Michael Barbieri (Little MenThe Dark Tower, Killer) has been cast in Spiderman: Homecoming.

The up-and-coming actor has been rumoured to be based on Ganke Lee, best friend to Miles Morales (a Spider-Man from another universe.) However, there has been backlash to this rumour due to the fact that Ganke is an Asian character. This comes not all that long after the recent Doctor Strange issue of whitewashing by casting Tilda Swinton, and the massive backlash towards Marvel from fans.

Ganke

However, this is just a rumour, and no official word on who he’s actually playing has been released by Marvel.

Barbieri is known most for his role of Tony Calvelli in Little Men and is currently cast as the role of Timmy in The Dark Tower, the TV adaptation of the Stephen King series by the same name.

Spiderman: Homecoming is due for release on July 7th 2017, with Tom Holland (Captain America: Civil War, In the Heart of the Sea, Billy Elliot the Musical) set to star as the web-slinger. He’ll be reprising the role after the characters debut in Captain America: Civil War.

Zendaya

Other actors to star in this movie include Zendaya (K.C. Undercover, Black-ish), Marisa Tomei (The Big Short, The Wrestler), Tony Revolori (The Grand Budapest Hotel, The 5th Wave), Michael Keaton (Birdman, Batman, Batman Returns) and Laura Harrier (Unforgettable, 4th Man Out) with Robert Downey Jr. (The Judge, Sherlock Holmes, Iron Man) set to feature in the movie as Iron Man/Tony Stark.

Norman Reedus As Ghost Rider

If there’s one thing Norman Reedus is known for, besides starring in AMC’s The Walking Dead, it’s his ability to ride a motorcycle. Thanks to this bad-ass ability he has had the opportunity to have his own show titled Ride with Norman Reedus.

While he won’t be shooting walkers with his crossbow, he had the chance to do an interview with Uproxx about motorcycle-related topics. When asked by Uproxx if he would be down to play Ghost Rider if Marvel came calling, his response was pretty much what we’ve come to expect and love from Norman. A hell yeah! Seriously, this is what he says:

“Hell yeah. It would be a blast. Do I get a skull face that’s on fire and all that stuff? Fuck yeah. I’m down.”

So who is Ghost Rider? A stunt motorcyclist named Johnny Blaze who sold his soul to Satan in order to save his father’s life (crossroads Demon anyone?). Every night Blaze’s flesh becomes consumed with hellfire with a flaming skull atop his head. The motorcycle he rides is also fiery, and Blaze has the power to make his chain a weapon of fire.

Norman also acknowledged that he liked Nicolas Cage‘s version of Ghost Rider which included Ghost Rider (2007) and the sequel Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance (2012). After the sequel, Nicolas Cage said he was done with the Ghost Rider films, and the film rights have returned back to Marvel Studios. With this in mind, it definitely seems possible for Norman to snag the role (and he’d be damn good at it).

Here’s a short clip of Nicolas Cage’s version of Ghost Rider. Keep in mind with the new CGI effects of 2016, Ghost Rider would look even more amazing, plus Norman Reedus starring? Hell yeah. We are so on board with this.

What do you think about Norman as Ghost Rider? The perfect fit? Worried about how it may clash with his TWD schedule? Or maybe you think a Ghost Rider remake shouldn’t happen and Norman has a better Marvel/DC role suited for him? Whichever the case let us know. Comment, share and like below, or tweet me @SohoDoll.

Marvel Animation Has Confirmed Short Series For ‘Ant-Man’ And ‘Rocket & Groot’

MarvelAnimationLogo

Marvel Animation will be working on a pair of TV short series, titled Ant-Man and Rocket and Groot.

Ant-man_Ants

This information came from Variety’s article regarding international projects that will be made in France (due to their tax rebates on animation work). Both series will be made by French filmmakers.

Rocket and Groot will be directed by Arnaud Delord. His work mostly consists of music videos, but the visuals are wonderful and outlandish. This direction will be more than enough to showcase the adventures of Rocket Racoon and Groot themselves.

RocketRacoonGroot

The team being Ant-Man consists of Kevin Manach and Ugo Bienvenu. They have a more retro-graphic style, which is going to be absolutely perfect for a comic adventure, especially a hero as crazy and fun as Ant-Man.

So far there’s no word on when productions beginning (hopefully soon!) and when we can expect to see the series, but for now, know that something awesome is in the works for Marvel Animation!

Wayward Pines SN2 EP3 – ‘Once Upon A Time In Wayward Pines’

waywardpines

The episode begins with a brief recap of the series showing all that has happened. Then a fairy tale like story begins, hence the Once Upon a Time in the title. The fairy tale is about the villain I love to hate Jason  the dictator of Wayward Pines.

