Michael Keaton Back In Talks To Star In ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’

After initial talks didn’t get past the offer stage, Michael Keaton is now in final negotiations to take on a villain role in Spider-Man: Homecoming.

Whilst the role hasn’t been confirmed, and Sony and Marvel are keeping their usual tight lid on these things, there’s a lot of speculation that he’ll be staring as the Vulture, one of Spider-Man’s most popular and recurring villains.

Spiderman: Homecoming is a reboot of the Spider-Man franchise – however, this time Sony will be partnering with Marvel to produce it. Amy Pascal and Marvel’s Kevin Feige will be producing, and Jon Watts will be sitting in the directors chair.

Tom Holland will be starring at Peter Parker/Spider-Man. He made his debut in the role during Captain America: Civil War, which has had an amazingly positive reception, and has just passed $1m at the global box office.

CBS Plans ‘MacGyver’ Reboot For Fall

MacGyver-logo

I learned about this on Thursday, and I’ve been silently fuming ever since.  If you haven’t watched the trailer for the new show yet, you can watch it below.  Go ahead… go watch it and come back.  I’ll wait.

Waiting…

OK, now that we’re all on the same page… What in the hell is CBS smoking?  I watched the original series when I was a kid.  I loved it!  I had a huge crush on Richard Dean Anderson… so much so that when he played Col. Jack O’Neill on Stargate: SG1, I watched it too.  I recently binged watched them both again on Hulu.  Ya know, just for nostalgia reasons.  Yeah, that’s totally why.

Why mess with a good thing?

And, why in the hell can’t anyone in the entertainment business come up with an original idea now days?  It’s all reboot this and remake that.  Oh, and when they do have a new and original idea they all suck!

If you’re going to reboot a series that deserved better than what it got, then d@mmit give us that Firefly reboot that we’ve been begging for since 2003!

The premise of this story is that a young MacGyver (played by Lucas Till, X-Men franchise) joins his deceased father’s best friend and partner, Lincoln (played by George Eads, CSI) and they form the Phoenix Foundation.  If you’ll remember from the original series, that’s the place that MacGyver worked.  However, what the makers of this reboot forgot is that the show didn’t start out with Mac working for Phoenix.  He originally worked for some unknown agency that they hinted was the CIA or some other acronym agency… then Pete Thornton (his friend) talked him into going to work for the Phoenix Foundation.  Mac didn’t start it… he just worked there. (I only remember all of this from my recent binge watching activity that was all for science.  Honest.)  Maybe the big wigs at CBS should’ve done some binge watching of their own.

Worst of all?  Richard Dean Anderson isn’t even involved in this one.  He IS MacGyver.

mcgyver

I can see a slight resemblance, but the kid is still no RDA.  The only thing that might save this version is that Executive Producer, Henry Winkler (who was also the EP on the original)… yes, The Fonz… is going to be steering the ship.

I didn’t get to watch  with Lucy this time.  I was late getting home on Friday night and she’d already watched without me.  So when I talked to her on Friday night, the first words out of her mouth were, “Have you watched it yet?”.  I told her that I hadn’t, so being the good friend that she is, she told me that she wouldn’t give me any spoilers, but that she hadn’t been impressed.  After watching it, I had to agree with Lucy.

Oh, don’t get me wrong… it had it’s tense and emotional moments, but overall it just left me saying… “meh”.

To be honest, last week’s episode would’ve made a better cliffhanging finale.  I was so d@mn excited to see Rebekah (Claire Holt) in the previews for this episode last week that I may have built my expectations way too high.

Klaus’ sacrifice was quite unexpected and very emotional.  It reminded me slightly of The Winchester Brothers, Dean in particular, who always feel the need to sacrifice themselves for the greater good.  But, it shows the growth in this character.  In the past, Klaus would’ve fought to save one of his siblings…. would have killed for them, but I doubt he would’ve been willing to die for them.  However, Hope is an entirely different story.  Becoming a parent will do that to you.  It changes your perspective on everything.  Klaus has grown as a … well… I was going to say person, but since he’s not human….hmmm…. man (that’s a safe one) since becoming a father.  It’s made him downright lovable.  Don’t get me wrong, he was always likable even when he was a villain, and he’s always been hotter than my grandma’s homemade salsa.  But now, I’m invested in what happens to him, and that’s the mark of a great character and a great actor.  Joseph Morgan has taken Klaus from likable villain to lovable dad.  And, that’s the remarkable part about this episode.

