American Horror Story: Roanoke ‘Chapter 6’

Last week’s episode ‘Chapter 5‘ we learned of Edward Mott who built the Roanoke House, however  during construction there were a few gruesome incidents. The Colony still continues to haunt the Millers. Matt and Shelby also find themselves on the wrong side of the very odd Polk family and the matriarch Mamma Polk (Frances Conroy).

Roanoke ‘Chapter 6’

Chapter 6 starts with the following statement:

My Roanoke Nightmare was the television success story of 2015. With minimal promotion, the show garnered 23 million views by its finale, topping that week’s airing of Sunday night football, Empire, and The Walking Dead. Eager to capitalise on the success, the network asked the producer to create at follow-up series.

The Producer of My Roanoke Nightmare Sidney James (Cheyenne Jackson) armed with a film crew ambushes Frank, the network president, with a surprise on-camera pitch. Sidney details the documentation od the reality that the audiences are craving, including social media and marketing, he wants to reunite the Millers and the two actors who played them for his new his idea Return To Roanoke: Three Days in Hell, which he wants to be a hidden camera reality show that will be filmed during the “Blood Moon” and capturing the real reactions to the fake scares he intends to set up. Sidney also mentions  that he brought the Roanoke house from Matt (André Holland) and Shelby (Lily Rabe) . He emerges from the meeting with the greenlight for 13 episodes, however, its short-lived when Sidney’s assistant Diana Cross (Shannon Lucio) tells him Shelby refuses to participate.

fxs-american-horror-story-roanoke-chapter-5-sidney-670x388

10 weeks before the “Blood Moon” Sidney sets up an interview with Shelby in Ojai. Since the show, Shelby and Matt have separated and she has been receiving death threats. Shelby had a fling with Dominic Banks (Cuba Gooding Jr.), who played Matt. Shelby insists that Dominic is not to be involved, however, unbeknownst to her, Dominic is already contracted. Two weeks prior to the “Blood Moon the Roanoke house is being fitted with additional cameras and scare gimmicks to create drama. Alissa, a crew member had found a circle of dead fetal pigs to Diana’s and Sidney’s attention, no one knows how they got there. It’s not the work of the Polk family, they have been MIA for weeks.

wp-1477020423675.png

Agnes Winstead (Kathy Bates), the actress who played “The Butcher” talks about her experience on the show but there is a little more to Agnes’s story, an incident occurred when Agnes terrorised and slashed at bystanders down Hollywood Boulevard, which landed her a stint in a mental health facility and charged with assault. Sidney thinks Agnes is responsible for the fetal pig incident at Roanoke and slaps her with a restraining order. My brain keeps telling me that perhaps Agnes isn’t crazy, but actually possessed by The Butcher while filming the show? Or am I over thinking it?

fxs-american-horror-story-roanoke-chapter-5-agnes-goes-crazy-670x388

Another incident has happened at the Roanoke house, this time Greg, one of the crew is cutting wood for the hot tub, when his chainsaw was thrust into his neck, removing his head clean off and obviously killing him. Sidney decides to go ahead with production but Diana is furious and tells Sidney she’s done and speeds off, she films an affidavit about what is happening on the show and why she is leaving. Diana stops and turns the camera around and we see what looks like a Roanoke colonist, she continues to drive when the Piggy man emerges from behind her seat and kills her. Diana’s footage was recovered three months later by police, but her body was never found.

Audrey Tindall (Sarah Paulson), who played Shelby and her new husband Rory Monahan (Evan Peters), who played Edward Mott arrive at the house first, while filming on his phone she catches a glimpse of Agnes who smashes a window. Audrey has been terrorised by Agnes who has been stalking her. When Matt and Lee (Adina Porter) arrive you could cut the tension with a knife.

fxs-american-horror-story-roanoke-chapter-6-rory-and-audrey

Another statement appears stating:

Over the next three days during the blood moon, every participant in the series died under mysterious circumstances.

Except for one.

As the night goes on in the house, Shelby tries to reconcile with Matt, while Monet Tumusiime(Angela Bassett), who played Lee, tries to blame method acting as Lee turned her into an alcoholic. When Dominic arrives, Matt sees red and attacks him until the others break it up. Audrey gets out of the shower to find the Piggy man staring at her. Rory,  furious tries to find Piggy man, thinking it’s a set up by Sidney gets hacked to death by the Jane sisters, who finally get to complete their MURDER tableau.

The show never aired and we are told that what we’ve been seeing is the assembled found footage.

Wow, what an episode!!! My fellow AHS fans, what did you think of this week’s episode? Let us know your thought in the comments. I don’t know about you guys but Wednesday can not come soon enough, bring on ‘Chapter 7’!

American Horror Story airs Wednesday at 10 p.m. on FX

The top five, determined by a group of artists, historians, and music industry members, will be announced in December. They will then be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame during a ceremony held in April 2017 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.

Lucifer SN2-EP4 ‘Lady Parts’

670

Last week Lucifer and Decker investigate a gruesome murder after a video of the crime surfaced on social media, and Mamma Morningstar is to live as Charlotte Richards  as her punishment handed down by Lucifer. We also seen Amenadiel really struggling with the loss of his powers.

