‘Deadpool Vs. Gambit’ Comic Book Series Announced

deadpool_vs_gambit

As Wade Wilson continues to dominate the Silver screen, X-Men mainstay Remy LeBeau looks to rain on his comic-book parade as Marvel announces Deadpool Vs. Gambit comic book mini-series coming this Summer.

The news was revealed at the recent ComicsPRO comic book submit explaining that the five-issue series will explore Deadpool and Gambits “secret, shared history”, with ComicBook.com elaborating that the two conmen worked together “just long enough to stab each other in the back.

Celebrated She-Hulk artist Kevin Wada will bring his talent to the covers with Danilo Beyruth providing the artwork across the pages. Thunderbolt writers Ben Acker and Ben Blacker will script the story as the Merc-with-the-Mouth takes on the Cajun-sensation when the first issue debuts this June.

Marvel looks to capitalise on 20th Century Fox’s record breaking success with Deadpool’s solo movie and are surely hoping that Channing Tatum’s Gambit film will do the same when it is released in 2017. With Deadpool 2 having already been green-light however, expect more R-Rated 4th-wall breaking shenanigans to come.

‘San Andreas’ Gets A Sequel

San-Andreas-2015-Movie

San Andreas (2015) better prepare for aftershocks as last Summer’s disaster movie is set to receive a sequel with Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson returning to his starring role.

Sources out of The Hollywood Reporter reveal that the sequel will explore the Ring of Fire, a series of fault lines and volcanoes located in an area of the Pacific Ocean that scientist believe are responsible for 90% of the world earthquakes.

Although story details are under-wraps it is expected that Carla Gugino and Paul Giamatti will also return, with The Rock’s Baywatch Movie co-star Alexandra Daddario reprising her role from the first film as the WWE superstars daughter.

San Andreas Director Brad Peyton is also back with New Line cinema tapping relative unknown’s  Neil Widener and Gavin James to script the follow-up movie.

Although San Andreas was met with a less-than-positive response from critics, the film went on to make  $473 million worldwide. Not only proving to be Warner Bros. highest grossing movie of 2015 but becoming Dwayne Johnson’s biggest solo opening of his career.

The NXT Review – 17th Feb

Sami-Zayn-vs.-Samoa-Joe-WWE-NXT

Whats up Wrestling Peeps, this week I’ve started questioning “Is this all for naught?” Not life, this #1 contendership malarky. I mean, isn’t Finn Balor injured? Sooooo where do we go from here? These are my dilemmas homes.

Talking of #1 Contenders, an 8-Man Tag Team match finally answered that glaring omissions of who should face Dash & Dawson for the Tag Titles … well kinda. With two of the biggest Face Teams on the Brand, American Alpha and Team SAWFT facing off against the Tag Champs with Blake & Murphy. This match looked to answer the question.

Dash & Dawson looked formidable with Blake & Murphy pulling out the Heel tactics as usual but the story was the perpetual rise of American Alpha. Sure Enzo got the pin for the win (does this mean they are top contenders) but Gable and Jordan stood out, even at times outshining the phenomenally popular Enzo & Cass. Now I’m not gonna pee over the Tag Champs Reign but put the belts on Enzo & Cass already. Should they actaully face the Champs in the near future, they need to win belts and go into an underdog feud with American Alpha. Think of the Matches. Think of the crowd. Think of the Promos!

Chillax bro, nobody needs to turn Heel, but with American Alpha more than helping Team SAWFT get the win tonight. Their names should defiantly be in the running.

Before her match Deonna Purrazzo reminded us yet again that she got knocked out by the scary Auska. Im not sure that she should be reminding the NXT fans that she is (for all intents and purposes) a loser. But the girl is looking to be remembered so … props.

This match was weird, not bad but kinda cartoonish or maybe comic-bookish with Purrazzo effectively causing Auska to Hulk-out with an ill-advised slap. Now I’m all for this trigger but maybe it could be extend further with Auska beating the shit out of herself before a match, just to get herself pumped up and deadly. Not that she needs a reason to kill someone in the ring but it would an adorable trait to adopt, you know … adorable for Auska that is. Like Sandman and his kendo stick, maybe she could acquire the services of Danna Brooke to use her patterned Pat-Slap to good effect. That and screeching at ringside would make anyone Hulk-out *Shivers*

So as the crowd aptly chanted, Purrazzo “Fucked Up“. You don’t poke (or slap) the Tiger and of course Auska again beat Purrazzo. Oh well, now she can say that Auska knocked her out twice. So thats something.

