Jason-Momoa-Aquaman-640x338

The King of the Seven seas will be squaring off against his arch nemesis in the Aquaman film. The Wrap reports that when Jason Mamoa suits up as Aquaman in 2018, he will face one of his oldest foes, The Black Manta. It remains to be seen whether the report is 100% true as Warner Bros. have not commented on the news. Jason Mamoa first appeared as The King Of Atlantis in Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice where he had a cameo.

Mamoa will appear next year in the fifth installment of the DC Extended Universe, Justice League. The Aquaman movie is being written by Will Beal based off a story by James Wan, who will direct the epic,  and Geoff Johns. It is currently scheduled to land in theaters on July 27 2018.

First Luke Cage Trailer From Netflix

rsz_luke-cage

Get excited Marvel fans! Luke Cage is coming.  Netflix release the first trailer for the next Marvel hit series. Check it out:

In the comic book series, Luke Cage is a product of the attempted recreation of the Super-Soldier research that was destroyed when Captain America was born.  Cage emerged with super strength and durability…he’s basically indestructible.  MCU fans got a good dose of Luke Cage in the Netflix series Jessica Jones.  Luke Cage was introduced after the death of his wife and reluctant to let anyone too close to find out about his abilities.  The series will follow what happens to Cage after the events that occurred in Jessica Jones, but also will take a look at Cage’s origin story and how he acquired his abilities.

Following the formula of the Avengers, the MCU has already introduced Daredevil and Jessica Jones.  This will be is the third Marvel/Netflix series that will lead up to another super group of heroes, The Defenders.  After Luke Cage, Netflix will introduce Iron Fist before bringing the group together.

Mike Colter will continue to portray Luke Cage and it looks like we will Rosario Dawson appear in this series as well as Claire Temple.  Dawson also appeared in Daredevil and Jessica Jones.  Other cast to watch are Frankie Faison as Pop,  Theo Rossi  as Shades Alvarez , Alfre Woodard as Mariah Dillard, Simone Missick as Missy Knight, and Mahershala Ali as Cornell Stokes.  It also looks like Krysten Ritter will make an appearance as Jessica Jones in this series as well.  Although it has not been confirmed, there is speculation that Iron Fist portrayed by Finn Jones could possibly make a cameo in the series…MAYBE…

Luke Cage premieres on September 30 on Netflix.

Daredevil SN1 EP12 – ‘The Ones We Leave Behind’

DD Those W Leave

Warning: This review does contain spoilers. The episode may be a year old, but I have an honor system.

The plot of this episode is a little all over all over the place. However, it works. The breakneck storytelling captures the frantic mood of the characters’ trying to put the pieces of everything together. Karen just killed a man, put a gun against his head, pulled my trigger, now he’s dead (No, I couldn’t resist). Karen dealing with this decision is engaging as she has to deal with the paranoia that Fisk’s men can come after her, but the startling realization that she has taken a life.

Matt is in action as the devil, trying to hunt down the Japanese gangsters. The scenes as the Devil are as exciting as ever. However, there are some great scenes as Matt. There’s a tense moment where Matt confronts Foggy, both of whom acknowledging what they and we know without saying a word. This episode also features a thrilling foot chase – with Matt chasing a blind Japanese girl through the streets. The scene is cool on its own, but seeing Matt in action out of costume feels unique.

Fisk is on the hunt for the people who poisoned Vanessa and wants to stop everyone in his way – including Urich. Fisk has some frightening moments in this episode – first he violently assaults one of his lackeys for talking out of line – and still keeping this person loyal. (We also learn the real reason Vanessa was poisoned, which is clever.) The episode ends with Fisk murdering Ben. It’s a great scene in how gruesome it is. We see how Fisk can go from zero to sixty – he’s quite calm leading up to the killing – and just murder someone in cold blood. Not a henchman, he does it himself – all because Ben was investigating his mother.

This is the penultimate episode of the first season. If this doesn’t get your blood pumping for the finale, please tell me what does.

With the end of American Idol, Fox is adding a new interactive musical game show based on Shazam app from Mark Burnett, Fox Television Group chairman and CEO Dana Walden announced Monday at the TCA (Television Critics Association) summer press tour.

Beat Shazam centers around individuals competing to identify a particular song, similar to the way the Shazam app helps users find out the title and artist behind a track. Contestants that are successful will then have to go up against the app for the top prize. Burnett and Jeff Apploff (Don’t Forget the Lyrics) will be executive producers, and Shazam Entertainment Limited will be a partner on the series, so far no premiere date has been announced.