SN2-EP4 ‘Lady Parts’

It looks like Lucifer (Tom Ellis) and Decker (Lauren German) have another serial killer on their hands this week as they investigate the death of two young women. Lucifer is distracted while in session with Dr Martin (Rachael Harris), he is playing Sex Words with Friends on his first mobile phone with Maze (Lesley-Ann Brandt). Dr Martin tells Lucifer, his distraction could be a barrier for his problems, but Lucifer hears that distraction will help from having to deal with his problem with mamma dearest.

lucifer-2-04-lady-parts-siri

Lucifer isn’t the only one who is distracted and you can see that when they arrive at the crime scene, Lucifer senses that Decker needs to get out and live a little. Charlotte (Tricia Helfer) looking like a Stepford wife is a little frazzled as she throws her failed spicy chicken casserole in the bin, Charlotte tells Maze she has learnt that having sex with her husband renders him mute. But even though it’s worse than hell she gets to be close to her sons.

Ella (Aimee Grarcia) figured out that one of the young girls Daria died from mandrake poisoning. With Decker and Dan (Kevin Alejandro) getting a divorce, she will need to find a new place to live, which Lucifer finds as the perfect distraction and makes some calls on Decker’s behalf. The duo arrives at the house of the last person Daria had spoken with, they are met at the door by a man brandishing a butcher knife and covered in blood… It’s ok he was making sausages. Decker also notices how distracted Lucifer  in frustration he calls Maze to ask her to Chloe out for drinks in hopes it distracts her.

lucifer-204_scn15_bs0062_hires2-800x534

Amenadiel (D.B. Woodside) stops by Dr Martins to return a book, she can tell something is wrong and as a friend, she offers to listen. However, he tells Dr Martin that his problem is physical, that things aren’t working like they used to. Dr Martin thinks that Amenadiel is talking about Amenadiel Jr not standing to attention and tells him to loosen up, if only that was the problem it would be differently easier to fix .

lucifer-204_scn20_bs0115_hires1

Decker and Lucifer find Daria’s roommate dead in Daria’s apartment with the same triangle stamp on her wrist. Decker rocks up at Lux and wants to go over the lab report, Maze suggests that she and Decker go to the bar that the roommates had been to. It quickly turns into a girls night, and Dr Martin suggests they all share a secret to break the ice. We learn Dr.Martin was a phone sex operator, Ella stole cars, we already know Maze was forged in hell and Decker drops the divorce bomb.

lucifer-season-2-episode-4-500x333

Decker and Lucifer figure out that Daria’s neighbour Lily is responsible for the girl’s deaths.  Maze tells Lucifer that she and Decker are going to be roommates, Lucifer is convinced all the women is his life are ganging up on him. Amenadiel asks Lucifer what he asked their father for in exchange for bringing their mother back to hell. Amenadiel points out that Lucifer hasn’t fulfilled his part of the deal, and Decker’s life could be in grave danger. However, Lucifer doesn’t believe their father would be interested in one little soul….. Decker is driving while talking to a landlord about an apartment, when she is suddenly hit by another car.

Kickstarter Spotlight: Monster Of The Week

mosteroftheweek

Standard Cover for Issue #1

I try to do my best to release a variety of comic content here on Skatronixxx, and while a lot of it has been horror comics lately (it is that time of year) I can’t help it sometimes. Creators come to me and give me a copy of their comic, and it turns out to be a horror comic. I do my best to give them exposure or a review. Horror is not something I usually read a lot of, but now I do.

Monster Of The Week #1 shares some elements of the horror but is actually a giant monster adventure story. Each year, once a week, every week, for three months in the mid-west of the United States a GIANT MONSTER falls from the sky. The later in the week the monster arrives the bigger it is. A group of young kids are convinced this is their year for “glory” in defeating a monster themselves despite US military involvement in destroying the monsters.

Unlike a lot of Kickstarter Campaigns Moster Of The Week #1 is an already completed comic. The Campaign is mainly for printing cost. So you know if and when this Kickstarter is funded you will not have a long wait time to receive the physical copy of the comic (if that’s the reward you choose) which is great considering the long wait times many other Kickstarter have.

Having had the chance to read the completed issue I have to say its a cool concept for a comic. It leaves you wondering where these monsters come from and why they come once a year to the Midwestern United States and not any of the major cities.

Writer Ryan Little does a good job of setting up this interesting story with no filler dialogue that’s straight to the point. Ryan has described the comic as “A Giant Monster/ Kaiju book in the wonky tone of Adventure Time“, and I have to say that’s pretty accurate.

I’m a big fan of Adventure Time and speaking of which Artist Mike Vasquez has worked on Adventure Time. Mike has also worked for companies such as Topps and Upper Deck, as has colourist, Joe Hogan.

The reward tiers are very reasonable for comic fans and a decent retailer incentive for shops looking for something new and a signing to help bring  in customers. If you got the cash and enjoy giant monster adventure comics consider supporting Monster Of The Week #1.

The campaign has currently raised $529 of it $1,500 goal with 19 days to go (Fri, Nov 4, 2016, 12:32 PM EDT is the deadline) .
