Mark Ruffalo Finishes Shooting Thor:Ragnarok And Shares Set Pictures

So Mark Ruffalo has confirmed via his Instagram account that he is already done shooting his part for Thor:Ragnarok and he even treated us to some on set images to keep the appetite going for what has been touted as the biggest Thor movie yet and by some possibly the biggest film in Marvel history to date.

schermata-2016-08-03-alle-14-21-55

We also get to see Thor (Chris Hemsworth) with his new short hairstyle in the next image taking some time out from filming to spend some time with Ruffalo in what looks like the make-up trailer.

ruffalo-ragnarok-3

We then get a better look at the new hair style with Hemsworth having a chat with what I’m guessing is his stunt double judging by the similar look to pair have.

Co8lWBEUAAAzkJD

The next image we get is of Ruffalo clashing heads with the mighty Hulk the only reason I can think that Ruffalo would be done shooting his parts already would be due to the movie containing more Hulk than Banner.

hulk

The final image we are treated to is of Ruffalo having some fun whilst wearing a Kimono and a face mask and a motion capture suit which will be used as a reference post production to replace Ruffalo with a fully rendered Hulk.

thor3-ruffalodone-pic01

We know the movie is set to be an intergalactic buddy road movie with Thor and The Hulk traveling through the nine realms to try and stop Ragnarok (The Norse Apocalypse). So this also makes me think how can he really be done filming all his parts? So maybe he has just finished filming his parts in Australia as we know this is where the sets for Asgard are being made only time will tell.

What I do know is the more I see and hear about this film the more excited I get as it looks to be shaping up to be an absolute winner.

As always for all your Thor:Ragnarok updates stick with @Deadpool_1984 only at skatronixxx.com.

Kill Or Be Killed #1 Review

KOBK_1

If you had any doubt about the quality of this new book by the super team of Ed Brubaker and Sean Phillips (as well as Elizabeth Breitweiser) let me assure you, you want to pick up this comic.

Kill or be killed is a story about Dylan a young man who is forced to kill bad people, and how he struggles to keep his secret as it gradually ruins his life and the lives of his friends and family.

This is not your typical vigilantly story. Many people were under the impression when the book was announced that this would follow the lines of Marvel’s Punisher, despite Ed Brubaker saying multiple times that it is nothing like the Punisher. Don’t worry I’m not going to spoil anything for you.

From the first page, you get a taste of the violence and gore as Dylan unleashes harsh justice on evil men. Dylan being the narrating voice of the story then quickly brings you back to how it all started for him. Dylan is a down on his luck young adult that doesn’t have much going for him and is a bit of a loser. Dylan is a person who lacks confidence when faced with trials that test his courage and abilities. He also goes through relationship issues and friction, depression and multiple suicide attempts. During one of his attempts, something happens to him that changes his life forever. You get to see quite a progression and range of emotions in just one issue.

killorbekilled01-review3

I enjoy the fact that there’s no filler in Ed Brubaker’s writing. Every dialogue box and word bubble feel necessary. He even breaks the fourth wall a little bit which is done tastefully. Ed is defiantly making this book relevant to the times we are living in today. He references police shooting unarmed black kids; the farce that is the 2016 presidential race, mass shootings, terrorist attacks, the tension in the Middle East, and generally how totally screwed up and dark the world is today. It will be interesting to see if any of these social commentaries continue throughout the book and how they will play out.

Sean Phillips art is once again fantastic. He manages a style that’s like a painting come to life with comic book undertones and that trademark noir feeling.

Elizabeth Breitweiser’s colours complimented Sean art perfectly. I felt she used right range, of colour and tones and the shadowing was great.

This may or may not be something important to you, or just something you never thought of, but the page quality of this comic is excellent. It’s thick, good quality paper. Why is this important you ask? It’s important to point out that the big 2 (i will give DC credit for its improvement in quality for it rebirth line) who are multi-billion dollar companies use garbage quality paper for print. Nothing is worse than reading a comic that can rip while reading when you accidently sneeze let alone just turning the page. You’re also paying more for less generally regarding content.

