travelling back 40 years, where McDonough quips ‘I look exactly the same in 1975 but you see he’s not as confident, and doesn’t have such an agenda … as he does now.’

With this information signalling that Dahks agenda will radiate throughout the Arrow-verse, it seems reasonable to assume that Caitlin Snow’s transformation will come sooner rather than later. Given that an already confirmed second team-up episode between Arrow and The Flash is scheduled for later this year before the Christmas holiday hiatus in the states.

But what do you think Arrow-Flash fans. Is it too soon to turn beloved Caitlin into a villan on the show? Or would a change in character present the chance to show a villans perspective on the show?

Who do you prefer Caitlin or Felicity?

A Buffy The Vampire Slayer Reboot For 2015

buffy

If you could bring Buffy back how would you do it?

Ok for my latest blog, I put a vote to you my readers, followers and #Skatfamily about what you would like to see on my site next. I offered severeal choices, my thoughts on a reboot of Buffy, Charmed or Firefly and Buffy won. So here I am with my latest blog to discuss who I think would be ideal characters in a Buffy reboot.

Now a lot has been talked about a Buffy reboot for years, it’s one of those stories that does the rounds, gains some traction and is more. or less forgetten about. Now there where a few ways I could have chosen to do a Buffy reboot and they were as follows:-

Pick up where they left off – Dark Buffy

 He’s baaaaaaaaaaaaaack

Buffy is now a peaceful suburban soccermom, who has left her past life well and firmly behind her. Buffy has been having problems sleeping lately and keeps on dreaming of a mysterious man in black, calling out to her. Who is this man and how has he managed to enter Buffy’s dreams? Buffy shrugs off the dreams as a flashback to her past, until one evening during dinner the doorbell rings. At the doorbell is a scruffy looking man, who is revealed to be Xander, who tries to speak but just utters the words ‘Buff..’ before Spike (yes Spike) pushes him out the way to say ‘We got a bloody big problem here love and we need your help’.

The man in the dreams is revealed to be the new dark overlord and supreme vampire GILES! DUM DUM DUM!!!

Now I know there’s a few plot holes in this idea, but this is just an idea I came up in 5 minutes on how to continue the show, now I know after the show finished it continued in the comics, but who says we have to follow the comics?

The Next Generation – Buffy ‘The New Class’

Xander as a woodshop teacher? It’ll happen in this reboot

All is back to normal at Sunnydale High (yes I know the town got sucked into the hellmouth, but run with me on this one), Buffy’s children twin boys and girls named Angelica (after Angel) and Spike (after well Spike) are starting thier freshman year. A series of mysterious deaths and illnesses plague the school, they see thier ‘Uncle Xander’ making stakes in the woodshop class that he now teaches with thier ‘Aunty Willow’ the school librarian and curiously follow them where down into the school basement, where they see them running into their principal stuffy englishman  Rupert, Ruper Giles.  Why are ‘Uncle Xander’ the woodshop teacher, ‘Aunty Willow’ the librarian and principal Giles heading to the basement with stakes? As they head down into the basement they run into thier MOM????

This would make a great plot for a few simple reasons, you have the previous characters already established in the series, with roles that tie them to their past. A woodshop teacher who has easy access to an array of weapons (now I know a woodshop teacher with one eye is not good for depth perception but the eye situation will be cleared up), a powerful wiccan in charge of a school library with hidden books at her fingertips and Giles overseeing the whole operation.

————————————————————————————————————————————————–

Now the first two ideas are examples of what you can come up with if you have a little imagination, I’m sure if you’re a Buffy ran and you’re reading this you would come up with ideas too! Why not write them, share them with the world, who knows you could end up being the next Joss Whedon, you gotta start somewhere!