Shazam was founded in 1999 and since then there have been more than 25 billion Shazam queries, and the app currently has hundreds of millions of monthly active users from all over the globe.

GISHWHES Isn’t Just For Supernatural Fans!

misha

First off, I’m sure if you’re not a Supernatural fan, you’re asking, “What is Gishwhes?”.  It’s an acronym for the Greatest International Scavenger Hunt the World Has Ever Seen….but it’s soooo much more.  It’s fun, creative, interesting, embarrassing, and kindness all rolled into one big friendship building event.

Gishwhes was started by Misha Collins, who plays Castiel on Supernatural, five years ago for fans of The Show to raise money for Random Acts (a charity started by Collins).  But, it’s grown to be a huge event in a very short time.  The Hunt just ended a few days ago and already I can feel the post-Gishwhes euphoria that is settling over the famdom.  Gishers are sharing their pictures, videos etc. of their experiences, and it’s awe inspiring.

I was unable to participate this year, and I was totally bummed about it because last year it was a life changing experience for me.  I did so much more (with the help of my team) than I ever thought I’d be able to do … but this anxiety filled, introverted geek made new friends and ventured out into public to do good deeds.  I even made and wore a dress made entirely out of construction paper and posed next to a hot rod for a picture… because Misha asked me to (for an item).  My team didn’t win.  Hell, we didn’t even make the honorable mentions list, but we had so much fun.

This year, the team with the most points will accompany Misha on an all expense paid trip to Iceland.  Notice that I didn’t say “the winning team”?  That’s because all the teams are winners.  And, I don’t mean that in an everyone-gets-a-participation-medal type way.  Every participant in Gishwhes wins fun and happiness … and gets good human bonus points.

So, if you’ve ever wanted to wear clothing made entirely of food or perform a puppet show at a Children’s Hospital… and have a ton of fun while doing it, what are you doing next year, say about the first week of August?  Wanna be on a Gishwhes team with me?  Because come hell or high water, I’m gishing next year.

Just try and stop me.

Lucille Ball Gets A New Statue Not So Scary!

We all know (or at least I hope most of you) the timeless works of the one and only Lucille Ball. She is the classic beauty from the ever so famous TV show ‘I Love Lucy’,  ‘The Lucille Ball Show‘, and ‘The Long, Long Trailer‘. Well, this actress was commemorated in the park of her home town by  an artist by the name Dave Poulin in 2009. But he unfortunately jacked up the look that is our ageless beauty so badly that he actually received some death threats. Well what do you expect, this is Lucille Ball, you screw up an icon like her, you bound to get shanked, man. This statue was then taken down thanks to a site called, ‘I Love Lucy, remove the statue’. Thankfully they redid that bad boy and now have one that is not so disturbing (yes the expression “don’t blink” definitely comes to mind here…)

lucille-ball-before-after.jpg

Well now here we are again, with a new statue of our Lucy, and this time, the artist (not the same guy as before) nailed it. The statue was unveiled on August 6th 2016, while fans chanted “Lucy, Lucy.” And there, in the Lucille Ball Memorial Park, Lucy’s hometown of Cueloron, NY, she stands in a polka dot dress, portraying the elegance and smiles that she would give us all in her time on and off the screens. And who do we thank for the remake of our red-headed legend? None other than artist Carolyn D. Palmer. She was quoted to say “I not only wanted to portray the playful, animated and spontaneous Lucy, but also the glamorous Hollywood icon.” And I’m sure you all will agree with me when I say, she did so in deed.

August 6th would have been the TV icon’s 105th birthday, and each year on this day, she is remembered by a comedy festival in nearby Jamestown. And as for the Scary Lucy statue, they plan on keeping this bad boy, and placing it else where in the park, (which I will never visit in fear of being placed back in time somewhere, or getting my neck snapped) as this too was a part of Lucy history and should still be displayed ^_^

Deleted Scenes For Suicide Squad Leaked!!

suicide-squad-movie-characters-calendar

We all heard about how there were some issues for Jared Leto concerning all the deleted scenes from the movie. And after looking at these deletions, I side with the rock star. Now don’t get me wrong. I loooooooooooooooooooooooooved this move, having just seen it on Sunday the 7th, but the scenes may have given some more depth to other of the characters and story of this fantastic movie.

Now we all know that its pretty normal for the Hollywood biz to show trailers with extra scenes that may not be in the movie. But it seems that the trailer that was shown at San Diego Comic Con may have shown the movie to be much more dark than it is now, cutting out scenes to make the movie more fun. If you visit the reddit site, there is a person on there by the name of Naydawwg who posted the extended alternate cut of Suicide Squad that you may never see. And it seems to be a lot more than expected.

