Scoop: Lucifer Season 2

wp-1464918241229.jpeg

So Mum is definitely the word going to into Lucifer season 2, given that the last episode shows Lucifer and Amenadiel’s mother has escaped hell. The role of mom is yet to be cast. Joe Henderson, Lucifer’s show runner says “For a while we’ve seen that Amenadiel’s been trying to be ‘God’s favorite son’, emulating himself after his father. So you can imagine that Lucifer might be ‘his mother’s son'”. We should also read into the fact that Maze went MIA after saving Amenadiel. The EP also wishes to feature more of Dr Linda (Rachael Harris) in season 2 with her serving as a confidante for other characters in the show.

There is still much debate as to who and what mom is, the majority at this stage say it’s Lilith who is the first female demon and at this stage everyone is remaining tight lipped as to who will play mommy dearest in season 2. I am very much looking forward to seeing how season 2 plays out after season 1 there is plenty of questions to be answered as well as plenty of avenues go down story wise.

Lucifer season 2 is set to air in fall 2016 in its usual time slot, which is Monday’s at 9:00-10:00pm Eastern/Pacific time.

Guardians of the Galaxy 2 – Villain Revealed

As always, Marvel is quite adept at keeping revealing plot details of their movies to themselves —characters included. However, thanks to some detective work by JoBlo, we now have the suspected role of a new villain narrowed down to one cast member.

Here’s a main cast list:

  • Chris Pratt as Peter Quill / Star-Lord
  • Zoe Saldana as Gamora
  • Dave Bautista as Drax the Destroyer
  • Vin Diesel as Groot
  • Bradley Cooper as Rocket
  • Michael Rooker as Yondu Udonta
  • Karen Gillan as Nebula
  • Sean Gunn as Yondu’s first mate in the Ravagers
  • Glenn Close as Irani Rael / Nova Prime
  • Pom Klementieff as Mantis / Celestial Madonna
  • Chris Sullivan (role unknown)
  • Kurt Russel as Peter Quill’s father
  • Elizabeth Debicki as Ayesha

Ayesha

Ayesha’s list of aliases is rather long: Her, Paragon, J’Ridia Starduster, and Kismet, to name a few. Thanks to JoBlo’s independent sources we know with certainty that her name in GOTG 2 will in fact be Ayesha. Who is Ayesha? Basically a bunch of scientists came together and created “the perfect human.” She has kick-ass superpowers, and her ultimate goal is to find the perfect mate.

Elizabeth Debicki

So who is this actress, Elizabeth Debicki, and why is she getting the role of such a kick-ass villain? While she certainly looks like a promising Ayesha, with her beautiful golden skin and blonde hair, she has years of experience starring in major stage performances, films and TV series. Her accredited stage performances include the productions The Gift and The Maids, at the Melbourne Theatre Company and the Sydney Theatre Company respectively. Some of the major films she has starred in are The Great Gatsby (2013), Macbeth (2015), The Man from U.N.C.L.E. (2015), and Everest (2015). Most recently she has caught the eye of the public with her performance in the TV series The Night Manager.

So what are your opinions on this casting? If you’ve watched Debicki act before, do you think she suits the role well? Or would you have preferred a different casting? Comment, share and like below, or tweet me @SohoDoll. And as always, “I am Groot.”

Brie Larson In Early Talks To Play Captain Marvel

Several sources have revealed that Brie Larson, who won the Academy Award for Best Actress, is the frontrunner to star as Captain Marvel in the 2018 superhero film of the same name. Variety reports that Brie Larson is Marvel’s preferred choice to play Carol Danvers (Captain Marvel) though the negotiations are still in early stages.

Marvel has reportedly also been searching for a female director to helm the epic. Jennifer Kent (The Babadook) and Niki Caro (McFarland USA) have emerged as contenders to take on the directing job.