Lets flashback to start of this very review and my questioning the NXT Championship scene. Like many of you, I too question where we are heading. Its been well documented that Champion Finn Balor is out of action but the severity of his injury is undetermined.

As the result of Sami Zayn and Samoa Joe’s match displays, a draw, the NXT could be employing the waiting game. Stacking up wins on both sides isn’t a bad plan, both men have displayed in the past and continue to display that they have legit claim to be the Number 1 man on the brand. It ultimately fuels passion towards what I can only think will be a Triple-Threat Title match with Balor included at a TakeOver in the future. Who knows right but I wouldn’t be mad at that.

That being said, this is the second time in a matter of a few weeks that an NXT program leaves the audience thinking “what the fuck just happened.” This is wrestling, I don’t need a cliffhanger. Are we incapable of actually having a decisive win for one of these guys?

At least it gives William Regal something to do I guess. Cue the big White Board and Regal hashing out this Mutha all the way up to next week.

Sucks for him.

‘Wolverine 3’ Gets An R-Rating

the-wolverine-wallpaper-2

It seems that the Deadpool-effect is already taking hold at 20th Century Fox with sources out of the recent companies Toy Fair presentation reporting that the next Wolverine film with be R-Rated.

The image below (uploaded on imgur by RayChaos) shows a pamphlet that has been claimed to have been handed out at the event, revealing the companies projected rating for Wolverine 3.

wolverin3

Fans of the berserker may question how it has taken this long for Hugh Jackmans violent Logan to get a bloody adaption. This is in no doubt a reaction to the success of Ryan Reynolds Merc-With-A-Mouth, whose R-Rated exploits has seen Director Tim Miller‘s work surpassed Fifty Shades of Grey’s 85.2 Million on Presidents Weekend and the month of February with a cool $135 Million.
The Reynolds lead film also has a stranglehold on the crown as the biggest opening ever for a R-Rated Movie beating out Matrix Reloaded’s $91.8 Million debut.

The Wolverine Director James Mangold will return to direct the third film which Jackman revealed last year will explore the father/son relationship between Logan and Professor Xavier who will once again be portrayed by a returning Patrick Stewart.

Wolverine 3 is slated to hit theatres March 3, 2017 with production staring on the project this April.

The NXT Review – Feb 10

Whats up Wrestling-Peeps, welcome back to The NXT Review and DAMN what a week for WWE. Not really much else to talk about on the main roster front besides Daniel Bryan’s (lets face it) inevitable retirement announcement after being on the bench for a majority of 2015. But still, its sad-sad news. I’m holding back the obvious reaction to the announcement (arms at the ready) but we’ll see how far I get.

Bryan really dominated the main roster but NXT still brought it this week, and on the road no less. Did they mention this because I love live event tapings out of Full Sail, which of late has felt kinda small given how popular NXT is fast becoming. I would never say that the Full Sailers are getting lazy, I mean the regular faces are there week-in week-out so mad props. But the capacity that the studio sits doesn’t seem conducive to a lively crowd.

But Orlando laid it out. So much so that a boring Baron Corbin match was less-so than normal, so above average which is good for Corbin. Nah I’m just funning ya, Corbin (although controversial to admit) I actually like. Not to rehash but its probably true that the passion isn’t there. But Breaking Ground highlights this mans attitude to the biz, being that he is bigger than NXT. And I have to agree.

This is a hot-take that could blow up in my face but Corbin needs to move up. The skills, he has them. He is a big-guy who punches people and power bombs them until the cows come home, nothing else. And thats okay. He isn’t going to be that indie darling that his opponent Johnny Gargano is. He isn’t a high-flying or even a techincally sound wrestler but he can be that turd-of-a-heel that crowds love to boo and will fight for that top spot on RAW harder than most. In his own mind, NXT just isn’t big enough for him.

Now does he deserve that shot just yet, maybe not but I aint gonna tell him that, are you?

Finally Alexa Bliss back in singles competition, yes it was against Cameron (seriously Girl, take your own advice and wave Bye) who okay has improved but meh still pretty choppy in the ring. Any who, the match was solid if not a tad slow but that would be Cameron’s choppy-ness as mentioned but Bliss shines as a Heel and you can tell she loves taking the heat and running with it. Please no-more of these two but YES! to more single matches with Bliss. I held it in as long as I could.

