Wayward Pines SN2 EP4 – ‘Exit Strategy’

waywardpines

On last weeks episode so much happened, and honestly I really hope Ben is not dead. Are the Abbies really gone? How will Jason fair now that he has killed his mother?

The episode opens with Xander waking up in hole, Xander is a key member of the resistance. As he tries to get out of the hole, he climbs up and is attacked by an Abbie. They seem so animal like it is interesting rally seeing how human they still are. Of course Xander kills the bugger climbing out to a wasteland.

As Theo goes for a run, the higher ups talk about pregnancy, Theo and the Abbies. CJ walks in and is upset that the meeting isn’t about crops. He really is right, crops are needed to keep people alive. Without food these last humans will die.

Xander is held at knife point by a bearded man who has been living outside the wall. The man was sent out to scout by Pilcher.

There is a touching scene between Theo’s wife Rebecca, and her young assistant Lucy about how Lucy will be forced to pair up. Obviously a young girl shouldn’t have to have a kid.

Xander uses a fantastic metaphor of coloring outside of the lines. He and his new friend walk back to the gate and simply walk in. Not really safe since no one knows much about this new guy. He goes to Theo and tells him the Abbies are not enemies but the replacements. Are they actually far more intelligent then we give them credit for. What if they can talk?

The new guy who we find out is named Adam walks around town seeing visions of Abbies.  He clearly has seen and killed many of these villains and he is freaking out now that he is in a populated area. Theresa finds him and corners him in alley telling him off, he was on their side and he left them.

Xander walks into his ice cream store when he finds Carrie inside. Xander goes on to tell her that he will tell what Jason wants to hear as he knows a lot more about Abbies now. Adam sits on a bench and watches a boy eat ice cream suddenly he sees in his mind an Abbie killing the boy.

I really despise Megan she is a vicious woman and so intelligent but manipulative as hell. She wants all her kids to have kids so the human race may live, but talking to her brother since she was going to be paired is pretty low.

Theresa stops the trucks heading out of town and  she climbs onto the truck with Adam following to head out of Wayward Pines. Rebecca and Xander clearly have some chemistry but Theo is back in the picture. She returns to her store to see Megan accosting Lucy. Lucy is really not ready for childbirth and it is such an issue. She pushes the horrible woman out and shows she is strong.

Adam heads out alone and comes back with Ben, who really did die. They just keep killing off the best characters especially the old ones. It really is a bummer.

Rebecca wants to protect Lucy and takes her in. She tells him that they pair up these kids who can be as young as 11 and just have them go at it in classrooms. Lucy needs to wait, and it really isn’t right that she has to have a baby so early.

Theo knows this world is all about survival not living. He knows that there is always two irrational points for every single rational idea. Lucy’s brother walks outside at night saddened by his sister who hates him because he told on her. The carousel turns on in a creepy moment, clearly not a good sign.Especially when it turns off…

He sees a female Abbie, the first ever seen. She looks far more human, but we have to wait for next week’s episode Sound the Alarm to find out.

Daredevil SN1 EP4 – ‘In The Blood’

Daredevil_In_the_Blood

Up to this point, we’ve only received descriptions of the Kingpin with him only fully appearing for a single shot in the previous episode. So how does he behave in this episode? The first time we see him, he asks Vanessa – the art dealer out on a date. If this were any other show, we can imagine how he’d behave, she’d say no and he’d start acting intimidating.

Daredevil is a show that takes things in a different direction. Fisk asks her out, she says no and he apologizes, backing away. Vanessa eventually relents to go out with Fisk after he says one of my favorite quotes (“A woman who can be bought is not worth having”). Much of the episode is spent showing the date between Vanessa and Fisk. We see some unique shades to his character. It’s almost unnerving as we expect this character go violent at any second.

He is polite to Vanessa, but he is also surprisingly awkward, often not making eye contact when he talks to her or other characters. Despite his love of culture, Fisk does show his viscous side by the end of the episode. We learn all the talk characters have made for him was not in vain as he murders a henchman – quite gruesomely – for “embarrassing him” in front of Vanessa.

Daredevil himself is in action, rescuing Claire. This is exciting, but the highlight is a more intimate scene where Claire and Matt talk about how long Matt can handle taking these licks, and Matt reveals his secret identity to Claire. There are also b-plots about Foggy wanting to expand the office (with a fax machine – it sounds silly but it fits his character so it works) and Urich being on the case. It’s little new, but everything done right. Overall, this was a solid episode that is most memorable for fleshing out Kingpin’s character.

DHMIS Day 2: Time

After the massive success of the first video, Don’t Hug Me I’m Scared released a follow up episode that teaches us about time!

This second episode is just as creepy as the first one (and maybe even more so). [Read more…]

A Recasted Poison Ivy Is Going To Tangle Up Gotham In Season 3

image

Gotham the amazing prequel series to Batman that tells the story of Jim Gordon and Bruce Wayne becoming their best selves is entering it’s third season.

Now we have seen a slew of villains growing into who they will one day be, from The Riddler to the Penguin with a splash of Joker. Catwoman has also been a main character since season one with her best female friend being a young red head named Ivy Pepper.

Now clearly this girl is supposed to become Ivy. She has all the right things in regard to looks and an affinity for plants to boot.