The movie already has a script written by Nicole Perlman who co-wrote Guardians of the Galaxy for Marvel Studios and Meg LeFauve who co-wrote Inside Out for Pixar.

Captain Marvel will mark Marvel’s first female led superhero movie. The film will hit cinemas in 2018.

Wayward Pines SN2 EP2 – ‘Blood Harvest’

waywardpines

The episode begins with a brief recap of last week’s episode. Theo has decided against being a pawn and been sent out in a truck with Ben in the back.

A video plays over the whole town, showing Pilcher, the creator of Wayward Pines. The camera cuts to the Abbies attempting to climb over the fence. Quite the freaky moment to have these monsters wanting to get inside. Rebecca is stopped by guards as they know she is Theo’s wife.

Outside Ben and Theo break free from the truck to run from the horrific Abbies, who appear to be almost in the fence. One of Ben’s men is taken, presumably killed. As much as I hate the Hitler-esque youth, they do know how to take down the vicious creatures. It’s quite entertaining watching them die.

Carrie the leader’s assistant is hurt in the process. I do hope she doesn’t die this early, she seems like an interesting character. Theo is taken back to town because he is the only doctor. He is smart, won’t do a thing until he gets his answers. He is told his answers but flips out thinking it can’t be true.

He does save her and there is a cuteish scene between Carrie and Jason. Theo and Rebecca go back to their home and he is told about the food troubles. Theo of course doesn’t believe anything, and wants to fight it all. Rebecca has been in town for three years!

Our first scene with Djimon Honsou’s character starts and revolves around them trying to get food. CJ as he is called is a brilliant character, someone who doesn’t trust anyone. Theo and Rebecca talk about the past and she kisses him calming him as he is asked for help.

It is clear that he will have a lot to do in this town being the only true doctor. But his lack of trust will make him a liability in their eyes. He is granted an assistant, another character from the past who was against Jason’s group and now needs “tune ups”. A rather creepy idea, seeing as she needs to go under to have them administered.

Rebecca goes into work and Shannon Sossamon’s character Theresa walks in to talk about Ben. But Theo is hardly ready to believe that any of this can be real.  In class the students see an Abbie cadaver, quite freaky to look at.

Theo is then working on a young patient. He hopes he’ll be able to eat more. He is furious that he can’t get the boy a vitamin. Jason comes to him and he rebuffs him saying he is only helping because of his oath. He despises Jason, because he is a tyrannical overlord, he has him in his clutches because Theo is the only one who can do anything medically.

Carrie and Jason talk about Theo and how it is necessary for him to live so he can heal. Jason cries in a weak attempt to look like a character worth caring at all about. But it is clear he loves Carrie so points for that.

Theo is paranoid about everything including his wife. He has no idea what to think about anything. CJ leads his team to gather the food and fight off Abbies. Djimon adds a layer of decorum to the character of CJ.Using fire they fend off the Abbies, and head in to gather food. The tenseness of the scene is amazing, there is an ever present sense of danger, one wrong move in defense and the food burns. Ben appears and runs after the trucks not wanting to die obviously. It definitely isn’t the last we will see of Ben.

Ben apologizes to his mother, and then goes on to assault Jason and his leadership as he is going against the creator Pilcher’s wishes. This moment is beautiful because it shows how strong Ben is and how weak Jason really is. If he loses power he will literally be nothing, and he is terrified that, this is a distinct possibility.

Theresa goes to talk to Jason’s men and ask them about Ben. They throw her out when she explodes like a mother should. But, they decide they’d best go help Ben without talking to the tyrant. The gears of rebellion are slowly beginning to turn.

Another scene between Jason and Carrie with Carrie questioning Jason about Ben and what should be done. But he calms her and tells her she is his. He really is Tyrannical on every level.

As Theresa yells for answers about Ben, Ben is brutally attacked by three Abbies in the cornfield.

The episode ends with Jason and Carrie discovering the Abbies are gone from sight. But one lone Abbie glares at the fence as the episode ends.