Onto the main event and what has become norm for NXT, the women stole the show.

In a surprisingly competitive match Carmella showed that what Bayley can serve she is just as capable of dishing out. Got to be honest, found the ending kinda sloppy but Bayley resorting to a reverse roll-up to get Carmella’s shoulders to stay on the match. Gives credence to Carmella as serious competitor.

And that stare down at the end between Bayley and Auska. Every NXT fans wet dream right there.

The more confusing aspect, because Bayley Vs Auska just makes all the sense in the world … it just does. Is how Nia Jax and the ever-popular Eva Marie fit into the equation? After the beat down they gave Bayley and Carmella it would make all the more sense to have a few Tag Team feuds for awhile but how about we throw caution out the window and have a one-on-one feud with Carmella and Eva?

All Red Everything needs to stand on her own two-feet sooner or later and Carmella showed tonight that she can take the lead in the ring. Something that Eva has show little sign of doing just yet.

I’m just saying with Eva out the way it leaves Nia Jax to enter a Triple Threat feud with and NXT Women’s Champion Bayley. I think I just fan-fict’d something special there, make it happen WWE!

I’m sure my check is in the post.

‘X-Force’ Is Ryan Reynolds Next Passion Project

xforce

With Deadpool garnering critical and commercial success, it seems a no-brainer that 20th Century Fox would move ahead with the R-Rated Superhero genre, so it shouldn’t come as that much of a surprise that Deadpool 2 is reported as being greenlit already.

A source out of The Hollywood Reporter confirms that Ryan Reynolds Merc-With-A-Mouth will go into production without Director Tim Miller at its helm but thats not to say that the team of Miller, and writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick won’t remain together as Fox are keen to keep the three men involved.

As Miller, Reese and Wernick prepare for Deadpool 2, the man himself did reveal recently that an X-Factor film is high on his list as the next comic adaption he wants to get off the ground: “In the future, I think, if we’re doing a bunch more Deadpool movies, we’re gonna really explore the X-Men a lot,” Reynolds quip , adding, “And maybe X-Force. X-Force my priority. I really want to get that in.

Much like the Deadpool movie, the X-Force comics had a far mature tone than is expected from Marvel with various incarnations of the team dealing with Mutant threats with extreme force. Incidentally at one point Wolverine headed up the team that consisted of Deadpool, Psylocke and Archangel, characters that have all been introduced into the 20th Century Fox Mutant universe. Although Hugh Jackman has gone on record as saying that his time with the Mutant franchise will soon be at an end, maybe a new spin-off franchise might change his mind.

After all, if Reynolds can get a Deadpool movie onto the big screen, maybe a Jackman-Reynolds X-Force movie doesn’t sound all that unrealistic.

Deadpool hits UK Theatres this week.

‘Hannibal’ Creator Named Showrunner For CBS ‘Star Trek’ Tv Show

startrek

Bryan Fuller, the man behind critically acclaimed shows Pushing Daisies and Hannibal, has been named show runner for CBS’s forthcoming Star Trek Tv series. Which will mark a homecoming for the Producer and screenwriter who cut his teeth writing for Star Trek: Deep Space Nine and Star Trek: Voyager.

CBS also announced that Alex Kurtzman, who has worked as a writer and producer on the recent Star Trek movies, will serve as Executive-Producer and Co-Creator alongside Fuller. Little detail is known as to whether the series will take place within the Tv continuity established by the original series in 1966 or if it will serve as a spin-off for the alternate timeline of the Kurtzman films.

In a statement released by Fuller, the show runner confirmed his love for the Star Trek universe revealing that his “very first experience of Star Trek is my oldest brother turning off all the lights in the house and flying his model of a D7 Class Klingon Battle Cruiser through the darkened halls. Before seeing a frame of the television series, the Star Trek universe lit my imagination on fire.

He continued to express that “It is without exaggeration a dream come true to be crafting a brand-new iteration of Star Trek with fellow franchise alum Alex Kurtzman and boldly going where no Star Trek series has gone before.

Kurtzman also reciprocated the sentiments shared, remarking that “bringing Star Trek back to television means returning it to its roots, and for years those roots flourished under Bryan’s devoted care. His encyclopedic knowledge of Trek canon is surpassed only by his love for Gene Roddenberry’s optimistic future, a vision that continues to guide us as we explore strange new worlds.