Theo does not believe that the Abbies are gone after his assistant tells him. Two days without Abbies and Jason is assured by himself that they are gone for good. Such a foolish man-child. Carrie warns if Ben is dead and I hope he is not, that Jason killed him.

Theo won’t stop asking questions even if it kills him. At Jason and Carrie’s house, Nurse Pam a villain from Season one reappears after being presumed dead. Jason the first born son of Wayward Pines grows as the town begins too. I love how they brought Djimon Honsou into this flashback showing that he has been in the universe a lot longer, legitimizing his character as a strong force.

Pam always the manipulator tries to guide Jason again. He’s a son to her and she will make him need her once again, even though he can’t stand that he killed Pilcher. He parades her in front of the citizens and tells them that he forgives her and they will all move forward with her.

Pam talks to Theo about his wife and practicing medicine in Wayward. She sends him off saying that she needs to tidy up and  takes a syringe. What is Pam going to do with this Syringe?

Jason continues to grow, but as he does the world shrinks because of the vicious fence. The teacher of Wayward Pines talks to Jason about Pam and her brother the first Dictator. She convinces him to return to his party saying that they will always be behind him.

In class, the teacher is pairing people for the future. Some of the children haven’t waited and are already pregnant or working towards it like she want them too. Pam walks back into the compound and it shows Pilcher’s murder once again. I’m curious to see what her goal is in coming back so strongly. The teacher rolls in as Pam is stealing bio-hazardous materials from the lab. Clearly these two women are at odds with each other and always have been.

Theo talks to Rebecca again and asks why she isn’t wearing her ring, she states she didn’t get it. Pam heads back to her house and sees fresh kids running away after spray-painting Murderer on it. Pam shoves the syringe into the bottle and is about to use it when Theo walks in to talk she is thoroughly shaken by his appearance. Theo questions her about her brother and why she did what she did. He asks why he wasn’t the only reason they were there. He certainly does ask the tough questions, but can she answer them? She sends him off with nothing because she is clearly hiding something.

As soon as he is gone she shoves the needle in her arm like a junky. Apparently it contains Fairiola Major.

In a meeting with Jason, CJ, and Carrie Pam walks in and kisses Jason on the lips. Theo walks in and tells them to stay where they are except for Pam. Looks like her endgame isn’t savory in the slightest. Fairiola Major turns out to be Small Pox and Pam wants to kill everyone with it.

She says that they have lost sight of what they first wanted. She wants Jason to lead his people to peace and now he has to kill her. The fairy tale continues with Jason coming after Pam killed Pilcher. He killed all of the rebels of season one in front of them, a vicious move in a small community. Pam hates what Jason is, as there is no humanity in murder as she says.

I enjoy seeing Pam in her final moments as sick as it sounds, she is just as tyrannical and evil as her brother. She gives Jason an ultimatum when he comes to see her in her chamber, to kill her or let her die. Jason calls Theo a hero which surprises me because Jason clearly doesn’t give out compliments often.

Jason never heard the end to his own fairy tale but it was all a lie anyway. She tells him that he will never take the out lands from the Abbies. He chokes her to death in a moment that will haunt him forever I’m sure. She was his mom and having him kill her actually makes him a more realized character. Of course right after he talks to send out the first group beyond the wall, reminds me a little of Attack on Titan.

Theo wants to find his watch because it was the only gift his father ever gave him. He shares his first beer and then continues to do at 5:30 for years until he is taken for the Wayward trip. He is saddened by the thought of his father continuing to go to the bar for their weekly beer but never seeing him again. This is such a visceral and real moment, a moment where you see Theo as a real person and that is a good thing.

Of course Pam’s body is burned in a pyre so her toxic soul is burned to ash. CJ watches sad as the classical music twists.

This episode included many amazing scenes and a lot of good character development. Pam’s resurgence brought out Jason’s will to take over everything and we learned about these character’s past. Now, fueled by her words Jason is going to really heat things up in the pines, and it will be up to the rebels and Theo to take him down when he finally loses it like his parents.

It will be exciting to see the next episode, “Exit Strategy,” next Wednesday!

Rick And Morty SN1 EP2 – ‘Lawnmower Dog’

22881

Rick and Morty’s official first episode is Lawnmower Dog. Now Lawnmower Dog begins with Rick outfitting Morty’s stupid dog with an intelligence helmet. This helmet obviously comes into play later on.

