Sir Patrick Stewart Confirms Role In Wolverine 3

rsz_professor-x-patrick-stewart-talks-wolverine-3

So it has now been confirmed that Sir Patrick Stewart will be reprising his role as Professor X in Hugh Jackmans final outing as James Logan Hewitt aka Wolverine.

Stewart announced the news via his Twitter account calling it the ‘worst kept secret’ because over the last year Stewart and the producers have been talking about his involvement.

Producer Hutch Parker confirmed the casting a day earlier to Collider after Jackman has previously given details about the plot.

“I’ll be really honest with you, the actual script in it’s full form we’re up to about Page 60” Hugh explained.

“Obviously there’s a treatment, so it’s not fully done yet, we’re not fully there. Patrick does figure in it that’s for sure. I think it’s a really important relationship but I want to see signs of that quasi-father/son sort of relationship that has not been seen before, and sides of particularly Professor X that have not been seen before. So we have some really, really cool ideas.”

We are still unsure to actually what time frame the movie will be based in as we have been teased with an old man Logan timeline further along in Logan’s life where he has a family and the world is broken into territories run by super villains or the latest one where the title of the film was leaked of Weapon X which may mean the story takes place sooner than we had thought.

This film could also be the last time we see Stewart take up the role as Professor X as he does not appear in X-Men Apocalypse.

A Special Star Trek Coin Issued By Canadian Mint

star trek

Canadian Mint has issued a special delta shaped Star Trek insignia coin for Star Trek: The Original Series’ first release in 1966, now 50 years ago. Mints have been known to issue special coins for special occasions. And this is such an occasion; it has been 50 years since the first episode of Star Trek: The Original Series aired. What makes it even more special is it shape, most coins are round or have an octagon shape. The arrowhead shaped coin, which is designed by Susanna Blunt, mimics that of the iconic Delta Shield Insignia. Those insignias were worn by the crew of the U.S.S. Enterprise and became the identifying emblem of Starfleet.

coin.png

***

With such a special occasion the mint issues a limited amount of coins, in this case 1.500 pieces; the mintage. Unfortunately for those living outside the United States and Canada, we are not eligible to buy it directly from the mint. But there are ways to buy them outside the United States and Canada if someone would like to buy them (go to a coin dealer in your country, they can buy it for you.) With such a collectable item it is no wonder that the mintage has been sold out. If you are hoping that they will release another mintage of this design, I hate to burst your bubble, but that is highly unlikely. So gone is gone in this case.

But if you fancy another memorabilia commemorating Star Trek: The Original Series 50th anniversary, the Canadian Mint has issued other Star Trek: The Original Series related coins for the, not as special as the insignia shaped one but still a collector’s item none the less.

***

And yes commemorating coins are legal tenders, unless otherwise stated, so you can buy stuff with it. But let’s be honest who in their right mind would trade their Star Trek ™: Delta Coin for just 200 Canadian Dollar worth of stuff

For more information on the “Star Trek ™: Delta Coin” see the link here.

Angelina Jolie To Take A Ride On The Orient Express

So it seems that Angelina Jolie is in talks with Fox to star in a new adaptation of Agatha Christie’s 1934 novel Murder On The Orient Express. If the negotiations are successful than Jolie would most like assume the role of Mrs Harriet Belinda Hubbard, An American socialite who finds herself in the company of travelers who may or may not be responsible for the death of a wealthy businessman en route from Istanbul to Paris. At this stage it is unknown who will play the clever Belgian detective Hercule Poirot who is at the center of the story, however it is known that Kenneth Branagh will be directing from the screenplay by Michael Green (Green Lantern).

Production is scheduled to begin in London this November before relocating to Malta. You will have to be patience though as Fox is currently planning a November 22, 2017 release date for the period thriller. I am definitely intrigued to see who will play Hercule Poirot, it not a part just anyone can play and as for Jolie she definitely would be the best person to play Mrs Hubbard as Jolie already has a 1934 glamour puss look about her, she has an old world Beauty about her and I believe that era will definitely suit her. For those of you not familiar with Agatha Christie’s Murder on the Orient Express here is a little background for you.