The new series will be the first show made for CBS All Access, the networks Video on demand and live streaming service, and will air in early  2017. The show will have a special preview event on the Network with the rest of the episode being exclusive the VOD service with international markets receiving the show via traditional Tv services and other streaming services around the world.

The NXT Review With @mitch_rated

Finn-Balor-vs-Apollo-Crews-en-NXT.png

Whats up Wrestle-peeps, this is The NXT Review and lets break-it-down and Hype-Up as we walk into tonights show that was all about progression. Because essentially thats what we got tonight, we got NXT positioning their next big stars or just those superstars that the biz sees the most potential in. Either way it allowed us to see more Carmella, which is no bad thing and a stellar match up with a returning Finn Balor and Apollo Crews. But more on that later.

Speaking of Carmella, she got her time to shine tonight both on-and-off the mic. In a chitty-chat with Tom Phillips, the Princess of Staton Island finally layeth what many on dirt sheets already knew, that she came from wrestling royalty. Okay, maybe royalty is a stretch but if WWE can stretch bloodlines thin then so can I. Anywho, we saw some stock footage of her father, Paul Vandale, who Carmella states has MMA background. Colour me curious because I did-not-know-that! Will we see a Brock Lesnar like entrance from Carmella next? He is F-A-B-U-L-O-U-S as well don’t you think?

Positioning Carmella against Emma is an interesting match. I never want to see Emma lose, since her return to NXT coupled with her shedding her Emma-Lution schtick has seen the Aussie native shine as a Heel. But the superior skills that she posses is nessercy when dealing with a relatively still green Carmella. Not hating but she is still kinda clunky on her feet. Not levels of Kelly Kelly clunky (oh Boy, deep cut) but still not on-the-level. Which will come with facing off against more experience women, so her Title match against Bayley next week will do wonders for her I’m sure. Not so sure how great that match will be though.

Did someone say ‘Progression’? NXT dropped a bloody big teased with a big-glossy promo on American Alpha followed by Enzo & Cass making their way to the ring. I’m not ashamed to admit I peed my pants in anticipation of these two tag teams facing off but nay, my urination was in vain. Sure we got Team SAWFT in action but it really was a squash match to progress these guys (see what I did there) building the so-so feud with Dash & Dawson. A feud that I’m so not invested in which speaks more to Dash & Dawson than it does Enzo & Cass. Just give the damn titles to American Alpha already will you.

After the weak ending to the Triple-Threat (Triple-Confusing) Match last week, GM William Regal finally gave his verdict after much deliberation that lasted all week. What was he doing? Drawing diagrams, playing rematches on WWE2k16 for peeps-sake. However the head-huncho did come to a decision which was a rematch between Sami Zayn and Samoa Joe, much to the chagrin of Baron Corbin.

Dude, Corbin is going to kill someone or get himself murdered. Watching Breaking Ground just highlights how heinous this guy is. Yeah its reality TV but seriously, would you intentionally make yourself look like a D-bag? Meh, then again it is Baron Corbin.

Onto the main event and woo-boy, Finn Balor is back. Too long. It has been too long since TakeOver London and if the dirt sheets at to be believed that WWE is protecting Balor because of his age, then it has been intentional. Explain? Well he isn’t in his 20’s which means in wrestling years the dude isn’t a young stud and prone to injury. Whether you can attribute that to Balor I dunno. But the establishment seems to think so and with the injury wind facing troubling within in the WWE at the moment. You can’t blame them.

So if they want to give him a lighter load for as long they have him off the road in NXT. Go for it because I want Finn on the main roster sooner or later … but don’t rush just yet because we get matches like these.

If you have followed my Review your’ll know of my meh response to Apollo Crews. Like the wind, it changes on a dime. Was that a mix metaphor? My stance however remains the same, I’m excited to see what this guy can deliver I just don’t see it yet … until tonight.

Okay, I saw it, I did. And you can sell me on this feud going forward but I think Crews would benefit from a Heel turn or just a dirtier image. We know this dude is a nice guy, so wipe that clean or dirty it up because I wanna see this monster unleash his anger tenfold.

Overall great main event that seemed to put a full stop to these pairs facing off … but not for ever I hope.
