Supernatural Brings Back a Fan Favorite

aaron_bass

Remember Aaron Bass?  If you said no… Shame on you!  He’s one of my favorite SPN secondary characters… and I just love Adam Rose.   He appeared in 8.13 Everybody Hates Hitler.  Need a refresher?  Okay… sure… I’ll help ya out…

Nobody gets Dean that flustered…Ever.  I was ecstatic to hear the news today (thanks Mireille!) that Adam Rose was coming back to The Show to play our favorite Hitler hating, golum owning, bacon loving Jew.

bacon

I mean, there’s been whispers and hints, but I wasn’t sure how they were going to do it… you know, bring Adam back.  But apparently, the writers are even more creative than we thought.  Aaron is coming back to help Sam and Dean fight Hitler again in episode 5 of the new season that starts October 13th on The CW.  I just hope he brings his golum too.

Rose has made appearances on other television shows like Bones, Castle, NCIS: New Orleans, and IZombie, and was a regular on Veronica Mars.  I’ve even seen him recently in some really cute yogurt commercials.  Adam is also a very talented vlogger!  You should check out his YouTube channel here.

With every little sneak peek they give us, I get more and more excited for Season 12…and Hellatus seems longer and longer.  Quick someone remind me how many more days til October 13th.

Katie Cassidy To Appear Regularly On Arrow Season 5?

kc-arrow

Katie Cassidy (Arrow, Supernatural) said at Salt Lake City Comic-Con that she would be appearing in Arrow‘s season 5 premiere “Legacy”. She has also made it very clear to those present that she is more than likely to appear in the other CW DC Comics shows (The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow and Supergirl). She has recently signed a contract that allows her to do so. She is one of the few, besides John Barrowman (Arrow, Dr. Who, Torchwood) and Wentworth Miller (Legends of Tomorrow, Prison Break), to have received such a contract.

Since Laurel Lance and therefore the Black Canary were killed during the battle with Damian Darkh (Neil MC Donough) and H.I.V.E. in season 4 it is unlikely we would see her in the present day and more likely to see her in flashbacks or memories from others. Although dead doesn’t necessarily mean dead in the DC Universe, but that aside.

As the big bad of season 4 is now defeated all can deal with the sudden death of Laurel Lance and what impact that has had on their lives. So if everything is wrapped up with the aftermath of Laurel’s death we might close that the Laurel Lance chapter on Arrow.

I am curious to find out though what Laurel said to Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell) with her dying breath. We are bound to find that out in the upcoming season. Although somethings might linger on a bit longer than just season 5. Who knows? To be continued….

Aquaman To Film In Australia

rsz_jason-momoa-aquaman-fan-art-color.jpg

So according to the Daily Telegraph the new Aquaman movie is set to be heading to Australia for pre-production and this will begin before Christmas.

It has not yet officially been announced but it would make sense as Village Roadshow Studios boasts the largest built film purpose water tank in the country. Plus Warner Brothers has a long standing relationship with the company.

The only snag to filming in this location would be due to the issues that Amber Heard caused by breaking Australia’s strict biosecurity by not declaring her two Yorkshire Terriers when her and then husband Johnny Depp into the country with false documents. Heard was placed on a one month good behavior bond and fined $1000 for producing the fake document.

“When contacted yesterday, the Australian Department of Immigration and Border Protection would not comment on whether or not Heard’s history would impact her visa application,” reports The Daily Telegraph.

The film is set to star Jason Momoa (Game of Thrones) as Aquaman, Amber Heard (Machete Kills) as Mera, and Willem Dafoe (Spider-Man) as Atlantean politician Vulko.

Aquaman is set to hit cinemas on July 27th 2018.