Don’t get me wrong.  This wasn’t a bad episode per se … it just wasn’t the big spank-my-ass-pull-my-hair-and-tell-me-I’m-a-bad-girl finale that I was expecting.

But, I knew they were going to have to do something to jump the story line at least 3 years forward, because they gave us a clue in The Vampire Diaries.  Remember?  When Caroline said she had went to New Orleans looking for help from Klaus and he was nowhere to be found.  She had taken the twins and run to Louisiana and hadn’t found the help she’d been seeking.  Well, now we know it’s because he’s behind a brick wall with Cami’s dark object knife buried in his chest and the rest of his family is sleeping in coffins with their minds in some sort of magical time out while Hayley searches for a way to cure them all.  To be honest, I’m thinking that Elijah and Kol are going to be ready to kill each other for reals when they finally wake up.

BT-dubbs, remember what I said a few reviews ago?  That they’d finally given us Haylijah which meant one of them was probably going to die.  Well, I’m not one to tell you, “I told you so,” buuuuttttt……..

Hopefully, the season premier in the fall will gimme that whole hair pulling thing I was talking about earlier and make me want the cigarette that I was hoping I’d need after this finale.

The one I didn’t really need that is.

A Review Of X-Men Apocalypse

en-sabah-nur-apocalypse-x-men-apocalypse

Days of Future Past was an X-men movie that basically reboot the entire X-men universe through an awesome time travel plot that was insanely heartfelt and inspiring (I remember leaving the cinema all teary eyed with the general feeling that everything is possible). In other words, it is a given that any follow up to this film would be an awesome re-introduction to the newly re-created X-men universe. And the Apocalypse trailers did show a LOT of promise, I mean it is only fitting that a universe gets destroyed right after it is created!

However, Apocalypse, with all his might, did not have the power to live up to my expectations. [Read more…]

Sausage Party Trailer Released

Sausage_Party

Let me set the scene for you. Imagine your busy hanging out with your best buds, waiting to get picked; and when you do get picked you get paired with your ideal woman. Now this isn’t to gain entry to an exclusive nightclub or for a sports team. You’re a sausage and your ideal woman is a bun. Yes you read that right!

Sausage Party is a a film detailing a sausage named Frank (Seth Rogen) who lives in a fictional supermarket called ‘Shopwell’s’. Frank’s life is peaceful, he hangs out with his friends, where their ultimate goal is to get noticed and picked by a customer.

To Frank’s delight him and his friends get picked and they are taken to their new home! Frank and co. are happy as they are about to enter sausage nirvana (yes sausage nirvana), that is until they discover the truth about their existence.

What awaits them is grizzily torture, ultimately followed by death. Frank even witnesses some of his friends being cooked alive, the horror! With the help of his friends, and his hot dog bun love interest Brenda (Kristen Wiig), they embark on a dangerous adventure to escape their fate.

Joining Frank and Brenda on thier escape to freedom is fellow sausages Carl (Jonah Hill), Barry (Michael Cera) and Troy (Anders Holm). Along the way they meet Theresa the Taco (Salma Hayek) and Sammy Bagel Jr. (Edward Norton). With Paul Rudd. James Franco and Danny McBride also joining in the action I for one am curious to see how Frank and the gang are going to get to freedom!

As I watched this film I went through a roller coaster of emotions. Firstly thinking oh no not another animated film. I mean come on how many CGI films do we have to have these days. Not only that, but the plot was about groceries. What next a film about a pack of cards, oh wait The Simpsons already did that.

Then as the film progressed, I went to aww this is kinda cute actually, look at those little sausages all they want to do is get bought and live happily ever after. Except this isn’t a kids film and this isn’t a happy ever after.

After the initial shock of seeing a poor potato skinned alive and baby carrots eaten before they could reach adulthood. I even got a lil too emotionally attached and may have even shed a tear. As I sat down to eat my tea, I was thinking, what had I done to those poor peas boiling them alive.