Murder on the Orient Express is a detective novel by the great Agatha Christie and features a Belgian detective Hercule Poirot, the novel was first published in the UK by the Collins Crime Club on 1st January 1934. In 1974 the novel was made into a movie, which was one of the most successful cinematic adaptation of Christie’s work ever and starred; Albert Finney as Poirot, Martin Balsam as M. Bianchi, George Coulouris as Dr. Constantine, Richard Widmark as Cassetti and an all-star cast of suspects including Sean Connery (Arbuthnot), Lauren Bacall (Mrs. Hubbard), Anthony Perkins (McQueen), John Gielgud (Beddoes), Michael York (Count Andrenyi), Jean-Pierre Cassel (Pierre Michel), Jacqueline Bisset (Countess Andrenyi), Wendy Hiller (Princess Dragomiroff), Vanessa Redgrave (Mary Debenham), Rachel Roberts (Hildegard Schmidt), Colin Blakely (Hardman), Denis Quilley (Foscarelli) and Ingrid Bergman who won the 1974 Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role as Greta Ohlsson.

In 2001 a thoroughly modernised and poorly received made-for-TV version starring Alfred Molina as Poirot was presented by CBS. Meredith Baxter co-starred as Mrs. Hubbard and Leslie Caron as Princess Dragomiroff (renamed Señora Alvarado and portrayed as the widow of a South American dictator). Poirot is portrayed as significantly younger and less eccentric than Christie’s detective and in my opinion that’s why it was received so poorly, I love Poirot for how eccentric he is and when you take that away it also takes a certain depth out of the show.

Agatha Christie’s Poirot:
Murder on the Orient Express
In 2010 David Suchet reprises the role of Hercule Poirot in an episode of the television series Agatha Christie’s Poitrot co-produced by ITV Studios and WGBH-TV, adapted for the screen by Stewart Harcourt and was generally faithfully to the original story.

Now this is my opinion and my opinion only, but I think in order for this adaptation to be received and do well, it needs to stay true to its heritage of 1934 and the 1947 adaptation. Poirot needs to remain the eccentric and clever detective because without that its really is just another crime show. I am a huge fan Agatha Christie’s work including Miss Marple and Poirot so I have high expectations if this adaptation goes ahead and i very much look forward to Jolie as Mrs. Hubbard, I think she was born to play that role one day and Im hopping that day comes very soon.

Sharon Stone Confirmed for “Wee” Marvel Movie Role

Sharon Stone (Basic Instinct, Total Recall) has been confirmed for a role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

SharonStone

According to an interview for AARP Magazine, Sharon Stone has confirmed that she has a “minor role” in an MCU movie. She hasn’t revealed much, simply that it will definitely be a superhero and that they have “heat powers.”

Stone had already spoken about this before, on the chat show The Late Late Show with James Corden (where she also got mighty close to longtime fan Sebastian Stan (Captain America: The First Avenger, Political Animals, Once Upon a Time);

“I’m just doing a wee part in a Marvel movie, upcoming, and I can’t tell, because you know, you have to sign confidentiality agreements. But I’m going to do a wee part in a Marvel movie now. That’s it.”

Marvel fans are now speculating on who she could possibly be in the realm of female superheros, and plenty are landing on the theory that she will be Janet Van Dyne – former wife to Hank Pym and mother to Hope in the MCU’s installment of Ant-Man.

In the movie, it’s revealed that Janet sacrificed herself by going sub-atomic as The Wasp, presumably fading away as she shrinks forever. However, given that Scott Lang was able to come back from going sub-atomic, it wouldn’t be a stretch to suggest Janet could have managed the same thing. We never saw her face in the movie either, so it’s left the MCU a lot of room to play with that.

SharonWasp

It also makes sense because whilst Janet doesn’t have “heat powers”, she does use stinger weapons – which could be perceived as a type of heat.

However, there are plenty of other superheroes in the Marvel universe with heat abilities, male and female, and movies are very adaptable. Not to say she’ll shout “FLAME ON” and shoot up into the sky in her part, but there are other options – for example, Gaea, who would be a fitting role in Thor: Ragnarok. She’s an incredibly powerful God with multiple, powerful abilities – and top it off with her very odd connection to Thor, it could make for an interesting character addition.

SharonGaea

However, Marvel are keeping a very tight lid on this, and also appear to have Stone under lock and key. So for now, the internet continues to speculate, until the faithful day that they officially release word, or until someone else who knows at Marvel accidentally lets it slip. We’ll keep you updated…

OOOPS! Peter Capaldi’s Slip of the Lip!

clara

Recently at Awesome Con, Washington DC, during a panel featuring Peter Capaldi and Jenna Coleman, Peter C may have said more than he intended.