Power To The Daleks! – Animated Power Of The Daleks Rumours Look To Be True

The BBC posted an animated gif on Facebook this afternoon that appears to be hinting at the rumoured Power of the Daleks animation:

26ufnoeypdmmf1qka

The picture shows an animated TARDIS surrounded by fog – or perhaps the fumes from the mercury pools that can be found on the planet Vulcan (the setting of Power of the Daleks). The post was accompanied with the promise that ‘something is materialising’ at midnight UK time. This wouldn’t be the first time that missing episodes of Doctor Who have been turned into cartoons – the very first animated release was 2006’s The Invasion featuring the Cybermen – but an entirely missing Doctor Who serial hasn’t been animated before. The animation process is costly, therefore it is usually used on serials where only two episodes are missing as opposed to Power of the Daleks’ six.

More news to follow shortly.

Fear The Walking Dead SN2 EP10- ‘Do Not Disturb’

An oddly structured episode gave us some of the series best moments yet.

travis-episode 10

For anyone who gave up on ‘Fear The Walking Dead’ early on, and let’s face it there were many who quite fairly did, now would certainly be the time to jump back into it. A six episode first season isn’t a brilliant amount of time to establish a good show and characters. It had the existing ‘Walking Dead’ brand to draw from, and an exciting premise, but not much else beyond that. Each passing episode since the beginning however has become progressively better. I feel like I say this every week, and I probably have, but I feel it’s important to say. So often nowadays people are too quick to dismiss things straight away, especially if they don’t meet their ridiculously high expectations. ‘Fear The Walking Dead’ was always going to be compared to the main series, which wasn’t necessarily fair, but I feel the show has finally reached a point where it’s good enough to stand up to these comparisons, and that is an exciting prospect indeed.

This episode was a shining example of just how tense the show can be. We split the time between two different groups this week. Chris and Travis alongside some newfound ‘friends’, and Alicia alongside a brutal hotel manager. Honing in on said manager for a beat, she was introduced with a significantly dark past. Given the whole premise of ‘Fear The Walking Dead’ was to show the beginning of the outbreak, it felt both wonderful and hurtful when we were presented with a flashback to this moment for the hotel. We’d seen the remnants of a wedding party in last week’s episode and all signs pointed towards things not ending well. I was pleasantly surprised then to see the breakdown of that whole soiree this episode. They didn’t veer away from the sheer horror of it all either. The father of the bride dies, bites the face off his own daughter who’s attempting to give him CPR, before the aforementioned manager and her nephew lock all the guests in the room with Walker Dad. This is the kind of thing the show should have been doing from the start, and I’m worried that that scene was just about as much as we’ll ever get.

If this manager character sticks around for any length of time though, it’ll be interesting to see how she copes psychologically with what she’s done. We already saw her have a partial breakdown when confessing to Alicia, and these are the kinds of conflicts that breed good stories. Will this survival instinct of hers get stronger? Will she buckle under the guilt of what she’s done? Will Alicia keep trusting her now that she knows this isn’t a very trustworthy person? All intriguing possibilities, so I’m just hoping they don’t kill her off straight away.

Speaking of Alicia, this episode continued to build on her badass within. We’ve seen the actress (Alycia Debnam Carey) perform brilliantly as a powerful leader over on The 100, and it’s the kind of character I want to see her become on this show. She’s probably the character with the least amount of baggage and is essentially a blank canvas to work on, so the writers have a real and increasingly likely chance to make her the star of the show. There are very few characters that people root for on this show, but to have at least one that’s truly awesome would be a treat indeed.

The odd thing about the structure of this episode was that Alicia’s part was solely focused on what she was doing. Last week’s episode ended on a cliff-hanger, with Ofelia missing and Maddison and Strand surrounded by Walkers. It was odd then for the show to skip over these things to show us Maddison and Strand alive and hiding at the end of the episode. It looks as though we’ll get to witness their great escape next episode, but tricks like this somewhat cheapen the effect of the show’s major drawing point, death. These stunts have been pulled on ‘The Walking Dead’, wherein a main character is thought to be dead, and we get to run into a walker that just so happens to look extremely similar to them, clothing and all. I’m certainly not a fan of these moments, but when they did this with Maddison last night I actually thought for a moment they could have actually killed her. This speaks to how tense the episode was, making me fear for just about everyone’s safety.