Snuffles plays off Jerry, making Jerry seem smarter in the opening to show off the real change coming.  Jerry pleads for Rick to help out the family, and shows off another layer for this dimwitted dad. One of the only moments where he really does something.

Again I love how Rick despises school. He loves to talk down school and by saying homework is just done to get less out of the kids does make perfect sense.

The meat of this episode revolves around Morty and Rick traveling through his math teacher’s brain in order to get him an A. What happens is a terrible journey through the dreams of different people begins.

His math teacher’s dream is all about him and Mrs.Pancake flirting, before Rick and Morty come in and “9/11” it. Now Mrs.Pancakes dream is twisted, a terribly raunchy dream where Summer even wants Morty, another layer from Morty’s teacher. After jumping into a centaur’s dream, they fall into a nightmare involving Scary Terry.

Slowly but surely Snuffles begins to talk and do. Snuffles is a fantastic character because he just wants to be the best he can be especially after seeing a wolf documentary.

The obligatory 80’s-esque slasher movie reference of Scary Terry is phenomenal.

“Where are my Testicles Summer?” Like another horror movie line.Snuffles appears before Summer’s bed.  He goes on to talk to her, about how terribly dogs are treated. Now, the dogs are in control.

The show then goes on to obliterate the writing of those old horror movies. Having them hide instead of run stops Terry from really being able to do anything.

“You think you can control me with a haircut?” Jerry is so stupid, he doesn’t realize Snowball is threatening to neuter him.

They then jump into Terry’s dream and give hm pants stopping his nightmare of being pants less in school. With Terry’s help they blast through the dreams waking everyone up. With Terry’s help the teacher vows to give Morty an A.

In the end of it all Snuffles, saves Morty and decides it’d be best for his kind to leave Earth behind for a place that has mandatory pet insurance. Which is rather hilarious because the pets basically become human once they leave their humans.

They now have to stop the dogs so Jerry decides to run in and pee on everything to claim it all. But of course his face is rubbed in urine. Classic Jerry trying so hard in order to fail. As the dogs rule, Morty is given top spot, but Rick busts in to say it is just a dream.

Seeing Morty dying before him Snuffles wakes up and vows to create a dog world, where pet insurance is mandatory. The episode ends with Morty and Rick talking about how they’d definitely watch a show about a dog driven universe.

This episode is rife with amazing cultural references, from Inception to Scary Terry’s swords for hands. Terry’s gratuitous use of Bitch makes the episode that much better as it should be the line he uses when he finishes a foe. All in all a great episode of Rick and Morty

Bob’s Burgers Was Originally About A Family Of Cannibals

wp-1465445556633.png

YES! You read that correctly, Bob’s Burgers was originally ment to be about a family of cannibals. Bob’s Burgers creator Loren Bouchard had originally pitched the show to Fox as a family of Cannibals who also run a restaurant, although Fox wasn’t a big fan of the Cannibalism they still decided to give the show the green light as long as the Cannibalism was dropped from the concept. The pilot episode of the show was actually a nod to the original premise of the Cannibalism, where the Belcher family must convince the health department that they aren’t selling human flesh in their Burgers. The show would’ve worked with the cannibalism given that everything is zombie mad, I know I still would have tuned in.

Bob’s Burgers is one of my all time favorite animated comedies, and has become one of the most beloved animated comedies on the air right now. If you haven’t seen Bob’s Burgers you are really missing out guys! So the show (Bob’s Burgers) is centered around an eccentric family (The Belcher’s) that owns a burger joint. So what makes this show stand out from the others you ask? Well its the crazy characters, the unique and ever so clever plot lines and the jokes. Bob’s Burgers will make you laugh out loud with their crazy and eccentric antics. Oh and keep an eye on the banners above the shops as they change every episode.

wp-1465445616442.jpg

So lets meet The Belcher’s

Bob is the owner of the restaurant and husband to his fun-loving and free spirit wife Linda. Their three children are Tina who is the oldest, Gene they only boy and Louise, the youngest. The kids help around the restaurant when they feel like it or if there is something in it for them.

Louise (youngest) is a precocious menace with plenty of sass who is the instigator of most of the debacles that The Belcher’s find themselves in.

Gene (only boy) is a light-hearted goofy boy who aspires to be a great musician.

Tina (oldest) the most awkward one of the family, but she is full of heart as we watch her awkwardly muddle her way through her pubescent experiences, like waxing her legs and her obsession over the neighborhood boys.