My point is the price you pay for the big two you should be getting the quality paper that Kill or be Killed is printed on, but you don’t. It’s just a pet peeve of mine I’m sure this is the last time you will see me write about this (i make no promises)

If you pre-ordered this comic then great job! If you have not picked it up, I suggest doing it quickly because Ed and Sean’s books have a healthy habit of selling out quick (at least of the first printing, there’s usually 2nd or 3rd printings but first is what you want). Go to your local comic shop now, or if your content with digital go to comixology, purchase and read right now.

I tried to find something negative about this comic (it’s rare for me not to find something ) but I just couldn’t this is how you do a #1 issue start off with some great action then set up the story to hook you in for issue 2,3,4,5, until then end.

Kill or be Killed #1 was my most anticipated comic of the summer, and it does not disappoint.

Jeremy Renner has “Some Really Cool Ideas” for Hawkeye in the Future

Friday 29th July – Sunday 31st July 2016 were the official dates of one of London’s biggest and most anticipated conventions – London Film and Comic Con. The Con has played host to some massive names in both the comic book and movie world, and this year was no different, with guests such as various members of the Game of Thrones cast, Famke Janssen (How to Get Away with Murder, X-Men, Hemlock Grove), Jeremy Renner (Thor, The Hurt Locker, Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol) and several wrestlers, artists and tv/movie stars.

LFCC Logo.png

This Saturday featured a panel for Jeremy Renner, with a brief introduction and a few questions from the host – then the rest of the panel was taken to the floor for fan questions.

During these questions, Renner said that he still doesn’t consider himself an action hero. Despite his role as an avenger in the Marvel Studios releases, and his role in a Bourne movie (The Bourne Legacy), Renner says he always prefers the human side of his roles, and doesn’t focus on the action side of things. He then jokingly adds that he agreed to the role of Hawkeye because “he doesn’t fly around, have a suit, armour or lightening arrow – he has no friggin’ superpowers! I can do that!”

HAwkeye

Upon being asked the question, would he consider a Bourne crossover with Matt Damon, Renner nodded eagerly and said he’d absolutely love to – but that unfortunately, a decision like this is out of his pay grade.

He also emphasised (when asked if he’s pressured by agents or producers to take particular roles) “I do what I wanna do, always.” He also mentioned that he has no favourite roles he’s ever played as he doesn’t believe in it. Renner says that every role is his favourite role (“or I wouldn’t have taken the job.)

RennerPanel1

When Jeremy was asked what his most difficult role to play was, he answers without hesitation that it was Jeffery Dahmer (Dahmer, 2002). “It was completely terrifying.” He says, talking sincerely about how difficult it was to get into that sort of headspace when he himself can barely comprehend the horrific crimes that Dahmer committed. He mentions how he worked incredibly hard to find a “way in” to that role, into that human’s headspace, and how he had to find the psychological way in to play him convincingly. And it certainly worked – the film holds mostly mixed to positive reviews, praising Renner for his performance.

On the topic of weirdness, Renner also explains that his strangest fan encounter (“It’s like picking a favourite role. I have a lot of these odd experiences.”) took place at a urinal – involving the person trying to take a selfie with them both at the urinal, and saying “But it’s for my son man!” – Renner says that the statement made the whole thing weirder. So he began using cubicles instead to try and retain privacy, which doesn’t always work. “I see this hand, coming up under the cubicle door, with an iPhone in it. And man.” Renner laughs, all good natured and lively.

RennerPanel2

A fan then puts their hand up and asks which life he’d prefer his character in The Avengers to live – the stay-at-home family man, or as the hero? Jeremy pauses, then grins and goes “Did you just ask me how I wanna die?” As the crowd laughs, Renner cuts in with “Dies a hero or daddy has a heart attack at home? Come on man!” – and then he says he hasn’t seen Captain America: Civil War yet and asks”Do I die in that?”