But there is something about her that really doesn’t mesh with the Ivy’s mythos. She is a little too young, and doesn’t have the seductive power, not even a hint of what she should have.

They will be recasting our dear Ivy Pepper and I honestly think it’s for the best. I have no doubts that they will really pick the perfect young woman for the role.

Besides Ivy, expect more villains in season 3. Fish can swim as we see Fish Mooney is back, Killer Croc is also jumping out of the water along with the Mad Hatter and rumors of Solomon Grundy famous for being born on a Monday. Jerome also appears to be back along with the Court of Owls teased in the finale.

All I know is I’m excited for Season 3 and can’t wait to find out who they will cast as Ivy!

Shrek’s In Line For A Resur-Shrek-tion

image

The green ogre is coming back to the swamp. Looks like Shrek is being resurShrekted.

After a fantastic first movie DreamWorks followed up with a series of movies about this famous ogre.

With a cast of many brilliant actors from Eddy Murphy as Donkey, to John Lithgow as Lord Farquad with Cameron Diaz as Fiona and Michael Meyers as the eponymous Shrek. This movie series has brought many laughs to the world.

Now for a long time it seemed like Shrek was done. After a successful trilogy DreamWorks decided to go for one more run with Shrek Forever After.

Changing up the world of Shrek and throwing in Rumpelstiltskin seemed like a good idea. But the movie wasn’t all that good.

In 2015 they talked about making Shrek 5. The talks soon vanished from news sources. Presumably they were ironing plans out as now it seems the resurShrektion cometh.

I am excited for more news and that the whole team comes back for this new film. Here’s hoping this movie is amazing like the first one as that really outshines all the rest.

The Horror Starts Again: Amityville Horror House For Sale

draugahusid

The house with the demonic eyes

The House in 108 Ocean Avenue, Amityville, New York is definitely the world’s most famous haunted house ever. It’s a 3,600 square foot big Dutch Colonial Home with a dark and scary past.

Let’s start at the beginning of its reputations as a haunted house.

Back in 1974, Ronald DeFeo Jr. killed six of his family members – his parents, two younger sisters and two younger brothers that he shot while they’re asleep. After that massacre, George and Kathy Lutz moved into the house with their children in 1976 and reported evil demon activity. The family fled the home and that story spawned the novel The Amityville Horror: A True Story, but more on it later.

The house is now listed at $850,000 with five bedrooms, including a large boat house on the Amityville River.

The latest owners did a few changes at the outside of the house. They for example changed the demonic eyes looking windows at the front of the house.

Amityville Horror House

The book about the Amityville House

After George and Kathy Lutz published their story about the evil demon activities, American writer Jay Anson’s took this story in 1977 for his book: The Amityville Horror. A film adaption followed later in 1979 from director Stuart Rosenberg (Murder Inc., The April Fools), starring James Brolin (Catch Me If You Can, Beyond Belief) and Margot Kidder (Superman, Halloween II). A few other sequels also followed then but none of them were pretty successful.

Ghost spotted inside the house

Okay, believe it or not, but there are a few pictures going through the world wide web showing a little boy and a little girl walking around inside the house. Most people say they’re fake, but it’s up to you to decide if it’s true or not.

Everybody who wants to know more about the Amityville Horror House should leave a comment, if I should do a book review about The Amityville Horror: A True Story.

DHMIS Day 1: Creativity

maxresdefault2

“What’s your favorite idea? Mine is being creative!”

The line above kicked off one of the awesomest, weirdest, strangest and most troubling video series youtube has ever known. Over the past few years the series titled “Don’t Hug Me I’m Scared” intrigued and disturbed us, but sadly the series will come to an end with the sixth and final “episode” this summer. Since June 19 is the date featured in all episodes, huggers (fans of the series) are predicting the final episode to be released on that date (there are a bunch of other evidence that support this prediction, if you are a hugger, you probably already know them), but no official info was released yet (at least not to my knowledge). So with the finale five days away, I would like to share my reactions to the first five episodes. And then wrap up Don’t Hug Me I’m Scared week with a review of the final episode, which will hopefully be released on June 19th!

So let us begin with part 1, creativity! [Read more…]

Mallrats Follow-Up Will Be a Television Series

mallrats_primary

As someone from New Jersey who just moved to California, there’s not many people I consider bigger role models than Kevin Smith. Interesting news came out about him this week involving the sequel to Mallrats.

Personally, Mallrats is my favorite Smith film. I love every Kevin Smith movie though! Smith is my favorite director around, as well as podcaster.

Hollywood Babble On (which he hosts with Ralph Garman) is one of the few podcasts I feel I must listen to on a weekly basis.

Smith doesn’t just do these things mind you. He wrote one of my favorite comics in recent memory with his Hollywood Babble-On co-host, Batman ’66 Meets The Green Hornet.

Back to the news involving Mallrats.

It was recently revealed that rather then release a sequel in theaters. The follow-up to Mallrats will now be a ten-part TV series.

I’m am very intrigued to see where the show will be airing. It’ll be great to see the band back together and I’d love another Stan Lee appearance like in the first film.

I love Smith but know many may feel differently. To those I say, give this show a shot when it is released. When he’s doing something involving Jay & Silent Bob, he is at his best. I have a feeling myself and many other Smith fans will enjoy this show and it will bring them back to 1995 when Mallrats was originally released.