————————————————————————————————————————————————–

A Good Old Fashioned Reboot

Quite simply to stop my mind running away with me, due to the previous ideas *failed writer alert* I’ll keep this one nice and easy, it’ll just be recasting iconic characters from the Buffy universe with my reasons for doing so. Now I know there’s a few characters I’ve left off like Oz, Tara, Riley and Dawn but if I did them all this article would be huge, so let’s keep it short with the main characters. Who better to start with than:-

Buffy – Emily Browning

I’d prefer her to perennial favourites Diane Aragon and that one from ‘Pretty Little Liars’

For Buffy you need the quintessential girl next door, you’d expect her not to say boo to a ghost but when your back is turned she needs to not only confront the ghost but zap it up ‘Ghostbusters’ stylie. For me there was only one choice and that is EMILY BROWNING. Now I know that some of you may be thinking WHO???? To answer the doubters all I’ll say is watch ‘Suckerpunch’. When I was first watching that film, I was like WHAT THE HELL IS THIS, by the end I was damn she’s a good actress.

Giles – Anthony Stewart Head/Kelsey Grammer

There’s only one Rupert but if  you can’t bring him back I’d settle for Kelsey ‘Frasier’ Grammer

Like another one of the characters who you will read about later there is only one choice for Rupert Giles and that is the original Giles himself ANTHONY STEWART HEAD. When you think of ASH you think of Giles, yes he’s played other roles like Uther Pendragon in Merlin; but I’m sorry other than being the Nescafe man, when you think of him you think of Giles. You know I’m right you’re thinking of him as Giles now, sitting in his library being all ‘english’. Now if we couldn’t get ASH to come back we need a back up and I’m happy with the reserve choice of KELSEY GRAMMAR. I mean imagine Fraiser being a librarian warlock and fighting vampires, that writes itself.

Willow – Holland Roden

My fave ginger lady of all time, heck one of my fave women of all time Holland Roden

Yes I know they are both ginger, but that’s besides the point. For the character of Willow you need an actress who is able to play a complex multi-layered character and for me that is none other than HOLLAND RODEN. For anyone who has seen Teen Wolf, her portrayal especially the series when she is tormented by evil werewolf Peter Hale, will know where I’m coming from on this one!

Xander – Thomas Dekker

I could see this work

This one was probably the hardest to cast, I thought of many different people but to quote famous poet Carol Ann Duffy ‘love is an onion, it has many layers’ well so does Xander. At first he seems like to lovable goof and comedic supporting character but as the series progresses so does his character. So I needed someone who was a little under the radar, someone who people may think ‘oh it’s that guy from you know, that show’ so as time progressed so did his character. For this I chose THOMAS DEKKER. Again some of you may be going who? If you watched TV series Secret Circle you’d be familiar with his work as Adam Conat. When the series started you were kinda like this character is ok but as it progressed you were like wow, this guys interesting and for me it had to be him.

Angel – Zac Efron

Loyal fans hear me out why I think he’d be awesome SERIOUSLY!!!

Now I may lose some followers over this choice. But hear me out, I used to be like you. I used to think it was cool not like ZAC EFFRON. That was until I saw ‘Me & Orson Welles’, then I watched other films he has been in and was surprised. That guy can act. Yeah I know he was that singing, dancing kiddo from ‘High School Musical’ but it’s always good to have someone on hand, incase they decide to do a remake of ‘Once More With Feeling’. As for his role as Angel, yeah I know you couldn’t get two people who are more polar opposites, but give the guy a chance. He might surprise you.

Spike – James Marsters

There’s only one Spike and yes he’s confirmed he’d do it if they did a remake I’m sorry but there is only one choice for  Spike and it’s the one and only JAMES MARSTERS. Yes I know he may be too old to play opposite a younger Buffy but here me out, he’s a vampire, vampires don’t age! HELLO  SPECIAL FX!!! Plus if you’re one of those inernet people who was campaigning for James ‘Cyclops’ Marsden, NO JUST NO! I mean other than similar sounding names, what the hell are you thinking??? So yeah it’s the one and original for me all the way baby!!!