Then the reality set in, I wasn’t watching a trailer about a film for kids, this was a film for adults and a ****** funny one too. Everything about this film tells me it’s going be a huge success.  It reminds me of Team America when they adultersized (yes I made that word up), the puppet world, this could be the surprise hit of the year.

I for one will be cheering Frank the sausage on to freedom. FREE THE SAUSAGE!!!

Sausage Party is in cinemas from August 12, 2016.

WARNING – If you are a wimp like me, look away now otherwise you may too cry over a potato or baby carrot!

He has taken over as preacher for his deceased father’s church – however, he’s torn between his desire to be a good man and to commit to his faith, and between his dark and violent past.

Earlier this week I thought that having to recap 5 Orphan Black episodes in one go was going to be challenging. With the release of episode 6, and having to recap the mind-blowing and emotional events of the episode made me wish I could write something that easy again…

A lot has happened in this episode, a trade, some science stuffs, a kidnapping/murder, a flashback, and a LOT of tears. So let’s begin shall we! [Read more…]

The Walking Dead Attraction – Universal Studios

There is no arguing that The Walking Dead is one of the most popular serial dramas of recent times and a serious money-spinner for AMC.

Never before has a tv show been able to capture the possible reality of a post-apocaplytic world ravaged by zombies and the struggle to survive – both the alive and the dead.

With it’s popularity not looking to wain any time soon (off the back of a stunning sixth series that ended on the ultimate cliffhanger!!) AMC have teamed up with Universal Studios to bring the 2D world to life with a new horror maze.

TWD-landing-page-running_961x421

The concept is simple, you enter the world of The Walking Dead and your mission is to survive. It sounds just like any other horror maze that you might encounter, but the difference with this one is that it has been designed to be as authentic to the tv show as it can be. This new obsession for anyone who loves AMC’s most popular show has been designed and developed in full consultation with Greg Nicotero (effects and make-up extraordinaire on the show) with the express aim of bringing your worst nightmare from the television screen to the real world.

Greg had this to say about the attraction:

“After six years of working on The Walking Dead, we have a great opportunity to take The Walking Dead out of the studio, off the soundstage and into an attraction at Universal Studios Hollywood where guests can come face-to-face with walkers,” said Nicotero.

He continued, “It’s very exciting to be able to make the attraction as 100 percent authentic as possible. We’re getting the chance to utilize molds that were created specifically for the show and translate them into parts of the attraction. We’re creating animatronic walkers that guests will be able to see… it’s never been done before… it’s one-of-a-kind, state-of-the-art… and I can’t wait.”

The attraction will be open all year round, so its not one of these ‘special edition’ attractions that is open for three months and then closes to universal disdain. You can experience this WHENEVER you want!! I’m booking my plane ticket to California already!

‘Baywatch’ Reboot Finishes Filming

rsz_landscape-1456221042-dwayne-johnson-zac-efron-baywatch-first-look.jpg

So the Baywatch reboot filming has finally come to an end and is set for release to the big screen in May 2017. You may or may  not have been aware that this was in the works but if you follow Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson’s instagram profile like me then you would be fully aware that this has been in the works.

Fans of the old Baywatch are not exactly thrilled about the reboot of the famous lifeguard TV series being rebooted but Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson sure is hell is happy about the reboot. “It has been an amazing experience. I mean, we have been working days, working nights, in the ocean, out of the ocean, the sharks, the octopuses stuff… all that kind of stuff, it’s been amazing,”this straight from his instagram account.

Then “Aside from us making one hell of a movie, the greatest part is I had the opportunity and privilege to work with the greatest crew in Hollywood.” Could this finally be a reboot that I can get behind and enjoy lets wait and see. The cast includes The Rock himself, Zac Efron and Alexandra Daddario and Kelly Rohrbach as Summer Quinn and C.J. Parker. We also see the return of Pamela Anderson and David Hasselhoff but not as lead characters this even thought Anderson originally saying she wanted nothing to do with it “I kind of want to leave it as is and be remembered for that. I don’t know if I wanna go on Baywatch and be like, the old lady working at a counter somewhere,” but as we see she must of had a change of heart.

Here is a link to The Rocks Instagram post once filming had finished https://www.instagram.com/p/BFkmOL2Ih_B/?hl=en

So we will have to wait for the trailer before we can judge if this is going to be a winner or a disaster better left at sea.