‘I’m not sure how successfully Clara was able to wipe his mind. I just…. I was about to tell you something I can’t tell you…’

Jenna Coleman’s character Clara, The Impossible Girl, may be returning for Season 10. Fans will remember that she and Ashildr (Maisie Williams) have wiped the Doctor’s memory of Clara and are wibbly-wobbly, timey-wimey wending their way around the galaxy in a second TARDIS. This leads to all sorts of possibilities. Maybe she will appear as a memory fragment. Or maybe in the flesh. Who knows? Capaldi declined to answer any further questions on this.
That being said, there is a Doctor Who spinoff in the works. Class, an eight episode series, is scheduled to air on BBC Three in the UK, and on BBC America in the US, this year. It is a joint production of BBC America and BBC Cymru Wales, and will be filmed in Cardiff. This spin-off, written by YA author Patrick Ness, will be about Coal Hill School, where of course, Clara taught.

Video clip of the slip of the lip below:

And meet the Doctor’s new companion Bill (Pearl Mackie)!

What are your thoughts on the possibilities for Clara’s reappearance?  And what do you think about the Doctor’s new companion?  Let me know!  And as always, show Team Skatronixxx some love!

Transformers 5 ‘The Last Knight’ Starts Filming In Cuba

transformers_the_last_knight

This is what Transformers fans waited for

It’s only been two years ago, when Transformers: Age of Extinction hit theaters and now they announced the fifth part of the science fiction action film to be released 23rd June 2017! The filming started at the beginning of June in Cuba and we can’t say how excited we’re for the fifth part.

Josh Duhamel thought they’ve already defeated Decepticon Barricade

Josh Duhamel twitter post

In a latest twitter posting of Josh Duhamel (This Is Your Death, When in Rome), he revealed the new (old) villain of the humans and the Autobots. Not only Megatron will again return as villain for the fifth part, also Barricade known as the police car from Transformers One, who hunted Sam and Mikaela will return to the show.

It’s nice to hear that Josh Duhamel will also return as Capt. William Lennox to the show. Besides him Mark Wahlberg will also return as Cade Yeager and a legendary actor has been announced too:

Transformers twitter post

It’s none other than Sir Anthony Hopkins (Collide, The Silence of the Lambs)! We’re curious which role he’ll play in the movie. I can imagine him as a human villain, but we’ll see how it all turns out in the next few month.

Bumblebee gets a brand new look

Michael Bay twitter post

As every fan knows, Bee was always shown as a Chevrolet Camaro and this won’t change in the future. General Motors built a brand new customized Camaro 2016 for the show and the results are amazing!

camaronormal_g650xx

As you can see, there are many differences between the customized car and the new Camaro 2016 model. The front of the car has been deformed and is now more angular than before. It has a massive black front spoiler with a black girder and a small Chevrolet sign. They also enlarged the rear spoiler which makes the car more look like a racer.

The cast so far

Mark Wahlberg as Cade Yeager

Josh Duhamel as Capt. William Lennox

Anthony Hopkins as Unknown

Jerrod Carmichael as Unknown

Isabela Moner as Izabella

Loneliest Dog Freya as homeless dog Freya

Producer Michael Bay  (Bad Boys, 13 Hours) also announced that they gave Britain’s most Loneliest Dog, a role in the new Transformers. The dog is called Freya and will play a homeless dog which will attend Cade and the others on their journey.

Last but not least, a small Teaser of the new Transformers movie:

Game Of Thrones SN6 E8 – ‘No One’

Welcome back Meereenese, to your weekly review of Game of Thrones. The episode I shall be recapping is episode 8 of season 6 — ‘No One.’ Let’s get started!

Riverlands

While some of the Brotherhood Without Banners members are fooling around, Sandor finds them and brutally kills them with his axe. He continues searching for their leader, and ends up coming across Beric Dondarrion and Thoros of Myr, who found the remaining responsible men first. Sandor bargains with Beric and Thoros to be allowed to kill two of the men, which they finally allow him to do —but only by hanging them. Afterwards they sit around a campfire, and Beric and Thoros try to recruit Sandor to join the Brotherhood in heading North to fight the White Walkers, claiming that the Lord of Light gifted Sandor with such a talent for violence for a reason.

