Maze Runner Setbacks And Update On The Injury of Dylan O’Brien

maxresdefault

Dylan O’Brien, best known for his role of Styles on the TV series Teen Wolf and the leading man in the Maze Runner movies, was recently injured this past March 2016 on the set of the third Maze Runner: The Death Cure (is it just me or is this title a little daunting right now??) He was rushed to the hospital after a vehicular stunt went bad, causing concussion, facial fracture and lacerations. The injuries were confirmed to be non-life threatening, but worse than they had expected. The movie will halt indefinitely until the 24 year old is up and ready to continue filming.

Thankfully though, just about a day ago, Huffpost released a Twitter picture of Dylan doing better. Apparently a lucky, lucky, fan had spotted the young actor at a Jamba Juice. I guess she told E! News that he chatted with her and was in “good spirits” while grabbing his drink.  There is a picture of the lucky girl with him, he is sporting a beard ladies…. A beard…

CovM-lMVYAAriQr.jpg

Now my friends, don’t worry about his role on Teen Wolf. It was confirmed by the show runner Jeff Davis that he will be back for the final season. And as far as scars go, I mean, it’s Teen Wolf, I’m sure they can create a very believable story about how they came to be (after all, the show does have werewolves….) And as for the Maze Runner movie, it sounds like it will go back into production eventually, but has been pushed back until January 2018. But for now, let’s just be glad Dylan is well because this could have been a lot worse. ^_^

Lego Suicide Squad Trailer

suicide-squad-lego

Let me just start by saying, I love the LEGO movies, so this was pretty cute to watch. And who do we thank for this wonderful little film? The amazing minds of Forrest Whaley and Sean Willets of ForrestFire films.

The quick 40 second trailer has beautifully captured the essence that is Suicide Squad. From the opening where you see the logo in LEGO all brightly lit and colorful, to Harley Quinn saying “we’re bad guys, its what we do” as she holds the purse she just grabbed from the store window…. These guys really mastered the art here. Which I guess is what they do. They have done other LEGO shorts on their YouTube channel that are just as entertaining to watch ( I just got done watching Captain America vs Nazi zombies, and it’s freaking sweet! But it’s rather gory, so if you’re squeamish, maybe this isn’t for you… Just FYI.)

download

LEGO will be releasing Suicide Squad characters, but without the Suicide Squad logo on it, (this is for little ones, so the name ‘suicide’ I guess isn’t appropriate) but rather be called Batman villains. You can buy one of these sets on lego.com. The one out right now is called ‘Batman Killer Croc Sewer Smash.’ This one has Killer Croc, Captain Boomerang and Katana in it (the words of Jack Nicholson as Joker just came to mind, “where does he get such wonderful toys?”)

As for the trailer, I have linked it down below, and as I said above, you can find this and other fun LEGO vids on their YouTube channel under forrestfire101. Hope you all enjoy this as much as I did ^_^

Daisy Ridley
It has been confirmed by Lionsgate CEO Jon Feltheimer that Ridley will be playing the leading female role of the film. The first of the Chaos Walking series (Book titled: The Knife of Never Letting Go) will be directed by Doug Liman with the script being handled by Jamie Linden and Allison Shearmur.

The story focuses on a boy named Todd who lives in a town where a disease has caused all women to die, and has left behind The Noise in its wake – a constant, unstoppable sound out of people’s thoughts. Todd then meets a young girl, Viola (Ridley) who is not only a woman, but also cannot have her thoughts heard. With her discovery comes questions of what really happened when the disease that brought The Noise came – and then they have to run.

Chaos Walking Novels

Whilst Lionsgates last science fiction, young adult adaptations didn’t perform as well as they hoped, the Chaos Walking series has a lot going for it, with the novels having sold millions of copies worldwide, with massive critical acclaim and a Carnegie Medal attached to the third book in the series, Monsters of Men. Liman is also a very promising director, as he stunned fans and critics in 2014 with Edge of Tomorrow, and was also the director for of the first Bourne movie, The Bourne Identity – 2002.

Whilst there is no estimated release date for the first Chaos Walking movie, production is due to start sometime next year.

Wayward Pines SN 2 Finale – ‘Bedtime Story’

waywardpines

In the aftermath of Jason’s shooting they rush him to the hospital. Carrie coated in blood looks on broken by the events. The Abbies are on their way and they will do whatever they can to complete their objective.

The people begin to abandon the town to return to the freezing as Jason is operated on. Jason dies do the nature of his wound and the risk of the surgery itself. He goes outside to tell the people to evacuate as Jason is dead. Theo gives an impassioned speech about fulfilling Jason’s wishes and urges the people to go the mountain.