Another intense episode filled with character development and action. The introduction of Djimon Honsou is a welcome character in this universe. All in all a solid episode. Can’t wait for next week’s “Once Upon a Time in Wayward Pines,” episode.

Supernatural Fandom Has Wayward Daughters

wayward daughters 1

It began as whispers that blew across The Fandom like a gentle breeze fanning a spark into a glowing ember, but it soon became a raging wildfire that blew like hurricane force winds.  There’s no stopping it now…. and who would want to?  Stop it that is.

Of course, I’m talking about Wayward Daughters.  Like most works of true brilliance, it began as a tiny little idea.  An idea for a spin off of The Show featuring the strong female characters of Sheriff Donna (played by Briana Buckmaster) and Sheriff Jody (played by Kim Rhodes)… but it morphed into so very much more.

The Wayward Daughters Academy, a movement started by fans Riley and Betty (follow them on twitter @WaywardAcademy) included a petition signed by fans asking The CW for the spin off I mentioned.  Now though… it’s so much more.  It’s a movement (from their twitter page) that is Empowering women, supporting girls, uplifting each other and dedicated to furthering positive representation.  They boldly ask you #WhatsYourWayward and encourage you to be #WaywardAF.

The living breathing embodiment of Wayward Daughters… the sexy symbols of the movement…. are BFF’s Kim and Briana who are the best of role models for women everywhere.  I follow both of them on twitter and tumblr… and I get words of encouragement sprinkled with some of my favorite curse words from them both everyday.  I used to say that I loved Kim Rhodes because she said f**k as much as I do.  But, that’s not the only reason.  Along with Briana, she is one of the most inspirational celebrities that I can think of in ….. well…. ever.  And as for Briana’s and Kim’s friendship?  That’s true #RelationshipGoals right there.

Currently, there is a t-shirt campaign going on through Creation Stands, raising money for Random Acts and to build a Free High School in Nicaragua for young women (which is a RandomActs Dreams2Acts initiative).  Check out the campaign here.  And by all means, buy a shirt or bag while you’re there.

Webster defines wayward as:  not going or moving in the intended direction, following no clear principle or law – unpredictable, even ungovernable.

Well then.  There you have it.  By Webster’s definition, I am sooooo #WaywardAF.  And, Kim told me I was last night on tumblr too, so it must be true.  You should all… women everywhere… step out of the box that society has tried to stuff you into for your entire life, define your own space, be your beautiful self, never change to suit someone else.  In short, be #WaywardAF.

Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have to go buy a t-shirt.

Leaked ‘Thor: Ragnarok’ Details Emerge

rsz_ragnarok

So this morning I have found out that 3 unique bits of information have been leaked surrounding the new ‘Thor – Ragnarok’ movie which is also set to feature the return of Mark Ruffalo as The Hulk. It appears that the story arc will also be absorbing some of the Planet Hulk story line and I for one am very pleased about this as I love reading that story arc. So here’s what we found out from from the leaked information from Joblo.

1) We will see some sort of link to the Planet Hulk story arc that ran in comic book form back in 2006 where the ‘Illuminati’ decided that The Hulk was to dangerous to stay on Earth and tricked him into boarding a space craft before being launched into space. They had decided to send him to a peaceful planet in order to live out his remaining days but the ship was diverted and The Hulk ended up crashing landing on Warworld.

rsz_planet-hulk-2010-1-why-a-live-action-planet-hulk-movie-would-be-great-for-marvel-studios-jpeg-60218

Kevin Feige has always insisted that it would not be a bright idea to do a Planet Hulk movie for some strange reason as I for one would love to have seen it he also had this to say on the matter last year when speaking to IGN.