Riverrun

Brienne and Podrick arrive at Riverrun where the siege is taking place. Brienne tells Jaimie that she has come to recruit the Blackfish and the Tully army for Sansa to retake Winterfell. Jaimie points out that they are preoccupied at the moment with the siege, as the Blackfish refuses to surrender the castle. Brienne proposes that if the Blackfish surrenders the castle, then in return he will be allowed safe passage to lead the Tully army North. Jaimie agrees, giving Brienne till nightfall. When Brienne speaks to the Blackfish he says he cannot help Sansa’s cause, as he will never abandon his home. Brienne then asks Podrick to find a maester to send a raven back to Sansa, telling her that she has failed. In the meantime, Jaimie speaks to Edmure Tully and attempts to get him to cooperate with his demands. Jaimie threatens to kill every Tully, including Edmure and his newborn son, in order to be reunited with Cersei. Edmure finally agrees to help. The Tully soldiers lower the drawbridge, surrender the castle and capture the Blackfish as per Edmure’s orders. The Blackfish helps Brienne and Podrick escape, fighting off solders before dying. As Jaimie is informed that the Blackfish is dead, he sees Brienne and Podrick rowing away on the river. They gaze across the distance into each other’s eyes, before waving farewell (Tormund better watch out).

Meereen

Tyrion and Varys walk down to the docks, listening to the Red Priestesses preach about Daenerys being chosen by the Lord of Light. Tyrion bids Varys farewell, as Varys is leaving for Westeros in search of allies with boats. Varys  warns Tyrion to not trust the Red Priestesses. Later on, Tyrion settles down for a drink in the pyramid with Grey Worm and Missandei. He tries to teach them how to relax and make jokes, which eventually yields results, thanks to some wine. Just when Grey Worm starts smiling at Missandei, a fleet sent by the Masters arrives and attacks Meereen. Missandei warns Tyrion that they have come to reclaim their “property.” The Master’s fleet continues to bombard the city alight with fire, and Tyrion, Missandei and the Unsullied try to think of a plan of defence. A loud noise is heard outside the impenetrable pyramid, Drogon has touched down with Daenerys Stormborn.

King’s Landing

Qyburn informs Cersei that the Faith Militant has been allowed inside the Red Keep. She goes out her room to meet them, and they tell her that the High Sparrow wants to speak with her, which she refuses. They threaten violence if she disagrees, to which she replies, “I choose violence.” Gregor easily disposes of a Faith Militant member, so they back off for the time being. Later on, Cersei attends a royal announcement made by her son in the Throne Room. King Tommen announcnes that trial by combat will now be banished throughout the Seven Kingdoms as it is too violent. Qyburn reports back to Cersei about a certain rumour she had ordered him to investigate on. He tells her that it is “more, much more.” (Perhaps the High Sparrow has a secret lineage?)

Braavos

Lady Crane returns to her chambers after performing her Cersei routine, which is revamped with Arya’s critiques in mind. She finds Arya wounded and hiding in the corner, and helps stitch her wounds. Arya asks what happened to Bianca, the actress that wanted Lady Crane dead. Lady Crane answers that she mutilated Bianca’s face, so that no company would ever hire her. Lady Crane gives Arya milk of the poppy to sleep, but Arya wakes up later after hearing a loud crash in the room. She finds Lady Crane’s dead, twisted body with the Waif smiling proudly at her handiwork. Arya runs and jumps out the balcony onto the street below, with the Waif in close pursuit. She sprints down an alley, sliders under a cart, slips into a nearby men’s sauna and waits a bit before exiting. The Waif finds her again though, and Arya is forced to jump and tumbles down the steps of a market, with the Waif still coming at her. Arya clutches her bleeding stomach and proceeds down lonely alleys leaving a trail of blood on the walls as she goes, which the Waif follows. Arya leads her to an abandoned dark building, lit by one faint candle. She came prepared —Needle is in her hand, but the Waif also has a weapon. Arya cuts the candle, snuffing the light out. At the house of Black and White, Jaqen finds a bloodtrail and follows it to the source —the Waif’s face has joined the many faces on the wall. Jaqen turns around and tells Arya that she is finally No One, but Arya disagrees. She declares, “A girl is Arya Stark of Winterfell. And I’m going home.”

What does the next episode look like? Watch the Season 6 – Episode 9 trailer below.

Can I just say how relieved I am that Arya is alive and sorta well? I know there were a ton of theories out there about how Lady Crane was also a “No One,” but I wasn’t feeling it. It was pretty obvious with that smile from Jaqen at the end, that whatever his purpose was in training Arya he achieved it. Maybe the Many-Faced-God simply wanted her to be trained, and Jaqen achieved his goal? Just watch her infiltrate Winterfell, and kill Ramsay Bolton please. What was your favourite moment from this episode? Thoughts on the upcoming war? Comment, share and like below, or tweet me @SohoDoll. And as always, “Valar morghulis.”