Theo talks to CJ about Jason and about the decision to save people. CJ tells them they can wake up some of the sleeping people but then he’d be killing them. Theo tells Carrie that she can go to the mountain. Theo tells her that she is Jason’s mother because they share a rare blood type of course she throws up at the news. Quite Oedipal….

Margaret yells out to her people as Theo walks into his new office to get his gun. Walking out of the room he smashes Pilcher’s picture. The families are being let into the mountain, screened and tested as they go in.

Lucy and Frank are separated and a guard bashes Frank knocking him out. Rebecca and Xander are also separated. Rebecca doesn’t want to leave Xander behind  but he knows she has to go. Xander roams around town as riots break out. He is stunned by the turn of events.

Theo speaks into a recorder telling about how wrong Pilcher was. Making sure if people wake up they will know the truth. He is going to inject himself with Bubonic Plague, Typhoid, and Mar-burg before sacrificing himself to the Abbies to wipe them out.

The people are troubled and want to get in. They kill the guard and bang on the gate. CJ scares them off with gun fire. Lucy and Rebecca are reunited but realize that Xander and Frank will not be joining them. Frank and Xander are talking and Xander shares a little booze with the young lad. They jump in the van as they see a man with a Molotov cocktail. He wants their vehicle but Xander shoots the cocktail causing him to be lit on fire.

Theo arrives at the mountain and gives his secretary a pod. She kisses him as she has clearly loved him since she met him. Theo gets them checked in and they run to see Rebecca and Lucy. Theo is shocked that Rebecca and Xander have chosen each other. Rebecca seems to regret it.

CJ talks to Carrie about how she deserves a fresh start but she doesn’t seem to believe she deserves another one. Standing in the castle is Theo and Rebecca walks in to hug him. Rebecca knows Theo is the only one who can save the town.

Theo goes to inject himself and finds that Carrie has already gone and done the deed. Carrie is going to sacrifice herself because Theo is needed. Theo gives her morphine so when she is killed she won’t have to feel it.

Theo gives another speech about humanity as Carrie walks out to sacrifice herself. Theo hopes to see everyone soon, but only time will tell if he does. The power goes off in town as the power is kept on only for the pods and the fence. A man left behind hangs himself as the pod doors close.

CJ stands alone with his imagination of Eileen. He nearly terminates the process but instead goes into sleep.  Carrie walks outside to commit her final act as the gate closes behind her. The sound of a baby echos through the woods, but this looks like a human baby.

Now we wait, will this show continue for a third season  or will this actually be the final episode? This really is a good end to the series as it is both positive and negative. There are so many possibilities for a continuation. What if Carrie doesn’t wipe out all the Abbies? What will happen to the people when they wake up? All I know is I thoroughly enjoyed this season and hope we find out soon if a third season is coming.

Wayward Pines SN2 EP9 – ‘Walcott Prep’

waywardpines1

This episode begins differently then any other. While it is a flash back involving Pilcher it is also a flashback to the world before. Walcott Prep is a school for girls where Pilcher is looking for people.

Margaret has returned to her people but is close to death. Theo goes to talk to Xander about deposing Jason. Xander believes that is a good idea. CJ appears to take Theo to Jason. Jason wants everyone to go back to sleep until the Abbies leave the area.

Pilcher talks to a young woman about the book Animal Farm. He wants to take her to the future but maybe she isn’t ready yet. As he leaves she tells him her son’s name is Jason.

The Abbies cauterize Margaret’s wound as Jason speaks out to the town. He tells them all about the mass of Abbies outside the fence. That invasion is coming, evacuation must start bringing the people back to the mountain to sleep.

CJ remembers Pilcher talking about Abigail and her son. How she had lost the baby. Pilcher was troubled by this as he didn’t have much time. The people start arriving at the mountain but unbeknownst to them half of the pods are not charged. There are only 571 charged pods.

Jason comes to Theo to ask for help. He needs to know who the best people are to save. He wants to save the First Generation. Rebecca asks to see Jason so she can tell him what she has figured out. Jason is off to make the selections. Jason won’t take anyone who is defective, and is going to leave Carrie behind. Jason sends Rebecca off to say goodbye to the town.

Pilcher goes to a hospital and donates money. He wants to name a child Jason so he can bring him to be the leader. The mother of the new child wants to see Pilcher. It turns out she looks exactly like Carrie..and she is also named Carrie. Pilcher tells her that she can have a different life after learning about her.