“I think what’s cool about the Planet Hulk story is it’s all Hulk. He’s a gladiator, he’s fighting all these creatures on another world. Yes, some of those creatures show up in [Guardians of the Galaxy], which makes people think, ‘Oh, maybe it could exist.’ And maybe it could exist, someday. I don’t think that’s the first place we would go though for the very reason that you stated, which is, if we were ever able to do a standalone Hulk movie, 60 percent of the fun would be seeing Mark Ruffalo leading a Marvel movie — and that’s what we would do if we ever went down that road.”

In the Planet Hulk story line we see The Hulk become a Gladiator fighting all kinds of creatures from all kinds of different places but the most noticeable person he fights is the Silver Surfer. We also know that Jeff Goldblum is set to play The Grandmaster  in this movie who is a villain who enjoys pitting superheroes against each other so this also adds fuel to the story we will see bits of the Planet Hulk story arc. Joblo have also said that we will even see The Hulk appear in his iconic gladiator armor from the comic books.

rsz_leaked-plot-details-for-thor-ragnarok-including-one-incredible-arc-the-hulk-eventua-998123

2) According to Joblo we also know that Thor is also searching for the ultimate weapon to reset the universe and that his quest will initially see Thor fighting and then teaming up with The Hulk. We are not 100% sure what the weapon will be but they seem to think it may be the Time Gem which will link Thor: Ragnarok to the Infinity Gems plot line that is building up in the Avengers movies. Having possession of this Gem will litteraly allow Thor to control time and reset the universe.

rsz_will-thor-3-ragnarok-set-the-stage-for-avengers-infinity-war-the-infinity-stones-and-w-919853

3) We can also expect to see some majorly dramatic changes in this film according to Joblo’s more random spoilers:

“And speaking of appearances, expect a major change in the look of The God of Thunder himself for this part of the film as he will be sporting a shaved head (but not completely bald) for at least a portion of the film. Also, expect a very different look for Tessa Thompson’s Valkyrie, who is traditionally a blonde-haired warrior type in the comics. For Ragnarok she’ll be wearing war paint on her face, much like a Native American warrior, which should be an interesting take on this variation of the character.”

rsz_tessa-thompson-valkyrie

So there we go I cannot wait for more information on this story line and if these rumors come true this film could be up there with the best in the MCU universe.

Penny Dreadful SN 3 EP 5 – ‘This World Is Our Hell’

Ethan protecting Hecate

Welcome Dreadfuls to my review/recap of This World is Our Hell. As always, this piece contains SPOILERS, so if you have not yet seen it, please go do that first. Then come back and see if you agree with my assessment.

In the last episode, Vanessas’ backstory, and to a lesser extent, John Clare’s backstory and how the two intertwined was examined through the method of her memory as recalled under hypnosis. In keeping with character development through the use of back story, this week’s episode examines the history of Ethan and Kaetenay, their relationship, and his relationship with his biological father. We learn a bit about Hecate and Rusk. We also check in with Victor and Henry to see how they are progressing with their experiment on Balfour (Jamie Ballard), the maniac we first met in Predators Far and Near. Sir Malcom is the recipient of Kaetenays’ story; while Marshall Ostow comes to understand and maybe even respect Rusk through listening to his tale. Hecate employs her not inconsiderable skills to use Ethans’ guilt over his history to persuade him that her Lord is superior to his God.

badlandsThe episode opens in the middle of “The Devil’s Asshole” as Ostow refers to it, aka the New Mexico badlands. It is two days hard travel to Ethans’ father. The Posse is in hot pursuit. The horses are thirsty, but Ethan knows there is a river in a canyon not far ahead. When Ethan and Hecate reach it, the riverbed is dry, and there is no other source of water for days.

Hecate shares how she came to the worship of Lucifer. When she was a child, her mother “enlisted” her. Evelyn Poole watched as Lucifer raked his claws across Hecate’s five-year-old body. She was betrayed by the very person who should have protected her. One gets the shivery impression that Hecate is understating the method of “enlistment”.