As well as The Belcher’s there are recurring characters throughout the series including Bob’s competition (owns the pizzeria across the street) and enemy  Jimmy Pesto Sr and who’s son Tina is obsessed with Jimmy Jr, Louise’s friends Andy and Olli, The Belcher’s landlord Calvin Fischoeder, Teddy a regular at Bob’s Burgers, Mort the funeral director and Gayle, Linda’s eccentric sister.

Once you watch it you will wonder why you didn’t watch it sooner! I promise you will, be hooked. Below is a video of the ‘Best Bits’ of season 1. Enjoy!

DC’s Legends Of Tomorrow Season 2 News!!

legendsheader.jpg

With the departure of Captain Cold (Wentworth Miller) (sob!) and Hawkgirl (Ciara Renee), our lovable time travelling misfit crew of  Legends will need replacements.

Good news first! Word has it that one of these replacements will be Vixen, that lady granted a very special bond with animals via the magical Tantu Totem, supposedly created by  the African Trickster God, Anansi the Spider.

Vixen aka Mari McCabe has already made a live action appearance in the Arrowverse, helping Ollie (Stephen Amell) and Team Arrow to save his son but here is where the bad news bit comes in. Megalyn Echikunwoke, the actress whose role this has been since the inception of the animated CW Seed series, is not available to play Vixen for Legends. Her career has taken off, and she just plain will not have the time to be a Legends regular. She will be able to continue with her voiceover for the animated series. Rumor has it that she may even be able to make a guest appearance or two on any of the CW’s Arrowverse shows.

rsz_arrowvixen
However, and this is important, Vixen will NOT be recast for Legends. The role will instead involve an older Vixen, who may or may not be related to Mari McCabe. The infinite possibilities of time travel means that there could be a Vixen team up at some point.

At this point the role has not yet been cast. Stay tuned to Skatronixxx.com for news relating to Vixen, and other possible characters for the upcoming Legends season. In the meantime, who do you think should be cast as the older Vixen? What other DC characters would you like to see either as guest appearances or regulars?

Just in case you missed this badass woman on Arrow….

T’s Summer Binge-watch Guide: 21 Jumpstreet

I’m sure that like me, most of the shows you’re addicted to are in hiatus for the summer, and like me, you’re pretty bummed about it.

Don’t be.

Take this opportunity to find some old classics.  If you don’t have time to search for something to watch, don’t worry…. leave it up to me.  Summer bingeing has been my self prescribed therapy for any number of ails, including Hellatus, for awhile now.

So, may I prescribe for your summer hiatus woes…. 21 Jumpstreet (the original television show)?  The show that launched not only Johnny Depp‘s career into the stratosphere, but a fledgling network (Fox) too.

Premise of the show:  Baby faced cops go undercover into high schools to fight crimes… rape, drugs, gang violence, murder, etc.

Primary Cast:

Tom (Tommy) Hanson …  Johnny Depp

Doug Penhall …  Peter DeLuise

Judy Hoffs …  Holly Robinson Peete

Harry (H.T.) Ioki …  Dustin Nguyen

Capt. Adam Fuller …  Steven Williams

Pros:  There’s a lot of funny sprinkled throughout great drama.  They attacked every major problem teenagers faced… then and now.  A lot of their topics are still pertinent today.  Now, there’s a few times where the technology of the late ’80’s & early 90’s is totally laugh worthy (i.e. the cell phone that looks like a huge brick), but for the most part, it’s easy to over look those things.  There’s episodes like Orpheus 3.3 that shows off Depp’s acting skills, when Hanson has trouble dealing with a “lost” 3.3 seconds that he can never get back.  There’s glimpses of a ton of big name stars before they were big.. like Brad Pitt, Jada Pinkett Smith (back before she married Wil), Josh Brolin, Christina Applegate, Vince Vaughn,  and The Walking Dead’s Michael Cudlitz.  I had a lot of fun playing “Oh that’s that guy/girl from that show/movie”.  Some of the best moments involve Hanson and Penhall going undercover as The McQuaid Brothers…

Cons:  The show was cancelled without getting a clear ending.  But, since there wasn’t a “cliff hanger” ending and each episode pretty much stands on it’s own, no clear ending doesn’t really affect your enjoyment of the show as a whole.

The show is not available to stream on Netflix, but it is on Hulu.  There are some episodes available on Youtube as well.  There’s 103 episodes in all, and it spawned a spin off show called Booker starring Richard Grieco.  (BT-dubbs, if you find Booker available anywhere to stream, please let me know!)

A little trivia about the show… star Holly Robinson Peete sang the theme song and the shouted “Jump”‘s in the song are done by Johnny Depp and Peter DeLuise.

After you watch, leave me a comment and let me know what you thought of the show!
