Killjoys SN2 EP3 – ‘ Shaft ‘

The opening sequence this week has Dutch appropriately enough trapped in a dark shaft, having a conversation with Khlyen, in which she accuses him of wanting to turn her into a cold and bloodless level 6. He tells her it has already been done, and then stabs her in the gut right after telling her that everything he has done has been to protect her. How did we get to this pass? To find out we must return back in time to 12 hours earlier. [Read more…]

The Kiss Heard ‘Round The SPN Fandom

**picture credit to redteekal on tumblr & gif credit to It’s Okay Sammy on tumblr**
It happened over a week ago at a Creation Entertainment event in Pittsburgh (PittCon), but it’s what my little corner of the famdom is talking about today. With just a few details (because I get picked on for being too “wordy”), let me set the scene for you… It was the J2 morning panel, Jared wandered off the stage to interact with a fan and Jensen soon waded off into the crowd as well. That’s when It happened. A fan, with her arm thrown around his shoulders, hopped up on tip toes …. and kissed him on the cheek.
Without permission.

Now, I’m not calling for pitchforks and torches. I want to be clear about that. I’m sure she just got a little carried away and caught up in the moment. However, I would like to throw this out there as a precautionary tale.
We, the fans, invite Jared, Jensen and the rest of the cast into our homes once a week… more on Sundays (or whenever you feel the need for a little binge). We’ve read every article, watched con footage, follow them on social media. We know their birthday, their kids’ names, and where they were born. In fact, the only thing we don’t know is what they had for breakfast.
But, they don’t know us.
Oh, we like to think that they do. And, they are aware of our existence, of course. They consider us “family”…. but that’s SPN Family. Not kissing cousins.
To them, we are strangers.
We should never …. NEVER initiate ANY form of contact without asking permission first. We should never invade their personal space without an invitation. That doesn’t just go for Jared and Jensen and the cast of Supernatural. That goes for any celeb you may have a crush on or admire.
I’ve worked in radio (as an on air personality) for a looooong time (not gonna give my age away here) and I can tell you all about listeners who thought they were my best friend because they listened to me everyday and by doing so they invited me into their homes or their cars. I’ve had them come up to me in the grocery store, in parking lots, on the street (etc) and a few of them have creeped me out. I can honestly say that if anyone violated my personal space, I’d have lost my $h!t… for reals.
So please, just remember this little cautionary tale if you ever have the opportunity to meet Jensen… Jared… or whoever your celeb crush may be, remember that they are still a human being, with basic human rights. Get permission before invading their personal space. I can’t speak for them, but I can tell you that with all the photo ops I’ve seen and all the con footage I’ve watched…. they’ll probably say yes to that kiss on the cheek or that hug… but ASK first.
MTV Panels And Fandom Fest At SDCC 2016
MTV are returning to San Diego Comic Con with a panel from fan-favourite show Teen Wolf and autograph sessions from TW and The Shannara Chronicles, however, they sadly will not be bringing Scream this year. MTV will be bringing back their MTV Fandom Fest and Fandom Awards to honour the most dedicated of fans. Any comic-con badge holders are welcome to the event on Thursday July 21st in Petco Park from 6.30pm, but don’t worry if you miss it, as MTV will air the awards show on July 24th.
Teen Wolf panel takes place on Thursday July 21st at 4.30 – 5.30pm in Ballroom 20 with series stars TBA and EP Jeff Davis, and moderator Samantha Highfill. There will be a lively discussion and fan Q&A, including an exclusive first look at the Season 6 trailer and they will share what we can expect in the upcoming season. There will also be a meet-and-greet in the MTV booth TBA.

‘Flatliners’ Remake… With Kiefer Sutherland!!

The original Flatliners came out in 1990, starring Julia Roberts, Kevin Bacon, William Baldwin, Oliver Platt, and Kiefer Sutherland. These five play a group of medical students who consent to kill each other (from a medical and scientific perspective) and bring each other back to life. This is due to the obsession (or “interest,” as one of the characters huffily corrects another) with what happens when life is extinguished, and if there is actually anything after death. They each relive something that they view as a kind of sin from their past… and their guilt haunts and literally chases them throughout the movie.
(WARNING!! SPOILERS AHEAD!!)
Sutherland’s Nelson

Kiefer Sutherland’s character, Nelson, is the death-curious and fame-obsessed medical student who initiates this venture and convinces his classmates to assist him. The other four students take a bit of convincing, but they come around after a bit of coercion from Nelson. Nelson is the first to be killed and revived, and has nothing negative to say about his experience. Throughout the film, he pushes the others to explore more and more dangerous stretches of experimenting with brain-death and discovering what happens after life is extinguished. Once supernatural experiences start happening to the individual members of the group, angry blame is placed squarely on Nelson because he neglected to warn the others of the consequences of going under. At the end of the film, Nelson’s guilty conscience drives him to the edge of insanity, and he becomes convinced that the only way to “atone for his sins” is to die… again… ohh boy.