Hecate wants to know why Ethan’s father is after him, why he feels so guilty, and what he thinks that the God who created him as Lupus Dei will do for him. He is looking for forgiveness, but as Hecate points out, he doesn’t feel forgiveness from his God. She tells him that the only way for him to be at peace is to embrace his sins. Ethan relates his story. His father enlisted him in the Army, to try to make a man of him. He could have refused, or deserted, but he wanted to make his father proud. His Commanding Officer was a senators’ son, and initially a friend. His platoon came across a band of Apache, camping by this very river, and he took part in the slaughter of tribe, down to the last man, woman and child. The CO proved himself to be a cruel S.O.B., smashing in a childs’ head with a rock, because he wasn’t worth the bullet, and laughing about it. Ethan killed him and rode to the last Apache stronghold to beg their leader, Kaetenay, to take his scalp.

Victor and Balfour

I think that at the risk of disturbing the flow of Ethan’s story, this is the best spot to check in with Victor and Henry. They are in Henrys’ lab in Bedlam, preparing to test the conjunction of electricity with Henry’s serum on Balfour. Balfour is in Bedlam because he, possible Jacobite, dared to try to kill the Queen. We are led to believe he becomes a raving maniac during his time in Bedlam. Although he could have been a raving maniac first, I suppose, and that led him to try to assassinate the Queen. I digress. The man is quite composed, having already been dosed with the serum, but is confused as to what is about to happen to him.

Victor promises Balfour that when they are done, he will have no memory of his crime or this treatment, or even of being in Bedlam. “Every moment that has benighted your life and set you on your dark course, I will take from you. You will re-enter this world an innocent lamb. After all, it is our memories which make us monsters is it not?” He injects Balfour with an electrified dose of Henry’s serum, through the eye socket directly into his brain. A full day later, Balfour is still catatonic, and Henry thinks that Victor may have been a bit excessive with the voltage. In the ensuing conversation, we learn that both Victor and Henry were cast out of Cambridge; Victor because the Dons of Cambridge didn’t approve of his work, and Henry because he assaulted a member of the Faculty.  Henry wonders if Victor would undergo this treatment if he could have every horrific moment struck from his memory – every time that his work was denigrated and he was treated like filth. Victor replies that he would not, and Henry tells him that is the difference between them. Henry wonders if Victor will be able to go through with giving this treatment to Lily, if it works. Victor appears to be unsure about that, but remembers the perfectness of the first few days of Lily’s life. Balfour wakes. He is physically normal, no skin discoloration, no eczema, his eyes track normally. He has no memory of trying to commit regicide and claims to love the Queen. (Scotsman, though, so perhaps not). Victor goes home, where he sniffs Lily’s nightgown, then hangs it above the tub where she was reborn, and gets busy cleaning the lab. He too is physically transformed, no longer looking like the addict he was at the beginning of the season.

Back to Ethan.

As Hecate and Ethan look across the desert later on in the evening, they see the Posse’s campfire. Hecate suggests that whatever the army made him do, whatever the Apache made him do, his God watched it all unfold and laughed. She wants to call creatures of the night, the army beneath the sand to strike down their enemies. Ethan permits it. Hecate begins her ritual, during which she spills Ethans’ blood onto symbols she has drawn in the sand, and recites an incantation. They hear the resulting chaos in the Posses’ camp across the desert. The next day, Ethans’ horse collapses, so he puts it down.

Ethan and Hecate

Later, in a cave that Ethan remembers from his time with the Apache, he translates the paintings on the cave wall for her – the story of the First Apache. Hecate proposes that this may not be the story of the beginning, but a prophesy of the end. And asks him what he sees his role as, the Saviour who ends the darkness, or the Wolf who loves it. He remembers that he and the tribe spent weeks in that cave. They had been hunted to near extinction, but he knew that guns, ammunition and food could be found at his father’s ranch. He told them where the guards would be, and where to find the food and guns. Kaetenay promised him that no shots would be fired. Ethan’s answer to Hecate is that he has annihilated a tribe, betrayed his family, slaughtered women and children and he will send his father to hell and laugh while he’s doing it. He’s done trying to be good. There is a scene that I will leave to your imagination, except to say that while that action is going on, Hecate tells him what he will need to say while killing his father; and promises him that thereafter he will feel no guilt. The following day, the last few drops of water in the canteen are gone, the second horse dies, and they strike out on foot. Eventually Hecate collapses, and Ethan carries her for some way before also collapsing.