Elsewhere the episode finally saw us catch up with Travis and Chris. Their interactions were more of the same. Chris showing some eerily adept killing skills, and Travis trying to squash these down in fear of losing his son. It was enjoyable to see the father-son dynamic play out through the early parts of the episode as both were having fun in each other’s company, Travis even teaching Chris how to drive. It was with the introduction of a trio of new character’s that things started to go further downhill for the pair. The show did a brilliant job of making us want to trust these guys, but not quite doing so. They didn’t seem bad per se, just their intentions were never clear.

Chris certainly warmed to them though, as he took a big step to becoming either the best survivor on the show, or its newest villain. Maybe both? After finding an isolated farm and attempting to corral its Chickens, the group soon found they were in the company of a gun wielding farmer. I was shocked by how this scene played out. I didn’t expect the farmer to make it out of there alive, but I certainly didn’t expect Chris to be the one to pull the trigger. Not yet anyway. Seems he’s further up Mt Crazy than we thought.

This was a truly action packed episode, so other highlights include:

  • I’ve been wanting to do a ‘Zombie Kill Of The Week’ but there hasn’t been much opportunity to do so. I’m confident now however that every episode will feature at least one Walker kill, so here goes:

Zombie Kill of the Week: ‘Are you my Mummy?’- Alicia, Maddison lookalike walker.

  • That elevator sequence was brilliantly shot. It perfectly captured the sense of chaos that would be present in such a situation, and it gets double points for being a kind of action sequence we’ve not really seen before on either show.
  • It was initially jarring when it was night time when we first cut to Alicia, given we last saw her during the day, but it also makes a lot of sense. TV often speeds situations up to move the story along, but it makes sense that Alicia’s problems wouldn’t be resolved in a matter of minutes. It also further improved her stock as a great survivalist, as she demonstrated brilliant planning in escaping the Walkers.
  • There are still so many questions looming after this episode. Where is Ofelia? Given we now know there are other guests in the hotel, perhaps she’s been held hostage by one. Also, what was that look on Maddison’s face after Alicia made it to her? It didn’t seem like the relieved face of a parent to me. Perhaps something has happened to her…

Overall another great episode then for ‘Fear The Walking Dead’. The structure was a bit off, with the decision not to show what happened to Maddison and Strand to instead employ cheap tricks an extremely questionable one. Nevertheless, this episode was high on action and gave us some truly character defining moments. We’re now faced with a murderous Chris. A Travis unsure what to do about said murderous Chris. And an evolving Alicia who just might be in line to become the next Rick Grimes. In any case I’m sure at least some of this will be addressed in next week’s episode, whilst giving us plenty more to think about as well.

SPOILER ALERT! Peter Capaldi To Appear In Class?

p027188h

The Mirror are reporting today that Peter Capaldi is set to appear as The Doctor in the first episode of the new Doctor Who spinoff Class. A BBC insider told the newspaper “What sort of trouble must these kids get themselves in if they need the Doctor to come and bail them out?”

Of course, this wouldn’t be the first time the current incarnation of the Doctor (at the time of broadcast) has appeared in a Doctor Who spinoff. Both David Tennant and Matt Smith made guest appearances in The Sarah Jane Adventures, in The Wedding of Sarah Jane Smith and Death of the Doctor respectively. Torchwood (a spinoff aimed at an adult audience), on the other hand, wasn’t allowed to feature the character amid concerns that it would encourage young kids to watch. The Mirror are claiming that BBC Chiefs had similar concerns about the Doctor appearing in Class (which is aimed at Young Adults) but decided in favour of it in the end.

The TARDIS was spotted at outdoor filming for the show back in April, so it looks considerably likely that The Mirror’s reports are true:

In other news, three new books based on Class were announced for release in October:

class-4

class-3

class-stone

Joyride, What She Does Next Will Astound You and The Stone House are to be written by Guy Adams, James Goss and A.K. Benedict respectively and offer us our first glimpse at the Class logo:

crb5ymhwgam-qbl

Personally, I think the logo for Class is extremely effective in giving off that distinctive  ‘Who’ vibe. It is very close to the style of the Moffat Era‘s Doctor Who logos in the same way that the Torchwood logo strongly evoked the Russell T Davies Era.