Modern Remake

Of course, Hollywood is remaking this film… in 2017. it seems all movies are remakes nowadays. And why not? I mean, they are remaking other classics: Ghostbusters, TMNT, Poltergeist, Total Recall, Pete’s Dragon, Annie… I wonder if they have simply run out of ideas in Hollywood or figure that with today’s technology, they should blow every thing up…. Who knows.
Ok, so we know they are remaking the Flatliners movie (directed by Niels Arden Oplev, written by Ben Ripley), this time starring Ellen Page, Nina Dobrev, Diego Luna, James Norton and Kiersey Clemons, among others. And it is rumored that Kiefer Sutherland is committed to the remake!! Schedules were worked out so Kiefer can do his TV series “Designated Survivor” and the film at the same time. According to slashfilm.com, “he would play a seasoned doctor, but not sure if there will be any relation to the characters yet.”

Perhaps the new movie poster will look something like this???
So Now, Theory Time!
Will the filmmakers reference the original or build upon the original story? If Kiefer Sutherland does return in the remake, will he be an older version of the original Nelson? Will Sutherland’s character wish for the new generation to continue his experimental work, or possibly verify the original group’s findings, or help them deal with their own personal trauma? Or, possibly, will he be made into a brand new character? Will be a teacher or an authority figure for the new students who wish to experiment with death? Will he assist the new group of medical students in the new film in their near-death experiences, or tell a cautionary tale against it because of what he and his classmates experienced in the original??
Though I am not for all the remakes they are doing in Hollywood, I am curious as to what they will do with the remake; will they make it darker and scarier than the first? More blood? Gore? Change the story completely as they have with other movies (like Ghostbusters, for example.) Either way, I will have to see it. After all, I did enjoy the first one, so seeing the remake is a must.
A Look At ‘Transformers: Combiner Wars’

I’m a Transformers fan, I have been since the late 80’s when G1 when was huge, the toys were amazing, the cartoons were badass and the comics even had cameos from G.I Joe and Spider-Man. I drifted in and out of love with the cartoons, but there is no doubting my knowledge, I’ve seen Scramble City, I’ve watched the Japanese Headmasters series and most of the series since. Some of them were ok like Cybertron but to be honest as much as it pains me to say some just plain sucked!
That is why when the news of Transformers: Combiner Wars came out my interest was piqued, tbh what toy does a fan like most? Easy the combiners, yes the figures may have been small but when put together you get one badass bot, capable of squishing even Optimus Prime or Megatron.
Then my heart sank, how could they ruin my beloved combiners? I don’t want to see Predaking, Superion or even the mighty Devastator turned into fun kiddy loving characters. How about a show for us the old school fans? I mean the fans that made the first series a success.
The this video droppped online.
Despite some clunky animation, I was optimistic Peter Cullen was back for the role of Optimus and they even quoted and used scenes from the first movie. No not the one with Shia LaBeouf, the proper original cartoon movie. The one that was the perfect fusion of 80’s heavy metal and cartoons in one. Let’s have a quick reflection on one of the most badass and scarring movie scenes from the film. I doubt that some of the later series would have this kinda graphic hardcoreness.
DAMN! Every time, I get goosebumps watching that, but that’s enough reflection, back to the article at hand.
*Goes and watches Transformers The Movie*
OOPS!! Ok now back to the job hand *Sings YOU GOT THE TOUCH, YOU GOT THE POWER YEAH* That just goes to show how awesome the movie is, I watch one clip and get sucked in, that’s why I’m so passionate about the show.
Then it was all quiet for a while, then another clip drops online.
Fans of G1 will again note that despite the new character again hints were dropped that were related to the original movie, most notably the scene where Unicron transforms Megatron into Galvatron. What I did find interesting though it there’s a female character and she looks quite frankly pure badass, less Arcee more Blackarachnia.
Ok so what do we have so far? Prime and Megatron in their G1 forms, a new female character I’m semi psyched.
Then this happens.
HOLY MOLY it’s G1 Starscream despite some wierd choice of music that sounds like a Marks & Spencers food advert, to quote WWE superstar Daniel Bryan.

With all we’ve seen so far Transformers: Combiner Wars looks like a show us fans, the older fans, the G1 fans can get into.
Transformers: Combiner Wars comes out on August 2 2016, I for one can’t wait!