We will leave Ethan and Hecate there for a while, and see what Sir Malcom and Kaetenay are up to, and what has happened to the Posse. We will start with Sir Malcolm and Kaetenay.

Episode 305
Sir Malcolm and Kaetenay are some way behind the Posse, but Kaetenay thinks they will catch up by nightfall. This will be a killing pace for the horses, and Sir Malcolm knows it, but Kaetenays’ plan includes obtaining new horses. Malcolm realizes that he intends to kill every member of the Posse. Kaetenay points out that the Posse stands between them and the demon who is even now trying to corrupt Ethans’ soul. He would have no problem killing an army to save Ethan, and will happily give his life to do it. Sir Malcolm is shocked when Kaetenay tells him that Ethan will kill him the first chance he gets. In the evening, close to the Posse and waiting for them to fall asleep, he tells Malcolm the story of Ethan and himself. Ethan wanted to die for what he had done to the tribe, but Kaetenay judged it crueller to make him live. He used Ethan to fight the army that he had served. But Ethan took to it, like a man desperate for redemption. By that time, there were 39 free Apache left in all the world, being hunted by 5000 men. The Apache died man by man, and as they died, the survivors became crueller and did monstrous things.

The men go to sleep. Kaetenay tells Malcolm he will take care of them while Malcolm goes for the horses.

Over at the Posse camp, Ostow asks Rusk how he lost his arm. Rusk tells him during the Boer War, his platoon was chasing an assassin, but were ambushed. He cauterized the wound to his arm, left the survivors behind, and continued to track the assassin. He caught up with the man, dragged him to Cape Town in chains and then reported to the infirmary. They settle for the night. Rusks’ Scotland Yard companion wakes when he hears the horses stirring, and catches Sir Malcolm. While Malcolm is being held at gunpoint, Kaetenay is slitting throats. Masses of rattle snakes emerge from the sand, intent on killing the men. Kaetenay freezes as one snake approaches him and the man he is about to kill. When it is within striking distance, he kills it and the man he is holding with one swipe, but is bitten by a snake that has approached from the side. Men wake up and chaos reigns. Malcolm shoots Rusk’s companion and takes horses. Rusk and Ostow fire from behind some rocks. Malcolm, shooting from the saddle, rescues Kaetenay. They ride off, leaving Rusk and Ostow the only survivors, the rest of the men having been killed either by Kaetenays’ knife, snakes or gunfire. Inspector Rusk, not knowing who caused the deaths for certain but assuming that it was Ethan, vows that he will no longer try to capture Ethan alive, but given the chance, will shoot him in the back and butcher all his kind.

Further into the desert, Sir Malcolm and Kaetenay rest. He refuses Malcolm’s help, saying only that if he dies, he dies. He tells Malcolm that he was not allowed to die when his son abandoned him. Instead, he was given a vision of the world cast into darkness, overrun by animals of the night, and the knowledge that if they lose Ethan to evil, the night will never end.

Malcolm and Ethan
As Ethan is trying to muster some strength, Sir Malcolm and Kaetenay approach, Kaetenay slumped over his horses’ neck. Malcolm gives Ethan water, and Ethan gives some to Hecate. On discovering that Hecate is alive, Malcolm draws his gun. Ethan protects her, while telling Sir Malcolm that he shouldn’t have come. A group of Ethans’ fathers’ men approach and take them into custody, except Kaetenay. His fate is left to Ethan to decide, and Ethan tells them to let him die slow, he’s not worth the bullet. Malcolm protests that they cannot leave him there, but Ethan replies “Let him burn”. Now, I wonder if this is because Ethan truly wants Kaetenay to die slowly? Or is he giving Kaetenay the best chance for survival because he knows that his father will definitely kill the Apache?