Cordelia – Jessica Parker Kennedy

Cordelia was Buffy’s arch nemesis in the early series of Buffy, before eventually falling in love with Xander Harris and joining the scooby gang. Her character was similar to that of Xander’s in the fact that it was multi-layered. When the series was shown I first found her annoying but then when she left I was like noooooooooooooooooooooooo. For me I chose to pick another ‘Secret Circle’ alumni in the form of SARAH JESSICA KENNEDY. Not only would her and Thomas Dekker have previous acting experience opposite each other, they both have played multi layered characters especially with her portayal of Melissa. Don’t agree with me? Go and watch ‘Secret Circle’.

Anya – Gage Golightly

This is probably the ‘recast’ I’d be most psyched about

She is the last one in the article but the first one I cast, why? Well to be Anya you need to be sassy, fiery yet vunerable at the same time, a woman who’d kick your ass and wan’t to cuddle you the next. For me that is GAGE GOLIGHTLY (yes that is her real name). Teen Wolf fans may remember her starring as Erica Reyes, I for one would have wanted to see her have a bigger role in Teen Wolf and is gutted she’s no longer in it 😦 Ask me this, imagine Erica from Teen Wolf as a vegeance demon, to quote Daniel Bryan ‘YES, YES, YES’.

Daniel Bryan approves of this choice 😛

—————————————————————————————————————————————-

So there you go, there’s my choices for a Buffy remake? Agree with the choices? Like them? Don’t like them? It seems everyone has an opinion on Buffy and whilst we wait around for a possible remake, the choices seem to vary daily. Who knows in a year I may pick completely different people again.

Like what you see follow me on Twitter I’m @skatronixxxand we’re now on Facebook with https://www.facebook.com/SkatronixxxCom-1508461732803249/

Lionsgate Finds Its Black Ranger

ludilin

Another day, another Power Ranger announcement yay!

You wait a generation for a new movie Ranger and you get two in the same week. As news spreads that Lionsgate have found their new leader and Red Ranger in the form of Dacre Montgomery for their reboot, re-imagining … oh heck, lets just call it an re-sequel for now shall we. They go ahead and also cast the new Black Ranger.

It was announced via the Power Rangers Movie Twitter account that Ludi Lin would don the helmet as the new Black Ranger. I relative new comer, Lin’s acting credentials include various Tv movies and an appearance on the Netflix original show Marco Polo (2014).

Lin joins the growing cast of the new Power Rangers Movie that goes into production sometime next year which will be helmed by Project Almanac (2014) Director Dean Israelite.

In Defence Of Season 3 Of Arrow

arrow

Why was season 3 of Arrow slated so much?

Okay, I fess up. I recently marathoned through all 23 epsiodes that made up the much maligned season 3 of everyone’s favourite emerald archer. And I have to say … it really isn’t as bad as everyone likes to think.

I’m not going to lie, the season has its issues, which I will go into but overall Arrow took brave decisions that will pay off in the long run.

Is that Superman … nope it’s Ray Palmer

Is that Superman, no wait it’s Iron Man, oh no it’s DC’s The Atom

On the face of it, billionaire-tech-genuis Ray ‘The Atom’ Palmer was nothing more than a rebound for Felicity Smoak after Ollie felt he couldn’t be the Arrow and be in a relationship with her. This label however comes as a detriment to the character that Brandon Routh moulded into a three dimensional human being, even with the little material he was given. I will admit that hindsight is 20-20. Perhaps if I didn’t know that Ray Palmer was about to star in the fourth spin-off to Arrow (Legends of Tomorrow) thus giving us the oppertunity to get to know the character further. I wouldn’t have invested much patience into caring for The Atom. But Palmers snarky-wittism and comic relief was wasted when he was paired with Felicity. A big no-no with Arrow-Heads (if that is not a fandom term MAKE IT HAPPEN INTERNET) who have been shipping Oliver and Felicity for quite a while now.

In a way, I suppose your acceptance of Ray is a comment on where you place value on romantic relationships in Arrow. If you ship Oliver and Felicity, then her attraction with Palmer mar both your perceptions of the pair. I mean I kinda like them together so Ray comes off as a great addition to the team. And I feel sorry for the guy when Felicity eventually goes back to Ollie. I know he is the Arrow and can do the bar-thing … but Ray is fricking DC Iron man, that counts for something right?