Jason looks through files and is looking at Carries’. He finds a secret file and finds that she is actually his mother. He is about to blow his brains out when she walks in. He is troubled by the thought of needing to choose who to save.

Jason freaks out and reaches for his gun. Carrie strikes him and they struggle. Suddenly a gunshot rings out! Jason handpicked Carrie as he had no idea of the truth. He waits for her to wake up so they can begin their lives together. Jason was shot and bleeds out dying next to Carrie who is visibly shaken. The guards send away people as Margaret wakes up healed looking down at a throng  of Abbies.

The final episode of Wayward  Pines’ Second Season is  upon us with “Bedtime Story”.

Wayward Pines SN2 EP8 – ‘Pass Judgement’

waywardpines

On the last episode of Wayward Pines, Margaret learned from Theo how to get out of her cage. She slips out and kills of Megan who is her last jailer. She is going to return to her people and they will kill all humans.

Jason talks to his people and tells them all will be fine. Carrie talks to Theo about Margaret. Theo was hoping to build trust between the two sides but Jason’s shooting destroyed it all in 3 flashes of gun powder.

It seems Carrie is unable to have children which means she can’t help Jason. Theo heads to the lab and sees Margaret is gone and Megan is dead. He presses the alarm button to alert everyone. It is clear Margaret aims to take out Jason because of his actions.

The soldiers look for Margaret everywhere on Jason’s command. After seeing what she did to Megan they have to find her. Margaret is outside now, and climbing down a cliff. She jumps off and continues to run. Her agile animal like body is far more robust and she clearly has not suffered.

Theo wants to tell the town now, but Jason doesn’t believe that is best. Carrie is shaken up by the events. Xander goes after Rebecca again because he loves her and because she is pregnant with his child.

Lucy and her brother run to see Rebecca. Margaret remembers the brother as he was the one who found her. She attacks a soldier in town and kills him brutally. Margaret runs along the roofs of the buildings in town after carrying the dead soldier away. She is apparently hit but they don’t find her.

Jason mourns the loss of Megan but is tipped off that Margaret is close by. Xander takes out his guns that he hid and he and Rebecca lead a ragtag group.

Theo and Adam search for Margaret in the woods. Really these two are the best chance for finding her. Rebecca goes to the castle to gather something important from Pilcher’s house. Rebecca can tell the Abbies are going to use an abandoned tunnel. Carrie comes into object to Rebecca’s actions and is put in her place.

Theo stops an  armed standoff after an  accidental shooting. Carrie and Jason head to Jason’s bunker. Jason wants them to be the new Adam and Eve. Carrie finally tells him that she can’t have children.

Rebecca heads outside and is met by Margaret. Margaret senses that she is a mother to be. Xander appears and shoots Margaret in the arm before kissing Rebecca. Adam finds Margaret who was wounded. He doesn’t want to hurt her and lets her escape.Adam follows her into the pipe that she escapes into.  Rebecca leads Jason and Carrie to the pipe and they throw grenades in when they hear Abbies in the distance.

Adam crawls out of the pipe and is met  by a force of Abbies. Margaret pacifies them and he follows her. Theo  is annoyed that Xander gave weapons to civilians especially since Margaret got away and people were hurt.

Margaret is close to death having lost so much blood. What will happen in the next episode? Tune in to episode 9 called “Walcott Prep.”

The Expanse SN1 EP4 – ‘CQB’

The ExpanseEpisode 3 slowed things down intentionally to prepare you for the intensity of Episode 4.

We get to witness more space action, we find out a little bit more about the Martian characters, and we’re introduced to new characters and settings.

Ceres Station

We pick up on Ceres Station. Back in Ep. 3 as Miller, while researching Julie Mao, came across information on the last person she was seen with. Turns out that man is now dead. Miller finds his body at the morgue where he’s able to glean some more on the man’s background such as his name (Bizi Bitiko) and occupation.

Miller decides to dig into the man’s identity. As Miller’s leaving the morgue, we’re shown a youth painting graffiti of Holden’s face on a wall. It seems Holden is now a hero to the masses. Remember that for later.

Miller heads to Biz Bitiko’s hangout (a bar with underground gambling) and asks around to see if anyone knows Julie Mao or Bitiko. No responses about Mao, but he finds out the identity of the body in the morgue was fake. The real Bitiko is still alive and is actually in the race that everyone is currently betting on.

Ironically, the real Bitiko dies during the race.

Miller heads back to the morgue. He takes Octavia to help find out why the dead man had a false ID. She doesn’t find much but notices a” memory crypt” embedded in the man’s calf.