Renner then goes on to say that he loves playing Hawkeye, and confesses to the crowd that his role in the first Avenger’s movie (The Avengers/Avenges Assemble), actually made him incredible frustrated. “I was so excited to play this character and then he gets made into a lifeless zombie for the whole movie” – as a result of this, Renner had barely any room to find out more about Clint Barton. He says he prefers the later movies, such as Age of Ultron and Captain America: Civil War as he had much more screen-time and humanity to explore for the character.

RennerPanel3

The actor then laughs and says he isn’t done playing Hawkeye yet, so he doesn’t want him to die – he’s got “some real cool, real awesome” ideas coming up (earning a round of applause) – “amazing ways to die.” he quips, nodding to the fan who asked the initial question.

Asked if there’s any chance of a Hawkeye solo movie, Renner responds “it’d be kinda cool – but I don’t make those decisions” – sorry, Hawkeye fans! But maybe a Netflix series..?

Renner is asked more questions about his creative future. When asked if he always wants to just be an actor, or if he’d like to direct, Renner nods very eagerly. He explains he’d love to direct a movie – but when his baby (Ava Berlin) is older. His reason being it’s a huge commitment – that you have to be there “before, during the whole process, there for editing and the cutting room floor, and then all the press and premieres after” – and he wants to wait because his baby comes first.

Finally, the last question of the day is a fan who asks what we’re all waiting for – what more do we have to look forward to from Jeremy Renner? The actor responds that he’s currently working on a science-fiction movie with Amy Adams (Enchanted, American Hustle, Man of Steel) named Arrival. He explains it should be coming out in November, and that it’s a smart, thoughtful and very accessible alien movie, and that he’s very excited for the release.

AmyAdams
Overall, it was a very informative and fun panel – despite doing hours worth of photo-shoots with fans in the morning and the afternoon, Jeremy Renner remains active, engaging and totally polite to his fans. He’s been a fantastic addition to the weekend line-up, and fingers crossed he comes back for another year!

Spider-Man: Homecoming, Villan Announced!

Marvel has revealed some news about Spider-Man: Homecoming that isn’t casting news – finally.

HomecomingLogo

At San Diego Comic-Con this weekend, Marvel finally let fans know who the villain of their latest Spider-Man franchise will be, and they revealed it’ll be The Vulture himself.

spider-man-homecoming-vulture-concept-art-meinerding-d5c90

There were always strong rumours about The Vulture appearing, and that he would be portrayed by Michael Keaton (Birdman, Need for Speed, Batman Returns – 1992), however, these rumours were never confirmed. But with the release of some stunning concept art, we can safely say one and for all that The Vulture is coming.

Vulture

In the released concept art, you can very clearly see Spidey facing the Vulture – and you can also see he won’t be sporting his usual neon green gown. Instead, what we’re looking as is a dark green, high tech suit, with massive mechanical wings and wicked metal talons.

Those who were lucky enough to see the trailer they release at SDCC this year have also eagerly confirmed that the concept art is accurate to his brief appearance in said trailer.

Spiderman SDCC

Rumours do speculate that Vulture’s flight suit is based on technology left behind by the Chitaru after the infamous Battle of New York between Loki’s army and The Avengers in The Avengers/Avengers Assemble. Looking at the construction of the wings in the image, it is not a stretch at all to assume this would be true.

This also lends itself to another rumour that’s been going around – whilst we’re all aware of the rumours that some of the cast are supposedly going to be villains, and one will supposedly be The Tinkerer – this would make plenty of sense as he could A) build the flight suit, and B) The Vulture originally enlists The Tinkerer’s skills in the original comics aswell.