Overall Palmer was an interesting and necessary addition to the story of season 3. As an introduction to the character it makes me eager to see how he interacts with the eclectic personalities that make up the Legends of Tomorrow team when it debuts next year.

Exit Laurel … Enter Black Canary

Who is your favourite Black Canary? Sara or Laurel?

Oliver Queen’s former flame Laurel Lance has been a bone of contention for fans since day one, in no small part down to the audience expectations vs the purpose of the Arrow when it comes to justice in Starling City. Throw in the arguably more popular character of Sara Lance dressed to the nines as the first incarnation of the Canary in season  2. Then Laurel automatically becomes the less cool Lance sibling in comparison.

So the decision to murder a fan-favourite like Sara in the opening to season 3 was a brave move but allowed Laurel to take her place as the Black Canary. The hero that she was destined to become.

I’m all for the slow burn when it comes to seeing someone become a hardened super hero. My years of watching origin films have taught me that the payoff is often worth the squeeze of training montages and heroes crawling up walls (Haha Spiderman reference). That being said Laurel’s self defence classes with former vigilante Ted ‘Wildcat’ Grant suffered from a non-comital by the show runners. Maybe they were worried about dedicating so much time to Laurel, which ultimately works against them. I’m not asking for another awkward romance (hello season 1 Tommy drama) but maybe a more trial and error process to her vigilante training involving Wildcat before Laurel was launched head-first into a fist fight with Vinnie Jones would’ve been eaiser to believe.

Regardless of what opinion of Laurel you subscribe too. It was about time she took control of her destiny. Treated as a victim for far too long, from guilt over Sara’s apparent death on the Queen’s gambit to her battle with alcohol abuse. It was refreshing to see a positive aspect to Laurel’s character development on the show other than self pitying.

Although I wouldn’t go as far as to say that Laurel’s transformation into Black Canary has made her a fan favourite on the show. Her evolution as a character was much needed with season 3’s overall darker tone suited to Laurel’s family tragedy. With her transformation into the canary just beginning hopefully the writers can explore other aspects to her personality. Let’s just hope that with the many sidekicks that surround the Arrow going into season 4, Laurel doesn’t get lost in the ranks.

What about that ‘League’ though?

Why has no one mentioned Batman yet?

For a mythical organisation that has been teased since the shows beginning. The League of Assassins needed to pay off big time and although they felt inept at times. The League’s presence certainly transformed our core core group in irreversible ways.

Through Ra’s Al-Ghul transforming Ollie into a soulless assassin the later half ot the season, to killing Thea in order to force Ollie into becoming Heir to the Demon. The Leagues perhaps was served best in showing what Malcolm Merlyn has been running away from all these years.

With John Barrowman becoming regular on season3, it enabled us to see the shades of grey that Merlin operates within. Season 3 was arguable Merlin’s story of growth evident in the character receiving a flashback episode that made us better understand the reason why he joined the League in the first place. Not out of a lust for power, that he ultimately craves today, but from deep sadness of loss and the realisation that he wasn’t strong enough to save his wife and protect his family from tragedy. Through us experiencing the Leagues brutal ways, it allowed us to better understand Malcolm as a product of his environment. Whether we still understand it is a matter for debate but those moments he shared with Thea this season shows a nurturing side still buried deep within.

With the League of Assassins proving a vital story trope for the show so far, it is only a matter of time before they will rear their ugly head again. Which given the epic encounters that team Arrow have had against them so far. I’m all in.

With Season 4 currently airing we will have to wait and see how the Arrow and his team recovering from such a dark season3. I’m only guessing but I bet it will involve a lot of fighting and hoods. Just a guess, you know … but true.

Power Rangers Finds Its Red Ranger

dacre montgomery

Why does he remind me of a young Chris Evans?

As evident with recent articles it’s no secret that I’m all in when it comes to Lionsgate Power Rangers reboot, reimagining or sequeal … It’s still not entirely clear what the damn movie is all about.