Sir Malcolm, now dressed in borrowed clothes, meets with Ethan’s father, Jared Talbot (Brian Cox). Malcolm asks to see both Hecate and Ethan, but is told that they are resting. Watching this scene was very much like watching two dogs circle each other, while they try to decide which is the Alpha. Some civil yet barbed conversation later, Sir Malcolm decides that he doesn’t care for Jared at all. Jared believes the Apache are little better than animals while Sir Malcolm believes they deserve the respect and dignity all humans deserve. Jared implies that Malcolm will die if he tries to come between himself and his son.
Hecate finds Ethan’s bedroom and thanks him for saving her. She reminds him of his plan, and he confirms that he intends to enjoy this reckoning which has been so long coming. Their conversation is interrupted as Ethan is summoned.

Jared

Jared tells Ethan that he is there so Jared can save his soul. Jared begins the story of the night the Apache attacked. Ethan says he was in the stable stealing horses. Jared takes him into the blood stained chapel, where the family made their stand. The Apache made Jared watch while his oldest son was slaughtered, and his wife scalped. They made him watch while Ethans’ sisters’ eyes and tongue were cut out so that she would wander blind and mute through this place of death. She was made to suffer as the Saints suffered. He says “You brought the Devil to my door, and gave him the Key”. Jared demands that Ethan get down on his knees and beg mercy of God, that he repent or he will send Ethan to hell himself. Ethan replies “I am done repenting and I belong in Hell.”.

Fade to Black.

So I would like to point out, in the scene between Jared and Ethan, nowhere did Jared say Ethan’s sister had died. In fact, at one point, he explicitly said that he hoped she would. So there is a question mark in my mind about Ethan’s sister. Alive or dead? Perhaps alive and mentally deranged? Is that what Jared meant when he said she was made to suffer as the Saints suffered?

We now understand how Ethan became an Apache, and why he hates both his biological father and his Apache one. What we still don’t know is how he became Lupus Dei, or indeed how he even became a werewolf. Was he bitten? Is it a genetic inheritance from his father? Are they a family of werewolves? Or did Kaytenae turn him? I believe that Kaytenae will survive his rattler bite because I do not believe his part is yet done. If Ostow and Rusk catch up with Ethan while he is at his fathers’ ranch, they will die at Jared’s hands, I am convinced. I think that the scenes between Victor and Henry were not germane to this episode at all, and were included merely to remind us that Victor and Henry are still working on their joint project, and to show us that physically at least, Victor is recovering from his drug addiction, now that he has purpose again.

What did you think of this episode? Did you enjoy it? Hate it? Are you meh about it? Let me know.
Here’s a sneak peek of next weeks’ episode.

Rick And Morty SN1 EP1 – ‘Pilot’

22881Rick and Morty, two of greatest cartoon characters in a good long while. The awkward stumbling Morty and the genius psychopath Rick. Ever since the premiere episode fans have enjoyed 2 seasons of space traveling insanity.

The Pilot episode introduces us to our main characters Rick and Morty. Morty being the grandson and Rick being the grandfather. After Rick’s miraculous return, Morty instantly gloms onto the idea of traveling and spending time with Rick. I mean who wouldn’t want to do crazy things in space with a mad man?

The funny thing about this show is that it doesn’t really follow any rules of television. It does it’s own thing and the comedy falls out from that. Rick drunkenly wakes up dear Morty from his sleep, and says he’ll blow everything up and start fresh. Morty awkwardly worries why he’d do this but seems to accept it. This opening scene shows off the relationship between the two without ever explicitly saying what it is.