TheTinkerer

Overall, Spider-Man: Homecoming looks like it’s to be the hit of the summer, with a blend of heavy-hitting fight scenes and teenage perils of homework and high school that will create the Spider-Man movie fans have been begging for. The official synopsis reads;

“A young Peter Parker/Spider-Man (Tom Holland (Captain America: Civil War, Billy Elliot: The Musical Live, In The Heart of the Sea)), who made his sensational debut in Marvel Studios’ Captain: Civil War, begins to navigate his newfound identity as the web-slinging superhero in Spider-Man: Homecoming.”

SpidermanTomHolland

Spider-Man: Homecoming is due for release on 7th July 2017, and will star Tom Holland, Robert Downey. Jr (Iron Man, The Judge, Charlie Bartlett), Zendaya, (Shake it Up!, Zapped, Frenemies) Marisa Tomei (The Wrestler, What Women Want, Empire)and many. Many. Many. MANY more.

Will The Flash Appear In Suicide Squad?

ezra-miller-flash-ripped

The Suicide Squad is made up of some of the greatest villains known to DC and most belong to Batman (honesty, I think the most popular ones everyone knows are Batman villains…) Yet there is one bad guy, Captain Boomerang, that fights mainly our super speedy, red-suited crusader… So you cant help but wonder: does this mean we may see a blur of The Flash in the film like we get to of the Dark Knight? (TINGLES!)

captain-boomerang-suicide-squad-1jpg-b8a31b1280wjpg-c735f8_765w.jpg

So there were some rumors that The Flash may make a “quick” appearance in the movie, considering one of the villains, and it seems this rumor is true. At the recent San Diego Comic Con, they showed a preview of the movie, showing the origins of Captain Boomerang and there is a scene where he is robbing a bank. In this scene we see a flash of lightning, much like we would see in the TV series when Flash arrives on the scene. OOOOOOH!!!! Also, EZra Miller is rumored to play the roll of the scarlet speedster.

The Flash…maybe???

Goodness, Justice League and The Suicide Squad… Now I know more people love the Marvel universe more than DC. But this girl is more DC than Marvel simply because I grew up being in love with Superman. (My first crush was Christopher Reeve…) No guessing my age guys J So this is so exciting!! And I love crossovers. Being into comics and the like, we see there are infinite possibilities out there with other worlds and interchangeable story lines. GAAAAH luv luv luv. Can’t wait to see what other surprises may be in store for us with the DC universe and movies ^_^

Surtur Confirmed For Thor Ragnarok

So this weekend it has been confirmed that Surtur has is to appear in Thor: Ragnarok people lucky enough to be at SDCC sat in Hall C were also treated to a new retro looking logo for the film and a first look at the Hulk gladiator armor .

This next installment of the Thor movies looks set to be the biggest film in the Thor series yet some are saying it could even be the best Marvel film to be released yet (No pressure there then).

The film will include elements of Planet Hulk as well as including such characters as Hela, The Grand Master and Loki.

Thor: Ragnarok is set to be released on the 27th October 2017 and I cannot wait to see if this film lives up to all the hype surrounding it.

It’s Official! Brie Larson Is Captain Marvel!

rsz_brie-larson-captain-marvel

Oscar-winning actress Brie Larson has been officially announced as Captain Marvel in the MCU. The ‘Captain Marvel’ film will hit theatres March 8th 2019 and will be Marvel Studios first solo female superhero film (FINALLY!). Brie was rumoured to be the frontrunner for the role and was officially confirmed at the San Diego Comic Con 2016 at Marvel’s Hall H panel, where she joined Kevin Feige and the cast of Doctor Strange, Black Panther, GOTG Vol. 2 and Spider-man: Homecoming. She also made the announcement on twitter in a photo wearing a Marvel Studios cap saying ‘Call me Captain Marvel.’

rsz_brie_larson_captain_marvel

Captain Marvel aka Carol Danvers is one of Marvel’s most popular female superheroes. In the comics, Carol Danvers is an air force pilot, who after an accident is exposed to alien DNA and gains powers. She’s had a variety of abilities, such as super-strength, flight and energy projection, but we do not yet know which powers she will have in the movie version.