Regardless, I grew up Mighty Morphin’, high kicking and Megazord fighting the hell out of the show. So to hear that Lionsgate have found thier new Red Ranger is news worth shouting from the rooftops.

Problem is Dacre Montgomery is a relative unknown to tinsel town so the background I have to share is limited but aint he pretty though.

News on the Red Ranger comes hot on the heels of the Pink Ranger casting. Where Lionsgate shared via Twitter that The Martian Naomi Scott would be slipping into that tight spandex when filming begins next year.

Well hello Pink Ranger 😉

An Interview With Supernatural And Mad Men Actress Julie McNiven About Her New Project ‘Internity’

How did Julie not make it into our #WomanCrush Wednesday gallery on skatronixxx.com? We need to fix this!!

As you know I have agreed to help out Joey Adams promote his idea for a new show called ‘Internity’, why did I agree to this? Well to be honest he was nice and asked! Plus after doing a little bit of research, it seems awesome. It was pitched to me as ‘If Scrubs met E.R and went to Comic Con’, let’s be honest I was sold on Comic Con, throwing in Scrubs and E.R. just sweetend the deal!
Over the next couple of weeks you’ll be seeing be seeing interviews with the cast of ‘Internity’, as they try to drum up enough support to get the funding they need to produce the pilot show.  Let’s give you a little spoiler into the mind of Internity creator Joey.
OMG it’s Deanna Troi and Worf from Star Trek: TNG
It’s time to meet the next cast member, it’s a lady who’s been in shows such as Supernatural and Mad Men. It’s Julie McNiven!
———————————————————————————————————————————————————–
1) How did you get into acting?
I started doing community theatre in my hometown.  Very quickly, all of my sports activities were replaced with voice lessons, dance classes and theatre rehearsal.  I knew from a very young  age that this is what I wanted to do and my parents have been extremely supportive.
2) You’re currently working on ‘Internity’, how would you describe your character and the show?
I play the role of Sara Cohen who is a first year intern.  She is smart, empathetic and eager to help…..which sometimes just makes the situation worse.  She is young in many ways, and still trying to figure out how she fits in at Portland Memorial and in the real world.  INTERNITY is a dramedy that centers around Camilla, a 50 year old divorcee making a new start, and Dr. Nate, a young chief intern who daydreams in the worlds of all his favorite tv shows.  I was really impressed with script.  The laughs of Scrubs, the drama of ER with the cleverness of all our favorite sci-fi shows.  If you’re a fan of sci-fi, you will most definitely see lots of mini-reunions in these dream sequences.
3) You appeared in Supernatural as Anna Milton and in Mad Men as Hildy, do you have any interesting stories from your time on the shows?
My biggest memories working on Supernatural are how much laughing I did.  Every day, in between very serious takes, was a lot of laughter.  The boys (Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles) have done an extraordinary job of setting the tone on that set.  They get their work done and have a great time doing it. Mad Men was the show that brought me out to Los Angeles.  It holds a special place in my heart and I feel so lucky to have had 3 years on a show that wowed me week after week.

Julie has been involved in two great shows, if you haven’t seen either SHAME ON YOU!!
4) If you could be in one existing film, what film and character would you choose and why?
Well, I had a baby 9 months ago so I don’t see a lot of movies.  But there lots of Tv shows I’d love to be on!  My husband and I just binge-watched  season 5 of The Walking Dead and I’ve wanted to be on that show for years.  We had very serious discussions about the state of mind each character must be in after killing so many…zombies.
5) What the story behind you dressing up as Bugs Bunny, Sylvester, and Crocodile Cal….don’t ask. ?
Haha!  Summer job.  In the summer I worked at Six flags New England theme park doing their stage shows. Then, off-season I would sometimes play Bugs Bunny or Sylvester at Red Sox and Bruins games.  It was glamorous. 🙂 Ha ha.