Class will be in session on BBC Three Online this October, with episodes due to air a week behind on BBC1. The new spinoff is based in Coal Hill School (where the Doctor is currently caretaker), a location which first appeared in the very first Doctor Who serial An Unearthly Child as the school where the Doctor’s granddaughter Susan Foreman was a pupil. Whether former science teacher and current chairman of the school governors Ian Chesterton (played by William Russell) will appear remains to be seen.

KillJoys SN2 EP10 – ‘Season Finale’

Yes! I binge watched! Had to, so that I could get caught up to date for last Fridays’ Season Finale, “How to Kill Friends and Influence People”. The story picks up with Dutch’s memory of Khlyen (Rob Stewart) telling Yala a story that she must remember because this is how it all began.

On Lucy they bring Johnny (Aaron Ashmore) around to the realization that Pawter (Sarah Power) is dead. [Read more…]

Killjoys SN2 EP9 – ‘Johnny Be Good’

Torturer

In Johnny Be Good, the opening scene is a pile of dead bodies, Dutch (Hannah John-Kamen) is handcuffed and is being tortured in the Royale, and the wall is down. The formerly complacent inhabitants want a lynching. The chief torturer has put microleeches in her water, things that will make her bleed if she lies. She does, and she bleeds. He wants to know where Jelco is and why she helped him escape. Pree doesn’t believe a word of it, and tries to free her with the standard shotgun behind the bar (“You, Me, Blaze of Glory”), but she knows they can’t make it. What in the SEVEN HELLS happened here? Killjoys SN2 EP8 – ‘Full Metal Monk’

Killjoys - Season 2

When last we saw Killjoy Johnny (Aaron Ashmore), he was confined to a glow-y cage at Springhill, having met with Jelco (Pascal Langdale) and his merry band of thugs. And the burning question was, “Who will get him out?”. Well, in Full Metal Monk, that question was answered when Dutch (Hannah John-Kamen) went to visit him. And tear a strip for lying to his team, and nearly getting their license revoked. Johnny offers his last intact rib, but Dutch is not amused. He defended himself: Pawter has her thing, which is Old Town, and Westerly and Walls, and you, you have yours which is Sixes and Khylen and Sabine. I am in love with Pawter”. Dutch allows as how since she killed Sabine, and Khylen left her another red box, they are both in a hard place right now, she just didn’t think he would be part of hers. Dutch calls Pawter, and leaves. [Read more…]

Stephen Amell Reveals How He Would Feel If Arrow Was Recast For DCEU

rsz_amell-not-upset-over-dceu-green-arrow

So Stephen Amell has now reveled how he would feel if the Green Arrow was portrayed by another actor whilst doing a panel during Salt Lake City Comic Con and someone even managed to catch it all and upload it to Youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3O4hzI3kdtM

Here’s what Stephen Amell had to say

“I do not have a right to Oliver Queen. Someone played it played it before me. Someone voiced it before me. Somebody will play it after me. I don’t believe that there are plans for Oliver Queen in the DC Extended Universe, based off things that people have told me, but I would not be upset if that changed at all.”

So he has given a good answer here that he is not fussed if they use another actor for the role he plays in the TV series. This may be confusing to some people as about a year ago he mentioned that Grant Gustin should have been used as the movie version of The Flash as well as the TV series but he has now gone back to clarify what he meant by this.

It appears that he was more frustrated at the timing of the announcement of Ezra Miller playing the big screen version of The Flash as it took away from the action that was happening on the small screen.

DC seem to be fond of keeping both the small screen and big screen version of there characters separate with Grant Gustin playing The Flash on the small screen and Ezra Miller for the movies also we have Tyler Hoechlin playing Superman in the Super Girl TV series and Henry Cavill playing the Man Of Steel on the big screen. We have yet to be told if Green Arrow will be included as a big screen adaption and have not yet been advised of an alternative actor who is lined up to take up the role but some DC fans are calling for Matt Damon to take on the role.

So there you have it and as always stick with @Deadpool_1984 only at skatronixxx.com