Brie has previously starred in Room, Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, 21 Jump Street and The Spectacular Now. She is currently at SDCC promoting her upcoming film Kong: Skull Island, which also stars Marvel’s Tom Hiddleston (Loki).

If they follow the pattern of previous Marvel characters, we can expect to see a Captain Marvel cameo in an earlier film or post credits scene, she may make her debut in Avengers: Infinity War. Currently, no director has been announced, but its rumoured that Marvel Studios are looking for a female director.

Let us know your thoughts on this casting choice, do you think Brie Larson will make a good Captain Marvel? Skatronixxx.com will keep you updated on all the latest news to come out of SDCC.

Ghost Rider Confirmed For Agents Of Shield Season 4

Agents-of-SHIELD-Season-4-Ghost-Rider-Vengeance

Yes it’s true! To quote Olympian and all round American hero Kurt Angle ‘it’s true, it’s DAMN true’. Ghost Rider is back and what’s more he’s bringing his badass biker jacket and even more badass chain and is headed to hit Marvel show Agents Of Shield.

Who will be playing the hard rocking, motor biking hero with a quest for vengeance, well this will be none other than DARYL DIXON WOOOOOO *dances*; ok sorry sadly no, despite the strong rumours the role has actually gone to none other than Gabriel Luna (True Detective, Matador).

The news was confirmed by Marvel at their recent panel at San Diego Comic Con today, you can read more on the official announcement on Marvel’s own website here. How will he fit into the show? Will he get his own spin off? I for one am curious to see how this pans out!

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 4 premieres on September 20, 2016.

Batman Vs. Superman: Ultimate Edition – An Ultimate Review

wonder-woman-movie-2017-gal-gadot-images.jpg

I’m going to go out on a limb and say that I really enjoyed the theatrical release of Batman vs Superman. I’ll go further out on that limb and say that it’s one of the best comic book movies so far. And sure you can go on and say how it’s inferior to Marvel movies and so on and so forth, but the only thing I will comment on the whole Marvel vs. DC thing is this. Marvel is doing action movies based on comic book characters while DC with BvS did an actual comic book movie.

So they are two very different animals and I’m not going to say that one is better than the other. Although I did enjoy the actual comic book movie than the ones that have been based on comic book characters. To support my point I would like someone to name a story arc or even a single issue of a Marvel comic that has been used in the MCU, and Civil War doesn’t count because they only used the name of that story arc. While DC used at least by my count 4 different comic book story arcs in one movie, and almost a direct comic panel to screen transition.

Now on to the Ultimate Edition of BvS. This cut of the movie made a good movie into a better movie. Most of the additional scenes added a lot to defining character motives and to strengthening the plot as well. You can take the UE version of this film and edit it down to a 2 1/2 maybe even a 2 hour and 45 minute run time and keep the relevant scenes that would have made the movie more coherent and also maintain the PG-13 rating.

So whoever did the editing on the theatrical release needs to be fired if they had all this good material to work with and yet still ended up releasing an unevenly paced movie. Another head scratcher is the R rating the UE receives. The only thing I noticed was that in the action sequences that involved guns you could see blood spurt out of the bodies and Wally, the guy who loses his legs in the battle of Metropolis, uses the F word when he finds Lex in his apartment. The added “gore” of the gun battles and the F word could be easily edited out and presto you retain your PG-13 rating.

Although in the new X-Men movies they’ve so far used the one free F bomb a PG-13 movie is allotted and Wolverine’s battle scenes have been pretty bloody as well and yet they get a PG-13 tag. I think this can be blamed on trying to ride the coat tails of Deadpool. When Deadpool blew the roof and expectations on what a success an R rated comic book movie can be there were several moves made to try to make comic book movies look even more edgy by slapping an R rating on them. The next and possibly last, with Hugh Jackman at least, Wolverine movie is reportedly going to be rated R. And the UE cut of BvS was announced around that time with, shocker, an R rating as well.