Miller removes the memory crypt. They scan the crypt’s contents and find it contains government records, deepening the mystery.

Throughout the episode, Miller has been trying to get hold of Havelock. After the discovery, he tries one more time.

We’re immediately taken to bloody Havelock laying in an alley, nearly dead from being impaled by the OPA thugs. He’s discovered by a passerby.

Earth

Avarasala waiting

On Earth, Avarasala is made aware of the attack on the Donnager. She’s concerned about the survivors of the Canterbury but is unable to do anything besides worry.

Tyco Station

The majority of “CQB” is set on the Donnager, but we are briefly shown the LDSS Nauvoo, a spaceship being built for the Latter Day Saints at Tyco Station, also in the belt. Here, we meet Fred Johnson (played by Chad L. Coleman; Tyrese on The Walking Dead) who’s in charge of construction. Fred Johnson

Johnson is a former OPA operative. The Latter Day Saints don’t like that, especially given the recent tension causing events. A Representative of the LDS informs Johnson that the LDS council wants to replace him. Johnson counters by reminding them that if he goes, all of the skilled labor goes with him, forcing the LDS reconsider.

Johnson menacingly tells the LDS Rep to get all of the Mormons off the ship to conduct “tests.” The scene ends with Johnson making a call to ask about the status of the Donnager. We’re left wondering, “Whose side is this guy on?”

tim-warnock-tychostation-concept-03v4

The Donnager

In the holding cell, Naomi, Amos, Alex, and Shed are all wondering what Holden is telling the Martians.

The Martians are still convinced that Naomi is with the O.P.A. (Holden refuses to believe she is) and that it’s the OPA who destroyed the Cant. They’re still pressuring Holden to recant his broadcast about the Martians destroying the Cant.

In the middle of the discussion, a fleet of the mysterious ships appears in battle formation and fires on the Donnager. The Captain  and crew assume the Donnager has superior firepower and do not think of the small ships as a threat at first.

Holden mentions to Lopez that he recognizes the attacking ships as the same ones that destroyed the Cant.

As the torpedoes approach, the crew braces for impact/battle. (We now get to see a great sequence on how much effort Sy-Fy is putting into effects for the show.)

The Donnager crew begins knocking out the torpedoes. They notice the fleet of ships has better tech than originally thought, so they decide to switch to their guns and engage in a Close Quarter Battle (CQB).

Things get worse. The enemy ships are fast, powerful, and dangerous. The main drive overloads and the Donnager loses gravity.

In the holding cell, Alex panics. As Shed is trying to calm him down we hear a piercing sound and then a slow, eerie hissing. It turns out Shed has been decapitated by gunfire that’s punctured the hull. Air is slowly leaking out.

Naomi and Amos manage to find a temporary patch. Soon gravity is restored and we get to experience the gruesome effects of death in space.

The Donnager is fatally damaged over the course of the battle. The mysterious attackers begin boarding.

the_expanse_7

The Captain decides to immediately evacuate Holden to Mars Command so he can testify it wasn’t the Martians who destroyed the Cant. Holden doesn’t want to leave without his crew.

With around 20 minutes of air left, Naomi, Amos, and Alex are trying to figure a way out. To save air, Alex sedates himself so his breathing rate will slow. Naomi and Amos think it’s all over for them.

But, as Holden is being transported to a shuttle, the mystery attackers breach the hull and fire on Holden’s escorts. The escort is pinned down and Holden gets away.

He tries to get back to the crew but his escort quickly catches up with him.

Holden strikes a bargain with them if they’ll go back to get his crew. Eventually, they get to Naomi, Amos, and Alex before the air runs out.

We find Holden has agreed to make sure he and the rest all testify that the destruction of the Cant wasn’t the Martians fault.

En route to the holding cell Lopez pointed out the similarities between what’s happening to the Donnager and what happened on Phoebe Station. He tells Holden the Donnager was sent to investigate why Phoebe Station had gone silent.

When they arrived on Phoebe, everyone was dead and the computers were destroyed…as if someone was covering something up.

Meanwhile, the fighting has been raging and things have gotten so bad that the Captain decides to scuttle the Donnager.

Lopez and his team rush Holden’s crew to the shuttle bay where they come under more heavy resistance. They fight their way onto the shuttle, but all of Lopez’s men are killed. Lopez is wounded badly.

Still, under heavy fire, they manage to take off. They get away by blasting a hole in the hull.

As they speed away, Lopez knows he’s about to die. In the background the Donnager self-destructs as Lopez passes away.