This looks like a fun place to work!
6) What can we expect to see from you in the remaining months of 2015 and into 2016?
I’m working on a few projects that are in the early stages.  A short film, Injection with my old SGU buddy David Blue, and a feature film called Mayfly starring the talented Lyndon Smith.  I wrapped Babymoon in July and hopefully that will start the festival circuit in ’16.  That was such a fun film for me because my husband and my son are also in it!  It’s an adventure comedy we shot down in Puerto Rico for a few weeks.  Fun days in the jungle, zip lining with a go pro, motorcycle stunts, pumping breastmilk in the van and wearing a big baby bump only months after I had a real baby bump.  I can assure you, it will be a fun-filled movie.
7) Tell our readers one fun fact about yourself that they may not already know?
Hmmmm…I day dream of moving to New Zealand.  I don’t know what we’d do, but I love it there!
8) Finally what advice would you have any advice for an upcoming actress or actor?
The training never ends because there is always more to learn.  Do something every day for your craft, and just as importantly have a full life outside of your craft. Also, you have to LOVE acting to pursue it.  If you don’t, the endless rejection you’ll receive day after day just won’t be worth it.  Most importantly, just like any career you choose, you have to believe in yourself.

1) How did you get into acting?
I started out doing theatre in high school and just continued from there.
2) You’re currently working on ‘Internity’, how would you describe your character and the show to someone who has not watched it before?
I think the best way to describe the show is scrubs meets EVERY TV SHOW REUNION POSSIBLE, but you know…with heart ! 😉 My character doesn’t really take any crap from anybody …except her cat which she loves dearly. But, down deep she has a good heart and cares about people.
3) You appeared in Better Off Ted and Desperate Housewives, do you have any interesting stories from your time on those shows?
I could show you WHICH house on Wisteria lane was actually the PUBLIC RESTROOM for the area…it belonged to one of the lead housewives…
4) I saw online that you have a side business called Pretty Sweet Chocolates, can you tell us a little about this?
It’s just a hobby I do in my spare time. I love making art with chocolate.

Wow that’s chocolate? That’s DAMN impressive!
5) You were in the film Nacho Libre, are you a fan of wrestling? If so who’s your fave?
I’m not particularly a fan of wrestling, but I loved working on NACHO LIBRE. It was a great experience and I loved everyone involved.

6) If you could be in one existing film, what film and character would you choose and why?

I would be in Shawshank Redemption…I understand there would be no part for me as its a male dominated movie, but it’s one of my favorites and I thought the acting was SUPERB. Oh, but when I was younger…I TOTALLY wanted to be Annie!! She got to sing, & shacked up with a billionaire, who WOULDN’T want that? 😉
7) I saw online that you’re also a zumba dancer, what’s it like and are you willing to give us any pointers?
Yes, you should ALWAYS wear Zumba approved dance shoes…your ankles will thank you for it in the long run!
8) What can we expect to see from you in the remaining months of 2015 and into 2016?
I just did an episode of 2 Broke Girls, and I currently recur on the Netflix tv show The Adventures Of Puss n Boots. Also, I’m in Canada right now shooting a kid-friendly movie called PUPSTAR which should be coming out next year.

Skatronixxx Jr loves ‘Puss In Boots’

9) Tell our readers one fun fact about yourself that they may not already know?
I have 2 cats Joey & Max (my kitty Joey is no way related to the actor Joey Adams who wrote Internity…although they do have similar traits) .
10) Finally what advice would you have any advice for an upcoming actress or actor?
Be kind to others, be kind to yourself, let it be your passion, but don’t let it rule your life.

Two X-Men Tv Series Announced by 20th Century Fox

xmen
In todays gender equal society should they be called X-People?
With Fox announcing thier two new X-Men related shows coming to a Tv screen near you you. I thought I’d take time out of my busy-ish schedule and give me opinion on the new shows and what they might entail using my miss spent youth of reading X-Men comics and generally Geeking -out over every morsel of new stuff we get from our Mutant friends. Pro-Mutant and Proud baby.
Fox and The Hellfire Club