Though the bomb is never brought up again throughout the whole episode. You are also introduced to Jerry Morty’s stupid father, Beth, Jerry’s nice mom, and Summer his elder sister. They are troubled by Rick taking Morty out of school.

Rick’s thoughts about school are pretty hilarious. Especially since as soon as Morty goes to school Rick’s thoughts are true. Morty then has a dream about his crush Jessica but is actually interacting with his teacher.  It is rather creepy that his teacher is a little to into this, as he lets Morty do it for another five minutes.

Rick charges in and takes Morty out of school in his normal manner, and bullies him into coming with him. He can’t help but just do all he can to get his own way. But he is also deep, which he really isn’t in other episodes. Far funnier for him to just be a terrible person.

Morty ends up breaking his legs, when Rick doesn’t tell him to turn on his gravity boots. Rick travels into the future and grabs a special serum to heal his grandson. Hilariously saying that in this future there are no old people so he was able to have tons of fun with young women. I guess everyone has somewhere they could belong.

Morty hasn’t been staying in school because of Rick and is in trouble with his principal. Pushing the mega seeds up inside of his butt they try to travel home. This show loves to undermine its characters, as soon as the seeds are up butt he is chosen for a special check. Of course acting like an idiot and running is in fact the right thing to do.

An epic chase scene occurs, as they run through the spaceport.Quite the episode highlight, in my humble opinion. I enjoy seeing Morty learning and growing since he is so stupid. It is rather humorous that he actually might learn some real things with this crazy drunk.

Landing back at school Morty gains the favor of Jessica. As they try to move Rick out, Morty ingests the mega seed showing off an intense intelligence. In the final moment he spasms uncontrollably as the mega seed loses its power.

His parents still annoyed decide to let Rick stay even though they were right all along. Rick then goes on a semi fourth wall break, as he knows full well that he is in a Television show. The wit of this makes him seem far more real, he acts like he has control but he knows full well all his whims are at the bidding of some outside force. He doesn’t believe in God, but he believes in this force, and it is clear by his final outburst.

All in all this is a good first episode.  A brief introduction to a strange family.  I did enjoy seeing these characters two very different characters try to work things out and get out of trouble. Though seeing that this is the pilot, the characters are definitely not as great as they are in the real first episode. I will endeavor to finish reviewing the series in a lead up to its fantastic return later this year.

Jeff Bridges Added To The Cast For ‘Kingsman: The Golden Circle’

Jeff Bridges has joined the all-star cast for Kingsman: The Golden Circle.

The actor announced his inclusion in the highly anticipated sequel to Kingsman: The Secret Service via his Twitter on Saturday.

His tweet indicates he’ll most likely be on the side of the Kingsman rather than the illusive Golden Circle organisation. Not that we know much about where these sides lie at the moment.

What we do know so far is the movie will feature Taron Egerton returning as Eggsy, Mark Strong returning as Merlin, and Sophie Cookson reprising her role as Roxy/Lancelot. The movie will also star Halle Berry, Julianne Moore, Channing Tatum, Pedro Pascal and Elton John. There’s also strong rumours that Colin Firth will be returning to reprise his role as Harry Hart, a rumour fans are strongly hoping is true given Hart’s fate in Kingsman: The Secret Service.

We also know that the Kingsman will be heading to the US to meet their American counterparts, the Statesman, after criminal Poppy (Julianne Moore) destroys Kingsman HQ.

Overall, it looks like Kingsman: The Golden Circle is due to be as delightfully mad and violent as it’s predecessor, and fans have a lot to look forward to this time around.

Pinheads Episode 2 – Charlie

Pinheads follows the misadventures of radio station employees – awkward metal-head Charlie, egocentric Steven and laid back glutton Brian – as they hang out at the bowling alley managed by lunatic Bernie and his neurotic son Kenny.

In this episode, the gang becomes convinced that Charlie has been impregnated.