Aside from the added “gore” and “language” the UE gives you a bigger and clearer picture of the going ons of the major players, especially Lex Luthor. The theatrical release just tells you that Lex is behind everything because he pretty much says so towards the end of the movie when he’s pitting Superman against Batman and also you have to assume that he’s behind everything because it’s Lex Luthor. The UE shows you just how much Lex was pulling the strings to turn the public and Batmans opinion against Superman. It even hints at the possibility that the reason he was able to do all this is because he was possessed by another villain.

Unless my eyes deceived me there is a scene where he’s examining Zod’s body and his eyes go completely black. It could be that something or someone was pulling Lex’s strings as well to get rid of the man of steel. Which would also explain his slow descent into madness as the movie progresses until he’s ding dinging in a jail cell. But also the physical and mental abuse he suffered as a child by his father didn’t help his psyche either.

You also get a clear definition as to why Clark has such a hard on for Batman. The theatrical release just jumped from Superman doing super stuff to Clark having an argument with Perry about the Batman being a menace. You get to see Clark actually doing his job, which I got to say I enjoy seeing him do some investigative journalism just as much as I like to see him flying in his cape. And by doing his job of being a reporter, because really in the theatrical release you got the feeling that he never does his job since Perry is always hounding him for not doing his articles, he finds out how Batman has been terrorizing criminals. Although there is one scene that I found a little too on the nose when Clark talks to the girlfriend of the dead gangbanger that Batman branded. She tells Clark that words don’t work on someone who brands people, only fists do. I don’t think you can even call that foreshadowing. She might as well have said that Superman needs to fight Batman so justice can prevail because you know the movie is called Batman Vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice, in case you had forgotten.

Overall the portrayals of Clark as well as Superman are handled better in the UE. I know there are complaints that Superman isn’t a beacon of hope like in the comics or the Reeve’s movies. The UE doesn’t fully convey that version of Superman but it does brighten him up a little bit more than the theatrical release.

I do wish there was more Wonder Woman in the UE because she was just awesome and they could not have gone wrong with adding more Diana Prince. The one added scene for Batman that I thought was awesome was a small clip they show of Batman breaking into Lexcorp to steal the Kryptonite. If you’ve played any of the Arkham video games you’ll recognize the swoop down move he does to capture one of Lexcorp’s security guards. I wish they had shown the break in when it was happening, at least like the swoop down clip where they could showcase a couple of stealth moves or takedowns.

There are several scenes that they could have done away with completely. For all the secrecy surrounding Jena Malone’s role her scenes don’t amount to much in terms of plot or character development. Maybe that’s why they were keeping her so under wraps. Other throwaway scenes involve Alfred chopping wood and carry it back to the modern house by the lake for no apparent reason but show that this Alfred can hold his own because he’s chopping wood in an Ascot. And you also get a gratuitous butt shot of Ben Affleck when he’s getting ready for the gala event at Lex’s house. Again for no apparent reason but to show that Ben Affleck is physically capable of filling out the bat suit, maybe. I don’t know. But trust me, after going through Joel Schumacher’s bat suit nipples, this scene isn’t that shocking.

The Ultimate Edition takes a flawed movie and smooths out most of the rough edges. If you enjoyed the theatrical release like I did, it makes you appreciate it even more and it rewards you with a few more comic book references. Which I have to say is a real treat when you’ve spent many years reading comic books and a movie comes along and not just gives a nod to the source material but actually lifts plot points or lines from the comic stories you have read. If you disliked the theatrical release the UE might change your mind about it but only mildly. I do say give it a watch if only to give you more ammo for your pointless arguments of how bad the movie is. The theatrical release of BvS was a flawed exercise in doing a faithful comic book movie. The Ultimate Edition shows us what could have been if someone at Warner Bros. actually knew how to edit a movie.