Adam Rodriguez Joins Criminal Minds

a2.png

After eleven seasons Shemar Moore is leaving the cast of Criminal Minds and with him the beloved character of Derek Morgan. As a team member leaves his place is usually filled by a newbie. This is exactly what happened. CBS has announced that the open spot in the team that Shemar Moore is leaving behind will be filled in by Adam Rodriguez (CSI: Miami alumnus) for the twelfth season.

a1

I shall miss Derek’s endearing, albeit it is work floor inappropriate behaviour towards Penelope Garcia (played by the lovely Kirsten Vangness). Their onscreen dynamic is one of a kind, with loving terms as baby girl and hot chocolate. The awkward situations that have led to are too many to count but oh so funny.

a3

In the eleven years running Criminal Minds has had its fair share of actors (un)willingly leaving the show. I hope that there is chemistry between the other members of the BAU and the for now unnamed character which will be played by Adam Rodriguez. Why do you ask? Because I have had the feeling that they, the casting people, missed the target, so to speak, with a new addition in a previous year. When Jeanne Tripplehorn left Criminal Minds after just two seasons her place in the team was filled in by Jennifer Love Hewitt (The Ghost whisperer). A good actress but I did not get the feeling of team chemistry with the others on the team. Which was a tremendous let down for me, because I had such high hopes because I truly like Jennifer Love Hewitt as an actress. That feeling grew during the season, sadly. And I hate to say it even but I was actually relieved to learn that Jennifer Love Hewitt would not return for season eleven. It is unclear to me if she will return for season twelve.

The casting people surprised me when Aisha Tyler (co-host of The Talk) got cast for season eleven to fill in for both Jennifer Love Hewitt and A.J. Cook, who were on maternity leave at that time. I was very sceptical especially after the mismatch (to me) with Jennifer Love Hewitt. I kept an open mind and watched the show. What happened is that I got blown away by Aisha Tyler. She fitted so brilliantly in the team. Even though she was an outsider she felt as one of the guys. Maybe because she played it as an outsider. Her casting has giving me hope for Shemar Moore’s replacement in the cast of Criminal Minds.

And I know it can’t be an easy task for casting directors to find the right person for a job (even if it’s their job). You never know how things will work out; after all we are all human.

However that being said nobody can replace Shemar Moore’s character Derek Morgan. Nor should it be tried. I hope that Adam Rodriguez’s; character will help us miss Derek Morgan less in its own unique way and will be a helpful and bright addition to the BAU team in their hunt for criminals or as they call them unsubs.

Daredevil SN1 EP3 – ‘Rabbit In A Snowstorm

Daredevil28

The episode begins with a brutal fight at a bowling alley. The perpetrator wants a lawyer. The lawyers he seeks out are none other than Nelson and Murdock. This episode establishes how Foggy and Murdock’s relationship works and the tough decisions they face. They are offered a fortune to represent an obviously guilty client. So they can represent him and make a lot of moolah. At first they argue before they agree to take the case.

This episode also establishes a little more on how Daredevil operates. He uses information he learns in court to gain information from street thugs through vigilantism. Daredevil is in action twice – once is just a standard interrogation. Next is an intense fight where we see how brutal Daredevil can be – even outright threatening to murder someone.

Ben Urich is introduced in this episode. We learn about his personality. He is a run-down newspaper writer who is trying to uncover all the crime in Hell’s Kitchen. Urich works for peanuts, but is determined. One of his co-workers informs him that blog writers and people who work for cheap sites are making a fortune. I can not verify that claim.

The most important part of this episode is the first physical appearance of the Kingpin. The buildup is superb. He’s already been discussed and we’ve heard his voice in the first two episodes. However, in this episode, we see the true reach of Fisk’s power as the bowling alley murder commits suicide – rather violently – because that is preferable to facing Kingpin’s wrath for revealing his name. After all that, we only see Fisk at a museum, mesmerized by a painting. He starts to talking to the museum owner about how he likes the painting. This is a good introduction as it feels like a comic. Often comics will introduce a character this way – panels showing their dialogue with one panel revealing the character. Plus, this is good suspense because the calm way he is introduced contrasts with the violent descriptions we have gotten. It gives some dimension to the character and builds suspense, making us wonder what he is capable of.

Overall, this is another satisfying episode – even though it’s a little more dialogue heavy, the dialogue is good and helps establish the personality of the characters. The action was solid and we are fully introduced to a key character.

Orphan Black SN4 EP9 – ‘The Mitigation Of Competition’

Don’t know about you, but I REALLY missed the Helena crazy murder dub-step theme, and in this episode, it had its long awaited triumphant return!

A lot of other stuff happened this episode too, so let’s begin! [Read more…]