Skatronixxx will be happy if Emma Frost is in it *faints*
The first of two shows will air on Fox’s own channel and will centre around the formation of the Hellfire Club. That evil faction of Mutants lead bu the Bacon guy from Footloose in Matthew Vaughn’s X-Men: First Class. The press release revealed some story details about a young special agent who learns that a ‘power-hungry woman with extraordinary abilities is working with a clandestine society of millionaires to take over the world’. With this series set during the 60’s I can’t help but experience deja vu when considered that this was the premise for The Hellfire Club within Vaughn’s 2011 film. Could this be a prequel to that? It sounds logical when the description for the ‘power-hungry woman’ could be a veiled attempt to disguise the character as the one and only Emma Frost.
Ah Emma Frost. A Seminal part of X-Men comic lore has been somewhat maligned and mishandled within Fox’s X-Men cinematic universe. From her semi-quasi and later redacted entrance in Wolverine Origins (2009) played by Tahnya Tozzi. To the prettyu weak characterisation of Frost played by January Jones (that one-out-of-Mad Men) in First Class. My favourite bad-girl-turned-good has recieved a bum deal when it comes to character adaptation on screen. The Emma Frost that I know was rebooted by Grant Morrison’s stellar comic-book run with the New X-Men (2001) whose no-nonsense attitude and cold persona a carry over to Joss Whedon’s run as writer for the Astonoshing X-Men (2005). Who whose portrayal evolved into an infiltrator for the new Hellfire Club yet became a key member of the X-Men who constantly had to compete with good and bd sides of ehr nature. Think Darth vader if he wore white and had a really noce rack. With X-Men producers Lauren Schuler Donner, Simon Kinsberg and Bryan Singer producing the new series; it leads me to believe that the connection to films may obviously be front of mind for these people.  Coupled with the fact that Fox is not only funding the series but airing it also, it basically serves as free advertising for thier cinematic universe. When casting for the main female antagonist is announced, we will get an idea of where this iteration of X-men lore is going. But a cat-and-mouse game with a secret agent and a Mutant on opposing sides, sounds like Homeland with powers, which gets a big thumbs up from me.
Breaking Legion

This one looks different, good different
The second show sounds more experimental than an obvious hit. With a character who is probably more familiar with ardent comic book fans than the general masses. This show that will appear on FX has an intriguing if not worrisome central figure that may see an uphill battle when the show comes to air.
‘The pilot introduces the story of David Haller: Since he was a teenager. David has struggled with mental illness. Diagnosed as schizophrenic, David ha sbeen in and out of psychiatric hospitals for years. But after a strange encounter with a fellow patient, he’s confronted with the possibility that the voices he hears and the visions he sees might be real.’
To uninitiated, David Haller is Charles Xavier’s son whose telepathic abilities may-or-may-not (it’s never explicitly stated in the comics) have lead to his schizophrenia. Either way, David often reverts to his numerous personalities that all despise his father and the Mutant-human utopia that he fights for.
Legion is an interested if not progressive character to centralise within a show that could serve to catapult an often misunderstood condition like mental illness into the consciousness of the masses. The problem is that David is often placed as a villan within the X-Men mythos with no small part being because of his severe mental faculties that often causes him to be unable to disassociate good from bad.
I can’t deny that the character would make fascinating television if handled properly, I just don’t see who the audience for the show is besides those Legion fans. Is there enough of them out there to make this a hit? I suppose in order to hook those would-be converts is how the show works format wise. A Breakign Bad style of show could work for such a complicated character, with deep character explorations in over-arching stourylines would work but I still believe that those types of audiences is still such a niche market to gamble an X-Men show on.
Either way I am quietly confident that with the combined efforts of FX and Bryan Singer that they can produce a character driven narrative in the same vein as Breaking Bad but with the visual style of Hannibal, but that’s just my wishlist.
It is reported that The Hellfire series is in development while Legion has been ordered to pilot, which confirms that 20th Century Fox and Marvel have been in negotiations for some time, with Fox’s Dana Walden mentioning that they were talking with mavel back in August. While Fox owns the rights to any movie produced X-Men product Marvel still owns the Tv rights for the characters, which means Marvel has already signed off on the proposed plans for Fox’s X-Men Tv series.
With an endorsement from Marvel, Im quietly eager to see these shows when they air.