OK you guys, here is the list of what was deleted. (**SPOILER ALERT!**) Go watch the movie if you haven’t already and compare to the list below, and tell us what you think. I personally feel that more on the Croc would have been nice for sure, but regardless, after seeing the movie, I think I may go back and see it again one or two more times ^_^

you guys, here is the list of what was deleted. Go watch the movie f you haven’t already and compare to the list above, tell us what you think. I personally feel that more on the crock would have been nice for sure, but regardless, after seeing the movie, I think I may go back and see it again maybe one or two more times ^_^

There were of course some from the San Diego ComicCon release as explained before :

  • In early cuts, the movie’s opening detailed June Moon’s possession by Enchantress in real time. Reshoots reshuffled the scene to be later in the movie in flashback form in favour of a new opening centered on Deadshot.
  • Deadshot in the prison cell, watching the rain fall and thinking about his daughter.
  • El Diablo observing the flame of a lit match, before putting it out due to his vow to no longer use his powers.
  • El Diablo being escorted to a training center by being placed in a tube that fills with water to quel his flames, and then unceremoniously dropped onto the ground.
  • Early interviews showed Captain Boomerang’s racism and sexism, but the movie is light on examples of such behaviour, which have apparently been deleted. Most of them were reportedly directed at Katana, to whom Boomerang is attracted to.
  • Early reports indicated more backstory for Killer Croc, revealing that he entire life as a social outcast due to his physical appearance and has convinced himself that he is beautiful in his own way. Croc crossed paths with Batman while working as muscle-for-hire for numerous Gotham’s crime bosses, while secretly planning to take over one day. There were also scenes displaying his affinity for making sculptures out of discarded materials. Aside from jokes about Croc viewing himself as ‘beautiful,’ one of these were retained in the final cut.”
  • Also deleted was a scene where he becomes sick at the helicopter escort to Midway City, throws up half-digested pieces of goat, and then eats them again, disgusting the nearby Navy Seals.
  • Early cuts reportedly included a passing reference to Slipknot a being serial rapist, likely to further paint him as unsympathetic to the audience ahead of his own death.
  • More scenes of Rick Flag and June Moon’s romantic relationship, including him reading the files of the Suicide Squad recruits after Waller delivers them to him.
  • Another scene where Flag and Moon are out on a date.
  • Extended scene of Joker interrogating Captain Griggs, including the line, “I can’t wait to show you my toys,” which was in every trailer, but was removed from the movie.
  • Joker and his men escaping after shooting up a restaurant. Harley, who is already affiliated with the Joker, follows them on a motorcycle and intercepts their car. Joker bangs his head against the glass in frustration.
  • Joker and Harley then get into a fight, which ends with Harley pointing a gun at Joker’s head. Joker sweet-talks Harley into lowering the gun, charming her, then backhands her across the face. Afterwards he sweet-talks her again and they kiss.
  • Extended Ace Chemicals scene where Harley jumps into the chemicals. More bits of dialogue from Joker.
  • Extended Batmobile chase scene with more interaction between Joker and Harley. One of the examples, presented in all the trailers, is the Joker punching the roof of his car.
  • Harley using her baseball bat as a mock gun to play shoot at invisible foes.
  • Extended scene of Joker breaking into the nanobomb manufacture facility to arrange for Harley’s neck-bomb to be disabled.”
  • More interactions between Harley and Boomerang. Early cuts apparently included her really disliking him despite growing affectionate to all the other members of the squad.”
  • Extended bar scene with Harley taking everyone’s orders. Deadshot calls for a shot, Katana wants whiskey, Croc and Boomerang settle for beer, Harley asks Diablo wants and he prefers water which she jokes, “is a good idea.” The scene was featured in the trailers, but in the movie it cuts directly to Deadshot’s speech about them all almost pulling the mission off.”
  • Removed several scenes with the Joker to repaint his relationship with Harley as more loving rather than abusive.”
  • Joker and Harley get into an argument after he rescues her in the hijacked helicopter. In early cuts he reportedly pushes her out to kill her, then the helicopter gets shot down. This was apparently reworked into the helicopter getting shot down first and Joker pushing her out to save her.”
  • Joker returns during the final battle in the subway station, face half-burnt from the helicopter crash, which apparently leads to a brief altercation with the Squad. He calls for Harley to escape with him but she refuses for once in order to help her friends, and the Joker escapes after throwing a live grenade at the group to cover his own escape.”
